CHARM CITY CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING February 26, 2012 Reston, Virginia Reston Community Center "THE GREAT SOUTHERN TRENDKILL" Season Two - Card #5 (#36)
*Commissioner Charlie Cox is out to run down tonight's card when he is interrupted by Larry Sweeney and Claudio Castagnoli. Cox is clearly irritated and tells Sweeney to leave the ring. His man has his title shot on March 16th. Sweeney says that he knows that and is very happy that Cox came to his senses but he has another huge announcement.
He would like to invite Chris Hero to the ring.
The crowd is excited as Hero does indeed make his way out to ringside and stands before both Claudio and Sweeney. Sweeney starts, " I know that the last time we all spoke we didn't leave things on very good terms and all of us were upset at losing the CCW tag team titles especially to those ignorant hillbillies The Briscoes. But the World Tag Grand Prix is coming up next month and as you both know the defending champions of that inaugural tournament are The Kings of Wrestling. It would be a crime not to defend that honor and take that prize money. So Hero and Claudio - what will it be?"
Both men look at each other as Castagnoli extends his hand. Hero does the same and the two embrace as Sweet N' Sour dances around the ring.
The Kings are the first team announced for the World Tag Grand Prix!
1) Fire Ant pinned Grizzly Redwood with the BEACH BREAK @ 10:25.
A very even match with several near falls. The Ant hit consecutive finishers to put away the pesky Redwood.
2) "Kentucky Gentleman" Chuck Taylor defeated Kobald with the OMEGA DRIVER @ 5:15.
Taylor dominated most of the action and then finished things off with his devastating finisher. After the match, Taylor took the mic and demanded a match with Icarus in Bel Air On March 16th. He also wanted to send a message to anyone in the locker room that he's looking for a partner for the World Tag Grand Prix.
3) Sara Del Rey, Soldier Ant & Green Ant defeated Los Ice Creams & Archibald Peck (w/ Veronica) when Green Ant pinned El Hijo Del Ice Cream with the SUPER MEGA ANTAPULT @ 8:47.
An exciting trios match that saw the faces rally and gain the victory after a tremendous Ant-a-pult.
4) Johnny Gargano beat "Sweet N' Sour" Larry Sweeney by COUNTOUT @ 11:25.
The match spilled to the floor and both men exchanged vicious chops. After a low kick, Sweeney set Gargano up on the ringside table and then mounted the top rope to land his 12 Large Elbow to the outside. Gargano dodged the move and Sweeney went crashing to the floor. Gargano rolled back in and Sweeney was out giving him the win. Both Claudio Castagnoli and Chris Hero were out to help their manager to the back.
5) Kodama & Obariyon (w/Kobald) beat "Lightning" Mike Quackenbush & Jigsaw @ 14:23 when Kodama pinned Jigsaw with the FLYING BLOCKBUSTER.
A bit of an upset as the demonic duo upended the vet team. Kobald ran interference and distracted the ref as they hit a double flapjack on Jig. As Quack tried to intervene the ref held him back and after a Blockbuster the victory was in hand.
6) Delirious pinned Jay Briscoe with the BIZARRO DRIVER @ 6:02.
A wild match that saw the masked man gain yet another win with his finisher. He continued his attack after the match and Mark Briscoe was out quickly. He pounded away and then tossed Delirious over the top rope and into the guardrail. Ultramantis Black, Hallowicked and the returning Crossbones were out to triple team Mark. They soon scattered as Jay recovered with a steel chair to clean house.
7) Claudio Castagnoli (w/ Chris Hero) pinned El Generico with the RICOLA BOMB @ 12:25.
Claudio was without his manager Sweeney but his now new partner Hero took his place. Castagnoli looked impressive as he gears up for a three way dance in Bel Air.
-#1 Contenders Match- 8) The Throwbacks beat The Osirian Portal when Dasher Hatfield pinned Amasis with the GRAND SLAM @ 15:45.
Some controversy as the ref was knocked out The Roughnecks interfered. Brodie Lee hit the BIG BOOT on Amasis and allowed The Throwbacks the opening they needed. When the ref came to in the confusion he counted three.

