SHOW: Tag World Grand Prix (Final Four)DATE: September 27, 2002 (Evening Show)VENUE: New AlhambraLOCATION: Philadelphia, PA
Tag World Grand Prix Semi Finals
1. ”The King of Diamonds“ Eddie Kingston & Claudio Castagnoli defeated F.I.S.T. when Chuck Taylor was deliberately counted out! *
2. Sweet & Sour International defeated Sara Del Rey & Young Lions Cup Champion El Generico when “Sweet & Sour” Larry Sweeney pinned Del Rey following a Piledriver! **
(“The King of Diamonds” Eddie Kingston & Claudio Castagnoli will face Sweet & Sour International in the Tournament Finals) * - With Taylor already proven to be on Kingston and Castagnoli’s payroll, “The King of Diamonds” took to the mic after the bell rang to start the match. With the crowd booing loudly, Kingston promised F.I.S.T. two things if they stepped aside and allowed him as his aristocratic partner to advance to the Finals. Firstly, a whole lot of money from one of Claudio’s Swiss bank accounts and secondly, the first title shot at Los Campeonatos de Parejas once Kingston and Castagnoli had won Tag World Grand Prix. Reluctant at first, Icarus was soon convinced by the eager Taylor to accept Kingston’s offer. Castagnoli handed F.I.S.T. a briefcase with a huge dollar sign emblazoned on the front as Icarus and Taylor headed back to the locker room while the referee counted to twenty. Pleased with their work, Kingston and Castagnoli soaked up the deafening disapproval of the crowd as their hands were raised in victory! ** - Quality match.

SHOW: Tag World Grand Prix (Finals)DATE: September 27, 2002 (Evening Show)VENUE: New AlhambraLOCATION: Philadelphia, PA
Tag World Grand Prix Finals
1. Sweet & Sour International defeated ”The King of Diamonds“ Eddie Kingston & Claudio Castagnoli by disqualification when Castagnoli was DQ’d! *
(Sweet & Sour International win Tag World Grand Prix and are crowned the first ever Campeones de Parejas!) * - Before the opening bell, Kingston attempted to bribe Sweet & Sour International into dropping the contest but the ICW/ICWA Tex-Arkana Television Champion “Sweet & Sour” Larry Sweeney wasn’t in the least bit interested! Taking the mic from “The King of Diamonds”, Sweeney reminded his opponents that, being the monumentally successful professional wrestler and business aficionado that he was, the “Golden Palomino” could not be bought off with something as common as mere money! Sweeney then crashed the mic down hard into Kingston’s skull and the match was on! After Sweet & Sour International enjoyed a few minutes of offense and a couple of near falls, Kingston and Castagnoli established control of the bout. For long spells, the Rudos pounded on and stretched Sweeney and Haze mercilessly but both members of Sweet & Sour International hung on and showed great resilience! With frustration setting in, Kingston distracted referee Bryce Remsburg while Castagnoli ascended to the top rope with one of his briefcases, ready to crush the prone Larry Sweeney in the center of the ring! Flying through the air, the “Snobby Swiss Aristocrat” nailed Sweeney hard and true but Bryce was wise to Kingston and Castagnoli’s rule breaking habits! CHIKARA’s Senior Official immediately called for the bell and declared Sweet & Sour International the winners of the match, tournament and Los Campeonatos de Parejas! Knocked silly from being smashed with Castagnoli’s briefcase, a woozy Larry Sweeney celebrated as best he could while an emotionless Daizee accepted her Championship belt and stared at it coldly…

I have to agree with Crimson, a really fun tag tournament and it is cool seeing Sweet n' Sour take the straps. I was pulling for Kingston & Claudio but not after what they did buying out FIST and then trying to do the same in the finals. Looking forward to upcoming shows.

SHOW: Acting Like We’ve Been Here BeforeDATE: October 11, 2002VENUE: Children’s Home of EastonLOCATION: Easton, PA
1. Young Lions Cup Champion El Generico, Sara Del Rey & The Colony defeated ”The King of Diamonds“ Eddie Kingston, Claudio Castagnoli and The Order of the Neo Solar Temple when Generico pinned Mantis following a Spike Brainbuster! *2. Jigsaw defeated El Hijo del Ice Cream when Jigsaw pinned El Hijo following a Jig n‘ Tonic! 3. The Throwbacks defeated F.I.S.T. by count out when Icarus couldn‘t meet the referee‘s twenty count out on the floor! 4. The Osirian Portal defeated Johnny Saint & Tim Donst when Ophidian pinned Donst following the Osirian Sacrament! *** YOUR MAIN EVENT OF THE AFTERNOON * 5. Los Campeones de Parejas Sweet & Sour International & Ice Cream, Jr. defeated ”Lightning“ Mike Quackenbush & Incoherence when Quackenbush passed out in “Sweet & Sour” Larry Sweeney’s Boa Constrictor! *** * - Quality match. ** - Quality match. After the contest (and following up on the promise he made prior to Tag World Grand Prix) a boyant Amasis squared off against CHIKARA ring announcer Carolina Jim in an eagerly awaited Dance-Off showdown! Going first in the competition, the “Funky Pharaoh” could only earn the spite of the crowd despite his best efforts to impress. When his time came to strut his stuff, Carolina Jim, despite dancing akin to a drunken Dad at a wedding, could do no wrong in the eyes of the Chikarmy! Cheers reigned down as Jim busted out his best John Travolta disco moves! With CJ as the clear and popular winner, a deeply upset Amasis grabbed a mic and proclaimed that with such a biased audience, the Dance-Off was completely unfair on him! With that Amasis offered the shocking revelation that he would NEVER dance in front of a CHIKARA crowd AGAIN! *** - Again, just as he did at Tag World Grand Prix, Sweeney took advantage of the severely damaged ribs of Quackenbush, targeting the injury throughout the match before capturing the “Master of a Thousand Holds” in the Boa Constrictor and forcing him to pass out in pain! During the contest, the action became very heated when Daizee Haze and Hallowicked were in the ring together. CHIKARA Senior Official Bryce Remsburg had his hands full preventing the action between the two spiralling out of control and becoming too violent. Wicked was still raging after the match, taking a steel chair and crashing it several times into the steel ring post to relieve his frustrations. In stark contrast, Daizee returned to her icy demeanour, collected her Championship strap and left for the locker room while an elated Sweeney and Ice Cream, Jr. celebrated their Main Event victory in the ring.

