Masters and the Major Players announced their presence with plenty of bluster to open the show... It was great to see them put in their place by the Godz of Destruction... And in rather short order, I might add... Enjoyed the malevolence of Danhausen, even after losing his one-on-one encounter with Jordan Oliver... The six-man scramble was lots of fun... And I'm really looking forward to the inevitable showdown between the Von Erichs and recently crowned tag champs, Aussie Open.
Nick f'n Gage brought things to a memorable climax with his Invitation to Violence... Let's have a moment of silence for the poor, unfortunate soul known as Wes Barkley... Some people just don't know when to back off... Ouch!
Once again, PWIS delivered some awesome in-ring action with no shortage of drama tossed into the mix... Awesome stuff!

The revival of PWIS has been nothing short of exceptional. Congrats to Aussie Open on their tournament victory and championship win. They have a tough challenge in the Von Erich's upcoming, and I'm psyched to see how Ross & Marshall VE will fare in PWIS.
The Nick Gage "Invitation to Violence" was epic. Speaking of epic, Danhausen! Even though it was a losing effort he brought the very nice, very evil with him.

Yeah, Masters and Co have stumbled coming off the blocks. I need to have a talk with the dice. And poor Maserati Wes. He's gonna need your prayers. His nightmare has only just begun. Thanks for following along!

Even though it was a losing effort he brought the very nice, very evil with him. Thanks for the kind words! I wasn't sure I would get their cards in time for the tournament so they didn't make the cut but the Von Erichs were able to make their presence known. They will be Aussie Open's first challengers and it could be a classic. That match will happen a little bit down the road. I don't have any long term plans for Danhausen at the moment but I had to get him in on a show (he is in my avatar pic after all). He did a good job - he was entertaining and put over one of the up and coming regulars. Perfect appearance. I'm sure we'll see him again. I'm giving Nick Gage a good build and the Invitation To Violence rolled out as I hoped (he only had one token after 4 opponents). I'm trying to keep Gage strong because he has a big program coming up. He's gotta look like 'The King' if I plan to have an usurper...

Very nice, very evil Love that Danhausen and look forward to his next appearance/ I really like how you are using Nick Gage and that is very impressive getting just four tokens on him. Thankfully the dice have agreed with your plans thus far. I just introduced the Ross & Marshall Von Erich into my fed as well. I literally had them booked the second their cards were announced, it is so cool having them in the game.

Been To The Show
Video clip backstage at "The Irony of Man" - Joe Dombrowski talks to Chris Masters and the Major Players.
Joe: "Chris, it appears you have formed an alliance with Matt Cardona and Brian Myers here. What do you call your group?"
Chris: "Joe, you can refer to us as Been To The Show."
Joe: "Now, I've heard you reference that before. What exactly does Been To The Show mean?"
Chris: "How long have you been in the wrestling business?"
Joe: "Well... quite a while now."
Chris: "And you don't know what Been To The Show means?"
Joe: "Could you explain it? For our viewers..."
Chris: "Yeah, for your 'viewers'. I'm talking about The Show. The Grandest Stage of Them All. The one show each year that every wrestler dreams about one day main event-ing. Well, ya know what? Not many can say they've done that. Not many can say they've even been to the show. Only an elite few. I've been to the show. These two have been to the show. (Masters looks at Cardona and Myers) I mean, you guys were just in the pre-show... (Cardona and Myers look at each other a little offended) But anyway..."
Joe: "Ok, then, I have to ask - when was the last time you were at The Show?"
Masters just glares at Joe.
Joe: "So... why haven't any of you been at The Show lately?"
Masters continues to glare then just smiles.
Chris: "Jealousy and fear."
Matt: "That's right! Why do you think they're always coming after Tom Brady? Because they aren't Tom Brady. When you're the GOAT, they're always trying to pull the rug out from under you. Because they can't beat you fair and square. So they lie and politic trying to find a way to get rid of you."
Chris: "See, Joe, while we have Been To The Show, it doesn't mean the Show deserves us. Besides, everywhere we go, even this podunk promotion, we are the Show."
Joe: "Ok. Let me ask you one last question - which one of you is the GOAT?"
Chris: "I am. Obviously."
Brian: "Hey! Wait a minute..."
Matt: "No! No, see? Right there. He's doing it."
Joe smirks.
Chris: "Oh, you're real clever, Dombrowski. We're outta here."

Yeah, Danhausen liked the human monies. After I took that picture, the promoter of the show asked me if I had a bag of human teeth for him as well. That was a NO. lol

I love that he is in AEW now, just wish they would use him a little more. Also I just realized that about the tokens, yeah one token is even more impressive.

