This week we will see who is the best opener in the GBL as Scar and Pandamonium face off at last. Who will emerge as the dominant big man in the league?

Will the Armageddon continue to dominate everyone in their path? This week they face the pre-season favorite Sundragons in what looks to be a battle that can go either way.

Finally, either the Unlimited or the Assassins will get their first win this week. Will the Assassin team avoid the coming replacement rumored to loom in the coming weeks with a win at last or will the Unlimited prove to be too much for them? Let's go to the action and find out!



ALLIANCE vs. RENEGADES

:: Tyrro smashed The Saint with a BROTTAS BOMB just past the 10 minute mark.
:: Dragonlord took down Tyrro in less than a minute with DRAGONS WINGS.
:: Pi destroyed Dragonlord with TRANSCENDENTAL PLANE after a GOLDEN RATIO.
:: Pi rolled Evil Dead with several GOLDEN RATIOS.
:: Pi dominated Hybrid with TRANSCENDENTAL PLANE after successive GOLDEN RATIOS.
:: Leviathan ended Pi’s run with a NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE.

Pi: "Sometimes. If it weren't for Solstice and myself, we wouldn't be 2-2 at this point. The rest of the team needs to come up to our level so that we can challenge for a playoff spot."

Ultramantis grabs the reporter, but Panther Warrior breaks his grip and steps in.

Panther Warrior: "I guess we know now who has the better opener don't we 'Mantis? 6-4? I expected more out the team you expected not to loose the entire season!"

Quetzal: "As long as Vain and Freak continue to dominate the way they have so far; we are in a very good position to go deep into the playoffs. It's too early yet to look too far ahead but we've performed really well thus far; I expect it to continue."

Damn I was hoping for more out of Scar & Pandamonium. They both were a let down this week IMO. The best opener is still up in the air as far as I'm concerned.

What can I say...The Assassins with yet another loss. Things are looking grim for this team.

Pi dominated this week, not to mention his stab at his team. There could be trouble brewing in the Alliance.

My man Steele Freak with another great performance to keep his team alive. Way to go.

Press conference opens absent the Assassin Team Captain...

GBL Official: "I have been informed that effective today, the entire Assassin team has been released, a new team has been signed and I am pleased to introduce the new Assassin Team Captain: Nes Kincade!"

Kincade comes out from the back drawing a long drag off his cigarette and flicks it at Ultramantis as he walks by...

Nes: "That's right aCeHoles...Nes Kincade has returned!"

REPORTER: "Nes, what are your goals at this point in the season?"

Nes: "I've been asked to split the next four in order to close out the final two weeks."

FOLLOW UP: "Would you tell us about your team?"

Nes: "Our opener will be Blade Machismo, I will go second, then Tim Donst, Chuck Taylor, Blindside and our closer will be Eddie Kingston."

Ultramantis Black jumps on Kincade and the pair trade blows on their way down to the floor. GBL security pulls them apart, forces them back to their seats and admonishes them to stay there or face suspension...



REPORTER: "Quetzal, another big win, with Lycosa now questionable for your next match is now the time to make some moves?"

Quetzal: "Lycosa is ready for our next match, but we have to ensure that we can compete for the remainder of the season."

FOLLOW UP: "Does that mean you are bringing new talent into your camp?"

Quetzal: "Yes that is correct. We've invited Miss Black, Man in Black, Frightmare, Brodie Lee and Thayne in for evaluation."



REPORTER: Tyrro, Pi made some strong comments about your team's performance after last week's match; your thoughts?"

Tyrro: "I've spoken with Pi about them and understand where he's coming from. He wants to win; he feels we have some opportunities for improvement."

FOLLOW UP: "The wire says that several invitations were issued from your camp as well for new talent."

Tyrro: "That's correct. We invited Gunnar, Y2K, The Mad One and Mr. Psycho to be evaluated."



REPORTER: "Ultramantis, your team is now 2-2. Can you turn it around again?"

Ultramantis: "I'm really sick of morons like you asking stupid questions. Of course we can turn it around! There's still six weeks of action left."

Panther Warrior: "You were right about one thing 'Mantis; I didn't win a match last week, but I didn't have to did I?"

Ultramantis: "Shut your mouth cat! Or I will shut it for you!"

Panther Warrior: "Tusk took care of you didn't he? How'd that feel?"

Ultramantis pushes away from the table; as does Panther Warrior, who is goading him to attack. Again, GBL security gets between them before another brawl can erupt...



REPORTER: "Panther Warrior, is Pandamonium now the best opener in the League with his win over Scar?"

Panther Warrior: "You would think so wouldn't you? Seems like nothing on that team is worth their weight; especially their Captain."

Ultramantis: "I'm going to bury you in a very deep, dark hole and leave you there to rot! Nothing has been settled between Scar and Pandamonium! Nothing!"

Panther Warrior: "You're welcome to come try it bug boy! We'll see who is atop the standings at the end of the year!"



REPORTER: "Scud, what did your victory over the Assassins tell you about your team?"

Scud: "We've identified some weak spots in our lineup that will be addressed in the coming weeks."

FOLLOW UP: "So the talent invited to your camp this week will sure up those weak spots; are you one of them?"

Scud: "Revelation, Ripper, Olympus and Pharox have all been evaluated. Yes, I am one of those weak spots in our attack. As of this time, I am still the Captain of the Unlimited."



REPORTER: "Icarus, you're currently ranked #40 of #48 in the League; only Tyrro is below you in performance. Is your job safe at this point?"

Icarus: "No."