-CHARM CITY UPDATE-
-Exciting action in Reston, Virginia as Charm city makes its first stop there ever. The biggest story of the evening was the Kings of Wrestling re-uniting for the World Tag Grand Prix in March. The Kings will be defending their trophy from last season when they defeated Mark & Jay Briscoe to capture the first annual title. There were a few anxious moments as Chris Hero had not been seen in CCW since the Kings' loss at the end of Season One.
-Speaking of the Grand Prix, Chuck Taylor made it known that he is looking for a tag team partner for the tournament. Who will step up and join forces with the Kentucky Gentleman?
-What started as a great night for "Sweet N' Sour" Larry Sweeney ended in rough fashion as he missed an attempted 12 Large Elbow to the floor on Johnny Gargano. No word yet on the extent of Sweeney's injuries but he did not accompany Claudio Castagnoli out to ringside for his match with El Generico later in the evening.
-The Batiri members Kodama and Obariyon scored a mild upset over the more experienced duo of Mike Quackenbush and Jigsaw. These demons could be tough to deal with in the Gran Prix.
-Delirious continued his odd behavior and scored a win over one half of the tag team champions- Jay Briscoe. The Order of the Neo-Solar Temple was out to assist the masked madman as we witnessed yet another return to action for Temple member, Crossbones. Is Delirious now officially with the Order? I'm not sure quite yet.
-The Throwbacks earned a tag title shot in the near future with a win over the Osirian Portal. The match did have some controversy as The Roughnecks stepped in to attack the Portal to cost them the contest. Their rivalry is far from over.

CHARM CITY CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING March 16, 2012 Bel Air, Maryland Bel Air Armory "STRENGTH BEYOND STRENGTH" Season Two - Card #6 (#37)
1) Johnny Gargano pinned Archibald Peck (w/ Veronica) with HURTS DONUT @ 5:25.
Gargano dominated most of the action and even Veronica's attempted distractions couldn't help. He put Peck away with his finisher to get the duke. Quickly after wards, CHRIS HERO hit the ring and delivered a Hero's Welcome to Gargano. He stomped away and screamed at Gargano before he left.
2) Amasis beat Grizzly Redwood by DISQUALIFICATION @ 9:02 when Brodie Lee dragged the ref out of the ring during the count.
A fairly even match until Amasis got on a roll and hit the Egyptian Conniption. Brodie Lee was out and stopped the official from completing what would have probably been a three count. A two on one ensued until Ophidian hit the ring with a chair to chase off their foes.
3) Green Ant & Soldier Ant defeated Los Ice Creams when Green used the CLOVERLEAF on El Hijo Del Ice Cream @ 10:45.
The Colony was a well oiled machine and had little trouble getting past the frozen duo.
4) Icarus defeated Ophidian with the WINGS OF ICARUS @ 7:35.
Icarus got some help from Grizzly Redwood as he hit the snake man in the face with his axe handle while the ref was tending to Icarus in the corner. He then hit the Wings of Icarus for the three.
5) Hallowicked, Delirious, & Crossbones (w/Ultramantis Black) beat "Lightning"Mike Quackenbush, El Generico, & Fire Ant when Hallowicked pinned Fire Ant with the GRAVEYARD SMASH @ 12:55.
An exciting six man ended with all participants in the ring and Hallowicked gaining the fall. Ultramantis went to raise Delirious' hand but he simply left the ring through the crowd and out the exit door.
-CCW Tag Team Title Match- 6) Jay & Mark Briscoe (c) beat The Throwbacks when Mark pinned Sugar Dunkerton with after a DOUBLE FOOTBALL TACKLE @ 16:45.
The champions continued to hold on to their straps as they held off a stiff challenge from Dunkerton and Hatfield.
7) Ultramantis Black beat Sara Del Rey with COSMIC DISASTER @ 7:55.
Del Rey came close to victory a few times but the resourceful Mantis was able to turn a low blow into the end of the match.
-CCW Heavyweight Title Match- Triangle Elimination- 8) "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson beat "War King" Eddie Kingston and Claudio Castagnoli (w/Chris Hero) to capture the title.
Elimination #1 - Castagnoli pinned Kingston with the RICOLA BOMB @ 11:45. Elimination #2 - Danielson defeated Castagnoli with the TRIANGLE CHOKE @ 20:10
A tremendous match that saw Danielson finally achieve capturing the heavyweight title though he didn't beat the champion to do it. During the first elimination, Claudio backdropped a charging Danielson over the ropes and then hit Swiss Death on the champion. A groggy Kingston was primed for the Ricola Bomb and like that the champion was eliminated. Later in the match Hero accidentally tripped up Castagnoli instead of his opponent and it gave the Dragon the opening he needed. He locked in the Triangle choke for almost three minutes before Castagnoli finally tapped.

