Brodie Lee vs. Jimmy Jacobs
for the ROH World Television Championship
Brodie Lee defeated Jimmy Jacobs with a Black Hole Slam at 11:25
Match Rating: 2.50
Match Notes: It looks like any desire to get Brodie Lee to join the Age of the Fall has gone right out the window.
In the opening moments, Jacobs landed a dropkick and then spit in Lee's face! Brodie was enraged and not even a springboard dropkick would slow him down. Jacobs attempted a sunset flip off the ropes, but Lee dropped down and began assailing him with stiff forearms!
After that Brodie was in full control of the match and used a combination of his size, power, and brawling skills to decimate the Age of the Fall's leader. Jacobs kept getting the shoulder up, tho.
At one point they seemed to spend more time out of the ring than in it and certainly came close to being DQ'd or counted out.
Finally, Brodie rolled Jacobs in and hit a Brodie Bomb! Necro Butcher and Delirious are out! The ref immediately sees them and after some arguing sends them to the back, meanwhile, Jacobs grabs the ref, but Todd Sinclair is having none of it!
Jacobs turns around into a Black Hole Slam and Lee makes the cover for the 1, 2, 3!
But Butcher and Delirious are back! Where is Tyler Black?!
Lee is standing in the middle of the ring as Necro Butcher and Delirious (decked out in red), climb in...
JACOBS: [breathing heavily, and obviously hurting] Wait... Wait... Brodie... I tried... I tried to tell you... Things have changed... I'm not the same man I was a year ago... And neither are they... Delirious knows what it's like to feel my pain... The pain of rejection... The pain in your heart when love does nothing but betray you and make you bleed... Necro Butcher knows the pain of a world that only wants to see you bleed... And you know the pain of being a man so misunderstood by the world, you don't even want to speak to the people... We're here for you Brodie... The Age of the Fall... Will always be here...
Butcher and Delirious help Jacobs from the ring as the TV champ stands silent, watching them leave.
Kevin Steen vs. Tyler Black
This match ended in a draw (Time Limit Draw) at 15:00
Match Rating: 4.25
Match Notes: This match ended up being incredible as both men fought like they had something to prove.
They went back and forth in and out of the ring and even when Black was able to build a head of steam, Steen would not stay down! He survived three pin attempts in a row after some of Black's highest impact offense including a buckle bomb, a fireman's carry gutbuster, and God's Last Gift!
Things would spill outside and Steen was cut open after being sent head first into the barricade! Black rolled the bloodied Steen in and went up top signaling for the PHOENIX SPLASH! Steen moves!!!!
Black is down and the bloodied Kevin Steen comes back to life in a big way! He slaps on a sharpshooter, but Black was able to get to the ropes. Steen would even hit the moonsault and action spilled out again...
Steen power bombed Black on the apron! Black was nearly counted out, but he made it back in and somehow the odds were evened again!
They continued to go back and forth in and out of the ring as time ticked by.
Finally Black hit God's Last Gift, but Steen got back up!!!
Superkick! Steen is still on his feet!
But the bell rings as the fans chant for more time and we have a draw!
Delirious and Necro Butcher are out as Jimmy Jacobs stands in the entry way... Ignoring hit team mates, Black shakes Steens hand as the fans applaud and Jacobs leaves through the curtain...
Delirious and Butcher make no move on Tyler Black as he walks past them to the back...
Steen, bloodied and exhausted leaves the ring...
Delirious mists him!!! Steen is down and in pain! His blood mixed with the red mist!
Roderick Strong vs. Bryan Danielson
for the ROH World Heavyweight Championship
Bryan Danielson defeated Roderick Strong with a choke at 4:06
Match Rating: 0.10
Match Notes: The American Dragon, Bryan Danielson, proved himself to be in a class of his own with a punishing display against Roderick Strong.
Strong came out with a body slam, but Dragon was up almost immediately then whipped him over with a Dragon Suplex! Strong was up and got met with a discus elbow smash that nearly took his head off and Danielson scored a near fall.
The next few minutes saw Danielson stretch him and pound on him until he hit another discus elbow and then followed it with a choke hold!
Strong passed out and the ref gave the match to the champion!
AJ Styles hit the ring almost immediately and laid the challenge out for the champ! Austin Aries and then Christopher Daniels hit the ringside area too, but it was only the champ and Styles in the ring...
Danielson held up his title and then laid it on the mat between he and Styles, grabbing a mic.
DANIELSON: AJ, I beat you once... I can beat you again. You saw what I did to your partner and you've just seen what I'll do when the belt is on the line. So, if you want a shot... Next month, July 19th, Chicago Ridge... You've got it... But I have a stipulation... Let's go old school... Two out of three falls! And if I can beat you in two straight, as long as I have this, you will NEVER get another shot!
STYLES: Bryan, I've got no problems with any kind of match you want... But if I beat you in two straight, the same goes for you! No title shots, no rematches! And if you think Roderick Strong or even my best friend and partner, Chris Daniels are the likes of what you'll be dealing with in Chicago... You must be out of your damned mind!
The tension is thick, but they seal the deal with a handshake as their respective partners look on.
