Heck, I thought the cards should've been in color since I started playing in 1990! IT'S ABOUT TIME!
However, I myself usually picture the B&W cards in different colors than what gets used for them online. That's never going to stop me from playing though.
In terms of pricing, and I might get flamed for this, but one of my pet peeves is how some people complain how they can't afford a single set. Example...
"I might have to wait a couple weeks to get this set, as the wallet doesn't agree right now"...
Or...
"Money is tight...blah blah blah".
IT'S TWELVE DOLLARS!
Believe me, I know the current economy has hurt everyone in some form, myself included, but you can't afford to shell out twelve bucks?!?!
Furthermore, from the immense enjoyment that the game gives me and the time spent playing it, discussing it, etc., I'd be willing to pay about $30 a set. Color, probably $40, as it doesn't add much to the experience for me, but then again, I "grew up" on the B&W cards. Nonetheless, I've always thought that the sets were a MAJOR steal at $12!
There's video games out there that cost 5X that much that I wouldn't enjoy 10% as much as COTG.
But, people's perception of price vs. value can vary.

In response to Wildfire, I agree with all of your points but the very last one. "I'm sure most of the people that post here will buy the set at nearly any price, we're not who matters..." Some of us may not buy at any price.
@ maddog1981 ... color is kind of a big deal. Look to the top of this page and you will see five colored cards with maybe one the way I envisioned it. For a game that is focused on creativity, color takes away a certain dimension. I remember a past con where we all talked about how we all saw Mutant as a different color and we all said Krakan differently. I don't play by official storylines and I like things being left up to me.

[Yes, to me color is huge.It is for everyone else too.Thats why this was a big deal either way.As far as your question, at one time I would have said keeping color over online. But now that I have printed PDFs , I could live with that. I am not saying that these cards wont be as great as Tom said they would, but I just don't need someone coloring my book for me. And I can be a little more abstract about this too.See this is the only thing I still do that has anything to do with wrestling, including TV. I NEVER liked wwf nearly as much as say NWA or early ECW. What I came to realise later ,was that it came down to production values, the bells and whistles and the way the characters were portrayed.I always like the grit way better. This move , is some way for me is like moving to WWE. And it also makes the cards more like a comic, which is how I feel Vince protrays his product. Now this isnt the end all but it is getting around to the point for me personally.

Totally awesome you have that opinion and awesome you are sharing. See I hope if some of us make a big enough stink we might get a fig leaf of B&W PDFs in the future. I'm not sure what either of these comments are supposed to mean or how they contribute to this thread. Back on topic -- Price isn't a big deal. The game isn't gonna cost $100 per set. The color WILL attract some new players and then they will stay because COTG rules. As for someone who's been playing since the 80s, I think it only makes the game better. The backgrounds really add a lot and the color makes the game more vibrant. Tom had thought about putting the game to color for a few years now but with the launch of COTGonline and the stuff he's been doing with Stan Lee, it got put to the backburner. My whole point is -- wait and see it before you start saying how bad it is or will be.

I think full color cards for COTG are great and make sense but on the other hand I hope the Legends cards stay black and white. Black and white is more nostaglic and a better fit for legends

Just to add my thoughts, not that it matters. I am reserving judgement till I have cards in hand. Most of the time when I'm playing, the cards are face down so I spend very little time looking at the art. So in the grand scheme of things, art isn't as important as how the card plays. Yes, I still have favorite and least favorite art in each set, but in the end, I can deal with art/coloring I don't like because when I'm playing the game I rarely see it. We know nothing about pricing so griping over any increase until we know what it is, in my opinion, is silly. That being said, unlike some on here, I would consider $30-$40 a bit too high for 10 colored cards. Didn't say I wouldn't make the purchase, but that would just seem a little high to me. Especially when compared to other collectable card games. Right now any FG product is a 'no thought' purchase to me. If something new comes out, I'll pick it up. No questions asked. $30-$40 for 10 colored cards would make me think about the purchase. But we haven't seen the pricing, so I'm not griping. For those who say they don't have a 'direct line' to Tom to discuss changes, you do. It's called your money. Filsinger Games has a fantastic return policy. If you get the cards and don't like them or don't think they are worth the purchase, I'm sure there's no problem with mailing them back and asking for a refund. Just look at all the people that did the same with Songs In The Key Of GWF! Example: If Tom sells 100 copies of Songs in the Key of GWF (I'm sure the number is way lower) and 75 people return them (I'm sure the number's way higher), he'll think seriously about pulling them off the shelves. Or marking them down. Or using them to fix a broken table leg. He's a businessman, the 'market' will tell him if he's made the right choice. I, too, see this as just the next inevitable step for this game we all love. From what I know right now (not having seen the cards in hand or knowing the pricing) I'm fine with the change. As long as Tom is still writing the sets, I'm in, as it's Tom's creations that make the game for me. The day Tom announces he isn't writing the sets anymore...I may have a different feeling. But as he's stated on Facebook, he plans to write 100, so we've got some time and besides, I'd still have to play 2099-2119! I eagerly await 6PM tomorrow to make my pre-order and pity those of you who have to wait till 9PM to do the same!

I think you guys are dead wrong about color cards attraction new fans. Anyone who looks at the cards and says 'why aren't they color?' aren't going to get the strengths of the game.
There are LOTS of board game companies that have very low budget products that make lots of money. Why? They have a good game, at an appealing price. A pretty package can get you some impluse buys, but only a good product gets you consistent sales.
Comparing 10 cardboard cards to a video game is absurd... they're not even in the same field. A much more logical comparison would be a pack of pokemon cards(or whatever your favorite CCG is). Or perhaps the latest expansion to Bang! or Wings of War.(Whatever your favorite expandable card game is).
I no longer subscribe to the promoter because I don't feel I get value from it. It's not because I can't afford the subscription. The same will go for sets. It's not that a person doesn't have $12, or $15, or $30, it's that perhaps they don't find that to be 'worth it'. The higher the the price goes, the more people will deicide that.
And THAT is my main concern... I'd rather have 10 good black and white PDF only sets than 1 color set any day.

I am estatic we are finally getting color cards. I think I asked Tom about this when he was in LA 2 years ago but didnt get a definate answer. Like people have said, things change with the times and COTG is making a major change with the times. I am happy about it, and I buy everything COTG, or LOW regardless, even for collection value.
Seriously, for the people that are complaining about all of us not being told until the very end, how do you play the game? When I play I am constantly looking at the stats and rolling dice. When I am done with the match I look at the front and either admire the art or dont really like it depending, but we havent even seen all the cards yet so complaining is really stupid. I really dont see B&W PDF's coming out if you make a big enough stink either it will just irratate everybody. Just my two cents.

Ok, that's just your opinion not based on anything. I have heard Tom say that when he goes to Cons, (I'm pretty sure Alex had gotten someone to color a few cards before as well as using some of Kev Knipe's color cards) that he got a WAY bigger reaction to the colored ones than ones that aren't. That's right from Tom's mouth. I really don't know what else to say on that. It's not gonna get hundreds of new players but it will definitely get more interest than things that are in B&W. It would be like seeing B&W comic books and color ones. Most people would like the colored ones better. Not all -- but most.
