Thanks Kamala and Crue
Steve Williams (24) v Ted DiBiase (41)
Good friends or bitter enemies. These two know each other very well have both teamed and battled in the southern United States and overseas. A handshake gets us going and DiBiase gets to work early on with a spinning neckbreaker for a 1 count (R7/2). DiBiase maintains the advantage with a series of chops in the corner and a power slam. DiBiase traps Williams in a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK but Williams powers out (R10/P4). DiBiase uses a fist drop and then connects with a LOADED GLOVE that busts Williams open. Dr. Death kicks out of the cover (R10/P4) as the fans turn on DiBiase. Williams counters a charge to the corner with a knee to the chest and then whips DiBiase off the ropes. DiBiase rebounds with a nifty looking cross body that gets a 2 count (R7/P5). The match goes to the floor and a bloody Williams wins the first brawl. The action returns to the floor seconds later and DiBiase cracks his opponent with a steel chair drawing great heat. The referee sees the blow and disqualifies DiBiase. DiBiase is not pleased and he decks the referee before leaving ringside. Up next... Don Leo Jonathan (25) v. Ed Lewis (40)

Upsets are always part of any tourney. Good stuff here.
Put me in the camp of those that are upset that "The Magnificent One" didn't get out of the first round. Always loved Muraco. But Inoki is no pushover.

I'm glad Steve Williams won, but too bad it wasn't via pinfall. I'm pulling for DLJ to win over Ed Lewis...

@ mwjergs - I always enjoy the upsets. Tiger Mask beat Nick Bockwinkel clean in the opening round of the first tournament and that blew my mind.
@ CC - DQ finishes can make you mental. They can move a feud along in regular game play but in a tournament like this, it really shakes things up. I always worry that the semi-finals or finals will end in a DQ. What happens if the finals are a double DQ? Yikes!
Don Leo Jonathan (25) v. Ed Lewis (40) The Strangler had a storied career but fans wondered if he had ever been in the ring with someone the likes of DLJ. A handshake earns the fans respect and we are underway. The clash in styles makes for an interesting stalemate for most of the early action. Lewis at times looks dominate keeping his much larger and quicker opponent on the mat but Jonathan has his moments with dropkicks and forearms. The Mormon giant strings together some offense and then connects with a rolling back splash for a near fall (R4/P2). A swinging full nelson forces Lewis to the floor and Jonathan dives out onto his opponent at ringside rocking the fans! Lewis can only regain the ring at the count of 8 (R11/P3). Jonathan uses his size and speed to control the action. A giant swing bounces Lewis to the floor. The Strangler crawls back into the ring and Jonathan hooks him in the MORMON SWING but Lewis kicks out of the pin (R10/P6). Jonathan follows Lewis to ringside and Lewis gains control. Back in the ring, Lewis clamps down with a STRANGLER’S HEADLOCK but Jonathan easily powers out (R10/P2). Lewis goes back to the hold but again Jonathan escapes. (R6/P3) Lewis eats the steel post at ringside. Lewis’ shoulder is clearly hurt. Jonathan continues the attack in the ring. Lewis manages to send Jonathan to the ropes and both men go for a clothesline and crash in the middle of the ring. Jonathan recovers first and mounts the corner for a deathjump right into Lewis’ boot! Lewis tosses Jonathan to the floor starting a wild brawl at ringside. Jonathan gets the advantage. Back inside, Jonathan mounts the corner again and this time connects with a deathjump clothesline. Jonathan hoists Lewis into a MORMON SWING and the Lewis crashes to the mat. Hooks the leg . . . 1, 2, 3 (R8/P8). The fans are on their feet for both men. Lewis shakes Jonathan’s hand and leaves the ring. Up next . . . Buddy Rogers (8) v. Curt Hennig (57)

It was cool to see "Dr. Death" advance even if it was by DQ. DLJ vs. Ed Lewis was an incredible battle. I was on the edge of my seat reading that. Hoping for Curt Hennig to pull off a win against Buddy Rogers in the next match.

Thanks for the feedback Crue. Lewis v. DLJ was a blast to play out.
Buddy Rogers (8) v. Curt Hennig (57)
The Nature Boy against the man who claims perfection. Hennig is the face tonight but even with the fans support he struggles early on. Rogers sets the pace ramming Hennig’s leg off the ring post in the opening minutes of the contest. Later, Rogers wins a brawl outside and then traps Hennig in a FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE. Hennig is able to grab the ropes (R7/P6) but the Nature Boy keeps the pressure on including a perfect deathjump smash to Hennig’s already damaged leg. Rogers traps Hennig in a second FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE but again Hennig makes it to the ropes (R8/P7). The action goes to the floor and both men are nearly disqualified. Hennig has his first offensive flurry but the advantage is short lived. Rogers tosses Hennig outside after a piledriver but Hennig trips up Rogers and drags him to the corner running his leg off the ring post. The fans explode but are stunned when the bell sounds. Hennig has been disqualified. Hennig is irate but Rogers hobbles from ringside rubbing his leg on his way to the next round. Up next . . . Bryan Danielson (4) v. Abraham Lincoln (61)

very true Jmelton...
Bryan Danielson (4) v. Abraham Lincoln (61)
Handshake gets us going the fans show their respect to both men. Both men trade moves and when the pace picks up Danielson takes over trapping Lincoln in a LEBELL LOCK but Lincoln is able to counter (R7/P3). Danielson immediately moves to the GUILLOTINE CHOKE but Lincoln is able to get the foot to the ropes (R7/P4). Danielson goes back to the hold again but Lincoln does not allow him to get it fully locked in (R9/P5) and Danielson moves to a LEBELL LOCK. With the fans chanting, the former President makes it to the ropes to keep the match going (R8/P6). Danielson is a machine and goes for this firth straight submission with yet another GUILLOTINE CHOKE but again Lincoln is able to escape (R12/P7). The fans cannot believe it and get behind Lincoln who responds with his first real offense of the night. His headlock throw is his most effective weapon. Danielson rebounds off the ropes and counters Lincoln’s backdrop with a piledriver. Danielson crushes Lincoln with a deathjump clothesline. GUILLOTINE CHOKE. This time there is no miracle counter (R4/P9)
Up next... Mr. Saito (29) v. Pepper Gomez (36)

The tournament is going great and rolling right along. You've had alittle bit of everything so far. Sounds like the dice gods were not kind to the former president. Can't wait for more.
