Thanks for reading CC. The Birdman has certainly had The Hammer's number in recent matches. Mascaras started slow this season so it will be interesting to see how long he can hold the title.
Time to look at the contenders

The Boston card was incredible, Bookerbill. The Sabu vs. Sandman bout in the Barbed Wire Steel Cage lived up to it's billing and was a great end to the feud. It will be interesting to see where both men go from here. Mil Mascaras ends the reign of The Destroyer and becomes the new world heavyweight champion but congrats to the "Intelligent" one on an incredible run. The Road Warriors do look to be unstoppable and it was really cool seeing Koko B. Ware get the win over Greg Valentine. Looking forward to the next show.

Card 2.16: Hagerstown, MD – Armory
Match 1: Koko B. Ware v. Dick Hutton Both these competitors have scored some unlikely wins during their time in LCW. Hutton has made much less of an impact this season but was the first World Champion. Ware is coming off a big win over Greg Valentine last card. Ware struggles early but uses his agility to get out of trouble. A deathjump smash sets up a top rope dropkick and Ware has another win under his belt. (Ware 4; Hutton 4) dud
Match 2: Killer Bees v. Jimmy & Johnny Valiant w/Captain Lou Albano The Valiant Brothers stole one from the Bees in Boston and the Bees demanded an immediate rematch from LCW officials. The action in this one went back and forth with both teams dominating at different times in the bout. Plenty of double teaming going on throughout the match. Jim Brunzell saves his partner from a SUPER ELBOW. The Bees execute MASKED CONFUSION but Jimmy Valiant stops Killer Bee #2 with a foreign object and then ends it with a fist drop (cats eyes!). (Blair 7; Brunzell 4; Jimmy V 4; Johnny V 6) *** ½
Match 3: Harley Race v. Red Bastien This was the first meeting of these two competitors in LCW. The fans give Bastien a warm reception. Although both these men can wrestle there is plenty of brawling in this one. Bastien and Race both do wicked colour after a series of brawls on the floor. The loss of blood appears to impact Bastien more and Race takes advantage getting the three count after a PILEDRIVER. (Race 3; Bastien 6) ** ½
Match 4: Jimmy Snuka v. Cowboy Bob Orton There is a long history between these two men which picked up in New London, CT where Orton left Snuka bloody and battered. Orton takes an early advantage but the Superfly storms back with the fans cheering every chop and head butt. Orton bails to the floor but Snuka dives over the ropes onto Orton and the fans are on fire. Orton later sends Snuka into the steel post busting the Superfly open. Things eventually break down at ringside and Orton is disqualified when he uses a steel chair to crack Snuka across the back. The action continues after the bell and officials arrive to pull the two men apart. (Snuka 3; Orton 3) *
Match 5: Frank Gotch v. Nick Bockwinkel Bockwinkel is a former World Champion and Gotch won this year’s Glory Honour Respect Tournament. Last time they clashed Bockwinkel was the dominate winner. The match starts as a counter wrestling clinic. Bockwinkel is able to gain the upper hand but Gotch is able to escape two FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCKS. The momentum goes back and forth. Gotch bails to the floor late in the match and Bockwinkel rams Gotch’s face into the steel rails busting him open. A bloody Gotch cannot escape a third FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. (Bockwinkel 3; Gotch 6) ** ½
