I can see eliminating sales of the actual flag, but eliminating sales from Movie and TV shows that feature it is absolutely ridiculous.
The Dukes of Hazard is a prime example, they never used that Flag as a "Racist Symbol" it was used more to show that the show took place in the southern states.

I have ZERO desire to fly the flag, even though some folks in MN still do despite clearly not being in the south. I understand that the flag stood for a lot more than slavery but I also don't understand how some people don't understand why slavery is the first thing people think of when they see that flag.
Should it be outlawed/banned? No. That's stupid. If you outlaw this then there's a whole host of other things that need to be banned. We can't possibly outlaw everything that offends someone else, though certainly there are those that would like to try.

I agree that it should be banned from government buildings. However, anyone should be allowed to buy anything with the likeness of the flag or that involves it. This includes, movies, games, books, or the flags themselves. Just like with the Nazi flag. If my neighbor wants to fly it in his yard, that's his right, whether I like it or not.

I love it when people try to ban something, you end up see that thing everywhere. I have seen more rebel flags in the past month than I have in the past 41 years of my life. Nearly every truck I see has one flying. People wearing tee shirts and hats with it shown.
To us in the South, the rebel flag does not stand for slavery, that is just ignorant. It is a battle flag, not a state flag, troops marched, killed, and died under it. My ancestors killed and died under it. Not for slavery, but for their home, their families, and their way of life. The Confederate States are long since gone as is it's flag. But the rebel flag which flew before the war started will always fly, especially when met with ignorant narrow minded bigots who think that everything so called "offensive" should be eliminated from history. Who else thought like this??? Oh yeah, NAZIS. Good company to be in.

I say let people fly it. Not sure when Southern pride started to equal traitors and losers but whatever. If people really want to show they are rebels they should fly the original USA flag. Don't Tread On Me.

So when some radical person decides to fly the flag of the Islamic State that's gonna be cool to right? The problem people of color have with flag is that throughout history the atrocities committed against many African Americans were perpetrated with the Confederate flag as a unifying symbol for those actions not as a symbol of southern pride or sovereignty.

Once again. The rebel flag and the flag of the Confederacy are two different flags. The rebel flag (the one on top of the Dukes of Hazard's General Lee) was the battlefield flag of the army of Virginia. The whole of the Southern army started to use it as the Confederate flag looked to much like the Union flag, and there was a lot of "friendly fire" due to confusion. The rebel flag as it is called now represents the soldiers who fought and died. It does not represent the slavery, bigotry, or intolerance. And we in the South are not going to let people use it as such, or denounce it for such reasons. The KKK, neo Nazis, or any other hate group has NO authority to use the flag, they have tried to usurp it, like the Nazis did with the swastika was stolen from Asian cultures and religions. It true meaning is "good fortune", "Well being", and even "Hope". We can not let these evil people take our culture and use it for their own ends. I will fight for it.

All flags are offensive to someone ? Where does it end ? Shouldn't the USA flag be a red Indian flag ?