NIGHT ONE SEASON TWO - Card #7 (#38)
First Round:
1) Los Ice Creams beat Adam Cole & Eddie Edwards when El Hijo Del Ice Cream pinned Cole with EL ASESINO @ 7:02.
An upset to start the Grand Prix! The masked team used several double teams to confuse their opponents. They did a good job of isolating Cole and then knocking him out with their finish while the ref held Edwards back.
2) Ultramantis Black & Hallowicked beat 2 Cold Scorpio & Tommy Dreamer by DISQUALIFICATION when Dreamer sent Hallowicked thru the Announcer's Table with a DDT @ 12:05.
The ECW vets soon tired of the Order's underhanded tactics. The match went to the outside and Dreamer innovated some violence. After sending Hallowicked crashing thru the table the ref had seen enough and called for the bell.
3) Chuck Taylor & Johnny Gargano beat Soldier Ant & Fire Ant when Gargano pinned Fire with the LAWN DART @ 16:25.
An excellent match between these two teams that could have gone either way. The end saw Taylor and Gargano take advantage and advance to the next round.
Second Round Matchups: The Kings of Wrestling vs. Los Ice Creams Ultramantis Black & Hallowicked vs. Chuck Taylor & Johnny Gargano
4) Cedric Alexander & Caprice Coleman defeated Obariyon & Kodama (w/Kobald) when Alexander pinned Obariyon with a SPRINGBOARD CLOTHESLINE @ 11:35.
C & C hit several high impact double teams but fell victim to Kobald's interference. Coleman took the masked goblin out with a flying press to the outside. Then his partner hit a flying clothesline that kept Obariyon down for the count.
5) Archibald Peck (w/ Veronica) & Pinkie Sanchez beat "Lightning" Mike Quackenbush & Johnny Saint when Sanchez pinned Saint with the BURNING SNICKLEFRITZ @ 13:01.
Peck was dominated most of the match by the unusual style of Saint. Late in the match he used an assist from Veronica and smashed Saint with his baton. Sanchez then dumped the vet on his head for the pin.
6) The Young Bucks beat The Throwbacks when Nick Jackson pinned Dasher Hatfield with the 450 SPLASH @ 6:03.
The Bucks recovered from getting beating up most of the match. Matt Jackson hit a DDT and then brother Nick finished things off with a spectacular 450 dive for the win.
Second Round Matchups: C & C Wrestle Factory vs. Archie & Pinkie Young Bucks vs. Osirian Portal
7) Axl Rotten & Balls Mahoney beat "King of Old School" Steve Corino & Jimmy Jacobs by DISQUALIFICATION @ 6:02.
This was an old style brawl that went to the floor several times. Jacobs loaded up some powder and intended to toss it at Axl. Rotten ducked and the official caught it flush in the face. The bell was rung signaling the disqualification.
8) The Heartbreak Express (Sean & Phil Davis) beat Sara Del Rey & Daizee Haze when Sean pinned Haze after THE HEARTBREAKER @ 4:15.
The ladies struggled to get going in this one as the returning Express used double teams to advance.
9) The House of Style (Antonio Armani & Romeo Versace) defeated The Naptown Dragons when Versace pinned Dustin Lee with BLUE STEEL @ 7:35.
The self professed -"Champions of All-Europe" were slow out of the gate but picked up steam and used several double team maneuvers to wear out their opponents.
Second Round: The Roughnecks vs. Axl & Balls Heartbreaks vs. H.O.S.
10) Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin defeated Sam Hayne & "Bloody" Harker Dirge when Haas pinned Dirge with the LEAP OF FAITH @ 5:15.
Dirge was a late sub for Arik Cannon who was injured. The World's Greatest tag team took advantage and dominated the action.
11) Jay Lethal & Rhett Titus beat The Furies when Titus pinned Southpaw with the MUFF DRIVER @ 10:55.
The over aggressive style of the face painted warriors hurt their chance for a win. Lethal hit a Lethal Combination and Titus followed up with his finisher to gain the victory.
12) "American Wolf" Davey Richards & Kyle O'Reilly defeated The Barking Spiders when Richards pinned Clutch with ALARM CLOCK @ 6:15.
Not much offense from the Spiders as Team Ambition put on a clinic.
Second Round: Mark & Jay Briscoe vs. Richards & O'Reilly Haas & Benjamin vs. Lethal & Titus
-CCW Heavyweight Title Match- 13) "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson (c) pinned Jigsaw when Eddie Kingston interfered and Danielson locked in CATTLE MUTILATION @ 18:55.
Jigsaw almost had the title won. The ref had been knocked out after a turnbuckle mashup and Jig had hit the JIG N TONIC. Eddie Kingston then came down to ringside to attempt to re-claim his title belt. Jigsaw saw this and grabbed the belt and the two had a tug of war. Danielson recovered and blasted Kingston with a flying headbutt that sent him off the canvas. Jigsaw was caught into the ropes and fell back. The ref came to and Danielson snapped on his submission hold. Jigsaw had no choice but to tap out.

