Card #6: "Respect is Earned"; Dayton, OH:
[PRESHOW] The Hunt Begins.. Davey Richards is shown outside the building, holding his neck from the attack by the House of Truth the night before. Davey Richards: "So this is it, my road to that World Championship continues, or should I say it begins tonight. It begins with you, Michael Elgin. You're a monster, so physically strong it's scary, Mike. But mentally, you gotta be weak. You take advice from a circus freak, who simply just can't cut it on his own anymore. I don't know what they've put in your head, Mike...but I'll be damn sure to kick it out. See I came here to Dayton tonight to hurt you, and I'm really good at it. So bring your strength, your anger, your aggression. You're motivated, and that's good. You're as dangerous as they come, but not more dangerous than me. Be ambitious Mike, you're gonna need it."
1.) Rhino with Truth Martini beat Tommaso Ciampa, Steve Corino, Mark Briscoe, Jay Briscoe and Mike Mondo in 17:53 when he used the Gore on Mondo. [**1/2] - Part one of Truth Martini's plan tonight was a success. This match was to potentially crown another number one contender for Roderick Strong to face, however Rhino won the match which keeps these five men away from the top dog in the House of Truth.
2.) Mike Bennett with Maria and Brutal Bob beat Jimmy Jacobs in 6:18 via disqualification when Jacobs used the railroad spike. [*1/2] - Another unremarkable match, they didn't really get going before Jacobs stabbed Bennett. Jacobs laughed as he walked to the back while Bennett laid bleeding in the ring.
3.) Willie Mack beat Shelton Benjamin in 8:22 with MDX. [**1/4] - These two went at it in a highly competitive match for the amount of time this went. Benjamin couldn't really get much going for longer than a few moments before Willie would turn the tide back in his favor.
4.) Charlie Haas beat Rhett Titus in 4:11 with the Haas of Pain. [*1/4] - A match that largely isn't worth talking about. Haas squashed Titus, so the WGTT-ANX series tied 1-1 at the end.
5.) Winner Receives ROH World Championship Match at Death Before Dishonor: Kevin Steen beat Kyle O'Reilly, Adam Cole and Delirious in 14:53 with the F-Cinq to Delirious. [***] - A noteworthy match because about halfway through, Cole and O'Reilly brawled to the back and left Delirious to fight Steen. Steen was taken to the limit by a determined Delirious, but in the end Delirious fell to F-Cinq, and Steen will challenge Roderick Strong in Richmond.
6.) Special Challenge Match: Eddie Edwards vs. El Generico went to a time limit draw at 20:00. [***1/2] - Very good, technical match that also featured both men taking it to the air when the opponent would seek refuge on the outside of the ring. The crowd was 50/50 split and were going crazy whenever a pin was attempted. Generico was setting up the BRAINBUSTAAAHHH! just as the time expired. The fans chanted "Five more minutes", but instead only got the two competitors sharing a handshake.
[PREMATCH] Truth Martini and Michael Elgin make their way out as Davey Richards is standing in the ring, ready for his match. Truth Martini: "Davey, Davey, Davey...did you really think you were going to start your series with the House of Truth here in this cesspool known as Dayton, Ohio? No, you're going to do this on the House of Truth's time. Michael Elgin just dismantled Claudio Castagnoli last night. He's not in the mood to compete, but we found someone who is!"
Elgin drags Grizzly Redwood through the curtain and throws him into the ring before fleeing the scene, leading to....
7.) Special Challenge Match: Davey Richards beat Grizzly Redwood in 25 seconds with a series of shoot kicks. [NR] - Nothing to say about this, really. Davey murdered Grizzly with shoot kicks and that was that. Davey got on the mic and promised that this would be the fate of Rhino, Elgin and Roderick Strong.
