[PRESHOW] Roderick Strong says two years ago that Davey Richards scored the biggest upset fluke win in wrestling history when he beat Strong at Final Battle. Roddy says that tonight, he's going to take back the ROH World Championship and break Davey's back in the process.
[PRESHOW] We see Eddie Edwards outside the building. Edwards talks about the Final Battle match with Curt Hennig, saying it's a dream match for him but first he has to get past a man with a lot of momentum in Mike Bennett. Edwards brings up Bennett beating Jay Lethal and says it's impressive, but as Lethal as Jay is, he's not Die Hard and Bennett will find that out tonight.

[RECAP] Mike Bennett defeated Jay Lethal at the last show, "Bluegrass Brawl", in convincing fashion to earn his Pure Wrestling Championship match tonight!

4.) ROH Pure Wrestling Championship: Eddie Edwards (ch) beat Mike Bennett with Maria and Brutal Bob in 12:19 with Die Hard. Bennett used two rope breaks, Edwards used one. [***]
5.) No Disqualification Match for the ROH World Tag Team Championship: Laughter7 of Katsuyori Shibata and Kazushi Sakuraba (ch) beat Jay and Mark Briscoe in 12:33 when Shibata used the PK on Jay Briscoe. [****1/4]

[INTERMISSION] Nigel McGuinness is in his office and announces that with Laughter7 and Future Shock both being victorious tonight, that both teams will advance to Final Battle in a Tag Team Championship match. Nigel also announces that if Generico ties the Best of 3 Series a 1 a piece, the final match in the series with Steen will be a Last Man Standing match.
[INTERMISSION] Lou Thesz says that Tamura lost tonight, but the loss wasn't one to be ashamed of because Bryan Danielson proved himself to be a great wrestler, one that Thesz would be proud to have in his camp. Thesz says that Joe is not one of those men and tonight, Takada will defeat him and go on to become the ROH World Champion at Final Battle.

6.) Falls Count Anywhere in the State of Florida!: El Generico beat Kevin Steen in 22:31 when Generico used a Brainbuster on Steen after Jimmy Jacobs accidentally hit Steen with a Spear. After the match, Steen slapped Jacobs and shoved Corino before leaving alone. [***1/2]

[BACKSTAGE] Samoa Joe is taping his hands, preparing for the upcoming match with Nobuhiko Takada. Joe says that tonight, another UWFi legend falls in his own match. Joe says that nobody has been able to bring him to a full stop since coming to Ring of Honor, and that won't change tonight. Nobody can save Takada because Joe's going to kill him.

7.) UWFi Rules, Samoa Joe's ROH World Championship Match at Final Battle on the line: Samoa Joe beat Nobuhiko Takada in 19:47 with the Rear Naked Choke. [****1/4]
8.) ROH World Championship: Davey Richards (ch) beat Roderick Strong with Truth Martini in 47:20 with the Ankle Lock. [****]

[POST MATCH] Roderick Strong hits Richards with a high knee and Death By Roderick. Martini gets in the ring to pose with Strong, who lays him out with a Sick Kick. Roderick says he's done listening to everyone else, if he's going to get the belt back, he's gonna have to do it by himself.
[POST SHOW] Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly are with Veda Scott in the parking lot. O'Reilly says he's already been in the ring with Sakuraba and came as close as anyone has to defeating him and that Shibata may be the man winning the matches, he's not above defeat either. Cole says that he was Pure Champion for a year and he's going to add to his ROH Resume by being one half of the team that sends Laughter7 packing and becoming the new Tag Team Champions.

Three Huge Championship Matches Plus Generico and Steen's Feud Ends on the Biggest Card in ROH History!

At our last event in Fort Lauderdale, the main event of Final Battle became a whole lot clearer as Samoa Joe defeated Japanese legend Nobuhiko Takada to retain his Championship match at Final Battle and Davey Richards bested Roderick Strong once again to retain the ROH World Championship meaning it's Joe vs. Richards in Manhattan!

