* - Oddly, both UltraMantis Black and Crossbones refused to fight when they were legal in the match with Tim Donst, tagging out to either Castagnoli or Ice Cream, Jr. whenever said situation arose. Mightily confused, Donst got on with competing while both members of The Order of the Neo Solar Temple quietly conspired together on the ring apron…
** - Incoherence’s win was set up a couple of minutes from the end of the contest when Hallowicked viciously broke Amasis’ nose with a series of ultra-stiff forearm shots to the face! As the crimson flowed beneath Amasis’ mask, the Reading crowd voiced their disapproval of Wicked’s needlessly violent tactics and the “Funky Pharaoh” earned the sympathy of a CHIKARA audience for the very first time.
Delirious, as shocked as everyone else in attendance at his tag partner’s brutality, was able to tag himself in and mercifully pinned Amasis without inflicting too much further punishment on the battered Egyptian.
As Ophidian tended to his fallen comrade after the match, Hallowicked and Delirious briefly shared an incomprehensible, yet clearly heated, debate in the ring before peace was seemingly made and the two men exited the squared circle together to a very mixed response from the Chikarmy.
Moments later, as the “Venomous and Vile Serpent from the Nile” assisted a bloodied Amasis from the squared circle, a few “PORTAL-PORTAL-PORTAL” chants could be heard in sections of the crowd and an unexpected smattering of applause for the rudo team. Once on the floor, CHIKARA ring announcer Carolina Jim helped Ophidian guide the dazed Amasis back to the locker room.
*** - Predictably, Icarus and Chuck Taylor cynically targeted Quackenbush’s well publicized rib injury, causing further pain and damage to the “Master of a Thousand Holds” who courageously battled through the harsh treatment.
Some fifteen minutes into the contest, it had become all too clear that F.I.S.T. were not attempting to win the match and were instead only interested in hurting Jigsaw and aggravating Quack’s injury!
After several stern warnings from CHIKARA Senior Official Bryce Remsburg, the referee eventually called for the bell and awarded victory to the tecnico team on a “Castigo Excesivo” (Excessive Punishment) ruling while the “Winged Ring Warrior” and so-called “Kentucky Gentleman” heartily stomped away on a fallen “Lightning” Mike in the rudo corner!
Making a timely save, Jigsaw was able to see off F.I.S.T. before they could cause permanent harm to his tag partner. Proud of their dubious handiwork, Icarus and Taylor soaked up the scorn of the crowd as they smugly made their way back to the locker room before the delighted pair of “The King of Diamonds” Eddie Kingston and Claudio Castagnoli appeared at the curtain to congratulate F.I.S.T. on a job well done…
**** - As Generico and Del Rey headed back to the locker room, celebrating a hard fought and popular Championship victory with their new straps held high, a fuming mad Larry Sweeney flew off the handle and scolded Daizee for getting pinned and losing the titles!
Bullying his partner, Sweeney threw insult after insult at Daizee, accusing her of “not having her head or heart in the game” before he left her sobbing in a corner of the ring and stomped off and out of the building with his precious ICW/ICWA Tex-Arkana Television Championship belt!