It's good that S&S won, but I'm really glad the Throwbacks defeated F.I.S.T. on the night...

October 14, 2002: Episode 7 Howdy pro wrestling fans! CHIKARA’s Senior Official Señor Bryce Remsburg here, coming right at you LIVE (sort of) from the CHIKARA Event Center hidden deep in a secret location on the Rebel Moon of Endor! We’re getting ourselves all revved up for our next show that takes place in just eleven days time when we’ll be heading back to Reading in the great State of Pennsylvania for our next super wrasslin’ spectacular, ”Carolina Jim‘s Silk Shirt" Would you believe that several sizzling hot matches have already been signed for the event?! “Lightning” Mike Quackenbush and his tag team partner Jigsaw will take on Icarus and Sexy Chuckie T of F.I.S.T in two-on-two action, while the unpredictable Incoherence will do battle with The Osirian Portal and in our blockbuster Main Event, the reigning Campeones de Parejas, “Sweet & Sour” Larry Sweeney and Daizee Haze will put their tag titles on the line for the very first time against the sensational tecnico duo of Sara Del Rey and Young Lions Cup Champion, the “Generic Luchador” El Generico!
Its been a rough month or so for former Young Lions Cup Champion, “Lightning” Mike Quackenbush. After defeating “The King of Diamonds” Eddie Kingston last month in a vicious No Count Out, No Disqualification match, Kingston repeatedly dropped the “Master of a Thousand Holds” over the steel ring barricade and severely injured Quack’s ribs! [Clip insert from “The Gigantic Vision”, Reading, PA, September 13, 2002 as Kingston introduces Quackenbush’s ribs to the unforgiving steel!]Despite his physical condition, Quackenbush has bravely fought on but has since fell victim not once but twice to costly submission losses. [Clip inserts from “Tag World Grand Prix” and “Acting Like We’ve Been Here Before” from Philadelphia, PA and Easton, PA respectively of Quack being trapped in “Sweet & Sour” Larry Sweeney’s punishing Boa Constrictor submission hold!]With friends and fans alike calling for Quackenbush to take some time off from the squared circle to heal, Mike has vowed to remain active and get even with Kingston and his partner in crime, the “Snobby Swiss Aristocrat” Claudio Castagnoli who have plagued both him and the “Wrestling Riddle” Jigsaw throughout the year. F.I.S.T. have already enjoyed success over “Lightning” Mike this season with Icarus dethroning Quackenbush as Young Lions Cup Champion in August and with Chuck Taylor’s “business” relationship with Kingston and Castagnoli already well known will this be another painful night for Quack and Jigsaw in Reading on October 25th?
Another individual who hasn’t fared overly well of late in CHIKARA is Amasis. Despite snatching a tag team victory with the “Venomous and Vile Serpent from the Nile” Ophidian over Johnny Saint and Tim Donst in a great match three nights ago in Easton, the “Funky Pharaoh” lost his on-going war with CHIKARA ring announcer Carolina Jim in a Dance-Off! [Clip insert from “Acting Like We’ve Been Here Before”, Easton, PA, October 11, 2002 as an enraged Amasis looks on at Carolina Jim “cutting a rug”, much to the delight of the cheering fans!]The sour Amasis has now promised never to dance before a CHIKARA crowd again but that might be the least of his worries in eleven days time. The Osirian Portal face Incoherence, CHIKARA’s most volatile team and Hallowicked has been in no mood for fun and games ever since Daizee Haze rejected him. [Clip insert from “The Gigantic Vision”, Reading, PA, September 13, 2002 as a tearful Daizee reluctantly crumples Hallowicked to the mat with a crushing Heart Punch!]The “Dark Minion of the Underworld” has employed a far more aggressive and violent style in the ring since this unfortunate incident. Will Delirious be able to keep his tag team partner under control in Reading on October 25th or will Wicked vent more of his frustrations on The Osirian Portal?!
Speaking of Daizee Haze, together with her partner, the ICW/ICWA Tex-Arkana Television Champion “Sweet & Sour” Larry Sweeney, they will defend Los Campeonatos de Parejas in our Main Event at “Carolina Jim’s Silk Shirt” against the union of Sara Del Rey and Young Lions Cup Champion, El Generico! Sweeney and Haze have been on an epic roll of late, winning the recent Tag World Grand Prix tournament in Philadelphia and, with a little help from Ice Cream, Jr., defeating “Lightning” Mike Quackenbush and Incoherence 72 hours ago in Easton. Del Rey and Generico are no strangers to success themselves though and both teams bring plenty of momentum into this Championship bout! Can Sweet & Sour International notch up their first title defense or will we see another inter-gender duo take charge in CHIKARA’s competitive tag team division?! Answers to these questions and no doubt many more will be revealed in eleven days time in Reading, PA at the Riverside Beneficial Association! Tickets are on sale right now via chikarapro.com so do yourself a huge favor and grab as many as you can! I’ve been Bryce Remsburg. Thank you as always for watching the CHIKARA Event Center. Meet me back here next time so long as the Empire hasn‘t destroyed our heavily forested, Ewok infested Moon!
