I will say one thing and then I will probably never read this thread again. Swarm, it appears that you are viewing UFC through the eyes of a WWE/wrestling fan vs. the casual viewer that you claim to be. The wrestling fan is used to seeing larger than life personalities and statures. UFC's fighters don't all fit that build. UFC is branding itself as a sport and not a grand spectacle.
And certainly to say that Rashad Evans & Phil Davis look the same is not true. They have completely different builds. Davis looks like a freak at weigh-ins and Rashad always looks a little pudgier. Plus their fight styles were clearly different with Rashad being the much stronger wrestler and Davis relying on kicks alot more. I remember a few years ago you had made this same comment about indy wrestlers and now you are the Chikara guy and also seem to be a fan of ROH.
I certainly don't think this was a phenomenal event or anything but you can't always predict what fights will be FOTY. After the first UFC on Fox event there were alot of people complaining about how short that fight was. You just can't win. Their next show might have 3 of the most exciting fights any of us has ever seen but this one wasn't one of their best. Just like any other sport, some games are exciting and some aren't.

I am definitely a UFC fan. I've been watching since they ran one night tournaments with guys of all weights/sizes. I am looking at this from the eyes a business man, who's job it is to attract the casual fan.
I'm saying if Dana White wants to *cross over* to mainstream audiences he has a long way to go. That show was packed with giant MMA fighting robots, all the bells and whistles, even subliminally playing the NFL theme. By production standards, it was a three ring circus. Then we get 3 boring fights and an announcer looking at his desk for 3 hours. Shows like that will never grow new audiences.

Alright, I lied. I looked. On the most basic level I will say you are right. It wasn't really an exciting night of fights. I just don't think Dana needs to make UFC into WWE with big personalities.
Anyway, not sure if you follow the MMA news sites or anything but there was an injury (Mark Munoz) which required some last minute shifts to the fight card. I definitely think that Munoz vs. Sonnen would have been more entertaining and Bisping vs. Maia would have been good as well. Bisping wouldn't have gassed against Maia like Chris Weidman did plus Maia probably would have had a little easier time using his Jiu Jitsu against Bisping. Just my opinion.
I did laugh every time I saw Jon Jones looking down at his paper for his lines. It was like "I think *read* Rashad Evans is going to win this fight using his superior *read* wrestling." You would think he would have a little easier time ad libbing some of that stuff.
Anyway, if you look at what is currently going to be on the UFC on Fox 3 card it looks pretty exciting so far. Nate Diaz vs. Jim Miller should be a very good fight. If anyone saw Diaz's last fight he looked excellent. Then you have Pat Barry vs. Lavar Johnson which should be a slug fest. Not sure if that will be on the broadcast though.
