Official Rankings May 2018
Canadian Champion: Lou Thesz (1) Commonwealth Champion: Harley Race (8) 1. Buddy Rogers (CC) 2. Bobo Brazil (5) 3. Rob Van Dam (3) 4. Jimmy Snuka (9) 5. The Destroyer (-) 6. Ted DiBiase (7) 7. Diamond Dallas Page (6) 8. Hacksaw Jim Duggan (-) 9. “Macho Man” Randy Savage (4) 10. Bruiser Brody (2)
Canadian Open Tag Team Champions: ROAD WARRIORS (COTG) 1. Greg Valentine & Ted DiBiase (4) 2. The Taylors (3) 3. Double Axe Attack (2) 4. Brutus Beefcake & Hacksaw Jim Duggan (-) 5. Lou Thesz & Harley Race (-)
Notes: There has been some significant shake ups in the battle to become top contender for both the single titles. Despite being the next challenger for Harley Race’s Commonwealth Title, Bruiser Brody has fallen from number two to the last spot in the top ten. Also falling significantly is “Macho Man” Randy Savage who comes in at number nine this month but appears ready to be feud with Rob Vam Dam in a conflict that could set the territory of fire over the coming weeks. Former champion Buddy Rogers has taken the top contenders spot and it is expected that a rematch with Lou Thesz will headline the June 17th card in Oshawa. Jimmy Snuka has picked up enough wins to be considered for shot at one of the tiles in the near future. In tag team action, the lack of depth is apparent with the departure of the Foreign Legion. Current number one contenders Greg Valentine & Ted DiBiase got the best of their feud with Brutus Beefcake & Hacksaw Jim Duggan in tag team action but had mixed success in singles matches. The Taylors have proven to be a solid mid card team but not a serious threat to the Road Warriors. The Double Axe Attack are likely not going to be competing together anytime soon with Curt Hennig turning his attention to single action. The contract status of Brutus Beefcake & Hacksaw Jim Duggan is unknown as of press time and it is possible both competitors will be departing the territory in the near future. Finally, both Lou Thesz & Harley Race are focused on defending their singles titles and it is highly unlikely they will make a push for the Canadian Open Tag Team Titles.

Card 10 – Midland Arena Gardens, Midland, ON – June 3, 2018
The late day rain does not keep the fans from turning out for this one all the title holders in the territory are in action. Bell Time!
Larry Hennig b. Bruiser Costa A couple of bulls collided in the opening contest. Costa was able to get in some early punches but Hennig came back with a series of shoulder blocks, repeated body slams and chops. Another body slam knocked the wind from Costa and allowed Hennig to hook the leg for the win.
Greg Valentine w/Ted DiBiase DQ Animal w/Hawk & Paul Ellering Morgan Dollar sends DiBiase, Ellering and Hawk packing before the bell due to concerns about potential outside interference. Animal’s power attack is on full display early on but the co-holder the Canadian Open Tag Team Titles cannot get the three count before Valentine makes his way back into the action with forearms and chops. However, Animal is able to catch Valentine coming off the ropes with a countering powerslam that shakes the ring. Valentine kicks out of the cover and then kicks out again after another POWER SLAM. The action goes in and out of the ring. A falling elbow hammer gives Valentine a near fall. Valentine survives another POWER SLAM and a press slam as well. They go back to the floor and Valentine grabs a chair but Animal rips it away and cracks The Hammer with it. Dollar calls for the disqualification. Animal press slams Valentine back into the ring but DiBiase returns to ringside and drags Valentine to safety. The Taylors (Tugboat Taylor & Chaz Taylor) b. King Kong Bundy & “Pretty Boy” Bobby Heenan Chaz Taylor uses his speed to avoid Bundy’s offense in the opening minutes even rolling up Bundy for a two and three quarters count. Tugboat and Bundy engage in brief showdown that has the fans on edge before Heenan enters the action with chokes and hair pulls. Taylor counters a charge to the corner and kills Heenan with a clothesline. Taylor then executes a backbreaker and makes the cover for the win.
Ted DiBiase w/Greg Valentine b. Hawk w/Animal & Paul Ellering This one resembled a lumberjack match at times with plenty of brawling on the floor evolving everyone at points in time. In the ring, Hawk and DiBiase put on a classic. Hawk wowed the fans with his power while DiBiase used every trick in the book to gain the upper hand. A COBRA CLUTCH did not put Hawk away before the action when back to the floor. Both men took turns eating the steep ring post (DiBiase twice!) before it was all said and done. The finish came with Hawk mounting the corner for a flying cross body block deathjump but DiBiase used the momentum to roll through hooking the tights for the three count. The fans were livid but Valentine & DiBiase leave Midland 2-0 against the Canadian Open Tag Team Champions.
