"Lightning" Mike Quackenbush wins the 2002 Young Lions Cup Tournament!

* - After the match, Quackenbush humbly accepted the Young Lions Cup and sincerely thanked the CHIKARA fans for their support. Mike also pointed out that if not for the disgusting and cowardly behaviour of Kingston and Castagnoli during the tournament then his tag team partner Jigsaw could easily be the man holding up the Cup right now. Quackenbush vowed that both he and Jigsaw would do all they could to stop Kingston and Castagnoli's reign of terror in CHIKARA!

Welcome back CHIKARA fanatics to another episodic episode from the CHIKARA Event Center! I’m your host, CHIKARA Senior Offical Bryce Remsburg!

As well you kids know, last week saw CHIKARA run its biggest show to date, the immensely vast and appetizingly huge, Young Lions Cup Tournament over three crazy, hazy but certainly not lazy, summer nights at the New Alhambra in Philly; and WHAT a Tournament it was!

“The Beast from the East” Bam Bam Bigelow advanced all the way to the Finals to meet Calgary’s Bret “Hitman” Har…wait no, sorry *shuffles notes nervously*…ahem, lets try that again!

“Lightning” Mike Quackenbush emerged victorious as the first ever YLC Champion after seeing off the considerable challenges of “The Funky Pharaoh” Amasis, “The Winged Ring Warrior” Icarus, “The Venomous & Vile Serpent from the Nile” Ophidian and in the Tournament Finals, “The Angry Insect Evildoer” UltraMantis Black!

“Lightning” Mike wasn’t all smiles and sunshine though, despite his historic win. Along with his partner, Jigsaw, the Young Lions Cup Champion has promised to stop “The King of Diamonds” Eddie Kingston and the "Snobby Swiss Aristocrat" Claudio Castagnoli from terrorizing the CHIKARA roster!

Quack and Jigsaw have signed to team up with Dasher Hatfield and Sugar Dunkerton of The Throwbacks against Kingston and Castagnoli at our next show to be held in Pittston, Pennsylvania this coming Friday night! “The King of Diamonds” and Double C will be partnered by Ophidian - sure to be seeking revenge on the new YLC Champion having lost to “The Master of a Thousand Holds” in the Young Lions Cup Semis - and that “Delicious Dairy Deviant” from Mexicali, Mexico, Ice Cream, Jr. in an Atomico match of explosive proportions!

Probably the most chagrined man in all of CHIKARA right now though is Team F.I.S.T’s Icarus. After gaining an impressive pinfall win over Tim Donst in the Second Round of the Young Lions Cup Tournament, Icarus went down to a, ahem, *pulls shirt collar* somewhat dubious refereeing decision in the Quarter Finals against “Lightning” Mike Quackenbush…

Prior to the match, Icarus had been very vocal about how he was going to beat his former trainer. The Rudo will team with his partner “The Kentucky Gentleman” Chuck Taylor in Pittston and attempt to vent his frustrations on Fire Ant and Soldier Ant of The Colony!

CHIKARA fans will be aware that the ICW/ICWA Tex-Arkana Television Champion “Sweet & Sour” Larry Sweeney threw down the gauntlet, or at least a feather boa, to Hallowicked and Delirious during the Young Lions Cup Tournament, challenging Incoherence to a tag team duel in Pittston, along with his partner, Daizee Haze!

There is absolutely no love lost between Sweeney and Wicked in this heated rivalry - “Sweet & Sour” is still raging over having his TV strap stolen by “The Nightmare Warrior”, but can the same be said of Hallowicked and Daizee Haze? The actions of both Wicked and Daizee in recent weeks tend to suggest that we might just have ourselves a budding romance blooming in CHIKARA!

With us being only a few weeks away from the 11th anniversary of “Macho Man” Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth’s SummerSlam ‘91 “Match Made in Heaven” wedding, can CHIKARA look forward to the sound of church bells in the near future?!

Quack & Jigsaw vs. Kingston & Castagnoli has great potential. I was pulling for Ultramantis Black to win the YLC but Quack winning is cool too. I'm really interested to see where this Hallowicked and Daizee Haze story is going as well.

