ROH Newswire - 5 Weeks Until Final Battle:
Monday: - What an event we had last weekend in Philadelphia! A sold out crowd saw one of the greatest matches in ROH history as Roderick Strong beat Bryan Danielson to retain the ROH World Championship, and Davey Richards defeated Michael Elgin so our Final Battle main event is set! Davey Richards WILL challenge Roderick Strong for the ROH World Championship!
- Another interesting development is that Michael Elgin has been ousted from the House of Truth following his loss to Davey Richards. Rhino attacked Elgin, only to be run off moments later by Richards. Elgin has made his intentions for Final Battle clear: He wants a match with Rhino. The House of Truth has not returned calls from ROH officials.
- Mike Quackenbush put out an open challenge to the ROH roster for Final Battle. Who will accept?
Tuesday: - We can now confirm that Final Battle will have a Double Main Event! In addition to Strong vs. Richards, Kevin Steen and El Generico will receive top billing in their grudge match! Stay tuned to find out the stipulation!
- Kyle O'Reilly has proven that he may be the best pure wrestler in Ring of Honor, but at Final Battle he'll defend the ROH Pure Wrestling Championship against "Die Hard" Eddie Edwards!
Thursday: - Sami Callihan has said that ROH has made their biggest mistake by not putting Callihan in the main event of Final Battle? What does the Callihan Death Machine have in store when we get to New York City?
- Another Final Battle match was set this past weekend after the Briscoes defeated WGTT. It will be Briscoes vs. ANX with the ROH World Tag Team Championship on the line!
- A Revolution: Canada rematch has been signed and at Final Battle, Jay Lethal will take on Mike Bennett. If you recall, this was Bennett's first win in Ring of Honor. Can he replicate that victory in New York?
Friday: - Matchmaker Nigel McGuinness has spoken on the Steen and Generico situation. He's said that this needs to end and he's found a match brutal enough to do just that. In New York City, Steen and Generico will meet in a Dog Collar Match!
- Mike Quackenbush's open challenge has been accepted and at Final Battle, Quack will take on none other than "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson! This brings Final Battle's card to a whopping NINE matches, and there's still more matches to announce! Check back later for updates to the biggest card in ROH history!

ROH Video Wire - 4 Weeks Until Final Battle:
Footage from both Kyle O'Reilly's Pure Championship win over Adam Cole and his first successful defense over Jay Lethal are shown. We're then taken to Kyle O'Reilly who has just finished a training session with Tony Kozina. Kyle O'Reilly: "So I find out today that my next Championship defense is against you, Eddie Edwards. It's no secret to anyone, Eddie...I don't like you and I damn sure don't respect you. I hear all the people on the internet, on their Twitter accounts talking about how you're so much better than me, you're a better pure wrestler than me. In New York, you're gonna find out that the hype behind you is just that. It's hype, Eddie. I'm the best wrestler in the world, be it hold for hold wrestling or going toe to toe. I'm better than you, Eddie. At Final Battle, I'm gonna prove it to you."
TJ Perkins is standing by outside of a PWG show in Reseda, CA. TJ Perkins: "Final Battle. The biggest ROH event to date and it takes place in New York City. Funny enough, nobody's mentioning that you can watch it from anywhere in the world on internet Pay-Per-View. Well I guess I just did, huh? Well I'm not waiting until next year to make my ROH debut. I petitioned ROH management, and I'm going to make my ROH debut at Final Battle against Chikara's own Johnny Gargano. We're in the pre-show, Johnny. We get to set the tone for the entire night, we're the ones who have to be followed. Be prepared, you're gonna have to catch lightning with your bare hands."
Clips of the classic Adam Cole vs. Jigsaw match are shown before we see Adam Cole sitting in his living room. Adam Cole: "Jigsaw. That's a name that's haunted me for months now. See Jigsaw, you beat me in the closest match I've ever lost. You beat me when it counted, it was ROH vs. Chikara and I let myself down. I let my colleagues down, I let the fans down but most importantly, I let ROH down. Well as fate would have it, Final Battle presents an opportunity for a rematch. Jigsaw, I have the utmost respect for you as a competitor. You're one of the very best in the world but what I need you to realize is that Unity was one night. You were better than me on one night. Trust me, it won't happen again. See you in New York."