Jimmy Snuka b. Pamper Firpo As expected these two spent more time brawling on the floor then trades holds in the ring. Firpo gained the upper hand but Snuka was able to make the ropes to escape EL GARFIO. They went back to the floor and Snuka choked Firpo with a strap from Dr. Mike Lano’s camera equipment. Snuka tossed his foe back into the ring and hit the SUPERFLY LEAP for the controversial victory.
Curt Hennig & The Destroyer b. Diamond Dallas Page & Bobo Brazil (inj 1) The fans wanted desperately for Brazil to get tagged into the action but he spent the entire match on the apron as Hennig and Destroyer went to work with well timed tags and a mix of science and brawling. Destroyer was particularly impressive including a Bombs Away that really did some damage but it was Hennig who scored the winning pin on Page with a standing dropkick.
Commonwealth Title Match: Harley Race DQ Bruiser Brody Brody hit the ring on fire with his chain swinging. Even Morgan Dollar was heading for cover. Brody just carried on after the bell but Race has never been one to back down so it was on. Back to back big boots to the face gave Brody a one count only before he tossed Race outside. Brody followed, grabbing one of Dr. Mike Lano’s cameras and blasting Race with it. The camera was demolished and Dollar had seen enough to call for the disqualification. Race is left a bloody mess while Brody barks like a madman.
Canadian Champion Lou Thesz & Rob Van Dam DQ Buddy Rogers & “Macho Man” Randy Savage Rogers and Thesz started the match off after some strict instructions from Morgan Dollar. The action gave way to Van Dam and Savage eventually and Macho Man went to work including a flying axe handle to the floor and a big near fall after a neckbreaker clothesline. Savage came off the top with a deathjump cross body but Van Dam rolled through for a near fall of his own. Thesz was able to get back into the action and soon Rogers faced him once again. Thesz took over and nearly put away the former Canadian Champion with a GRECO-ROMAN BACKDROP. Both sides were able to tag and Savage took Van Dam back to ringside and cracked him with a chair across the back. Dollar quickly called for the bell disqualifying Savage. The action carried on after the bell with Van Dam and Savage brawling to the back and Rogers attacking the Canadian Champion in the ring. However, Thesz was able to backdrop Rogers to the floor and force Nature Boy to retreat to the back.
Some controversial finishes to the main events tonight with both featured contests ending in disqualification finishes but the fans went home happy with Canadian Champion Lou Thesz standing alone and victorious in the ring at the end of the night. Up next, the Maple Leaf Wrestling action comes from the Welland Crowland Arena in Welland featuring the Canadian Open Tag Team Titles on the line in the main event. The following matches have been announced:
**Scott Taylor has arrived in Maple Leaf Wrestling and will make his debut in Welland. However, he will need to bring his best as his opponent will be the always controversial Gorgeous George. **Not happy with the results of the match tonight, Bobby Heenan was quick to demand a rematch with the Taylors and that match will take place next week. Heenan will be once again joined by King Kong Bundy to face Tugboat Taylor and Chaz Taylor **Insanity appears to be following “Macho Man” Randy Savage in recent appearances and the Madness will be on full display in Welland when Savage meets his current rival Rob Van Dam one on one. Both men are looking to get back into title contention and will have to go through each other to get there. **Bobo Brazil will not be spending any time on the ring apron in Welland when he steps back into the ring against The Destroyer in the next chapter of this singles program **If their singles performances tonight mean anything then Greg Valentine & Ted DiBiase appear to be legitimate threats to claim the Canadian Open Tag Team Titles from the Road Warriors. They will get their opportunity at the gold in Welland in the main event of the evening.

It looks like Valentine and DiBiase are about as ready as possible heading into their title match against the Road Warriors... Hope they realize that winning a couple of singles matches (one via DQ and the other under very questionable circumstances) is quite a bit different than trying to take the gold from one of the most dominant teams in the business... Should be a wild encounter...
And speaking of wild... Thoroughly enjoying the fierce rivalry between Macho Man and the Whole F'n Show... Both of these men want a title shot and I can only imagine the lengths they're willing to go for such an opportunity... Toss out the rulebook already...
Another excellent show!

Thank you for the feedback!
