Any ideas you would you like to see in the future?
1-I say we update the rules for the game. They haven't changed since they started and like the charts(Last Year) its time to change them
The idea I have is maybe have promoters submit some of their house rules and the best ones become official. Some people have some good house rules. A contest of sort but the only prize being it becomes an official rule
2-For the Promoter Paper/Online. A where are they now section with maybe someone different doing a character each issue. Say I do Iron Mane. I say what he has been doing since he retired and maybe some comments on the current state of The GWF/POW/ACE Depending on which character it is

The Zone Of Lawlessness has done a couple "Where Are They Now" segments but the idea would be perfect for The Promoter.

I would really love to see the COTG universe explored more outside wrestling... Tom has created a nice setting for some good hard sci fi, it's ust begging for someone to write it.
In my head, I've always pictured it starting with JFK not getting assassinated, and the US Space Program kicking into high gear during his 2nd term...

Interesting...we walked on the moon in '69 (after a possible JFK second term)...this met JFK's goal to land on the moon by the end of the decade...how/why would he kick it into any higher gear. Additionally, JFK may or may not have kicked up the program. I kinda' feel that the program until the moon landing was a demonstration of acheivement by a generation sparked by JFK (and in his memory). Interesting to ponder. Graymar

In my head, I've always pictured it starting with JFK not getting assassinated, and the US Space Program kicking into high gear during his 2nd term... Crazy..I said almost exactly the same thing in another post and I've actually started working up a stoyline: OK…the first edition of COTG starts in 2087. But if you’ve played Early Classics, you know the GWF is actually founded in the 2070s, And in the Genesis novella, we see that the ban on violent sports like wrestling and the foundation of the POW happens during the 2050s. So, you have to assume that wrestling had become very popular throughout the galaxy before that happened. Peaking in the late 2040’s perhaps. Taking a step back, it seems obvious that in the COTG Universe, mankind had been a space explorer and established colonies throughout our solar system for years before then. This takes time. Generations, even. So..in a bit of alternative history retro-fitting…I would say that something happened after the first Moon Landing that pushed Earth further and faster into the stars. Maybe a new kind of propulsion system? Maybe Kennedy is never assassinated? Both? Either way, IMO Earth lands on the Moon in 1969, pushes onward to the rest of the solar system, has well-established colonies on places like the Moon, Saturn, Mars, and Neptune by the late 80s, and probably makes First Contact with alien races by the turn of the century (2012 for all you fans of the Second Coming). Wanna know what coincides with that timeline? That’s right. The growth in popularity of pro wrestling! In the COTGverse, the WWF or its equivalent is probably holding Wrestlemania on the moon by 1991. And, as contact with other species becomes more normal, pro wrestling starts showing up as entertainment on other planets (the way you can watch Japanese game shows on certain networks here in the US). It’s low-brow, simple entertainment and it translates easily across cultural lines. But the more violent or aggressive species (like the AniMen or Aethrans) don’t like the worked aspect of wrestling. Maybe because they already have similar forms of competitive games. But eventually you see a new form of entertainment that combines the authenticity of something like MMA or boxing with the raw showmanship of rasslin’! And by the 2030s, you begin seeing many touring groups (maybe several dozen) of barnstormers who travel throughout the galaxy, putting on fight cards, performing in front of medium sized cards, and challenging the local champions to fights. Think of it as something like the territorial days of the 1960s and early 70s. A few of those groups probably become more successful, more popular, make more money, and get more well-known. And a few of the stars become famous throughout the universe! This all happens by the late 2030s and into the 2040s. Unfortunately the sport IS real and it IS violent, and there are probably a series of accidents and the whole universe is worn out and tired by decades of actual war (the Earth/Cygnus conflict has been going on for years ). So the UFSP passes the ban and you are again into known COTGverse continuity. ****************************************************

Very interesting...the trek into the stars would be comparable to exploring new territories on Earth, and, therefore, could arise from similar predictable events...War...starvation/pestilence/sickness..overcrowding...religion...power...or good ol', GREED! For all we know, the moon landing in the COTG may have turned up signs of a much older civilization (..the Ravagers? ) which led to a greater degree of exploration. Maybe I could do all this serial style and Todd would let me include it in the Promoter?

Graymar I think it's workable... perhaps JFK staying in office ends the cold war sooner, so all that cash Regan spent on bankrupting the USSR through superior firepower goes to setting up New New York on the Moon.. maybe he stays out of Vietnam, makes peace with Russia in the mid-70s as a special envoy, and a joint program starts on the date the Challenger blew up in our universe (alternate histories LOVE playing with dates, most times) that sorta thing. @ PH: I see you have given this much thought as well I love the idea of finding some sort of artifact to push things outward.... I picture something like the Mars mission in the Ben Bova 'Grand Tour' books, only they find some sort of 'rosetta stone' that allows them to read the writings on the wall.. they could be Ravagers, that would work for me I've always had in my head that Cygnus was Earth's 'first contact'... either as outright conquers, or old school snake oil salesman types that attempt to buy the planet. I absolutely LOVE the idea of a galactic territory system... that would explain where all the little feds casually mentioned in GWF bookets came from, too. I'd want to wrap that into socialogical context though... maybe Neptune is fond of hardcore, since it was so difficult to colonize, while people of Titan came from Zen roots and like more techincal wrestling, that sorta thing. And just think, if we did a good job (and I think we could with the creative minds here) maybe Filsinger Publishing could put out an anthology.. how cool would that be?

You are freaking me out. The first chapter is a bit of a prologue done as the journal of some Earth kid working a mining rig on a colony planet. He receives a package from home fillled with care package items: cookies, beef jerky, Playboys, and some wrestling DVDs. One of the aliens working the rig notices the stuff and when our hero throws the DVD in and watches, the alien is completely mesmerized. The two have an unlikely friendship not just because they are from different species, but because Earth has begin to have issues with the alien's homeworld. Both planets have just begun to explore space and they are attempting to colonize and claim similar planets. That conflict would eventually escalate. That alien was from Cygnus. wildfire, kindly get out of my head.