8.) ROH World Championship: Roderick Strong with Truth Martini beat Johnny Yuma in 13:26 with the Ankle Lock. [***1/4] - Yuma didn't stand a chance here. Roderick mauled him and aside from only a few moves, Yuma was completely helpless against the champion. Roderick mocked Davey Richards during this match, using shoot kicks and even stealing the Ankle Lock to win the match. After the match, Richards attacked Strong and sent him running. Davey vowed to "f--king kill you, Roddy!" as the DVD came to a close.

ROH Newswire - 4 Weeks until Death Before Dishonor:
Monday: - We wrapped up a hectic weekend in the midwest which saw ROH defeat Chikara 5-3, as well as the first ROH World Tag Team Champions crowned in The American Wolves! The Wolves are preparing for their first defense of the titles in Richmond as they take on The Briscoes!
- Roderick Strong also found out the identity of his opponent for Richmond as Kevin Steen won a four corner survival in Dayton for the opportunity to challenge for the World Championship!
- S.C.U.M. are demanding one final fight with El Generico after Steen's attack on Generico at Unity. Generico has yet to respond to their demands.
- The road to Final Battle will kick into high gear after Death Before Dishonor. We can confirm that several wrestlers from outside promotions, namely Chikara, CWF Hollywood and CZW will be in action on the card. Nigel McGuinness recently announced that Sami Callihan from CZW will make his ROH debut at Final Battle!
Tuesday: - Nigel McGuinness will announce the rules of the Pure Wrestling Championship in next week's video wire, as well as the two participants in the match to decide the first Pure Wrestling Champion!
- Just signed for Richmond, a Revolution: USA rematch as Tommaso Ciampa and Kyle O'Reilly look to avenge their loss to Adam Cole and Jay Lethal!
- Davey Richards is still livid over the way the House of Truth handled the beginning of the singles match series Richards has challenged them to. Truth Martini had Michael Elgin throw Grizzly Redwood into the ring to take the beating in Dayton. ROH Management has instated a new policy regarding this series: If the House of Truth opts out of, or is disqualified from any match in this series, Davey Richards will automatically be granted a Championship match at Final Battle!
Wednesday: - Davey Richards has found out who his first opponent in the House of Truth Series will be. In Boston, he will take on Truth Martini's hired mercenary Rhino! If Davey defeats Rhino, he will face Michael Elgin at Glory By Honor in a match that Richards must win to get a Championship Match at Final Battle.
- Bryan Danielson is in training, determined to win the Ring of Honor World Championship when he challenges whoever the champion may be at Glory By Honor.
- El Generico has yet to respond to S.C.U.M. and their challenge for one final match.
Thursday - The House of Truth will be in singles action at Death Before Dishonor as Rhino takes on Rhett Titus and Michael Elgin goes one on one with Willie Mack!
- We can confirm the very first match for the Final Battle card today, as Adam Cole will face Jigsaw in a rematch from Unity in Chicago! These two had an incredible match in Chicago, and one would have to assume they will do the same in New York!
Friday - Only one news bit today. El Generico has agreed to face Jimmy Jacobs and Steve Corino in a STEEL CAGE MATCH in Richmond! When asked if he wanted to pick a partner, Generico declined. It's obvious the Generic Luchadore is looking for an end to this blood feud, and he's hoping to find it in Richmond.

ROH Video Wire - 3 Weeks Until Death Before Dishonor:
The Video Wire opens with a recap of the Davey Richards/Grizzly Redwood match from Dayton, Ohio. We're then taken to an interview with Davey Richards. Davey Richards: "So this is the way the House of Truth wants to play, huh? You send a guy like Grizzly Redwood in the ring and you laugh at him for being dismantled when it should have been one of your boys, Truth. Well, the end is coming for the House of Truth. In Boston, I face Rhino. Philadelphia, at Glory By Honor...I finally get Michael Elgin. After I'm done with them, then it's just me and you, Roddy.
