Thank you for the kind words, bookerbill! Lets keep things moving with the next show!
SHOW: Green Screen Time
DATE: May 9, 2003
VENUE: Fire Co. 1
LOCATION: Emmaus, PA
* - After UltraMantis Black had ordered his disciples Tim Donst and Crossbones to attack Mike Quackenbush on the last CHIKARA show, the “Master of a Thousand Holds” was in no mood for fun and games in this fiery singles collision!
Determined from the opening bell, Quack poured on the offense and the “Angry Insect Evildoer” barely escaped a number of covers and submission predicaments. Knowing he was in deep trouble, Mantis summoned Donst and Crossbones from the locker room to assist his cause!
Distracting both Quack and the referee throughout the remainder of the contest, Mantis robbed the first ever Young Lions Cup Champion of victory when the rudo stole a pin, surprising Mike with a precision Sunset Flip off the second turnbuckle!
Irritated that the skulduggery of The Order of the Neo Solar Temple had cost him the opportunity to somehow get closer to forcing Mantis to release his magical hold on Donst, Quack offered a wry smile in the knowledge that he would have other chances down the line…
** - Eddie Kingston and Daizee Haze dominated this match for Sweet & Sour International, much as they did throughout the King of Trios tournament back in March but in the end the tecnico trio hung on in there and eventually took advantage of an unfocused Larry Sweeney to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
Having spent precious little energy in helping his stable mates establish what looked like a winning position, Sweeney entered the contest late after Kingston and Haze had cut the ring in half and worked over Soldier Ant. Instead of finishing the “Militant Mat Mite” off, Sweeney seemed more interested in strutting around the ring and telling everyone that he was going to become the CHIKARA Grand Champion at Anniversario in two weeks time!
Soldier Ant was able to slip out to the floor and force a Lucha tag while Sweeney was up in Jigsaw’s face in the tecnico corner, poking his chest and telling him what a “Bush Leaguer” he was. The “Wrestling Riddle” must surely have been smiling under his mask as the arrogant leader of Sweet & Sour International turned around to find that Soldier Ant was no longer in the ring!
Quick as a flash, Jigsaw legally entered the contest, stunned Sweeney with his Jig n’ Tonic finisher and logged an improbable win! Kingston and Daizee were beside themselves afterwards, incredulous that Sweeney had thrown the bout away!
As the tecnicos celebrated their accomplishment, Kingston took exception to Jigsaw, calling him a “lucky punk” for winning the match and saying that one-on-one he could never beat the “King of Diamonds“! With the two rivals engaged in a shoving and shouting match, CHIKARA Ring Announcer Carolina Jim took to the microphone and informed everyone that Kingston and Jigsaw would meet in the first round of the CHIKARA Grand Championship tournament at Anniversario in two weeks time!
*** - This short match featured a shell shocked El Hijo del Ice Cream who was clearly still recovering physically and mentally from Los Ice Cream’s crushing loss two weeks ago to The Colony in the ULTIMATE UTENSIL-X match…
**** - Taking her substantial frustrations out on Ares for all the pain and suffering that Swiss Money Holding had cruelly forced Sara to endure over the last four months, the “Death Rey” was a flaming ball of fury during this heated encounter. Relentless in her assault on the co-holder of Los Campeonatos de Parejas, Sara was eventually DQ’d when she flatly refused to release Ares from her LeBell Lock despite gaining a submission from the Swiss rudo!
It took the intervention of her tag team partner, El Generico; and Amasis, who teamed with Sara and Generico on the last CHIKARA show to battle against Claudio Castagnoli in an atomico, for Del Rey to be convinced to release the painful hold.
Ares required medical attention after the bout as Sara’s two friends tried to calm her down. By now, Claudio Castagnoli was on the scene complaining that Sara was “an uncivilized brute” who “should be expelled from CHIKARA forever for callously attempting to injure Ares”.
As Generico and Amasis struggled to keep Sara from attacking Castagnoli, CHIKARA Ring Announcer Carolina Jim revealed to all that Del Rey had been drawn to face Claudio in the first round of the CHIKARA Grand Championship tournament taking place in two weeks time at Anniversario!
Castagnoli erupted angrily at Jim’s declaration, going completely berserk as the crowd cheered wildly in the realization that Sara would finally get the one-on-one match with the “Most Money Making Man” that she’d worked for all season long!