Match 6: Lumberjack Match Gorgeous George w/Cherie Dupré v. Johnny Valentine The Valiant Brothers, Greg Valentine, King Kong Bundy, Koko B. Ware, Killer Bees and Hacksaw Duggan surround the ring as lumberjacks for this one. George is out to huge heat and he takes several minutes preparing at ringside. There is a lot of tension amongst the lumberjacks and the fans can sense that they could explode into a brawl at any moment. George dominates the early action in the ring after Dupré trips up Valentine. However, George can never come close to getting Valentine’s shoulders down. Valentine is able to brawl his way back and punishes George with back to back ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHERS. George kicks out of the cover both times but Valentine surprizes the fans at ringside by executing a near perfect cross body deathjump for the three count. Things explode after the bell. Greg Valentine chop blocks his father. George and Greg Valentine beat on Johnny Valentine as the Lumberjacks brawl at ringside. Hacksaw Duggan breaks free of the melee and clears the ring with his 2 x 4 sending the heel Lumberjacks to the back. (George 5; Valentine 1) **
Match 7: Mr. Jonathan & Midnight Express w/Jim Cornette v. Bobo Brazil, Giant Baba & The Destroyer The fans are on their feet as Brazil leads his team to the ring. Baba & Destroyer were the first team to hold the World Tag Team Titles and the fans are happy to see the tandem together again. Jonathan starts the bout against former World Champion Destroyer and dominates the action with his power. Baba makes the defensive tag into the match and Jonathan rocks ringside with a giant swing for near fall followed by a full nelson swing. Under Cornette’s direction, Jonathan tags in Bobby Eaton. The Express crush Baba with a ROCKET LAUNCHER and Stan Lane makes the cover while Jonathan and Bobby Eaton hold off Destroyer and Brazil. Dominating win for Cornette’s team. (Jonathan 2; Lane 3; Eaton 3; Brazil 1; Destroyer 2; Baba 5) *
Match 8: World Tag Team Title Match – Road Warriors (ch) v. Foreign Legion w/Nikita Breznikov This is the Legion’s third crack at the Titles this season. Would the third time be the charm? Nikolai Volkoff and Iron Sheik whip the fans into a frenzy with their pre-match mic work. Sheik does colour very early on after a Hawk rams him into the ringside rails. The match gets plenty of time but the Warriors dominate most of it. The Warriors hit spike piledrivers multiple times against both their opponents. Breznikov is able to save Volkoff from a DOOMSDAY DEVICE but this only prolongs the beating. The end comes when Animal press slams Volkoff back into the ring and then finishes the big Russian with a POWERSLAM while Hawk blocks Sheik from making the save. (Animal 3; Hawk 2; Sheik 7; Volkoff 7) ****
News & Views: The Valiant Brothers continue to find ways to creep into the number one contenders position. However, do the fans really want another Warriors – Valiant match? . . . The feud between Jimmy Snuka and Cowboy Bob Orton continues to grow more intense . . . Koko B. Ware has put together an impressive series of wins and will continue to move up the rankings if he can keep it up. Koko B. Ware and a World Title shot? . . .Cornette’s company looked dominating tonight . . . Johnny Valentine moves one step closer to a showdown with his son . . . Snuka v. Orton is starting to heat up . . .