Richards and Joe both had similar comments to make to ROHWrestling.com, that it's an honor to face a man that they feel embodies the spirit of Ring of Honor and that this is the biggest match of both men's lives. Joe says he will leave Manhattan with the gold, Richards says he'll emerge victorious. Richards has had a particularly tough road to go the past several shows. Is the champion losing steam or just catching his second wind?

Kevin Steen and El Generico's rivalry has spanned the history of this promotion and as we saw at Richards vs. Strong III, Generico defeated Steen to force a third and final match in this Best of 3 Series between the two. Nigel McGuinness announced that it will be a Last Man Standing match at Final Battle with SCUM banned from ringside, but the twist is they're banned at the request of Steen! Steen explained that he wants Generico's downfall to be at his hands, nobody else's. Can Steen vanquish his greatest foe, or will Generico exorcise the demon that's haunted him for years?

We found out that "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig would be challenging for the Pure Wrestling Championship at Final Battle, but we didn't know who he'd be facing at the time. At Richards vs. Strong III, Eddie Edwards bested Mike Bennett to go on to Final Battle to what Edwards described as a dream match. Curt Hennig told ROHWrestling.com that he picked the Pure Championship because it reminded him of the WWF Intercontinental Championship he held on multiple occasions. Hennig said it's the working man's title and he wants to test the Pure Champion in Manhattan.

The final Title match announced for Final Battle will see Laughter7 take on Future Shock in what may be the most interesting match Laughter7 have had in Ring of Honor to date. Kyle O'Reilly faced Sakuraba in one-on-one competition and despite losing, gained Sakuraba's respect. Shibata, on the other hand, has respected no one since coming to ROH and has been the man dishing out most of the losses to teams in ROH, despite losing a match to Roderick Strong. At Final Battle, can Future Shock end the reign of the most dominant team ROH has ever seen?

Roderick Strong answers Ogawa's challenge, Elgin looks to take out the Rainmaker and a huge Tag Team Dream Match Signed for Final Battle!

Before our last even in Florida, Naoya Ogawa and Antonio Inoki issued a challenge to Ring of Honor for Final Battle. At the time, Ogawa targeted the entire roster and said that regardless of opponent, Inokism would rule in Manhattan. True to form, Roderick Strong has taken up the challenge of Ogawa but conspicuous by his absence is Truth Martini. When asked, Roderick had this to say:

"What has that freak done for me lately? He had the chance to help the only guy who stuck with his worthless ass to regain the World Championship and what did he do? Not a thing. I see why Elgin, Rhino, Sid and everyone else told you to piss off, Truth. I'm going to get my title back and I'll do it on my own, but first I'm gonna take out Ogawa in New York. You say Inokism will rule? I don't know what the hell that is, but I'm gonna make you feel pain at Final Battle. I'm going to break your back and you're going to tap out, Ogawa."

Kazuchika Okada had a spectacular second year in Ring of Honor as he blazed through Survival of the Fittest before losing to Samoa Joe in the final. That was a loss he would later avenge, and since that day he's only dropped one match to Adam Cole. Okada returns to ROH at Final Battle to take on another man looking to get back into the World Championship picture in "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin. When these two up and coming superstars collide, who leaves with a victory?

Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin have been absent for much of this year in ROH competition, but they will return for one final match in ROH at Final Battle as they take on the superstar team of James Storm and Bobby Roode, collectively known as Beer Money! Both teams declined to comment, citing the training schedules for this huge match.

That's seven huge matches already announced and there's plenty more to come for the biggest show in the history of ROH! Stay tuned as we round out the card for Final Battle III!

A Rematch From Last Year, ANX Explodes, Dem Boys take on the returning Young Bucks and TJP takes on Project Ciampa at Final Battle!