Card 11 – Welland Crowland Arena, Welland, ON – June 10, 2018
Maple Leaf Wrestling is in the Niagara Region and the fans arrive early and are very vocal tonight. Bell Time!
Blue Meanie b. Wild Bill White Meanie made his debut tonight and struggled to get anything going for most of the contest. The momentum turned when Meanie was able to counter a backdrop with a piledriver that stunned White just long enough for Meanie to connect with a crossbody block deathjump for the three count from Morgan Dollar who wanted to see a conclusive outcome.
Frank Dalton b. Ron Hutchinson Dalton fluctuated between bending the rules to flat out breaking them at points as he dominated this one from start to finish picking up the victory after an ATOMIC DROP. Marty Jannetty b. Rock Riddle Jannetty made his debut tonight and was greeted warmly by the fans in attendance. The action went back and forth in this bout from the outset. Jannetty stepped up the offensive attack and he had Riddle Reeling but Riddle showed his toughness kicking out after back to back ROCKER DROPPERS. Jannetty appeared to lose from focus at that point allowing Riddle back into the match but the fans got behind the Rocker and he responded. A superkick/dropkicks combination was enough to put Riddle away. Gorgeous George w/Cherie Dupré b. Scott Taylor George took his sweet time preparing for the action on the floor drawing huge heat. Morgan Dollar was not impressed and had strict instructions for both competitors before the bell. George was apparently in bad mood and took his frustrations out on Taylor in and out of the ring. A timely distraction from Dupré allowed George to attack the knee of Taylor on the floor with a chair drawing even more heat. Taylor never got going and soon George had him on the mat with back to back ROLLING HIPLOCKS but Taylor was able to kick out. George then went back to the lower body and picked up the submission with a SPINNING TOE HOLD. “Pretty Boy” Bobby Heenan & King Kong Bundy b. The Taylors (Tugboat Taylor & Chaz Taylor) The finish to this short match was a bit of a shocker. Chaz Taylor made a defensive tag to his father against Heenan who then in turn gained the upper hand and tagged in Bundy. Tugboat Taylor and Bundy collided with a double clothesline that sent both men to the mat. Tugboat was up first, hit a cartwheel and clothesline before going up to the top. An ANCHOR DROP from the top missed when Bundy rolled clear but nearly broke the ring. Bundy then covered for the three count.
There was a short intermission while the ring was inspected.
The Destroyer b. Bobo Brazil Brazil was out to a thunderous ovation and quickly overpowered Destroyer at the outset. Destroyer countered wrestled perfectly however and was able to catch Brazil with a backbreaker followed by a deathjump smash to the leg. Sensing Brazil was in trouble, Destroyer went for win with a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK and Brazil was not able to escape leaving Morgan Dollar no choice but to call for the bell.
“Macho Man” Randy Savage b. Rob Van Dam This was intense from start to finish. Van Dam was able to counter an early deathjump crossbody block rolling through for a near fall before hitting a FIVE STAR FROG SPLASH for a two count only. Van Dam broke out the Van Daminator that busted open the Macho Man. Savage made a comeback before they started to take the fight to the floor. Dr. Mike Lano became caught up in the action and was a human foreign object. Back in the ring, the intensity continued to mount as the action when back to and forth. Late in the match, Savage tossed Van Dam to the floor and suddenly Curt Hennig appears and dropped Van Dam with a chair shot. Morgan Dollar did not see the attack and Savage was able to roll Van Dam back into the ring and put him away with a FLYING ELBOW SMASH. Ted DiBiase & Greg Valentine DQ. Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal) w/Paul Ellering This was an absolute war from the outset. Morgan Dollar sent Ellering to the back immediately in a very unpopular decision but the Warriors remained focused and went to work with an all out power attack against DiBiase and then Valentine. DiBiase was able to use his skills to get his team back into the contest but the Warriors took their offense to another level leading to a DOOMSDAY DEVICE on Valentine. Curt Hennig arrived and attacked Animal breaking up the cover but Dollar decided to let the action continue. Valentine paid the price when he was slammed through a table at ringside by Hawk. The fans were unglued as the action carried on. DiBiase was able to get back into the match and slowed things down but could not put away Animal with back to back to back COBRA CLUTCHES. Valentine attempted to submit Hawk with a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK but Hawk powered his way to the ropes. The fans could feel a title change in the works as the Warriors actually looked beatable for the first time but the action ended in controversy at ringside when Animal cracked Valentine with a chair across the back which finally promoted Dollar to call for the bell and make the disqualification. Hennig is back out and is jointed by the “Macho Man” Randy Savage who attack the Warriors. Paul Ellering arrives but is soon swarmed himself. Hawk, Animal and Ellering are left in a heap while Valentine and DiBiase hold up the tag team titles. Savage and Hennig mount the turnbuckles and taunt the crowd. The Prodigal Sons have arrived in Maple Leaf Wrestling!
