Card 2.14 New London, CT, Ocean Beach Auditorium
Match 1: Red Bastien v. King Kong Bundy Bundy made a surprize return to Legends Championship Wrestling in the opening bout after it was announced Playboy Buddy Rose would not be here tonight. The last time Bundy was in action he was suspended for one card for attacking a LCW official. This is the first singles battle between these two men in the LCW. Bastien gets the fans on their feet early on with a dive off the buckles onto Bundy at ringside! Bastien’s speed rules the first half of the match. Bastien hits Bundy at ringside a second time and the crowd is on fire. Bundy turns things around busting open Bastien off the ring post. Bastien never recovers and Bundy dominates the balance of the contest. It takes three AVALANCHES before Bastien goes down for the five count. (Bundy 5; Bastien 7) *** ½
Match 2: Jimmy Snuka v. Cowboy Bob Orton These two are well known to each other as it was the Superfly who broke Bob Orton’s arm back in the day that lead to Orton having to protect his injury with cast for some time afterwards. Snuka is out to a monster pop. It is all Snuka from the open bell with chops, backbreakers and a pair of piledrivers. Orton makes a comeback at ringside. Snuka eats the ring post and the minutes later Orton rams Snuka’s face into the ring rails. Snuka is an absolute bloody mess when Orton ends it with a SUPERPLEX. After the match, Orton tries to attack Snuka but the Superfly is ready and both men brawl their way to the back. (Orton 3; Snuka 4) * ½
Match 3: Foreign Legion w/Nikita Breznikov v. Hacksaw Jim Duggan & Giant Baba Back in Elizabeth, NJ these two teams battled to a double disqualification and promoters have been competing to sign the rematch since. This one ends quickly. Nikolai Volkoff trades blows with Baba before catching Baba with a knee to the chest in the corner. Baba is stunned and Volkoff immediately follows up with a BACKBREAKER DROP for the win. The fans boo the Foreign Legion out of the building. (Sheik 2; Volkoff 4; Baba 3; Duggan 4) dud
Match 4: Frank Gotch v. Nick Bockwinkel After a couple disappointing finishes, the fans had high expectations for something special from this bout. Bockwinkel was clearly the better man tonight as he slowed down the match with a couple of abdominal stretches and then went for the win with series of FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCKS and BOCKWINKEL SLEEPERS. At one point, Bockwinkel nailed Gotch with a back suplex on the floor. Gotch did not recover and fell to a BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER moments later. (Bockwinkel 3; Gotch 6) **
Match 5: Koko B. Ware & Johnny Valentine v. Greg Valentine & Gorgeous George w/ Cherie Dupré and Captain Lou Albano George takes his time preparing at ringside and then demands that the referee clean the ring before he will step between the ropes. The heat is off the charts. Valentine and Ware come out to a huge ovation. Ware gets the best of the Hammer early on and then tags in Johnny Valentine. We get father v. son for the first time but Greg Valentine quickly tags out drawing great heat. The story from that point on is that neither George or Valentine wanting any part of Johnny Valentine who dominates the action. Johnny eventually gets a few minutes to punish the Hammer including an ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER but cannot get the three count. The end comes when Greg Valentine gets control against Ware and tags in George who stuns the Birdman with a choke slam (ch) for the three count (Valentine 5; George 2; Ware 5; Valentine 1) **
Match 6: Mr. Jonathan w/Jim Cornette v. Bobo Brazil Last card Jonathan destroyed Brazil and the popular brawler from Benton Harbour demanded a rematch. Brazil takes several minutes to greet his fans on the way to the ring. This one was an epic battle. Both men traded power moves in and out of the ring. Brazil controlled much of the action but could not put Jonathan away even after a COCO BUTT. Every time Brazil hit a Bobo body slam the crowd exploded. Brazil did colour off of the ring rails and the referee let the action continue. Brazil survived back to back MORMON SWINGS and Cornette was in hysterics at ringside. Cornette’s distracted the referee to prevent his wrestler from being pinned after another COCO BUTT. In the end, a Bobo body slam onto the arena floor ended it and Jonathan was counted out of the ring. After the match, Brazil is not finished and downs Cornette with a COCO BUTT. The fans roared as Brazil hammered away on Mr. Jonathan until security arrives to break things up. (Brazil 6; Jonathan 6) ****
Match 7: World Tag Team Title Match – Road Warriors (ch) v. Jimmy & Johnny Valiant w/Captain Lou Albano The crowd is exhausted from the previous match but are still able to let the Valiant Brothers and Albano know what they think of them. The Warriors look like they mean business tonight and that is bad news for the challengers. It is all Warriors from the opening bell. Jimmy Valiant takes a spike piledriver early on and never really recovers. Johnny Valiant saves his brother from being pinned after a DOOMSDAY DEVICE but a second one ends it while Albano fails to cause sufficient distraction to prevent the three count. The Valiant Brothers have no offense the entire match. (Johnny V 4; Jimmy V 8; Animal 3; Hawk 2) **
Match 8: Steel Cage Match – Sabu v. The Sandman Sabu comes to the ring area and tosses a chair over the cage wall and then steps into the cage. Sandman comes to ringside and cracks a beer with his head and then steps into the cage armed with his Singapore Cane. The first man to escape the cage and put both feet on the floor is the winner. Sabu rolls clear of a deathjump early on which leads to both men straddling the top of the cage wall. Sabu comes out on top and dominates the balance of the match. An Arabian facebuster really punishes Sandman and busts him open. Sabu hits a TRIPLE JUMP MOONSAULT (5) and leaves the cage though the door. (Sabu 1; Sandman 5) **
News & Views: Greg Valentine got his first taste of what it will be like next time he steps into the ring with his father . . . The Road Warriors completely destroyed the Valiant Brothers tonight and seem well on the way to smashing the Foreign Legion’s record for longest Tag Team Title reign of 11 cards . . . Bobo Brazil had an absolute war with Mr. Jonathan tonight and promoters are scrambling to sign another bout between these two powerhouses . . . Red Bastien and Jimmy Snuka both came up short in their respective returns to singles action. However, things are clearly not finished between the Superfly and Cowboy Bob Orton . . . Dominating win for Nick Bockwinkel shows that he is still in the hunt for the World Title . . . With the return of King Kong Bundy it has been confirmed that Playboy Buddy Rose has come to terms with Legends Championship Wrestling. Rumour has it that Rose will be returning to the west coast to compete . . . Sabu won his rematch with Sandman making it one win apiece inside the cage. The rubber match will take place next card when they meet in a Barb Wire Steel Cage Match to settle things once and for all . . .

