In my LOW fed Major League Wrestling (MLW), after my upcoming Wrestlemania 3 PPV, I'm thinking of doing theme PPVs like the WWE does now such as Hell in a Cell, Elimination Chamber, Breaking Point, Night of Champions, etc.
Do you guys think doing theme PPVs like that would be a good idea or a bad idea and why?

Good. Maybe not *every* PPV, but some. I do this myself if you read my fed. I use King of the Cage (all-cage PPV), Supremacy Event (champ runs a gauntlet of 12), Impossible Tournament and a few others here and there. It's a good thing because it's not just standard PPV's all the time and adds some excitement to it. Not only that but when I do it, I look forward to it, an excitement comes over me to build up to it and run it. If it works for you and you like it, I say DO IT!

I like the theme PPVs, I think they're a good idea provided that the matches' build suit the theme (Basically if it's HIAC, the two guys basically want to rip each other in half).

How do you run an Elimination Chamber btw? Which rules do you use? I've thought of doing this, but not sure on which rules are out there and stuff.

I can't remember who it was because it was over 5 years ago, but someone Emailed me a pretty cool elimination chamber chart that I use. I just used it last month at one of my RAW brand PPVs, but I just looked for it and I can't remember where I put it. But I think there are some elimination chamber rules posted in the COTG/LOW Resources forum on this board.

For instance, Hell in a Cell IMO should be the end of a major feud that had been going on for awhile. Breaking Point would be interesting to set up and do. Some guys like Ed "Strangler" Lewis would have a tremendous advantage in the submission matches based on how their cards are written.

Yeah, I think it was Mr. Hyde who posted a BEAST version of the Elimination Chamber. It's the one I used in LLUSA. Breaking Point in LOW is an interesting thing for sure, because not everyone has a sub. on their card, so it'd take a bit of imagination (or hell even common sense in a few cases) to get the non-submission guys to be able to do a submission match. And then there's always using an I Quit match like they did for that awesome Cena/Orton match. Have you thought about doing Bragging Rights, Vegas? Would be interesting to see what you can do with that in MLW.

Yeah, for Breaking Point there are some LOW wrestlers like Steve "Dr. Death" Williams who don't have a level 3 offensive submission move on their card who would have to be involved in something like an I Quit match (good idea about the I Quit match Switchfoot) or posibly a last man standing match instead of an actual submission match.
I don't know if I'll do Bragging Rights or not (I sort of do it a different way with an annual card- this year it was Cruisergate- between Major League Wrestling and Minor League Wrestling.)

While CCW does not have PPVs currently, I do have the Survival of the Fittest coming up. Based off the ROH tourny, I shortened mine to be an 8-man tourny. With the 1st round winners going into the 4-way dance at the end. A twist on this, that I have not tried yet, would be to put your champion either in the tourny or in the final match to make it a 5-way elimination match. This obviously could work for tag teams as well, but just be a tad longer.
Overall, I think as long as you are not doing a theme PPV every PPV (but maybe like 4 times a year), it will be really interesting. I would just hate to see your awesome fed get caught up in the shoe-horning that these type of PPVs sometimes entail.

I'm torn on this idea, especially as it relates to current-day WWE. I understand that having monthly (or more) PPVs, WWE has to get fans to want to buy each time. And if they're just doing "general" PPVs, eventually people won't buy. So you want to make each PPV feel special.
The problem I have with some of their themes (Hell in a Cell, in particular) is two-fold. First, if the Hell in a Cell Match becomes a "tradition" that they have to do every year, it makes the match itself, no matter how "hot" the feud is, seem less special. Matches are booked in the cell, because the timing of the PPV is right, not because it's the right time for that feud.
The second problem I have, particularly with Hell in a Cell, is that they do more than one match on one show, and that in a way hurts the stip, and again hurts the uniqueness of it.
There are certain stips and gimmicks that can be done on PPV, such as Royal Rumble, because all these guys are fighting for a title shot on the biggest card of the year. At first I didn't like having two Elimination Chamber Matches on one PPV, but I've gotten used to it. Even though it's a brutal Cage Match, that should be saved for special feuds, realistically, it's hard to have a six-way feud. I kind of like how WWE is pushing it this year, as "the last chance" after the Royal Rumble to get into one of the main events at Wrestlemania.
Anywho, my thoughts are for your own fed, if you're doing themed PPVs is to not overdo them and those that you do, make them stand out and special.