But before all of that, I've got the Briscoes in the first defense of the Tag Titles with Eddie Edwards. Jay and Mark, you guys are crazy. You guys are by far one of the best teams in the entire world, and you had my back when those frickin cartoon characters attacked me and Eddie. In Richmond, you guys get your shot. Bring your best, boys...you're gonna need it."
A clip plays from the locker room in Dayton, Ohio when Kevin Steen and S.C.U.M. attacked El Generico. A graphic confirms Generico vs. S.C.U.M. in Richmond.
Another clip plays, showing the brawl in the locker room between Kyle O'Reilly and Adam Cole. After the clip, we see Nigel McGuinness in his office. Nigel McGuinness: "So as I'm sure you've all heard, our next show in Richmond is going to be a big one. Maybe our biggest show yet, but our debut in Boston will feature the match to crown the first Pure Wrestling Champion. It's a title with a rule set that is very close to my heart, being a Pure Champion myself in the past. The rules are simple:
- Each wrestler has three rope breaks to stop submission holds and pinfalls during the match. After a wrestler exhausts his rope breaks, submission and pin attempts under the ropes by the opponent are considered legal. - There are no closed-fist punches to the face allowed in a Pure match, only open-handed slaps or chops to the face are allowed. Punches to other parts of the body (save for low-blows) are permitted. The first use of a closed fist will get a warning, and the second will cause the wrestler to be penalized a rope break. If he is already out of rope breaks, he will be disqualified. - A wrestler is subject to a twenty count by the referee if the wrestler goes to the floor. - The title can change by countout or disqualification.
Now, I've thought long and hard about this championship. This belt used to symbolize the future of professional wrestling. Several stars in the making competed for, or held this belt...so I think it's only right that in Boston the title will be contested in a match between Kyle O'Reilly and Adam Cole. They're two of the very best and I look forward to seeing them compete for the Pure Title."
Shelton Benjamin is standing by. Shelton Benjamin: "So let me get this straight, I'm gonna face this masked freak Delirious? This is the best match Ring of Honor can give me? Okay, well I'm gonna make a statement. A statement that Shelton Benjamin deserves better than to be given a joke as an opponent. See you in Richmond."

ROH Newswire - The Week of Death Before Dishonor:
Monday: - This weekend is the biggest Ring of Honor show to date as we make our way to Richmond, VA for Death Before Dishonor. Both the ROH World and World Tag Team Championships will be defended as Roderick Strong defends against Kevin Steen and The American Wolves defend against Jay and Mark Briscoe.
- As noted last week, Final Battle will be broadcast anywhere in the world with an internet connection live on iPPV! This is shaping up to be the most loaded card of the year as each of the ROH Championships will be defended as well as featuring stars from several other promotions!
- Two big tag matches have been finalized for our debut in Boston. Both matches will definitely be monitored by ROH officials to determine which team will be challenging for the titles at Final Battle. The first match will see C&C Wrestling Factory take on Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team and the other sees the All Night Express take on S.C.U.M.!
Thursday: - Davey Richards is working hard in training to prepare for the House of Truth singles match series. Richards knows he has to down both of the giants from the House of Truth if he wants a match with whomever the ROH World Champion is at Final Battle. Richards has made no bones about it, he wants Roderick Strong but he also wants the Ring of Honor Championship. No doubt the American Wolf will be watching all of Strong's upcoming title defenses.
- It would appear as though this is a slow news week, but a lot is going on behind the scenes at Ring of Honor and we are adding matches to both our returns to Philadelphia and Manhattan. Today, the details were ironed out and at Final Battle, Eddie Kingston will face "The Notorious 187" Homicide! Added to Glory By Honor in Philadelphia are two major singles matches as Homicide takes on another Chikara star when he faces Jigsaw and Adam Cole will go head-to-head with El Generico!

Feds like yours are the reason I resist posting mine. Without having the time nor creativity to be so in depth and thorough, mine would pale in comparison.
Nice job Switch!