Wow! Red Bastein fought off King Kong Bundy with spirit, but Three Avalanches done him in and thats Wild! It's good to see Cowboy Bob Orton over Jimmy Snuka and Sabu winning the Steel Cage Match is all good. Another good event and too bad the Valiants were destroyed by the Road Warriors...

I feel bad for the Valiants sometimes. Their record would be a lot better if they weren't introduced in the same set as the Road Warriors.

I feel bad for the Valiants sometimes. Their record would be a lot better if they weren't introduced in the same set as the Road Warriors. The Valiants did get lost in the mix there, I agree. They never did fare well in their matches against the Road Warriors in my fed. The card in New London was a fun read, Bookerbill. Cool to see Sabu get a win back against The Sandman and the Barbed Wire Cage Match should be a real bloodbath. I liked the return of King Kong Bundy and as Crimson noted kudos to Red Bastien for putting up a fight against the big man.

Thanks for the comments guys.
It was unfortunately that the Valiant Brothers were crushed by the Warriors. I was really looking forward to shake up in the Tag Team division. Both my champions have looked really solid.

Interesting picks Crue...
Card 2.15 Boston MA, Boston Garden Match 1: The Valiant Brothers w/Captain Lou Albano v. Killer Bees The fans give the Bees a solid ovation as they come to the ring. Both teams battle evenly until Jimmy Valiant avoids B. Brian Blair’s charge to the corner and rolls up Blair for the quick three count. The fans are stunned by the quick finish (Jimmy V 3; Johnny 4; Blair 5; Brunzell 3) dud
Match 2: Johnny Valentine v. Gorgeous George w/Cherie Dupré George is out to fantastic heat and showers the crowd with Gorgie pins who quickly toss them back. Valentine came up short against George last time they met and he seemed focused heading to the ring. George gets a few spots in early on before Valentine takes control. George manages to survive a couple of ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHERS before the match goes to the floor. Valentine rams George’s face into the rails and the referee makes the quick disqualification call. Valentine loses it after the bell and continues his attack. The referee steps in and George mistakenly decks the official. Security arrive and pull the two men apart. (Valentine 1; George 5) **
Match 3: Bobo Brazil, Jimmy Snuka, Giant Baba v. Mr. Jonathan, Cowboy Bob Orton, King Kong Bundy w/Jim Cornette This one gets plenty of time. The action goes back and forth as all six men see action. Snuka takes a huge beating mid-way through the match that starts after he misses a SUPERFLY LEAP on Jonathan. The Superfly survives each of his opponent’s finishers before being able to tag out of the action. The fans pop for Brazil’s battle against Jonathan late in the contest but Brazil cannot get the win after a Bobo body slam and a COCO BUTT. Bundy and Snuka end up brawling on the floor and Bundy cracks Snuka with a chair across the back and earns a disqualification. After the match, Bundy shoves the referee to the floor and then joins in the post-match melee. Security is once again called to the ring and it takes some time to break things up. (Brazil 4; Snuka 7; Baba 3; Jonathan 4; Bundy 4; Orton 4) ****
Match 4: Nick Bockwinkel v. Harley Race Last time these two clashed was back in Elizabeth, NJ and Race came away with a disqualification win. Things go to the floor quickly in this one. Bockwinkel gains control with a double hammer off the apron and then goes for the win. Race escapes a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK and BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER but a second FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK ends it. (Bockwinkel 3; Race 5) * ½
Match 5: Texas Death Match – Koko B. Ware v. Greg Valentine Ware has the fans dancing as he comes to the ring. The Hammer is ruthless under Texas Death rules and Ware does serious colour in the opening moments of the bout. Valentine brings a chair into the ring and works over the leg drawing huge heat. Valentine grabs a rope from under the ring but Ware lands a low blow and then chokes out Valentine. Ware then hits a GHOSTBUSTER for the stunning three count! (Ware 5; Valentine 6) **