CHARM CITY CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING March 25, 2012 Brooklyn, New York Barclay's Center World Tag Grand Prix 2012
NIGHT TWO SEASON TWO - Card #8 (#39)
Second Round:
1) The Kings of Wrestling (w/Larry Sweeney) defeated Los Ice Creams in 2:25 when Hero pinned El Hijo Del Ice Cream with the HERO'S WELCOME.
The Kings were incredibly sharp and mowed over the masked Mexicans with ease.
2) Chuck Taylor & Johnny Gargano defeated Ultramantis Black & Hallowicked when Taylor pinned Hallowicked with the OMEGA DRIVER @ 9:55.
The Order was in trouble and Mantis motioned to the back for Delirious. The masked man seemed dazed and needed help from Crossbones to get to ringside. Once there Crossbones distracted the ref and Delirious attacked Hallowicked instead! He then rolled him back in and Taylor hit his finisher. Delirious then left through the crowd and out the exit.
3) Cedric Alexander & Caprice Coleman beat Pinkie Sanchez & Archibald Peck (w/ Veronica) when Coleman pinned Peck with an ASAI MOONSAULT @ 15:45.
The best match of the round with numerous near falls and plenty of fast action. The double team moves of C & C were the difference.
4) The Osirian Portal defeated The Young Bucks when Ophidian pinned Matt Jackson with the DUAT DRIVER @ 8:17.
Lots of fast paced action with these four. The Bucks seemed in control until the snake man was able to turn the tide for three count.
5) The Roughnecks beat Axl Rotten & Balls Mahoney by DISQUALIFICATION @ 5:01 when Rotten used a Steel chair.
The chair swinging freaks couldn't be contained and they were disqualified for their efforts.

Two teams with similar styles clashed and it was the European duo coming out on top.

A much closer match than anticipated the action broke down on the floor and O'Reilly was caught trying to again an extra advantage.
8) Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin beat Jay Lethal & Rhett Titus when Benjamin pinned Titus with PAYDIRT @ 10:01.
The World's Greatest Tag team had a tough test against Lethal and Titus but they managed a few double teams to isolate Titus and advance to the next round.

Grizzly Redwood hit the WOOD CHIPPER on Antonio Armani and appeared to have a possible fall. Romeo Versace hit the ring and a wild brawl erupted. The official had no choice but to throw it out as the teams battled into the crowd!
12) Jay & Mark Briscoe pinned Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin when Jay pinned Benjamin after the DOOMSDAY DEVICE @ 14:25.
A brutal and violent encounter but the tag champs had enough to get past the experienced duo to book a return trip to the finals.
Semi-Finals:
13) The Kings of Wrestling beat The Osirian Portal when Claudio Castagnoli pinned Amasis with a DIVING EUROPEAN UPPERCUT @ 10:45.
The re-match from 2011 is set as the Kings will face the Briscoes.
Finals: 14) Jay & Mark Briscoe pinned The Kings of Wrestling (w/Larry Sweeney) when Mark pinned Claudio Castagnoli with a CUT THROAT DRIVER @ 27:43 to win the Grand Prix!
An amazing final match between these two. Near falls all over the place. The end saw a miscommunication between the Kings where Hero landed a Big Boot to Castagnoli who held Mark Briscoe by the arms. The move gave the Briscoes a chance to put things away and win the cup. Larry Sweeney was livid at Hero and started badmouthing him. A double team began as Claudio low bridged Hero and then two layed a severe beatdown and two Ricola Bombs on him.

*The 2nd annual World Tag Grand Prix finished after two nights of exciting action as the same two teams from the 1st event battled in the finals.
