In a fairly low-impact, defensive match, Ophidian defeated Green Ant with his DEATH GRIP.

Post-Match Drama

After the match, the lights cut out, leaving the arena completely dark. When the lights came up, all five members of Gekido were surrounding the ring, but this time, the Chikara roster was ready for them! Fire Ant, Soldier Ant, and Dasher Hatfield ran out immediately, and a ten-man brawl ensued! Before long, the ring was filled with officials, security personnel, and Chikara wrestlers, dragging the brawling fighters apart and keeping them separated. Gekido took the opportunity to flee into the crowd, shouting threats and curses back towards the ring as they make their escape.

Los Ice Creams vs. The Colony

The Colony defeated Los Ice Creams via disqualification when El Hijo del Ice Cream was caught strangling Soldier Ant with an electrical cord outside the ring.

WINNERS: The Colony via DQ (17:04) **

Brodie Lee vs. Dasher Hatfield

Lee dominated Hatfield practically from the opening bell, and seemed to be cruising to victory. To everyone's surprise, Ophidian ran out during the match, standing in Hatfield's corner and pounding the mat to cheer him on. As the masked man from Egypt encouraged the crowd to cheer him on, the Throwback rallied and scored the pinfall after his GRAND SLAM.

WINNER: Dasher Hatfield via pinfall (13:42) **½

The Batiri vs. Jigsaw & Mike Quackenbush

The Batiri shocked their opponents, clearly distracted by a potential Gekido return, and Kodama pinned Quackenbush after a flying bulldog.

Tim Donst vs. Ultramantis Black

Jakob Hammermeier provided some timely interference (and blatant cheating), but Ultramantis was prepared for his antics and refused to be caught by surprise. After enduring the illegal tactics, he fought back and pinned Donst following a PRAYING MANTIS BOMB.

CM Punk loses the WWE Title to Kane in a match taped for Friday Night Smackdown, despite having his foot under the bottom rope when the pinfall was counted. After the match, Punk goes on a rampage, hoisting up referee Charles Robinson and planting him with the GO 2 SLEEP.

Before the tapings are even over, the WWE announces on their website that Punk is suspended indefinitely, and many fans wonder if his contract will be renewed when it expires in July.

Hey, thank you very much! Just trying to get the hang of running a fed and writing it up for others--never sure how much detail is too much, yanno?

As for match times: when I am playing a card, I keep a stop watch going, and when the match is over, I either double or triple the time (depending on how much action there was in the match). I stole the idea from someone else on one of the old boards; I forget who. I also keep an eye on it while I'm playing: if a match has a 20 minute time limit, when I get close to 10 minutes, I imagine the announcer calling out the time remaining, and start throwing dice faster as each wrestler tries to get in that last lick of offense to avoid the draw. Happens infrequently, but it's fun when it does.

Team Brodie Lee Wants to Bust Some Heads vs. The Spectral Envoy

Brodie Lee's partners for this match were two local indy talents: Rockin' Rebel and Danny Danger. It was clear from the big man's body language that he could not have cared less who his partners were; in fact, he insisted on starting the match and refused to tag out to either one of them. Though his size and power allowed him to outmuscle the Envoy at first, he could not overcome their quickness and teamwork, and Ultramantis Black ultimately took the pinfall after his PRAYING MANTIS BOMB.

Simply the Best vs. The Brotherhood

The 3XW champions made their way to the ring first, waiting impatiently to learn who their mystery opponents would be, since Tim Donst would be challenging for the Grand Championship later in the evening, and Jakob Hammermeier was not exactly a megastar in the talent department. Without warning, the lights dimmed, and a series of strobe lights illuminated the aisleway as Rammstein's Engel began pulsing from the speakers. Jakob Hammermeier emerged first, dressed in a white suit instead of his wrestling gear, and he led out...Claudio Castagnoli, Ares, and Pinkie Sanchez!

The returning BDK attacked the 3XW crew immediately, beating down all three men as soon as the bell rang. Within minutes, Ares and Castagnoli had isolated Jon West, and Ares scored the pin after a DOOMSDAY UPPERCUT.

WINNERS: The BDK via pinfall (2:36) --

Team F.I.S.T. vs. Team Extreme

The aging ECW contingent stood no chance against F.I.S.T. in their prime. The Chikara regulars triple-teamed the hardcore stars to death with lightning-quick tags, and Chuck Taylor finally took the pinfall on the Sandman after an OMEGA DRIVER.

WINNERS: Team F.I.S.T. via pinfall (4:09) ½

Ice Cream Headache vs. The Little Team That Could

This match almost didn't happen, as Mike Sydal had missed his flight, leaving The Little Team down a man. Grizzly Redwood had said earlier that he didn't care who they got to replace Sydal...

REDWOOD: "Go grab some homeless bum off the street for all I care!"