Sami Callihan is shown at the CZW school, standing in the middle of the ring with a lone spotlight on him. Callihan: "So Final Battle is upon us, and ROH management still have not put me in the main event match. Instead, it's this big double main event with two matches that nobody gives a shit about. Great, just great. You guys are paying the Ultraviolent Callihan Death Machine top dollar to come in for some bullshit interpromotional four corner survival? Big mistake. Tommaso, Yuma, Donst, you guys are gonna find out exactly what I mean when I say I'm not the biggest dog in the fight but I am damn sure the scariest!
See, I already know how your fans feel about me, and about CZW. Just remember this, ROHbots--where one of us goes, the rest of us ain't far behind."
Card #10: "Final Battle: The Hunt is On"; Manhattan, NY (iPPV): Double Main Event - ROH World Championship: Roderick Strong with Truth Martini (ch) vs. Davey Richards Double Main Event - Dog Collar Match: Kevin Steen vs. El Generico ROH Pure Wrestling Championship: Kyle O'Reilly (ch) vs. Eddie Edwards ROH World Tag Team Championship: Jay and Mark Briscoe (ch) vs. Rhett Titus and Willie Mack Bryan Danielson vs. Mike Quackenbush Unity Rematch: Adam Cole vs. Jigsaw Homicide vs. Eddie Kingston Revolution: Canada Rematch: Mike Bennett with Maria and Brutal Bob vs. Jay Lethal Tim Donst vs. Tommaso Ciampa vs. Johnny Yuma vs. Sami Callihan Special Pre-Show Match: TJ Perkins vs. Johnny Gargano

ROHWrestling.com - Roderick Strong's Open Letter to Davey Richards (2 Weeks Until Final Battle:
Davey, Davey, Davey....
Here we are again. Just like the first two shows it's you and me in the main event. Now, you might have won at The Era of Honor Begins, but I beat you at Survival of the Fittest and since then, you've had this weird obsession with me. But hey, I don't blame you....look at me! I don't blame you for wanting some of this but Davey, I don't roll that way. Just letting you know now.
You keep talking about how this is your destiny, you made a promise to your dead grandparents that you would become a World Champion. Good for you, Davey. I'm sure that story has made you a lot of money and made a lot of opponents cry. But not me. I don't give a crap about your dead grandparents. They don't mean anything. This ROH World Championship does.
So come Final Battle, bring your kicks, your Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, bring your ambition or whatever. Davey, it's not going to be enough. I'm going to break your back, I'm going to break your will and Davey, I'm going to break your heart. This World Championship is staying around my waist and that's the Truth.
- Roderick Strong

ROH Video Wire - The Week of Final Battle:
Clips of Danielson vs. Roderick from Glory By Honor serve as the intro for this week's Video Wire. We see Bryan Danielson training at the ROH Academy before he sits down to talk to the camera. Bryan Danielson: "This weekend is the biggest ROH show ever, and on this show I'm facing one of the greatest mat technicians in the history of this business: 'Lightning' Mike Quackenbush. Quack, we've faced each other before in singles matches, tag matches and even trios matches. But this is different. You're on my turf now. You're out of your comfort zone. This match is about more than respect. Quack, I'm coming to New York to prove I'm better than you. See you this weekend, and may the best man win."
Video of the Era of Honor Begins main event, focusing on Kyle O'Reilly and Eddie Edwards' interactions with one another plays before we go to Eddie Edwards who is in Japan competing. Eddie Edwards: "I've heard a lot of what Kyle O'Reilly has been saying about me on the internet and...right to this camera on the ROH Video Wire a few weeks ago. Kyle, if you wanted to say something to me, you know how to reach me. But you made this public. It's me and you for the Pure Wrestling Championship. You're a great wrestler but what you seem to forget is that I beat you senseless in Philadelphia at the beginning of the year. You seem to forget that I was one of the guys who taught you everything you know.
This new attitude you've got, hey it's brought you success. But this weekend you're gonna find out that Die Hard is on a whole different level...and I'm coming for that Pure Wrestling Championship."
We see a pitch black room. A light begins to flicker and we see Kevin Steen who is as close to the camera as you can get. Kevin Steen: "Generico, this weekend I end this. I end all the suffering, all the pain, I end having to hear your f--king name everywhere I go. We're going to be connected by dog collars and chain. There's no disqualifications, no countouts, nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. Generico, I'm going to F--KING KILL YOU! I'M GOING TO TEAR YOUR HEART OUT, TAKE A BITE OUT OF IT AND SPIT IT AT THOSE MORONS WHO CHEER FOR YOU! I'M GOING TO COMMIT MURDER LIVE ON INTERNET PAY-PER-VIEW IF THE SHOW EVEN WORKS FOR THE PEOPLE WATCHING IT! This...ends...in New York."