1. The Colony defeated F.I.S.T. when Fire Ant pinned Icarus following a Tandem Diving Stomp from the Ants! *

2. Sara Del Rey & El Generico defeated The Order of the Neo Solar Temple when Generico pinned Crossbones following a Vertical Suplex Powerbomb!

3. ”The King of Diamonds” Eddie Kingston, Claudio Castagnoli, Ophidian and Ice Cream, Jr. defeated Young Lions Cup Champion “Lightning” Mike Quackenbush, Jigsaw and The Throwbacks when Ice Cream, Jr. pinned Quackenbush following a Tilt a Whirl Backbreaker after, from the apron, Castagnoli had illegally cracked Quack with a hard knee in the back coming off the ropes!

4. Tim Donst defeated Amasis by count out when Amasis was lured out of the squared circle by ring announcer Carolina Jim and onto the stage at The Staircase! **

5. Johnny Saint defeated El Hijo del Ice Cream following a Cross-Body Block off the top rope!

* YOUR MAIN EVENT OF THE EVENING *

6. Sweet & Sour International defeated Incoherence when “Sweet & Sour” Larry Sweeney pinned Hallowicked after a 12 Large Flying Elbow! ***

* - Controversy raised its head at the climax of the match as Icarus again fell victim to a poor piece of officiating. After being smashed in a neutral corner by the Ants tandem diving stomps, Fire Ant fell on the Winged Ring Warrior for the cover. Icarus was just able to grab the bottom rope as, on a bang-bang play, the referee’s hand came down for the three count. The official called for the bell and awarded the win to The Colony, as an enraged Icarus vehemently protested the decision!

Grabbing the mic from the ring announcer, Carolina Jim, Icarus expressed his displeasure of recent dubious refereeing calls, explaining that if not for the obvious conspiracy against him, he would have won the Young Lions Cup tournament!

Icarus proceeded to call out the man who beat him at YLC two weeks earlier, the reigning Young Lions Cup Champion “Lightning” Mike Quackenbush!

Quackenbush emerged from the locker room to loud applause and agreed that Icarus had indeed been unfortunate in his last two outings. To put things right, The Master of a Thousand Holds agreed to defend his Young Lions Cup against Icarus at the next CHIKARA show two weeks from today in Hellertown!

** - Upset at a perceived lack of enthusiasm in Carolina Jim’s announcement of Amasis’ entrance, the Funky Pharaoh challenged CHIKARA’s resident ring announcer to a Dance-Off on the stage of The Staircase, usually a music venue!

Jim accepted the dancing challenge, and Amasis made his way out of the ring and onto the stage. While his Egyptian break dancing was soundly booed by the fans, the referee called for the bell to start the contest. With Amasis so caught up in trying to embarrass Carolina Jim, he was unaware that the match had begun and Tim Donst looked on in amused amazement as his Osirian opponent got counted out!

Amasis vowed to get his revenge on the ring announcer as Jim and Donst shared a high five and the cheers of the crowd for outsmarting the masked Rudo!

*** - Following the match, Sweeney was finally able to recover his ICW/ICWA Tex-Arkana Television Championship belt that had been stolen by Hallowicked more than two months ago!

Wicked, clearly distracted by his growing feelings for Daizee Haze, was a shadow of his normal self throughout the contest, even refusing to wrestle when Daizee was in the ring. Delirious was visibly frustrated by his partner’s lack of fighting spirit and berated the man from Sleepy Hollow after the match while Sweeney gloated triumphantly with his recovered strap.

Daizee, seemingly unconcerned with her team’s victory, stood on the ring apron for several moments looking on at the incoherent verbal tirade being levied against Hallowicked before she sullenly made her way back to the locker room…

What a fun show, Horrorshow! I really look forward to seeing Icarus win the Young Lions Cup!

A great YLC and Mike Quackenbush winning it is a good thing, but I was hoping Dasher Hatfield would've won. I'm liking Mike Quackenbush & Jigsaw are fighting the good fight versus the Rudos in your fed. It'll be fun to see how your next card unfolds...