The card for Final Battle III: Richards vs. Joe, was finalized today with several big matches and the first of which is a rematch from last year's event as Bryan Danielson takes on "The Prodigy" Mike Bennett. If you recall, Danielson was in the middle of a losing streak and needed to pick up a win. The match went to a time limit draw with Bennett refusing a five minute overtime period. This led direction to Danielson's attitude change this year, knocking out Kyle O'Reilly and Eddie Edwards and disrespecting a man who was his protege in many ways, ROH World Champion Davey Richards.

This year, Bryan gets a rematch against a man who also needs a bit of momentum after failing to capture the ROH Pure Wrestling Championship from Eddie Edwards. Who will leave Manhattan with the momentum?

Rhett Titus and Willie Mack failed to beat Future Shock to gain another shot at Laughter7, and Willie Mack laid out Rhett Titus after the match. Titus issued the challenge for Final Battle to Willie Mack and today the match was made! At Final Battle, we'll find out who the better man in ANX is as the two collide for the first time!

The Young Bucks haven't been seen much since their loss to Laughter7 last year at Final Battle. The Bucks are coming off of a near year long reign as NWA Tag Team Champions and they won CZW's Aerial Assault Tag League just last month and they're looking to get into the ROH World Tag Team Championship picture. In Manhattan, they'll take on a hungry and focused Jay and Mark Briscoe. This is sure to be a barn burner with either team becoming a top contender with a victory.

And finally, TJ Perkins will return to Ring of Honor to take on Tommaso Ciampa. The story here is they had a 10 minute time limit draw in NWA Hollywood on the last show and Ciampa attacked Perkins after the match. Can Perkins put down the Sicilian Psychopath?

1.) Tommaso Ciampa beat TJ Perkins in 6:14 with Project Ciampa. [**]
- A very quick but entertaining opening match for the biggest event of the year. Perkins has been on something of a roll in CZW, winning the Best of the Best tournament and he was looking to take down his NWA Hollywood rival Ciampa here. Ciampa, who save for the draw with Perkins, is riding a 19 match win streak in NWA Hollywood, had no problem disposing of "Technical Lightning" with his signature Project Ciampa finishing move.

[ROH Year Three Moment] Samoa Joe wins a fifty one minute Survival of the Fittest Final to earn a Ring of Honor World Championship Match! (Card #23, Survival of the Fittest III)

2.) The Young Bucks of Nick and Matt Jackson beat Jay and Mark Briscoe in 15:43 with More Bang For Your Buck on Mark Briscoe. [***]
- A good back and forth match between two of the top teams in ROH and it was a fitting follow up to their Hell Freezes Over match from nearly two years ago. The Bucks were firing on all cylinders here, shutting Dem Boys down every time they attempted to build momentum. There was one instance when Jay and Mark seemed to have it all going their way, but they were caught off guard by Early Onset Alzheimer's which set up the Bucks hitting More Bang For Your Buck and winning the match.

[ROH Year Three Moment] Laughter7 defeated The All Night Express via TKO in a classic, hard hitting match! (Card #25, Death Before Dishonor III: Richards vs. Danielson)

3.) Willie Mack beat Rhett Titus in 2:16 with Dat N-gga Dead.
- Mack jumped Titus during his entrance and mauled him for pretty much the entire duration of this match. The crowd were firmly behind Willie here and while it lasted, they were pretty much chanting his name. Willie debuted his new finisher, which is a flipping release variation of a Regalplex.

[ROH Year Three Moment] Kazuchika Okada defeats Samoa Joe in a Survival of the Fittest Finals Rematch! (Card #25, Death Before Dishonor III: Richards vs. Danielson)

4.) Kazuchika Okada beat Michael Elgin in 8:52 with the Rainmaker. [***3/4]
- Okada was the favorite from the crowd here and Elgin's full steam ahead approach would end up being his undoing. While this wasn't the longest match on the show by any means, it had a lot of action and Okada reversing the Elgin Bomb into a reverse frankensteiner turned everything around as that was followed up by the Rainmaker to end the match. Okada shook Elgin's hand after the match.