FOLLOW UP: "No? Would you care to elaborate on Grillz and Torn visiting your camp?"

Icarus: "No."

Ultramantis: "What part of "NO" did you not understand moron?!?"



REPORTER: "Dragonlord..."

Dragonlord: "Before you ask, yes. The Saint is #47 of #48 in performance. Yes we have brought in talent to evaluate as a possible replacement."

REPORTER: "Who was invited to your camp?"

Dragonlord: "Zeta Grey and Necro Butcher."

FOLLOW UP: "Can you beat the Armageddon?"

Dragonlord: "It's a huge task looming. We're very motivated to play the role of spoiler in this match up."

Nice. I like how you used the press conference to address the line ups.

I'm saddened by The Saint's performance, he just seems off his game.

Also interesting that The Alliance invited Y2K to the camp after his failure as the Assassin's captain.

Looking forward to how the changes develop and whether it helps out any of the teams.

You nailed Nes Kincaid's attitude for sure. I hope he and UMB end up going toe-to-toe.

Ultramantis: "We handled Pi and Solstice; beyond that - I grew tired of hearing you all question my ability."

FOLLOW UP: "Armageddon up next - can you defeat them as well?"

Ultramantis: "Of course we can fool! Scar will prove that he is clearly the best opener in the game; that the Armageddon have nothing on the rest of the league but a good start!"

Panther Warrior: "It's not the Armageddon that you have to worry about 'Mantis - it's the Bloodlust!"


REPORTER: "Panther Warrior, was that a statement win by your team?"

Panther Warrior: "Look, we faced the last place team and they nearly beat us. I wouldn't call that a statement - we pulled it out!"

FOLLOW UP: "Is Pandamonium better than Scar at this point in the season?"

Panther Warrior: "At this point, Scar is 13-4 and Pandamonium is 11-4. I would say that they are very close in talent and that it will come down to the final week of play before we know for sure which one of them is the best."


REPORTER: "Tyrro, you suffered a tough loss today; how do you rebound?

Tyrro: "Fortunately, we face the Assassins next week. They haven't improved it seems, so that will be a good rebound for us."

Nes Kincade: "Is that so? Seems to me that we faced the #2 team in the league and almost beat them - what do you think we're going to do to you next week?"

FOLLOW UP: "What is the condition of Pi at this time?"

Tyrro: "Pi suffered a stinger in his neck; he'll be fine for next week's match."


REPORTER: "Nes Kincade, what did you learn from your first loss?"

Nes Kincade: "I learned why Ultramantis is so pissed at you guys! I learned that we lost the match! We're not going to change anything because we believe we're good as we are!"

FOLLOW UP: "Do you still believe that your team will win 2 of the next 3?"

Nes Kincade: "Listen up aCeHole, the Assassins are far from finished. Next week we're going to walk all over the Unlimited and we aren't even going to buy them dinner before hand."


REPORTER: "Icarus, can the Sundragons win it all?"

Icarus: "We will definitely make the playoffs; after that, who knows?"

FOLLOW UP: "Do you believe that Maul is the top closer in the league?"

Icarus: "He is certainly one of the best. I think only Steele Freak is ranked higher, but doesn't have as many wins as Maul does."


REPORTER: "Scud, are you next to be released?"

Scud: "I know that the team management has looked at replacements for me. All I can do is put forward 100% and hope for the best."

FOLLOW UP: "You have the Renegades, Marauders, Armageddon, Bloodlust and Alliance to close the season; will you win another match?"

Scud: "I think we could win them all. If I didn't think so I wouldn't have any right to sit in this chair."

Ultramantis: "That response only proves that you don't belong to sit in that chair - you're an idiot. At best you might win 1."

Scud: "We'll certainly beat you Ultramantis, right after we finish off the Renegades next week!"


REPORTER: "Dragonlord, a HUGE win over the league's first place team; was it a fluke?"

Dragonlord: "Fluke? No. It was a hard fought victory over a great team."

FOLLOW UP: "Can the Renegades make the playoffs this season?"

Dragonlord: "We believe we can. We know that we will be fighting for the last playoff spot, but we're confident that we will be the one filling it."


REPORTER: "Quetzal, a heart-breaking first loss; where do you go from here?"

Quetzal: "We've made some cuts and signed some new talent. We'll be ready for next week."

FOLLOW UP: "Brodie Lee and Miss Black join your team; are you planning further roster adjustments?"

Quetzal: "We are going to insert Brodie and Black into the roster spots vacated by the departing members; we're confident that they make us stronger than we were before."

really intense battles this week! Down to the wire. Impressed with Maul. He's a beast! Are you using some sort of chart for you injuries? And do they happen when you hit doubles after a match? Just curious to know what/where the injuries are coming from?

Any match that ends in doubles earns an injury roll.

That is accomplished by rolling:

D6: 1-4 No Lasting Injury, 5-6 Roll Injury Chart (Below)

Injury Chart: D6
1-3 Minor Injury - Miss D3 (D6: 1-2 = 1, 3-4=2, 5-6=3) Cards
4-5 Moderate Injury - Miss D6 Cards
6 Major Injury - Miss 2D6 Cards


So far I've rolled on the first chart 11 times; only 2 results have resulted in injuries.

With this being the opening season I'm still stretching my wings on what I can do with the rules.

Originally, I was considering a Battlezone MMA fight instead of a wrestling match; using a Battleground Chart like one you would find in Battle for Cetus. I have the cage battleground chart ready to go, but I couldn't iron out the gameplay in a way that flowed well in time to start the first season. That said, it is still the way I want to go in the future - I just have to figure out how to do it right.
