Bruiser Brody (13) v. John Pesek (52)
A very interesting matchup of power and aggression against mat skills was featured in the next contest. Pesek shows no fear as Brody storms the ring. Pesek is able to catch Brody in the corner with a slingshot and immediately goes for the win with a DOUBLE WRISTLOCK but Brody powers free (R7/P2). Brody has one direction, forward, and is able to gain control and score a two count with back to back one handed body slams (R6/P3). A big boot to the face gets Brody another two count (R10/P4) before a JUMPING KNEE DROP sends him into the next round (R8/P8).

Jimmy Snuka (12) v. Greg Valentine (53) w/Jimmy Hart
These two have battled many times in the past and know each other well [this was actually the main event of the first wrestling card I saw live. Snuka was a substitute for an injured Andre The Giant and took the bout by DQ]. Valentine came from out of nowhere and made it to the finals last year. It goes back and forth at the bell but Snuka gains the upper hand with a solid head butt followed by a leap frog and chop that gets a 1 count (R8/P4). Snuka takes the match to the floor and Valentine gains the advantage with a chop block. Back in the ring, The Hammer mounts the corner but Snuka counters the deathjump with a foot the face. The fans love it. Snuka then mounts the corner for a deathjump smash but Valentine rolls clear and the Superfly crashes. Valentine hooks the leg for two (R4/P3). Valentine the climbs to the top of the buckles with Hart telling him “get’em baby, get’em” but Snuka rolls clear the Valentine lands hard. Snuka covers for a two count (R9/P5). Back to the floor we go and both men tear up ringside. Valentine gets the advantage and this time maintains it. A series of Valentine chops down Snuka and Valentine applies a FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE. Snuka is able to reverse it (R10/P6). The fans are behind Snuka and he responds with a big comeback. A leap frog and chop downs Valentine and Snuka then plants him with a piledriver. 1, 2, kick out (R7/P5). Snuka follows with a power slam and a backbreaker. Snuka has Valentine beat but Hart distracts the Superfly and the referee. Valentine grabs Hart’s megaphone and decks Snuka! Valentine downs a bloody Snuka with a shoulder breaker. 1, 2, kick out (R12/P6)! The fans explode! Valentine connects with a deathjump smash to the knee and then traps Snuka in a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. The fans are cheering for Snuka but a bloody Superfly blacks out and Valentine moves on in the tournament. (R7/P8).

What a win for the "Hammer" in that one. Also congrats to Bruiser Brody for knocking off John Pesek. I'm going with Johnny Valentine for the win over DDP.

Johnny Valentine (21) v. Diamond Dallas Page (44)
Page came to the ring through the fans giving out plenty of high fives along the way. At the bell Valentine went to work immediately but Page was able to weather the storm and connect with a swinging neckbreaker for a ½ count (R10/P1). Valentine was able to regain control and worked a very slow methodical attack against Page. Page would have the occasional offensive flurry but Valentine always found a way to get back in control. The action went outside several times and that it where the bout ended when Valentine rammed Page into the steel post earning a disqualification. We have back to back upsets in the tournament.

I was wrong with that prediction but it was cool to see DDP advance. Roddy Piper vs. John Tolos should be awesome and can you imagine the promos building that one up!

Glad to see DDP advance though I would have rather it been a pin fall. Piper v Tolos. That will be an interesting one. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.
Roddy Piper (28) v. John Tolos (37)
Piper was out to a monster pop from ringside but Tolos owned the early action in this one with a mixture of cheating and punishing holds. A corkscrew takes a toll on Piper early on and a second one leads to a 2 count (R7/P4). Tolos takes the bout to the floor and both men tear up ringside. The referee comes outside to restore order but Tolos shoves the official to the floor and the fight continues. The bell sounds and Tolos has been disqualified but neither man cares as the brawl continues back to the dressing room with the fans cheering each blow.
Next Match: Rob Van Dam (5) w/Bill Alfonso v. Curt Hennig w/The Genius (60). RVD has never really lived up to the hype in my feds so I am picking Hennig to pull it out