Things were crazy in the Niagara region tonight with the debut of several competitors along with the formation of the Prodigal Sons faction which could have sufficient talent to take over Maple Leaf Wrestling! Up next, we head to the Oshawa Civic Auditorium for another night of action featuring the following contests:
**Although not finished with The Destroyer, Bobo Brazil is taking a break from that battle to meet Bruiser Brody in a first time encounter that has the potential to be the match of the night. **In what is being considered by many to be a number one contenders bout, The Destroyer will battle Jimmy Snuka. Both men are coming off an impressive run of appearances in the past few weeks and sit at the top of the rankings. The winner is rumored to be the next challenger for Harley Race’s Intercontinental Championship **With one win apiece, the teams of Bobby Heenan & King Kong Bundy and The Taylors will once again face off in tag team action. Despite being positioned lower on the card, the battles between these two teams has captured the fans attention, particularly when Bundy and Tugboat Taylor square off. **The issues between Rob Van Dam and “Macho Man” Randy Savage seem to grow each time they meet in the ring. Savage has the slight advantage at this point but Van Dam will be looking to get his win back in Oshawa. Will his alliance with the Prodigal Sons be the difference maker for Savage and launch him back into title contention? **Canadian Heavyweight Champion Lou Thesz will be in action when he defends his title in the main event against the man he defeated to claim the gold, Buddy Rogers

Card 12 – Oshawa Civic Auditorium, Oshawa, ON – June 17, 2018
What better way to celebrate Father’s Day than some exciting Maple Leaf Wrestling action. The top prize is on the line in the main event so it is standing room only tonight. Bell Time!
Curt Hennig b. Diamond Dallas Page This was an absolute battle from start to finish. Hennig gets into the face of Morgan Dollar before the bell and the official seems shaken as the action gets underway. Hennig dominated the early action but Page was able to counter with a DIAMOND CUTTER out of nowhere for a huge near fall. Hennig battled his way back into the match mixing brawling and his agility. The fans rallied behind Page who made a strong comeback including a second DIAMOND CUTTER but could get the three count. Hennig then made his own comeback but a HENNIG PLEX came up short of the win. Page came off the top with a cross body block but Hennig hooked the tights and rolled through. Dollar only counted to just past two this time and the fans were roaring. Page connected with a discuss clothesline that turned Hennig inside out but did not get the win. A third DIAMOND CUTTER landed but Hennig put his foot on the ropes. Both men were exhausted as the action went back and forth until Hennig locked in a second HENNIG PLEX for the three count. Marty Jannetty b. Lenny Lane Lane was making his debut tonight in this battle of light heavyweights. Jannetty had the fans into the action and took control with a series of knee lifts and back to back DDTs. Lane was in trouble but he was tough to put away as it took back to back to back ROCKER DROPPERS to finish Lane off. King Kong Bundy & “Pretty Boy” Bobby Heenan b. Taylors (Chaz Taylor & Tugboat Taylor) The bouts between these two teams continue to get more intense week by week. Heenan was cut off for a stretch early on but soon Bundy was able to power his way into control. Tugboat Taylor managed to survive an ATLANTIC CITY AVALANCHE to come back and crush Bundy with his own ANCHOR DROP for near fall. The times where Chaz Taylor was in the ring with Bundy was scary looking. Similarly, Heenan struggled against Tugboat Taylor. The finish came Tugboat and Bundy both blew up after a stretch against each other leaving Heenan and Chaz Taylor to battle it out. Heenan landed a knee drop and followed with a FOREIGN OBJECT blow that busted open Chaz Taylor. Tugboat made the save but Heenan landed the blow a second shot with the FOREIGN OBJECT to get the three count. Hawk w/Paul Ellering & Animal DQ Ted DiBiase w/Greg Valentine Things did not start off well for DiBiase who appeared to attempt to bribe Morgan Dollar but this only upset the referee rather than gain DiBiase any type of advantage. Hawk immediately went to work but DiBiase was able to get in a chair to the gut gain the upper hand. DiBiase rocked the Road Warrior with a series of suplexes but could not get Hawk’s shoulders to the mat. The action went to the floor several times and things began to resemble a lumberjack match. Valentine joined DiBiase for a double team body slam that put Hawk through the ringside able. Dollar quickly called for the disqualification. While