A long music video recaps Davey Richards and Roderick Strong's feud throughout the first year of ROH. We then go to Davey, who is standing on the roof of his gym in St. Louis, MO. Davey Richards: "It's funny, I hate talking to this camera but at least unlike you, Roddy, I don't have to hide behind a keyboard. You write this cute little open letter to me on the website. Yeah, I read it. I read it and as usual Roddy, your head is right up your ass. You think you've got it figured out, huh? You're gonna break my back, huh? I don't see how you're gonna break my back when you're gonna be too busy worrying about me kicking your frickin' head off your shoulders. I don't see how you can possibly figure you're going to sick kick me when I'm gonna break both of your legs.
Roddy, this is my destiny. That World Championship should have been mine at Survival of the Fittest but you and your little bitch, Truth Martini, screwed me out of the title. But I never whined, I never complained. I said I was going to take out the whole House of Truth to get that title shot. And look what happened, the whole damn group is falling apart. You guys kicked Michael Elgin out. Truth can barely pay Rhino the money he demands to try to take out Elgin, and where does that leave you after Final Battle? Where does Roderick Strong go from here?
I'll tell you where you go. You go home. You go home broken, defeated and you'll have to live with the fact that you got beat. I don't need someone like Truth Martini in my corner. I fight my own battles, Roddy. This weekend is your LAST weekend as ROH World Champion. Final Battle will be your Final Battle, Roddy...because this wolf is on the hunt...and I'm comin' for your head. Hunt's on."

Card #10: "Final Battle: The Hunt is On"; Manhattan, NY (iPPV):
1.) Special Pre-Show Match: TJ Perkins beat Johnny Gargano in 5:52 with the Detonation Kick. [**] - A quick victory in TJP's ROH debut. He looked impressive, dominating Gargano for the entire match before winning with his signature Detonation Kick. TJP promised he would make a huge impact in ROH after the match.
2.) Revolution: Canada Rematch: Mike Bennett with Maria and Brutal Bob beat Jay Lethal in 12:54 with the Photo Finish. [***] - Maybe not as good as the match from Canada, but still a good opener to the Live iPPV. Lethal has been in a huge slump lately, and needed a big win here to break out of that. Unfortunately, Bennett got on a roll early and Lethal couldn't get anything going which lead to the Prodigy picking up yet another big win.
3.) Sami Callihan beat Tim Donst, Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Yuma in 10:02 when Callihan used the Stretch Muffler on Yuma. [**3/4] - Callihan was so hated by the fans. "F--k You Sami", "Garbage Wrestler" and "You S--k D--k" were chanted at him during his entrance. It's obvious he's the biggest heel in the world to these people. The match was basically everyone trying to take out Sami, but Sami turned the momentum in his favor every single time.
A video of Truth Martini kicking Elgin out of the House of Truth plays before the next match.
4.) Michael Elgin beat Rhino with Truth Martini in 9:40 with the Elgin Bomb. [***] - A good heavyweight brawl, Elgin chased Martini to the back and Truth stayed there until the end when he threw the book in, but Elgin caught it, hit Rhino with the book as Rhino went for the Gore and Elgin followed up with the Elgin Bomb to win.
5.) Winners Receive ROH World Tag Team Title Shot: The Young Bucks of Nick and Matt Jackson beat Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team of Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin, Incoherence of Hallowicked and Frightmare, Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander, The Throwbacks of Dasher Hatfield and Sugar Dunkerton and S.C.U.M. of Jimmy Jacobs and Steve Corino in 31:16 with More Bang For Your Buck on Hatfield. [****1/4] - Very long match but very good. It was contested under scramble rules, meaning first team to score a fall wins the whole match. The Bucks were super exciting here, hitting so many crazy out of the ring dives that I personally lost count. Incoherence looked great too and I would love to see them brought back for another match. WGTT and C&C brawled to the back near the end.
6.) Homicide beat Eddie Kingston in 17:01 with the Cop Killa. [***] - Just a brawl, a straight up fight but a bit on the long side. Homicide attempted to introduce the Ghetto Fork, but Kingston stopped each attempt. King looked like he had it won, but Homicide kicked out of a Backfist and went on the offensive, dropping King on his head to win the match.