Obligingly, Gregory Iron had taken to the streets of Easton, where he found The Hobo! The makeshift tandem finally gave the crowd a match worth watching, as Iron and The Hobo showed a spark of teamwork, leaving Redwood as the odd man out, much to his (extremely vocal) displeasure. After verbally abusing his teammates for most of the match, Redwood finally found himself in trouble, and Iron and The Hobo dropped off the mat and walked away, leaving him to fall prey to El Hijo del Ice Cream's COLD STONE STUNNER and a pinfall.

WINNERS: Ice Cream Headache via pinfall (11:50) **

Team Hollywood vs. The Swarm

Team Hollywood looked good early, but eventually fell prey to the precision teamwork of the Gekido squad, with CombatANT pinning Joey Ryan after a double-team SPIKE PILEDRIVER.

Quacksabana vs. Team Hawkeye

Quackenbush, Jigsaw, and Cabana were the first team out, and they waited through two of their opponents' entrance music, with no one emerging from the back. As the third theme started up, still with no opposition, a cameraman was dispatched to the back, where Hunter Matthews, Jaysin Strife, and Zach Thompson were found--unconscious, bloodied, and surrounded by debris, including thousands of thumbtacks!

While the team of Quacksabana was contemplating this development, eerie music began playing, and--to everyone's surprise--three men emerged from the crowd: Christopher Daniels, Abyss, and a third man in a full black body suit, with matching mask, boots, and gloves...

DANIELS: "Instead of wasting tears mourning over the tragic...accident...that's befallen those three never-will-be's, why don't you step up and take on three veterans. Three seasoned veterans...who hate your guts!"

It didn't take much prompting to get the fan favorites to agree, and while the ensuing match got off to a hot start, it ended in disappointment when Colt Cabana cornered the masked man (who had made a point of avoiding Cabana throughout the match) on the floor. Abyss came up from behind with a chair, but Cabana intercepted him with a kick to the midsection, grabbing the chair away and blasting the masked man, drawing the DQ.

The Colony vs. Team 3.0lé

Fired up by finally seeing their evil clones in action, the Colony made short work of Team 3.0lé, with Fire Ant pinning Shane Matthews after the SUPER ANT-APULT (2:13) --

The Batiri vs. Strong Style

The crowd nearly rioted when the Batiri defeated Strong Style, as the end came on a simple cross body block attempt by Eddie Edwards. Kodama rolled with the move, wound up on top, and hooked Edwards' tights for the pinfall.

WINNERS: The Batiri via cheap pinfall (2:01) --

MAIN EVENT: Tim Donst vs. Eddie Kingston (c) for the CHIKARA Grand Championship

In an absolutely epic showdown, Eddie Kingston overcame an injury to Bryce Remsburg, rampant interference by Jakob Hammermeier, and a weakened knee courtesy of the challenger's ground game to retain the Grand Championship, pinning Donst after bloodying his nose with a savage BACKFIST TO THE FUTURE.

WINNER: Eddie Kingston via pinfall (26:44) ****½

The Spectral Envoy vs. The Brotherhood

Referee Bryce Remsburg continued his recent trend of taking nastier bumps than the actual wrestlers, in this case getting sandwiched between Claudio Castagnoli and Ultramantis Black as the former was charging into the corner with a fierce clothesline. The Envoy managed to rally back during the ensuing chaos, and when back-up official Jonathan Barber finally raced out, Hallowicked nailed Pinkie Sanchez with his GO 2 SLEEPY HOLLOW to pick up the win in the first King of Trios Quarterfinal match.

WINNERS: The Spectral Envoy via pinfall (10:48) *

Team F.I.S.T. vs. Ice Cream Headache

After a decidedly plodding match, Team F.I.S.T. took an unremarkable disqualification victory when El Hijo del Ice Cream smashed Johnny Gargano across the back with a steel chair, possibly intending to soften him up for a future title match.

WINNERS: Team F.I.S.T. via DQ (11:44) --

Post-Match Drama

After the (extremely unpopular) decision, Delirious snatched the dented chair away from his partner and went on a rampage, swinging at referee Jonathan Barber, all three of his opponents, and finally his own teammates, chasing Los Ice Creams all the way to the back.

The Swarm vs. Christopher Daniels, Abyss & ? ? ?

The six man faced one another with clenched fists as Jonathan Barber gave final instructions, but Daniels grabbed his arm before he could signal for the bell, and demanded a microphone.

DANIELS: "When Abyss, myself, and our masked friend came here, it was to prove a point. That wrestling--real wrestling--will win out over cartoon nonsense every single time. We proved our point yesterday, taking out Jigsaw, Colt Cabana, and your golden boy Mike Quackenbush."

CROWD: Boo!

DANIELS: "Boo all you want--you know it's true. Talk about cartoon characters--where's Colt Cabunny now, huh? Where's C.P. Munk?"

CROWD: C! P! Munk! C! P! Munk!

DANIELS: "That's what I thought. But you know what? The three of us have nothing on these men in the ring right now. They're the real heroes here, taking on the untouchable, sacred icons of CHIKARA on their home turf."

CROWD: Boo!