[ROH Year Three Moment] Bryan Danielson knocks Eddie Edwards unconscious in a Tag Team Dream Main Event! (Card#24, Best in the World)

5.) Final Battle II Rematch: Bryan Danielson beat Mike Bennett with Maria and Brutal Bob in 13:18 via ref stoppage due to excessive bleeding. [****]
- This was completely different than their match from last year's show. They had a technical kind of match last year, this was just a fight. Danielson attacked before the bell and it was basically Danielson's aggression vs. Bennett's ability to survive. Bennett was busted open by an elbow from Danielson early on and by the end of the match the cut was pretty wide open. Danielson started landing hard shots with the elbow and the referee called a stop to the match.

[ROH Year Three Moment] For the second time in ROH history, the World Championship match goes the distance as Davey Richards takes on Adam Cole in an all time classic! (Card#28, Bluegrass Brawl)

6.) First Time Ever: Beer Money of James Storm and Bobby Roode beat Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team of Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin in 12:40 when Storm used the Last Call on Haas. [***1/4]
- Not an all time classic by any means but the fans were not happy to see either of these teams, spouting negative chants for the majority of the match. It should be noted, however, they cheered Beer Money during their entrance. Basic mainstream American tag team match, and not much else. Haas and Benjamin flipped off the fans after the match and oddly enough, Beer Money got a "Please come back" chant.

[ROH Year Three Moment] Future Shock defeat the All Night Express to become Number One Contenders to the Tag Titles! (Card #29, Richards vs. Strong III)

7.) ROH World Tag Team Championship Match: Future Shock of Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly beat Laughter7 of Katsuyori Shibata and Kazushi Sakuraba (ch) in 18:11 when Cole used the Florida Key on Shibata to become the fourth champions. [****]
- O'Reilly and Sakuraba matched up very well here, as they did in their previous match but the real money match up here was Shibata and Cole. Shibata busted Cole's mouth open with a kick early on and had Cole pouring blood from the mouth. Cole spit blood on Shibata and Shibata started to tee off but Cole fought back and the two brawled around ringside. Saku and KO had some great mat wrestling exchanges that ended in stalemates each time and a really slick Guillotine from KO as a counter to Saku's armbar. The last few minutes were crazy, with Cole looking like a victim of a shotgun blast refusing to stay down for Shibata and eventually hitting the Superkick and the Florida Key to win the tag belts. Sakuraba raised O'Reilly and Cole's hands after the match while Shibata left.

[ROH Year Three Moment] Roderick Strong defeats Katsuyori Shibata in a brutal, hard hitting battle! (Card #27, Glory By Honor III: Fight of the Century)

8.) Special Challenge Match: Roderick Strong beat Naoya Ogawa with Antonio Inoki in 6:24 via TKO after a Sick Kick. [***]
- This was an odd match. It was kind of shoot style, but kind of not. Ogawa is a really weird guy to have in ROH but his cocky prick gimmick works and Inoki was tremendous on the outside of the ring. Ogawa hit the STO and Roddy sold it like he was knocked out. Ogawa went to pick him up, Strong hit a jumping knee and the Sick Kick to win the match. Very short and intense match.

[ROH Year Three Moment] Eddie Edwards beat Fit Finlay to prove that he is the best Pure Wrestler in the world! (Card #25, Death Before Dishonor III: Richards vs. Danielson)

9.) ROH Pure Wrestling Championship: Eddie Edwards (ch) beat "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig in 22:22 with an inside cradle as a counter to the Perfect Plex. Both men used all three rope breaks. [****]
- This is probably as technical a match as you'll see on this show. Lots of mat exchanges and the fans were very appreciative. This went very late in the show and with no intermission, so the fans being this into the match is kind of surprising. Edwards hit a suicide dive and attempted to follow with another but crashed and burned on the floor, leading to a near countout. Hennig was smart about using his rope breaks, having only used one around the 15 minute mark whereas Edwards had used two. Hennig kicked out of Die Hard and fought off another attempt before setting up the Perfect Plex which lead to his downfall. They had a show of respect after the match and Hennig called Edwards one of the best wrestlers he's ever faced.