Ellering checked on Hawk, Valentine and DiBiase go after Animal in the ring. Curt Hennig arrives but he is quickly followed by Diamond Dallas Page who uses a chair to break up the attack. Bobo Brazil DQ Bruiser Brody Morgan Dollar had strict instructions for both men before the bell . . . ya right! Brody exploded early on with a brutal attack but back to back JUMPING KNEE DROPS did not finish Brazil. Dollar soon found himself caught up in the action and taken out for eleven moves. Twice Brazil laid out Brody with COCO BUTTS with no referee to make the three count. They brawled all over the ring and onto the floor. Twice, each man was caught by the other on the top of the corner and slammed to the mat. Brazil almost gained a submission with a bear hug and later Brody used back to back piledrivers to get a 2 ¾ count. The momentum continued to go back and forth until the finish when Brody cracked Brazil with a piece of the broken table from the previous match earning a disqualification. The two then brawled their way to the back with the fans eating it up. Jimmy Snuka b. The Destroyer The fans are still buzzing when the competitors make their way to the ring. Destroyer gets caught with an early dropkick and Snuka goes to work with series of chops and a leap frog and chop combination which sets up a SUPERFLY LEAP for the three count. “Macho Man” Randy Savage b. Rob Van Dam Van Dam was on fire early on using a standing moonsault to set up the FIVE STAR FROG SPLASH but Savage kicked out at the last second. Another near fall occurred after a leg drop across the rails and Savage kicked out for a third time after a ROLLING THUNDER. Savage was able to finally counter attack using a suplex to set up a FLYING ELBOW SMASH. Van Dam kicked out and the fans exploded. Savage kept on Van Dam with a flurry of offense then then mounted the corner for second FLYNG ELBOW SMASH to claim the three count. Canadian Title Match – Lou Thesz b. Buddy Rogers The fans are all over Rogers and he gives it right back to them multiplying the heat. Thesz gains the immediate advantage and gets Rogers to the mat for some punishment. GRECO-ROMAN BACKDROP almost ends it early. Rogers rebounds but his offense is stopped cold with a GRECO-ROMAN BACBDROP counter that only get s two count. Thesz continues to control but Rogers is able to trip him up from the floor and rams Thesz’s knee into the ring post. Rogers goes to work on the leg with jumping knee smashes to the joint and atomic drops with the leg folded under. Thesz is able to catch a break and tosses Rogers from the top rope to the mat turning thing around. An incredible cobra clutch suplex plants Rogers and sets up another GRECO-ROMAN BACKDROP for the victory. Things do not end there as Bruiser Brody hits the ring and takes out Thesz with a boot to the face drawing huge heat. Brody grabs the mic and calls out Thesz for next week in Ottawa telling Thesz that he beat him before and he will beat him again.
What an ending to an intense night of action. Up next, Maple Leaf Wrestling returns to the capital city of Ottawa for a stacked card at the Civic Centre featuring the following contests:
**After taking a week off from their battle, Bobo Brazil will once again face The Destroyer in singles action **Rob Van Dam came up just short against “Macho Man” Randy Savage tonight but he will get another opportunity in Ottawa when the two go one on one again. **Battle lines are being drawn and thing are about to get interesting as Canadian Open Tag Team Champions Road Warriors will join forces with Diamond Dallas Page to face three members of the Prodigal Sons, Ted DiBiase, Curt Hennig & Greg Valentine in a six man tag team action **Bruiser Brody dropped the mic tonight and issued a challenge to Canadian Champion Lou Thesz to face him in the ring and the champion has accepted. It will be Thesz v. Brody in a rematch from April 22nd when Brody stunned everyone with a convincing victory over Thesz. This one will not be about the title but will be all about pride! **Jimmy Snuka has been on an impressive run recently and his success has lead him to a shot at the Commonwealth Championship as he will face Champion Harley Race in one of the featured attraction of the night

Just catching up on all of the latest action and as usual bookerbill you have some great action going on. I loved that Thesz-Rogers match not to mention Bruiser Brody inserting himself afterward. Thesz is tough to beat but Brody has already done it once so could we see him score another win over the Canadian champ? Although I like both guys it was good to see Randy Savage score that win over RVD in what was a heck of a match. I also loved King Kong Bundy & Bobby Heenan picking up a tag win. The Ottawa show coming up looks great.
