Earlier today - Commissioner Charlie Cox meets with The Heartbreak Express:
Cox: "Okay. Word has come down from the championship committee. Considering your recent success in PWIS, they've voted in your favor..."
Superstar Sean: "Yes! They know where the star power in this company is! So, what? Are we the number one seed or..."
Cox: "Whoa, whoa, whoa. You're getting a little ahead of yourselves boys. The committee has agreed to give you a
chance to get into the tournament."
Fabulous Phil: "Waddaya mean, a chance?"
Cox: "The two of you will face the previous number eight seed - the winner will get into the tournament."
Superstar Sean: "Who's the number eight seed?"
Cox: "You'll see. And I can guarantee you won't like it."
INTRO
Louden Noxious: "North Carolina! Viewers around the world! Welcome! This is Pro Wrestling Independent Spirit! And this is the Spirit of Cooperation Tag Team Tournament! Tonight we will crown the first ever PWIS Tag Team Champions! Get set to witness history!"
The Heartbreak Express make their entrance into the Sportatorium. Superstar Sean struts around like they've already won the tournament: "That's right, daddy! You're looking at the champs right here!"
As they get into the ring the sound of tiki music comes over the PA. Alofa and Samu, the Samoan Island Tribe, come to the ring. The Heartbreak Express have a fit at the site of their heated enemies, realizing who they have to beat to get into the tournament.
Tournament Qualifier
The Heartbreak Express vs. The Samoan Island Tribe
Superstar Sean tries to get the jump on Alofa but the Samoan is ready and starts smacking Sean around the ring. Samu is tagged in and continues the beat down attempting pins after a couple of Diving Headbutts. A woozy Superstar Sean struggles to his feet only to get hit by Samu coming off of the top rope with a cross body block for the pin.
Louden: "The Samoans have avenged their defeat at the hands of the Davis boys last time we were here in the Sportatorium! And this isn't the end of it folks! These two teams will face each other in a steel cage match next week in Chicago!"
Winners: Samoan Island Tribe
The Samoans don't get a chance to rest, as the next team's music hits: " K-O-W. Kings! K-O-W. Kings!"
Tournament First Round Match
The Kings of Wrestling vs. the Samoan Island Tribe
Chris Hero gets the early advantage on Samu who withstands a Hero's Welcome only minutes into the match. Claudio Castagnoli is tagged in and he and Samu exchange offense. Samu hits Claudio with three consecutive Diving Headbutts and tags in Alofa. Alofa slams Claudio with a Samoan Drop and Hero has to break the ref's count. Alofa misses a moonsault allowing Claudio to get to his corner and tag in Hero. Alofa takes some shots and has to tag in Samu. Claudio comes back in and continues to battle with Samu. Samu hits the Swiss superstar with a piledriver followed by a leg drop to get the upset victory.
Winners: Samoan Island Tribe
Chris Hero turns his back on Claudio and leaves the ring area without saying a word.
Tournament First Round Match
The Naptown Dragons vs. The New Backseat Boys
Johnny Kashmere and J.D. Michaels spent much of this match isolating Scotty Vortekz. But after Vortekz hits Michaels with a Cyclone Kick followed by Death From Above, Michaels tries to leave the ring and collect himself. Vortekz follows and puts Michaels through a table with a Gut Check. Michaels is injured and counted out of the ring.
Winners: Naptown Dragons
Tournament First Round Match
The Young Bucks vs. Carolina Lumber Co.
Brodie Lee starts out against Matt Jackson. Lee pummels his opponent with roughneck tactics. Matt manages to tag in his brother and Nick puts Lee down with some high-flying kicks. Thinking his opponent is stunned, Nick climbs to the top rope and leaps but Lee catches him and chokeslams hard to the mat for a three count.
Winners: Carolina Lumber Co.
Tournament First Round Match
2 Colt Scorpio vs. The All Night Express
Cabana and Scorpio work over Rhett Titus during the early stages of this match. The turning point comes when Titus delivers a perfect dropkick to Scorpio's face and tags in Kenny King who hits Scorpio with the Coronation for the victory.
Winners: All Night Express
Louden: "The first round is in the books and we've had some surprising results. The top two seeds have been upset - the Kings will not sit on the throne and a fan favorite team suffers a disappointing elimination."
Chuck Taylor w/ Eddie Fyne vs. George South
Elegant Eddie Fyne comes to ringside strutting his stuff and showing his moves. The crowd doesn't know what to think. It doesn't take long for them to figure out what this flashy newcomer is all about. Fyne gets in the ring and grabs the mic: "Listen up, rednecks! You're about to be introduced to a true Southern gentleman. I present to you: from the great state of Kentucky, Chuck Taylor!"
Taylor takes his time walking around the ring sneering and threatening to slap the kids at ringside. Climbing into the ring, Fyne offers the mic to Chuck: "Chucky T! What do you have to say to these people?"
"Trash like you gives the South a bad name."
George South takes offense and the ref has to hold him back.
The bell rings and South steps to Taylor and punches him to the face and follows with a suplex. The crowd goes wild. South whips Taylor into the ropes but Chucky T rebounds with a flying shoulder tackle. South gets hit with a Sole Food - big boot - Awful Waffle combo and is soundly defeated.
Winner: Chuck Taylor
Tournament Second Round Match
Samoan Island Tribe vs. Naptown Dragons
The fans are treated to a wild, action-packed match. The fluid teamwork of the Dragons proved to be a deciding factor and Scotty Vortekz pinned Alofa after a Cyclone Kick.
Louden: "The Naptown Dragons advance to the finals!"
Winners: Naptown Dragons
Tournament Second Round Match
Carolina Lumber Co. vs. The All Night Express
The superior athleticism of Kenny King was showcased in this match, in particular against Timber, who just could not get any offense in. King scores the pinfall after a spinning leg lariat.
Louden: "It looks like ANX just might go all night long!"
Winners: All Night Express
Necro Butcher vs. Arik Royal
Necro begins the match overwhelming Royal with his brawling style. Royal withstands the barrage and blasts Necro with To The Last Drop to get the win. The CWF Mid-Atlantic crowd loudly cheer their hero's victory.
Winner: Arik Royal
Tournament Championship Match
Naptown Dragons vs. The All Night Express
Louden: "Ladies and gentlemen! It's time for your main event. The winners of this match will be crowned the Pro Wrestling Indepenent Spirit Tag Team Champions!"
The Dragons put on another show of great tag team wrestling. They cut the ring in half, keeping Rhett Titus isolated. Titus finally manages to tag in Kenny King who has some moments of offense but the Dragons are too much to handle this night. They perform a Double Dragon with Dustin Lee getting the pin.
Winners: Naptown Dragons
Louden Noxious and Charlie Cox join the victorious Naptown Dragons in the ring while the fans cheer the great showing the team made tonight. Cox presents the PWIS championship belts to Lee and Vortekz: "Congratulations, gentlemen. Tonight you exemplified what this tournament was all about. The Spirit of Cooperation which is great tag team wrestling!"
The new champs hold the belts up high for all to see.
AFTERMATH
The camera comes around the corner in a backstage hallway to see two men kicking and stomping another man who is on the ground. It is Adam Pearce and Ken Doane putting the boots to 2 Cold Scorpio. Someone pushes past the cameraman. It's Colt Cabana running to his friends aid: "Hey! Hey!"
The two assailants retreat but Pearce hesitates, calling back to Cabana: "We told you there would be consequences! We're not through with the two of you!"
