Since I'm kind of getting back into comics, I'd love to hear any recommendations of other things people are enjoying. I tried reading 100 Bullets since there is supposedly a TV series on the way and I could barely make it through the first issue. Hopefully a TV series is better. 100 Bullets is one of my all-time favorites. That being said, it can be a difficult read. Especially at the beginning. It's 'thick'. Kind of like when you first start watching The Wire. You have to give it time to take you where it's going. It's not for everyone I guess.

I'd like to say I'm going to give it another shot but the first issue didn't conclude the first story so I know I'm going to have to go at least another issue with racially stereotyped hispanic gangsters, dirty cops and art that I'm not really fond of. It really just didn't click for me in a lot of ways. It's kind of like my theory with movies, you have 20-30 minutes to grab me. If you haven't done so by then, I'm probably not sticking around to the end (unless it's in the theater and I've paid $10 to watch it).

I just joined ComiXology to start reading MARVEL again and I just read in my view two fun issues (issues #1) of the new Black Knight series, I loved both issues and the story so far is cool stuff. I'm going to slowly pick other books to read, but for now Black Knight is the first series... I thought Black Knight was decent as well. Not my favorite but there's enough going on in that title that interests me to make it one that I kind of look forward to each month. I've always liked the Black Knight character and I agree with you on I look forward to the next issue and I read issue 3 today and I look forward to see what happens next with Dane Whitman... So I jumped into Venom:Space Knight and I really liked both issues and Flash Thompson is cool as a Hero and this book is fun stuff. I'm looking at maybe one more Marvel book, but I'm not sure and if I do it'll be either the Howling Commandos or that new high school look at Peter Parker in Spidey kinda seems cool...

I sort of feel like Howling Commandos is still a bit too early to judge for sure. It could be good or it could turn bad. I'm enjoying it OK so far. I didn't like Spidey much yet. It feels like such a retread so far. Maybe it gets a bit better once they move past the territory that gets covered in every cartoon, movie and comic book origin story for Spidey. I think Vision's book is the one I'm enjoying the most right now. Really interesting. If you haven't checked it out, I'd give it a recommend.

Was always a big fan of the Vertigo line... My favorites: Sandman, Preacher, Y - The Last Man and Fables... Unfortunately, I've been out of the comic scene for too long... Any fans of similar books have suggestions with some current titles that are similar to those mentioned above? Of course, I read The Walking Dead... Doesn't everyone?

Never read it, never saw it, the little experience I have with the show/comic is in board/card games.
I read the first Gotham Academy book....was quite fun actually.

I tried reading a graphic novel I got of Sandman but it didn't click for me. I think I was too young to grasp it. Maybe someday I'll give it another chance. Can you give me like a one sentence pitch for what it is even about? I've always wanted to check out Y - The Last Man and Fables so maybe I'll add those to my long list. Thanks for reminding me about them. Since I've never read any of the titles you mentioned, I probably can't provide any recommendations along those lines. Have you ever read Marvel's Alias? It's what Jessica Jones is based on and is nothing like your standard Marvel super hero fair. I enjoyed it.

The main character is the personification of Dream (known as Morpheus)... The series is more or less a journey that charts his origins, maturity and relationships with others (some examples: his older sister, Death... the angel, Lucifer)... If you look it up on Wikipedia, there's a decent overview there as well... Cannot say enough good things about it... Neil Gaiman is my favorite author and this is my favorite work of fiction, in any medium... I might have to check out Alias... Big fan of the Jessica Jones TV series... Very gritty... Thanks!

I think a good one sentence description for Sandman is this
It's where anything can and often does happen.
