Fist Pump Wresting - Friday Night Fist Pump
"Oh you better hold onto your seats, we've got a whirlwind of a show for you tonight!"
FPW is always on the look-out for new talent, and this week Billy Red Lyons has a try-out match against Val Venis. It’s a showcase of a match, with each wrestler demonstrating what great skill they have in the ring. After a Money Shot from Venis, Lyons kicks out and traps Venis in the Figure Four Leglock. It’s all over, and Lyons is ecstatic. The audience cheer and applaud both the competitors, who shake hands. Venis gets in a few hip swivels on his way back to the locker room, to the delight of his fans. While FPW Management has been cagey about whether Lyons will be offered a contract, we’re sure to see Lyons again at FPW in the near future…
Winner: Billy Red Lyons
Backstage, the camera catches William Muldoon in conversation with The Colony. Green Ant holds up an Ant mask and Muldoon tries it on…but quickly removes it and shakes his head….
The Chests (Mike Graham and Bob Armstrong) versus The Cauliflower Alley Kids (Ron Hutchison and Bruiser “The Body” Costa)
Bob Armstrong enters the ring first, karate chops flying, but takes a beating from first Costa and then Hutchison. Armstrong repeatedly attempts to tag out to Graham but is unable to, so great is the teamwork from The Cauliflower Alley Kids. Armstrong attempts to involve Graham in a Double Chest Burn on Hutchison but Costa holds back Graham and the move fails. His frustration building, Graham grabs a small dumbbell from The Chests’ gym bag outside the ring, reaches over the ropes and hits Hutchison in the face. The Chests are disqualified! Armstrong shouts at Graham for losing them the match, calling him a hothead. An argument begins, but quickly calms down as Armstrong and Graham agree that their chests are better than their opponents’, and that one of these days their list of devastating chest-based double team moves is bound to score them a win.
Winners: The Cauliflower Alley Kids
Backstage, William Muldoon is seen talking with The Chests and flexing his chest to compare with theirs. The Chests shake their heads, and posture to show how much better their chests are. Muldoon nods in agreement and walks off alone….
Rick Rude is booked to fight Jim Londos but as the crowd await Londos’ appearance, some unfamiliar music plays and ‘the last real man in wrestling’ Silas Young strides out instead! The crowd don’t know what to think - who is this dangerous looking stranger?! Young announces that “Unfortunately, Jim Londos ran into a spot of trouble and is unable to make it tonight”, and proceeds to trash talk Rude as he makes his way to the ring. The match begins and, wound up by the insults from this cocky newcomer, Rude hits Young straight off the bell. Both men inflict some serious damage on each other but Rude eventually wins with the Rude Awakening.
Winner: Rick Rude
Afterwards, during Rude’s post-match interview, Young attacks Rude from behind. Rude appears to be seriously injured and may be out of action for some time. As the cameras film medical staff rushing to Rude’s aid, they spot Jim Londos locked in the dressing room. He appears to have a black eye.
After his claim last week that he can beat anyone on the roster, FPW Management announces that Buddy Rogers will fight a gauntlet match, facing a string of his FPW colleagues in back to back matches, continuing until he loses. Arrogantly, Rogers shouts to the audience “I hope you’re sitting comfortably because I can do this all night!”.
Buddy Rogers’ first opponent is the incomparable Mr X. After some unexpected offence from Mr X, which gains him some applause from the crowd, Rogers traps him in the Figure Four Grapevine and he immediately taps.
Winner: Buddy Rogers
Next, Rogers faces Mr X’s friend and occasional tag partner Larry Sharpe. Prior to the match, the commentary team informs Rogers that Sharpe has been using the “New Nature Boy” gimmick. “Who?” says Rogers, making a show of never having heard of Larry Sharpe, despite working in the same federation since it began. As Sharpe comes to the ring in his diamante encrusted robe, Rogers at first laughs and then becomes angry. Rogers goes in hard but Sharpe doesn’t give up easily and hits Rogers with a piledriver. After kicking out of the pin, Rogers shows Sharpe how it’s done and hits a piledriver of his own. Sharpe can’t escape the subsequent pin.
Winner: Buddy Rogers
Rogers’ next opponent is Frank Dalton, who has proved himself capable of taking on such big names as Frank Gotch (and not quite winning). Dalton doesn’t disappoint his (largely female) fanbase and gives Rogers quite a scare, hitting two atomic drops in quick succession and smiling and winking to the ladies in the front row. But denim shorts and blue eyes don’t win a match, and again, Rogers shows how the top talent does it, schooling Dalton in the proper delivery of an atomic drop and pinning him for the 1-2-3.
Winner: Buddy Rogers
FPW Gladiator Champion Brad Armstrong steps up next. With his hair looking great and the crowd on his side, Armstrong tries his best and gets a few moves in on Rogers. Rogers comes back with a series of dropkicks and piledrivers before winning with the Figure Four Grapevine.
Winner: Buddy Rogers
Having lost to Rogers last week, Justin Credible comes back for more punishment. The match is over quickly – Credible reaches for his Singapore Cane but Rogers grabs him and crushes him in the Figure Four Grapevine. Keeping up his image as a tough man, Credible refuses to tap out. As he falls unconscious, the referee stops the match.
Winner: Buddy Rogers
Having been released from the dressing room where he was trapped earlier, Jim Londos emerges with a black eye. Londos and Rogers have a very competitive match. After Rogers hits him with a sunset flip, Londos comes back with a sunset flip of his own and the two trade moves. After a while, Rogers’ fatigue from his previous five matches sets in. Londos throws Rogers around with an aeroplane spin and follows it up with a crotch lift and slam for the win.
Winner: Jim Londos
Backstage, the camera zooms in through the dressing room window where Val Venis can be seen handing William Muldoon a white towel. He holds it up to himself in the mirror and tries an awkward looking hip swivel. Venis smiles in encouragement but Muldoon quickly hands the towel back, shaking his head…..
***Main event – the FPW Tag Team titles are on the line!***
Reigning Champions The Katz take on former champs Brian Kendrick and Paul London, who feel they have turned around their run of bad fortune and are ready to reclaim the titles. Tiger Mask and Jushin Liger defend the titles with Battle Kat at ringside for motivation. The Chests are on commentary.
The audience is treated to a fantastic, fast paced match with lots of reversals and high spots. From the commentary table, Mike Graham talks trash about Kendrick all through the match, saying “he’s never drawn a dime”, and becoming more irate and red in the face as the match goes on.
After an amazing show that leaves the crowd breathless, The Katz retain the titles with a Tiger Suplex on Paul London. As they celebrate in the ring to Battle Kat’s theme tune, The Chests throw off their headphones and jump into the ring to humiliate Kendrick and London, who are still lying in the corner of the ring. They slap Kendrick and London around and make fun of their chests; Mike Graham grabs Kendrick’s head and rubs his face into Armstrong’s hairy chest. All three Katz square up to The Chests, who have gatecrashed their celebration, and Armstrong and Graham back off and slip back to the locker room.
Winners, and still your FPW Tag Team Champions: The Katz
As the commentators round up the show and the final music plays, the camera shows William Muldoon shaking hands with The Katz backstage. Battle Kat strikes a feline pose and does a backflip; Muldoon tries a pose of his own, then Tiger Mask and Jushin Liger support Muldoon while he attempts a backflip. Muldoon looks thoroughly uncomfortable with both the pose and the backflip, he thanks The Katz but shakes his head and leaves…..
"See you next week for more hot, fist pumpin' action from all our fantastic stars!!"