[ROH Year Three Moment] Steve Corino and Kevin Steen beat El Generico and Jay Briscoe in one of the most violent cage matches in wrestling history in front of a sold out crowd! (Card #27: "Glory By Honor III: The Fight of the Century": Chicago, IL)

10.) Double Main Event I - Last Man Standing: El Generico beat Kevin Steen in 29:15 with the BRAINBUSTAAAAAAHH! on the apron. [****3/4]
- The fight started backstage as the two were brawling through the curtain. As you'd expect with their previous two Final Battle matches, this was a violent, brutal match. Generico hit a diving tornado DDT off the guardrail onto the floor early on and it looked like Steen was legitimately knocked out. They brawled through a lot of Hammerstein and Generico fell from the lower balcony through a table for a near ten count. The interesting part of the match was Steen sending SCUM to the back, which led to Generico hitting a Yakuza kick and a brainbuster through a chair. Steen got up at 9 and immediately hit a Package Piledriver for a 9 count on Generico. The chair shot to set up the finish was nasty and the fans lost it when Generico won. After the match, SCUM attacked Generico. Steen came to and pulled Jacobs and Corino off of Generico. He told them to stay the f-ck out of his business and Corino responded by slapping Steen in the face and Jacobs speared Steen through a table. SCUM continued the attack on Steen until Generico ran them off. The two had a face off in the middle of the ring before Steen extended his hand to Generico and the two shook hands before embracing.

[ROH Year Three Moment] Samoa Joe defeated Japanese legend Nobuhiko Takada and Davey Richards finally took down Roderick Strong to make our Final Battle main event official! (Card #29, Richards vs. Strong III)

11.) Double Main Event II - ROH World Championship: Samoa Joe beat Davey Richards (ch) in 31:26 with the Island Driver to become the third champion. [****1/2]
- Of all the matches on the show, this may have delivered the best as far as the actual wrestling goes. They started very slow, neither man wanting to rush in because of how easily the opponent could end the match. Very stiff match, the kicks could be heard in the cheap seats and both wrestlers had bruised chests by the end from the hard shots delivered. Joe hit a Muscle Buster on the apron for a big near fall and kept the momentum for several minutes before Davey countered an elbow suicida with a dropkick. Richards went on offense and for the first time in ROH was booed by the fans. Davey nearly won with the Ankle Lock and the DR Driver. Davey went for his running shoot kick but Joe caught him with the Island Driver to win the match and the Championship. Davey handed Joe the belt and said that Joe was the kind of guy this company needed as a representative, that it was an honor to face Joe and that nobody in this business is better. Shortly after Davey left, Kazuchika Okada made his way to the ring and issued a challenge to Joe for the ROH World Championship before leaving. Joe accepted and went into the crowd to celebrate as the show came to an end.

ROH Celebrates Our Third Birthday With a Huge Double Main Event!

As ROH regroups after a chaotic and memorable Final Battle, we look to the future, specifically our third birthday bash and the two huge matches that have already been signed for our return to Philly!

Willie Mack and Rhett Titus were a team for most of the first three years of ROH until a loss to Future Shock sent Willie Mack over the edge as he turned on his longtime friend. At Final Battle, Willie Mack demolished Rhett Titus in two minutes and sixteen seconds. Less than two and a half minutes was all it took for Willie Mack to prove he was always the better member of ANX.

At Final Battle, Samoa Joe bested Davey Richards in an all time classic to become the third ROH World Champion and end Richards' two year reign as the top dog in Ring of Honor. Following his victory, Kazuchika Okada, who owns a singles victory over Samoa Joe, challenged Joe for the championship and the wrestling world was talking about a rematch to their previous encounters.

