Kevin Steen and "poor work rate" does not belong in the same sentence. It does not compute. So True! Kevin Steen is a Great Worker, especially for a man his size. More than likely, his current HEEL status calls for him to have an IDGAF Attitude. Have been a big Fan of his since I 1st saw him Live at one of our shows years ago in a 4-way match that included El Generico! That said, CZW is about a 2 for me. I just don't care for that type of wrestling.

Hope you're right, slymm. Tom rarely lets us down, so I remain confident. Lyle, if Steen's so good, why are so many ROH guys complaining about him being lazy and clueless in the ring? Chief among them, this guy: www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/2012/0806/555007/davey-richards/And I've sat ringside to watch this guy wrestle enough times to have seen him gassed and lumbering only minutes into his matches.

I did specify "For a Man his Size"! Davey, from his statement, does not take that into consideration because he thinks you have to be in Shape to be Champion! Beleive me! I was Surprised when he became Champ also, but it doesn't take away the Great matches I've seen him in, including the ones against the Wolves! That said, they very rarely come to Philly these days, so I haven't seen that much of him recently!

I guess I got confused with the "So true! Kevin Steen is a Great Worker," part of your statement. I took the size qualification as an aside, and since the whole comment was attached to a pasted comment about how it's impossible to even conceive Steen as a poor worker, I just assumed you were declaring him anything but poor.
That said, he really isn't a great worker, and his size is a big part of the problem.
Vader was a great worker who utilized his size very effectively because his cardio was amazing for a man his size. The same can be said for Bray Wyatt, one of Steen's modern contemporaries.
Steen got gassed doing a promo on a swing set in Chicago Ridge a few months ago at a show in which he didn't wrestle, and not much has changed since. Lots of rest holds and audible calls for move clarification during matches. It's terrible.

You have your Opinion, I'm sticking with Mine. Maybe the next time I see him, I'll think differently of him now, but not of when I worked with him!

Fair enough. I just found it funny that my opinion is drawing the heat here when it's shared with several professionals and one or two friends who've (also) been in the ring with him.
I think the aforementioned IDGAF attitude is blinding a lot of fans to the fact that he's little more than Jim Cornette's attempt at pleasing Sinclair Broadcasting by finding a ". . . .big, vocla body, regardless of talent to sell a wrestling product." Kevin Nash wasn't interested in the pay cut, or else he'd likely be the ROH champ now.

I'm just losing interest in Ring of Honor. I don't get it in my area anymore, and it seems now that it's trying to be more exclusive than inclusive as it once was. That being said, I'm still going to get the set because I get all Filsinger Game sets.

I take everything Davey says with a grain of salt. I am a fan of his in ring work, but his attitude outside the ring is just poor. He is such a mark for himself it is pathetic. It seems that if you can't do something for Davey, he just runs you down. I must say I have not met Davey, but I do have friends who have been on shows with him, and their opinion is very poor of him, while their opinion of Steen is of a nice guy who loves wrestling and is not out for himself but to better the business.

I was just shocked by it cause it went against everything I know about Steen.

Regardless of what you think of Kevin Steen's in ring ability, I don't think a man who says:
"I like Kevin, I understand his story and his journey but the bottom line is that it's not my job to dumb down my abilities to make him able to compete."
Should be used as an example of what a good worker is. The very definition of a good worker is someone who does this. Ric Flair did this every day. It's stuff like this that infuriates me about Davey. Steen may not be in the same league as Davey in terms of athletic ability and movez and whatnot, but at least it is clear he understands what it means to be a pro wrestler, and how to get heat without A) Cutting promos about shooting on 16 year olds and robbing promoters and B) No selling superplexes.