Pop-Up Pre-Show #1: Absolute Intense Wrestling The Odeon
Cleveland, OH April 22, 2022Commentary: Joe Dombrowski
Ring Announcer: Larry Legend
Referee: Tom Dunn
All matches contested under Level 1 Rules (strict).
Joe: “Welcome, everyone, to the first of what we hope will be many PWIS pop-up events hosted by our partner promotions. Tonight, we are in Cleveland, Ohio with AIW. We have 60 minutes of action coming your way starting…right now!”
Larry legend makes the introductions and the first competitor to come out is Madman Fulton. “Alwayz Ready” Matt Cardona is out next and he is reluctant to enter the ring with the towering Fulton. He stalls and gets into it with the fans at ringside.
Joe: “Cardona is not a favorite of the AIW fans and he’s unlikely to endear himself to the PWIS faithful either.”
Matt Cardona vs. Madman Fulton
Joe: “Cardona is part of Chris Masters’ Been To The Show group and they have developed some bad blood with Fulton and the Godz of Destruction.”
Cardona escapes an opening suplex attempt by Fulton and twice catches the charging Madman with a flapjack. Cardona scales the buckles for a flying elbow drop. Hangman’s Neckbreaker by Matt but he misses the subsequent 2nd rope missile dropkick. Fulton uses a snake eyes big boot combo to level Cardona. Fulton covers for a two count. It’s Fulton’s turn to go to the top for Madness Airlines. Cardona kicks out at two again. Matt evades an attack by Fulton and cuts the big man down with some heavy strikes. Cardona keeps chopping away and doubles up on the Hangman’s Neckbreakers. A cover and Fulton’s shoulder is up at two. Matt throws everything at Fulton but he won’t stay down. Jumping Leg Lariat connects! 1-2-3. Cardona’s hand is raised.
Winner: Matt Cardona
After Cardona leaves, PB Smooth steps through the curtain and stares down Fulton, grinding his fist into his palm.
Joe: “Fulton and PB Smooth have unfinished business from our return show back in January. Will they meet in the ring again? Only time will tell.”
Video segment:
Earlier tonight
Backstage, Joe Dombrowski is approached by Joshua Bishop.
“Joe, have you heard from Wes? He’s supposed to be on the main show tonight but nobody's seen him.”
“I haven’t had any contact with him either. He was supposed to appear for us tonight as well.”
“Hmm. That’s not like him.”
“If I hear anything, I’ll let you know.”
“Ok. Thanks, Joe.”
Josh Prohibition vs. Jordan Oliver
Joe: “Prohibition is iconic in the Cleveland scene and Jordan Oliver may learn some things tonight.”
Prohibition quickly sets up Oliver for a Death Valley Driver and looks to end it early but only gets a two count. Josh doesn’t let up and goes for a Drunken Driver. Jordan again kicks out at two. Oliver works to get in some offense but Josh controls. Oliver gets off a uranage and follows with a German suplex and a Klout Krusher. Pin attempt for two. Verdi Kick, Clout Cutter. Prohibition gets a shoulder up. Clout Cutter again! Strong kick out. Verdi Kick and a third Clout Cutter. Josh refuses to be pinned! Another Verdi Kick, another near fall. Fourth Verdi Kick. 2.8! Prohibition starts a comeback but Oliver catches him with a counter roll up off the ropes for the three count!
Joe: “The youngster just outsmarted the veteran. Unbelievable.”
Winner: Jordan Oliver
Joe: “Right now, I’m joined by AIW mainstay, Louis Lyndon. Louis, we just saw Jordan Oliver win a big match. You defeated him on our return show. Can we hope to see you in a PWIS ring again in the future?”
Luis: “You never know, Joe. You never know.”
Matt Cross vs. Tony Deppen
Joe: “Wes Barkley couldn’t make it tonight but Matt Cross is a more than suitable stand in for this next match. Though I am concerned about Wes. I hope he’s alright.”
Louis: “Matt Cross IS Cleveland wrestling.”
The match starts with a rapid fire exchange of counters until Deppen locks Cross in an STF. Two dropkicks to the knee hobbles Cross. Tony with a double stomp and cover for a one count. Another double stomp and Tony reapplies the STF. Cross escapes to the floor and drags Deppen out with him and smashes him into the barricade. Cross shows his athleticism with a Flagpole Splash. Space Flying Tiger Drop wipes out Deppen. Cross goes for broke with Death From Above. Everyone thinks it’s over except Deppen, who kicks out at the last moment. Matt pummels Tony who flails trying to get back into the match. A dropkick to the knee steals Cross’ momentum. Deppen hits a brutal Back of Head K.O. Blow that lives up to its namesake. Cross is out cold and Tony gets the pin.
Louis: “Pop! That’s how it’s done, Joe.”
Winner: Tony Deppen
Joe: "I want to thank Louis Lyndon for being with us. Now he's off to prepare for his match on the main show."
Philly Marino Experience vs. Ironbeast
Joe: “The Philly Marino Experience are the top tag team in AIW but I would put Ironbeast up against any team in the world.”
KTB quickly gets the AIW crowd on his side as he rag-dolls Marino Tenaglia all over the ring. After much abuse, Marino makes the much-needed tag. Philly Collins tries to belly to belly suplex KTB but he doesn’t budge. PME hit KTB with a Midnight Climax to turn the tide. A spinning side effect by Philly has KTB reaching for the tag. Shane Mercer gets a taste of Philly’s spinning side effect as well. White Water Landing and a corner hip attack leave Mercer bleary on the mat. Mercer has to tag out. As KTB is starting to get things going, PME cut him off with another Midnight Climax. Marino for the pin. Solid two count. Smooth Move by Tenaglia and he goes for another cover. Two. Marino connects with an apron penalty kick. He goes for it again but KTB catches his leg and gives him a Beasthammer on the ring apron. Marino is on the floor trying to crawl away. Mercer tags back in. He Lawn Darts Marino into the corner but gets a boot to the face when he charges in after. Tenaglia tries a back slide but Mercer holds his ground and, with a an incredible show of strength, flips Marino around like he was a child and gives him a tombstone. Two more tombstones and a Gif Plex & powerbomb combo by Ironbeast wipe out Marino. KTB stays aggressive but takes a hurricanrana, allowing Marino to tag out. KTB and Collins struggle back and forth until Marino comes back in and PME strike with Sunset Dreams for the win.
Winners: Philly Marino Experience
Joe: “And PME pull out the win! Well, that’s all we have time for. Be sure to follow us on social media and watch for us on PWIS-TV. You never know when we might… pop up. Goodnight!”