So imagine the surprise of everyone involved when Samoa Joe was presented a contract not for a match with Okada, but for one with Willie Mack. Joe commented to ROHWrestling.com, saying that he's not looking past Willie Mack and that Willie is one of the best in the world but come Philadelphia he will know what everyone else in ROH has found out the hard way and that is that Samoa Joe is unstoppable.

Willie Mack was unavailable for comment, but those close to him have assured ROH officials that he is taking the biggest opportunity of his career very seriously and will be prepared to fight come Philadelphia!

In the second half of our double main event lies the tale of two tag teams. On one side of the ring are the American Wolves of Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards. This team were the first men to hold the World Tag Team Championship, but they lost the titles after just one defense. Since then, Richards embarked on a near two year run as ROH World Champion, and Edwards has just passed a year as Pure Wrestling Champion. Between the two of them, they've held all three championships that ROH has, even if their greatest success so far lies as singles wrestlers.

On the other side of the ring are Katsuyori Shibata and Kazushi Sakuraba, better known as Laughter7. Japanese pro wrestlers turned MMA fighters sent to Ring of Honor by Lou Thesz and Nobuhiko Takada with the purpose of claiming ROH in the name of 'real' wrestling. Laughter7 held the ROH World Tag Team Championship for over a year before losing to Future Shock at Final Battle. This marks their only loss in tag team competition to this point in ROH. In singles competition, they have been beaten but together, they have looked invincible since the beginning.

At the Third Anniversary Show, these two teams collide for only the second time, the first being in the Eight Man Tag Team Match at "All Out War" last year, which saw Richards defeated for the first time in over a year. But this is not an eight man tag team match, it is two-on-two. Can the American Wolves show the synergy that made them the initial ROH World Tag Team Champions, or will Laughter7 do to the Wolves as they have the rest of the ROH roster?

Five Matches Added to the Third Anniversary Event!

Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander have been more active across other promotions than in ROH, despite the fact they've claimed ROH as their home promotion while wrestling abroad. C&C went to Japan for most of last year and won the Jr. Tag League in the JPWA before also winning the Red Carpet Tag League in NWA Hollywood. They said the only way they would return to ROH is if they had enough momentum to carry them into, and through, a tag team championship match so the match has been signed! In Philadelphia, C&C Wrestle Factory will take on Future Shock for the ROH World Tag Team Championship!

Kevin Steen did the unthinkable at Final Battle. After a brutal loss to El Generico, Steen attacked his fellow members of SCUM, saving Generico in the process! In a conference call with ROH officials, Steen noted that his hatred for Generico turned into respect during that match. Steen said that all he wanted was the war to end, and it did but there's a new one on the horizon. Steen specifically asked to face SCUM in Philadelphia. Several emails to El Generico went unreturned. Will Steen have to go it alone in Philly?

Kazuchika Okada and Roderick Strong both had tremendous performances at Final Battle, and after the main event Okada made known his intention to challenge Samoa Joe for the World Championship. As usual, Roderick Strong blew up the ROH office phone lines demanding a World Championship match. This lead to ROH match maker Nigel McGuinness making this match for Philadelphia. Which one of these top contenders walks out of the Anniversary Show with a victory?

Bryan Danielson defeated Mike Bennett at Final Battle and made known to ROH officials that this year would be the year that he won the World Championship. ROH officials take Bryan's claims very seriously and have agreed to his demands that he face only the best competition in the world, so in Philadelphia he will face Tommaso Ciampa! Ciampa is coming off a decisive victory over TJ Perkins, can he stop the American Dragon?

Finally, Michael Elgin will take on Homicide in a big match for both men. Homicide has committed to being around ROH regularly this year and is on a mission to win any of ROH's three Championships. The road to any of those titles, however, goes through "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin.

But this isn't all, the World Wrestling Federation have made it known to ROH that they will send two of their best to take on a tag team from ROH. Who will this team be, and who will ROH choose? We'll find out in Philadelphia!
