It is that time once again fellow promoters. 64 competitors. The best of Legends of Wresting battling in a single elimination tournament. But first a look back to the action from the past tournaments.
In 2011, Bobo Brazil battled his way past Al Snow, Al Costello, Bob Orton , Rikidozan and Masked Superstar to make it to the finals. His opponent was Killer Kowalski who survived bouts against Ilio DiPaolo, Kevin Sullivan, Andre The Giant by DQ, Ox Baker and Don Leo Jonathan. Here is the action from the finals…
Brazil is loved by the fans and Kowalski is despised so ringside is electric during the introductions. Kowalski dominates the action from the bell including a wicked deathjump knee smash. Brazil is able to drag Kowalski to the floor and whips him into the ring post shoulder first. The referee lets the action continue and Brazil attacks with a deathjump smash of his own followed by a COCO BUTT for a 1 count (R8/P3). The action evens out and slows down. Both men exchange counters. Kowalski catches Brazil rebounding off the ropes with a high knee smash and then mounts the corner for a deathjump smash but Brazil is able to recover and tosses Kowalski to the mat. The fans pop and Brazil tries for the submission with a bearhug but Kowalski hangs on (R10/P4). Brazil is frustrated and chokes Kowalski on the ropes and then hits a backbreaker. Cover. 1, 2, 3. (R2/P5) Snake eyes! Your winner of the tournament….BOBO BRAZIL
In 2012, top seed Andre The Giant advanced to the finals with wins over Brian Danielson in an absolute thriller, Magnum TA, Bobby Eaton, Jim Londos and Terry Gordy. His opponent was 6th seed Nick Bockwinkel who defeated Bob Orton Sr by DQ, Antonio Inoki, Don Leo Jonathan by DQ, Mil Mascaras and Cowboy Bob Orton in one of the best matches of the tournament. The final was fantastic and featured one of the best finishes I have ever played out.
These two battled to a one hour draw back in the day that was positively received by fans and critics alike now they battled for LOW supremacy. Bockwinkel goes into the ropes early and is able to stun Andre with a leg block on the rebound. A series of kick to the ribs gives Bockwinkel the advantage but Andre grabs Bockwinkel in a bear hug. Bockwinkel escapes (R12/P3). Andre takes the match to the oustide and scores with a body slam at ringside then greets Heenan with a head butt that sprawls the Brian onto the arena floor. Andre goes to the floor one too many times and Bockwinkel gains the upper hand. Back in the ring a piledriver rocks the fans and Andre rolls to the floor. Bockwinkel comes outside but Andre gains the upper hand. Andre controls the action in the ring but cannot get Bockwinkel in a pinning position. Bockwinkel is able to avoid an elbow drop and goes after Andre’s legs with a figure four leglock (ch). Andre once again bails to the floor. Bockwinkel follows the Giant out and then trade blows around the ring. Andre tosses Bockwinkel back into the ring as Heenan shakes out the cob webs. Andre then tosses Bockwinkel to the floor and runs his head into the ringside rails. Bockwinkel is busted open and the referee warns the Giant. Andre mounts the corner with a bloody Bockwinkel dazed in the ring. Heenan is yelling at ringside and Giant is momentarily distracted. It is all Bockwinkel needs as he falls into the ropes causing the Giant to fall from the top rope to the mat twisting his leg/knee in the process. The fans are reeling. Andre is in obvious pain. Heenan is screaming “the knee, the knee!” Bockwinkel acts quickly and applies a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. Andre cannot reach the ropes despite his size and submits (R2/P2) (Cats eyes!). Nick Bockwinkel wins the 64 man tournament!
In 2013, two competitors from the Introduction set made it to the finals with Road Warrior Hawk battling Greg Valentine. It was the first time a top 10 seed did not make it to the finals. In fact, the last top seed was eliminated in the quarterfinals. Hawk made it through Ivan Koloff, John Pesek, Antonio Inoki by DQ, Steve Williams by DQ, Terry Gordy. Valentine was a long shot but battled past Tommy Rich, Antonio Rocca, The Crusher by DQ, Nick Bockwinel by DQ and Harley Race. The finals was a bit of a letdown after another solid tournament of action
For the second time in three tournaments, the finals feature an all first set showdown. As well, for the first time, the final does not feature one of the top 10 seeds. There is great pace to this one from the outset with no clear advantage to either man. Hawk catches Valentine with a running clothesline and scrambles for a 1 count (R10/P4). Hawk wastes no time and mounts the corner for a FLYING CLOTHESLINE. 1, 2, 3 (R2/P6). Hawk wins the tournament! It is a Cats Eyes finish for the third final in a row!
This year the action has the potential to be even better. How far with the Macho Man make it in the tournament. Can anyone stop Andre The Giant this year? Who will be the dark horse pick to go deep into the tournament? As always, comments and predictions are always welcome. Please check with your local authorities before wagering.
Up first....

The number in the brackets, is that what seed they are? Number 1 against Number 64? Wow. I'd like to see Lincoln pull an upset.

Thanks for the question Nuke. The number is the seeding. I have to admit that I seeded the tournament prior to the legends Wiki being available so there are some seeding that might seem slightly out of place when you compare them to the official Rohl rating on the Wiki.
Hope you continue to follow along.

Andre The Giant (1) v. Abraham Lincoln (64)
Andre has yet to win the tournament and looks even larger than usual in the ring with Lincoln. The fans are split as the competitors shake hands. Lincoln shows no fear as battles the Giant in a series of holds. Lincoln is able to avoid a dropkick from the Giant and attempts a full nelson that Andre easily breaks free of (R6/P1). Andre’s power gets him back into control but when the pace picks up, Lincoln shows some life. Andre strikes with a heat butt that wobbles Lincoln but only gets a two count (R5/P3). Andre slows thing down with a bear hug followed by a body scissors and lift that shakes the ring. A sitdown splash crushes Lincoln followed by a power bomb (ch) that folds Lincoln nearly in half! Andre hooks the leg and moves on in to the next round (R3/P5).
Up next... Mr. Saito (32) v. Giant Bernard (33)
