Nice win over the Chiefs. More than ever, they should lock up Pierce. If I am not mistaken, although they can of course ultimately keep Pierce if he is their choice, the Raiders are first required by the NFL after the season to open the head coaching position to outside candidates including interviewing at least two outside minority or female candidates. I do think firing McDaniels was the correct move and I am definitley open to keeping Pierce (partly depending on who becomes available.) Correct under the updated Rooney rule they first through the interview process. Hope they do hire him though.

I understand the rule and sadly it's needed but there should be exceptions. One being when dealing with someone in house. Especially going from intern coach to full time. The other should be when wanting to hire a coach with numerous years of HC experience. I mean if someone wants to sign Belichick next season doing interviews for anyone else would be for show.

I agree, but after the Brian Flores incident I think the NFL realized they had to fix some issues with the system.

I enjoy looking at the box score for the Raiders because I almost always see Ameer Abdullah's name listed. He is not good enough anymore to be a feature back, but I do think he is a bit underused. Either way, he is still getting carries and catches.

It is looking ike Michigan's Jim Harbaugh is a relistic possibility to become the new head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Harbaugh rcently hired Don Yee, an NFL agent whose clients included Tom Brady who is currently in the process of purchasing a minority stake in the Raiders (Brady already owns a minority stake inthe Las Vegas Aces which is also owned by Raiders owner Mark Davis,) Harbaugh's wife is from Las Vegas, and Harbaugh used to work for the Raiders as the QB coach for two seasons.
we will see what happens, but I am really hoping whoever becomes the full-time new head coach can turn this franchise around

They're also rumored to be looking after Old Bill so they can continue their trend of being Patriots West.

ESPN did a review of the two QBs in the national championship game tomorrow and hinted that if Harbaugh does take the Vegas job that they might draft JJ McCarthy. He might be a good fit for them. Strong arm and gritty. He did have huge stats at Michigan but with that running game of theirs he did not need to throw a lot.

Antonio Pierce is officially the Raiders HC. Congrats to him. I am cautiously optimistic about AP getting the job full time. The Raiders definitely played better under him and the players absolutely like him (but a good coach will always be there longer than most of the current players and a coaching position should never be a popularity contest,) yet they only had one victory against a team (Chiefs on Christmas) over .500 under AP. I like the Raiders but I think I personally might have preferred a more established/proven coach such as Harbaugh. I will however of course be happy if the Raiders win with AP.

The key is getting the right GM to get the right players. The Raiders have a few pieces to build around but need more. As good as Campbell has been for the Lions they would not be as good if not for Holmes. Those two have worked wonderful together. Holmes has got the players, especially in the draft, to help Campbell do what he needs to do to win. It will be interesting to see who the Raiders get and how things pan out over next 2-3 years.
