The most anticipated summer movie release drops July 20, and I'll be out of the country and can't see it until the following week. The first 2 movies are in my top ten all-time and I hope the conclusion at least comes close to living up to those.

I've been waiting for this, but unfortunately, I have to wait until next week because of my work schedule.

Not to go all Marvel vs. DC but does anyone think that TDKR can top The Avengers?
I don't think it can. It certainly doesn't need to in order to be a success and I am still looking forward to seeing it but I just find it interesting that "the most anticipated movie of the summer" will come in #2.
Early reviews are very positive though so hopefully it is as good as the The Dark Knight.
I am also curious to see what happens next with the Batman film franchise after TDKR.

I saw "The Dark Knight Rises" tonight at the Midnight premiere at the theater across the street from me.
A great movie that kept me wide awake the entire time from Midnight until it ended about 3 AM (before the show started there were alot of previews including one for next Summer's "Man of Steel.") While walking home, I stopped at the 24 hour brewery (Chicago's) located between my place and the theater and got one of their breakfast sandwiches and a glass of beer.
I don't want to spoil "The Dark Knight Rises" surprises and endings for those who have not seen it yet but, IMO, Anne Hathaway is an incredible Catwoman! I will also save you a few minutes and tell you that you don't need to sit through the closing credits because in this final part of an awesome trilogy there is no extra scene.
Although I have not seen a movie in the theaters twice since "The Dark Knight" 4 years ago, I may go back and see "The Dark Knight Rises" once again sometime this summer. A great ending to one of the best movie trilogies ever!

Just be thankful you didn't see it in Colorado...I'm not caught up in the hype at all. I had all but forgotten about the first one, the second one I saw once and thought it was about 2 hours too long. I'll probably go see it but I'm not expecting much. I mean, how many freaking batman movies are they going to make? Yawn.

Yeah, when I got home I read about that massacre with 12-14 dead and at least 50 injured from the shooting at the midnight premiere for "The Dark Knight Rises" in Colorado. That is tragic and seriously messed up. Swarm, if you did not like the first two movies of this trilogy then my guess is that you might not like this movie either. IMO the first two movies of this trilogy were better movies. However I personally enjoyed "The Dark Knight Rises" tonight and I am glad I went tonight at Midnight because otherwise I may not have gotten a chance to see it until early next week.

Good to hear that you liked it so much. I have been reading alot of reviews that are all over the place. Some love it. Some hate it. I absolutely love Batman but I have been really not hyped about this one for some reason.
I thought Batman Begins was good but I bought the DVD and have not gone back to watch it since I got it. I think that says something right there. Too much down time I felt.
The Dark Knight however, I have gone back to watch multiple times. I find it to be so exciting for the entire time. Love it. Not sure when I will have the chance to see TDKR though. Might end up waiting for DVD on it.

I saw it at midnight last night. I don't think there is any question that it is a good movie. I think Jospeh Gordon Levitt and Anne Hathaway are very good, but I think that there were some choices made that really hampered some of it. First, I think that Marion Cottilard was miscast and uninteresting. Without spoiling anything, I feel as though she had no chemistry with Christian Bale, and her story was really lacking depth for most of the movie.
I also feel that Tom Hardy is one of the best young actors out there, and while he did an amazing job with what he was given, the design of the mask really hampered and took away from his performance.
I think the movie suffered from the burden of high expectations. I went in thinking it could be a classic of our time, and I am not even a devoted fan of the first two. I left thinking I saw a decent film in which the last forty five minutes were awesome.
Question for those of you who have seen this: Do you think this movie would have been better (with some minor plot changes) if it was the second movie and not the finale? and TDK and the fight with joker was the final movie?