DANIELS: "Gentlemen, we give you all the respect in the world, and quite frankly, we don't want to spend another second here in Super Mario Land if we don't have to. If you fans want to see us again, keep your eyes open for the next wrestling show you hear about. As for you three: best of luck in the tournament."

With that, Daniels threw down the microphone. He and the masked man shook hands with all three members of the Swarm, then they rolled out of the ring and walked to the back, with Abyss marching dutifully behind them.

The Colony vs. The Batiri

The Batiri demonstrated why they had earned a shot at the titles held by Chuck Taylor and Johnny Gargano, displaying incredible teamwork and dominating the Colony (especially Green Ant) with high-powered offense and blistering tags. Just as Green Ant fell prey to a FLYING DDT and a FLYING BLOCKBUSTER in quick succession, the Swarm came tearing down the aisle, attacking Fire Ant and Soldier Ant, and dragging Green Ant to the floor. Jonathan Barber called for the bell, and an enraged Batiri team watched their King of Trios aspirations fade away.

WINNERS: The Colony via DQ (17:22) *½

Dasher Hatfield vs. Shard

With Ophidian in his corner, Hatfield made short work of the Gekido mystery man, scoring the pinfall after his GRAND SLAM.

Post-Match Drama

While Hatfield was celebrating his victory, a second man dressed in wrestling gear and wearing a Shard mask crawled out from under the ring and attacked! He got in a few kicks on the King of Swing before Ophidian slithered into the ring to make the save, sending Shard 1 and Shard 2 into retreat.

The Spectral Envoy vs. Team F.I.S.T.

The Spectral Envoy (and in particular, Frightmare and Hallowicked) got off to a hot start and put on an offensive showcase. In response, Chuck Taylor (the legal man) and Johnny Gargano fled to the arena floor, grabbed their title belts, and retreated to the back, leaving Icarus in their corner, aghast, as the referee counted Taylor out.

WINNERS: The Spectral Envoy via count out (3:13) --

The Colony vs. The Swarm

This match was out of control practically from the opening bell, as the hated enemies tore into one another with reckless abandon. The end came seemingly out of nowhere, as Soldier Ant planted CombatANT with a TKO and got the three-count while everyone else was brawling on the floor.

WINNERS: The Colony via pinfall (4:12) ½

Ophidian vs. 17

The fans were treated to the match of the night, and arguably the best match of either Anniversario card, as the in-ring debut of 17 went much more smoothly than Shard's. Despite a championship-level performance by Ophidian and the presence of Dasher Hatfield at ringside, 17 took home the win after driving Ophidian through Gavin Loudspeaker's announce table with the QUACKENDRIVER III, leaving him unable to make it back into the ring.

WINNER: 17 via count out (13:03) ****

The Colony vs. The Spectral Envoy

With Green Ant still feeling the effects of the Batiri's assault, and Fire Ant and Soldier Ant weary from their brawl with the Swarm, the Spectral Envoy seemed to have this match well in hand...until Fire Ant dropped out of the way of a flying shoulder block by Frightmare, who took out Jonathan Barber instead. With no referee, the Colony made liberal use of double- and triple-teaming to turn the tide, and Fire Ant managed to immobilize Ultramantis Black in a waistlock, hitting him with a series of rolling German suplexes. As Bryce Remsburg made his return, dashing out from the back, Fire Ant bridged back to turn the last suplex into a pinning combination to take home the King of Trios honors for his team.

Brian Kendrick fails to appear as advertised in New Japan's Best of the Super Juniors tournament. (It is not clear if Kendrick was a no-show, a last-minute scratch due to injury, or if he had given notice previously that he would not compete.)

While this would not ordinarily raise any eyebrows, Kendrick's long-time partner Paul London had also cancelled all of his independent bookings, citing the return of the back problems that kept him from competing at PWG's DDT4 in 2009. Similarly, Daniel Bryan/Bryan Danielson (another of London's partners) had not been heard from since taking his leave of the WWE months before.

"Smart" wrestling fans at every Internet message board are quick to piece this together, remind everyone of the gimmick London and Danielson used as a team in PWG, and claim that they have deduced the identities of CombatANT, AssailANT, and DeviANT.

Despite their best efforts, a number of promotions fall victim to the more liberal (and wrestler-friendly) appearance contracts forced into place by the Hennigan settlement. With many wrestlers jumping ship and moving on to more lucrative opportunities with larger promotions (notably Ring of Honor, whose roster was decimated in the weeks after the settlement), a number of promotions find themselves woefully short of talent and forced to cancel booking dates.

Among those most heavily impacted are Philadelphia-based Combat Zone Wrestling; Iowa's 3XW; Northern Outlaw Wrestling, headquartered in North Dakota; Oshawa, Ontario's Great Canadian Wrestling; Ian Rotten's Independent Wrestling Association; and Heartland Wrestling Association, based out of Cincinnati.

These promotions either close up shop or place an indefinite hiatus on all programming. Other, less-severely impacted organizations scrounge together whatever local talent is available and limp forward with their planned events.