Match 6: World Tag Team Title Three Corners Elimination Match: Road Warriors, Champions v. Midnight Express w/Jim Cornette & Foreign Legion w/Nikita Breznikov There is a buzz in the arena after the last match. The Warriors are out to a huge pop. Nikolai Volkoff gives us the Russian Anthem that draws fantastic heat. The Foreign Legion are able to cut off Stan Lane early on and work him over with power moves. Cornette is able to distract the referee to save Lane from a CAMEL CLUTCH but Iron Sheik eliminates the Express moments later with a vertical suplex. The Warriors explode into the match and crush Sheik with consecutive spike piledrivers. Volkoff saves his partner from the DOOMSDAY DEVICE and then is able to tag into the match. Volkoff nearly gets the win after a BACKBREAKER DROP on Animal but the Warriors are able to make the tag and Hawk executes a perfect vertical suplex on Volkoff for the three count. (Eaton 3; Lane 7; Animal 4; Hawk 2; Volkoff 5; Sheik 6) ***
Match 7: World Title Match – The Destroyer (ch) v. Mil Mascaras These two have had several classic battles in Japan and now face off for the first time in Legends Championship Wrestling. A handshake gets things going and the fans show their appreciation. This one was a classic that unfolded at a quick pace. Counters moved to finishers and back to counters as the action went back and forth. Destroyer was willing to bend the rules ever so slightly in an effort to keep the gold and the fans let him know it each time he landed a poke in the eye or slammed Mascaras on the area floor. Destroyer escapes an octopus hold but Mascaras immediately transitions in to a bow and arrow. Destroyer has no counter and we have a new Champion! The fans explode as Mascaras is announced the winner. (Destroyer 7; Mascaras 6) *****
Match 8: Barb Wire Cage Match – The Sandman v. Sabu The actually found a LCW official crazy enough to be locked inside a barb wire cage with these two. Sabu is out first followed by Sandman. The beer is flowing and Sandman steps into the cage with his Singapore Cane in hand. Sabu does not have a chair so there will be no triple jump moonsault tonight to finish off Sandman. This one is about as sick as it gets. Both men are torn apart by the cage walls and a bloody mess just minutes into the match. Sabu traps Sandman in back to back CAMEL CLUTCHES but the blood pouring from Sandman’s head actually causes Sabu to lose his grip keeping the match going. Sandman storms back and hits three consecutive HARDCORE DDTs but Sabu raises the shoulder each time. Sandman sends Sabu into the barb wire once again then plants him in the middle of the ring with a HARDCORE DDT to earn the win and end the federation’s most violent feud. Sabu is removed on a stretcher while Sandman can barely crawl from the ring himself. (Sandman 8; Sabu 9) *****
News & Views: The 16 card reign of Destroyer came to an end tonight at the hands of Mil Mascaras. The match was one an absolute classic and fans are already buzzing about a rematch . . . Sandman and Sabu showed no mercy and got none in return . . . A huge win for Koko B. Ware over The Hammer tonight . . . Johnny Valentine gives Gorgeous George a beating but comes out of the losing end of the match. Valentine is demanding an immediate rematch . . . King Kong Bundy and Gorgeous George might find themselves in hot water and are likely facing a fine or suspension for manhandling an official . . . The DQ finish did not take away from the intensity of tonight’s big 6 man tag team match . . . The Road Warriors appear unbeatable as Tag Team Champions

It's always cool seeing Koko B. Ware with a Huge victory and pulling out the Win over the Hammer is all good and it looked like a barnburner between the Destroyer & Mil Mascaras. The Destroyer had a great run and now can Mil Mascaras do the same or will he bit a one hit champion. Wow! Blood was spilt between Sabu and the Sandman. It's pretty cool to see the Sandman Win, but he and Sabu did give up a bit of themselves in the end...