7.) Unity Rematch: Adam Cole beat Jigsaw in 12:11 with the Panama Sunrise. [***1/2] - Much like the Unity match, this was just a fantastic match. The interesting part was Cole was acting like a heel here, telling Jigsaw to "s--k my d--k!" among many other things. They had nearly the exact same ending sequence too, except Cole side stepped Jigsaw's superkick and hit one of his own before hitting the Panama Sunrise to win the match.
8.) Bryan Danielson beat Mike Quackenbush in 13:06 with Cattle Mutilation. [***3/4] - Not quite the epic match many may have been expecting, but this late in the show they did pretty good. This was hold-for-hold, methodical type wrestling which was a refreshing change of pace. The match didn't really look like it was going to end any time soon and then Danielson locked in Cattle Mutilation and picked up the win. They shook hands after the match.
9.) ROH World Tag Team Championship: Jay and Mark Briscoe (ch) beat Rhett Titus and Willie Mack in 18:02 when Jay used the Jay Driller on Titus. [***] - The live crowd really wanted to see ANX win. Willie looked like he got hurt when Mark Briscoe did a dive to the floor so that kept him out for a lot of the match. Titus did well enough on his own but without a partner, failed to get a big offensive run going and Dem Boys racked up Defense #3.
10.) ROH Pure Wrestling Championship: Kyle O'Reilly (ch) beat Eddie Edwards in 14:03 with a Guillotine Choke. Edwards had used all three rope breaks, O'Reilly used two. [***1/4] - The story here was that O'Reilly was going to make Eddie exhaust his rope breaks and then wear him down to where he could choke him out. This strategy worked well for Kyle until Edwards started to pick up momentum. O'Reilly started to fight dirty, using an eye poke and a closed fist not only to gain the advantage, but cost himself a rope break in the process. Edwards went for Die Hard, but O'Reilly countered with the choke and even though Edwards was in the ropes, it didn't matter. O'Reilly wouldn't let go of the choke after the match and Adam Cole ran in to make the save. Cole challenged O'Reilly for the Pure Title at the First Anniversary Show.
11.) Double Main Event - Dog Collar Match: El Generico beat Kevin Steen in 17:42 with a BRAINBUSTAAAHHH! onto a steel chair. [****1/2] - Brutal, violent and bloody. That's exactly what these two gave and that's what the fans expected. Lots of crowd brawling, Steen ripped Generico's mask, Generico ripped Steen's face. This was just a war. Steen introduced the chair that would later be used to beat him, first hitting a Package Piledriver onto the chair that Generico unbelievably kicked out of. The war waged on from there until Generico hit a super brainbuster through the chair to win. S.C.U.M. carried Steen out as Generico celebrated.
12.) Double Main Event - ROH World Championship: Davey Richards beat Roderick Strong with Truth Martini in 31:17 with the DR Driver to become the second champion. [****3/4] - As far as ROH goes, this is the Match of the Year. "Let's Go Davey" chants through most of the introductions and a ton of streamers thrown in for Davey. This match, as you can imagine, was super stiff and these guys did not let up on each other. Richards was busted open by the guard rail on the outside and Strong targeted the cut throughout the match. They teased stopping it due to bleeding on a few occasions. Late in the match, Martini attempted to throw the Book of Truth in, but Michael Elgin ran in and threw Truth into the ring post before chasing Martini to the back. With Truth gone, Roddy was distracted long enough for Davey to recover and hit a head kick. Davey fired off several more shoot kicks before dusting off the DR Driver to fulfill his destiny and win the ROH World Championship in a classic match.
After the match, Sami Callihan attacked Davey Richards and grabbed the microphone before Davey could talk. Sami Callihan: "So hey, how do you like that? I just interrupted the big teary eyed speech of your World Champion. You know what I say? F--K YOUR WORLD CHAMPION, F--K THIS COMPANY AND F--K EVERY ONE OF YOU IN THIS BUILDING AND EVERYONE WATCHING THIS SHOW ON PAY-PER-VIEW! You people shit on me because I'm from CZW? You don't like people from CZW? Well how do you like this shit?"
The ROH locker room empties as they rush the ring to attack Callihan. Just then, Masada, DJ Hyde, Drake Younger, BLK Jeez, Joker and Drew Gulak rush the ring and attack the ROH roster. A huge brawl erupts with the CZW guys eventually laying out everyone in ROH. Callihan holds up the ROH World Title as DJ Hyde presses a button on a remote control to turn off the lights, ending the show with CZW's roster standing tall.