Yes. Another The Valiants versus Road Warriors Match would be Good and let's hope the Valiants can step up to the plate this time and defeat Hawk & Animal. I really liked the Lumberjack Match with Johnny Valentine winning and then the post-match beatdown was killer, but Jim Duggan clearing the ring was Classic. Man, Dick Hutton really has fallen from being the First Champion and to losing matches to the Koko B.Wares of the LCW. That reminds me of Danny Hodge in my fed being my First Champion and never rising up to win it again, but maybe Dick Hutton can bounce back for you. Another good show and I'm looking to see the Valentines lock-up, keep it coming Book...

I;m really looking forward to Johnny Valentine vs. Greg Valentine and I would love to see the Valiant's get another crack at the tag titles. This run by Koko B. Ware is amazing and I hope it can continue. Ware vs. Mascaras would be a fun world title bout.

Card 2.17: Bangor, ME – Auditorium
Match 1: King Kong Bundy & Greg Valentine w/Captain Lou Albano v. Koko B. Ware & Hacksaw Jim Duggan The Fans are on their feet for the tandem of Ware and Duggan. This one was a bit lackluster. Both teams make frequent tags until Duggan surprizes Bundy with a figure four leglock (ch) on Bundy (Valentine 4; Bundy 5; Ware 4; Duggan 4) dud
Match 2: Killer Bees v. Jimmy & Johnny Valiant w/Captain Lou Albano Albano works the fans for great heat. This match was not advertised so the fans take a while to get into the action. The Bees struggle early on and can never really get anything going. They even try MASKED CONFUSION and get caught by the referee. Johnny Valiant gets the win after a choke with tag rope on Jim Brunzell. (Brunzell 7; Blair 4; Johnny V 4; Jimmy V 3) dud
Match 3: Harley Race v. Giant Baba Baba is still looking for payback against Race for putting him on the shelf at the end of last season. Baba looks like a man possessed tonight and chases Race in and out of the ring. Baba batters Race at ringside busting him open off the ring rails and then whips him into the ring post to earn a disqualification. Race quickly bails from the ring area with Baba in slow pursuit. (Race 2; Baba 2) *
Match 4: Cowboy Bob Orton v. Jimmy Snuka There is huge ovation for the Superfly as he comes to the ring. The action between these two continues to be hot match after match. Snuka is busted open early on but managed to come back and hit a SUPERFLY LEAP. Orton somehow kicks out and then takes a beating for several more minutes before he catches Superfly mounting the corner and tosses him to the mat. Orton controls the momentum but cannot put Snuka away even with a SUPERPLEX. Orton does colour off the ring post and the action goes back and forth. Superfly regains control and climbs the corner for a deathjump but Orton rolls clear sending Snuka crashing to the mat. Orton hooks the leg for the three count. (Orton 5; Snuka 6) ***
Match 5: Midnight Express w/Jim Cornette & Mr. Jonathan v. Foreign Legion w/Nikita Breznikov Fans have waited a while for this rematch from Allentown when these two teams battled to a double disqualification. This one is over in a blink of an eye when Iron Sheik makes short work of Stan Lane with a CAMEL CLUTCH. (Volkoff 4; Sheik 2; Lane 4; Eaton 3) dud
Match 6: Mr. Jonathan w/Jim Cornette v. Bobo Brazil The ovation for Brazil is off the charts. This is a slug fest from the outset and the fans eat up every moment. Jonathan is able to use back to back MORMON SWINGS very early in the match but cannot get the win. The action spills in and out of the ring with Brazil directing the pace for the most part. Two COCO BUTTS cannot stop Jonathan. The end comes when Jonathan catches Brazil with back to back giant swings and gets the three count. (Jonathan 5; Brazil 5) *** ½
Match 7: Texas Death Match – Gorgeous George w/Cherie Dupré v. Johnny Valentine George draws classic heat as he makes his way down to the ring for the match. George actually looks scared as Valentine comes to the ring and goes to work immediately. Valentine finds a link of chain and wraps it around his fist at ringside and busts open George. George does the “My face, my beautiful face” cry at ringside and the fans love it. It is all Valentine. Valentine chokes out George with a chair at ringside and then hits an ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER but pulls George up at 2. Valentine is not finished and grabs a metal pipe and cracks George over the head. George’s golden locks are bright pink with his blood. Valentine brings a chair into the ring and smashed George with it. With the fans roaring, Valentine ends it with an ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER. George only has one offensive move the entire match! (George 7; Valentine 1) ** ½ Match 8: World Title Match – Mil Mascaras (ch) v. The Destroyer A handshake gets us going. The champion dominates the early action and it looks like The Destroyer will not last more than a few minutes in the ring. The Destroyer lifts a shoulder at the last second after a CROSSBODY ATTACK and FLYING BODYPRESS. Things even out and there is a flurry midway through the bout where Destroyer picks up a near fall with a sensational suplex and then pushes Mascaras to the limit with a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. The end comes when Mascaras rams Destroyer into the ring rails and earns a disqualification. The fans are not happy with the call but the result means we will get another classic encounter between these two. (Destroyer 5; Mascaras 5) *** ½
News & Views: Johnny Valentine declared two down, one to go after destroying Gorgeous George tonight . . . Mil Mascaras showed he is willing to push the envelope to keep his title . . . The night started slow but Snuka and Orton delivered another great match and really got things going . . . Bobo Brazil came up short against Mr. Jonathan but promoters want to sign another match between these two as soon as possible. How far can the Killer Bees fall before they hit rock bottom? . . Harley Race looks to be man in trouble with an angry Giant after him

Wow! What a Dynamic event with Mil Mascaras losing by Disqualification to retain and I loved he pissed the fans off. Jim Duggan with a surprise figure four on Bundy to win for his team is fun stuff as is Cowboy Bob Orton getting the pinfall after Snuka crashed and burn from high above. Too bad Gorgeous George lost, but I do love how Harley Race busts open Baba to lose and he's slowly chased after, another Solid event Book...

Wow, amazing squash victory for Johnny Valentine. Disappointing showing by the Midnight Express and the Killer Bees. Good win for Mr. Jonathan and here's hoping the Mil Mascaras-Destroyer rematch has a clear finish. Maybe inside a cage?
