Nice surprise following Smackdown tonight here in Canada. Golden Knights v Ducks on Sportsnet 360, so I get to watch the game I was supposed to go to tonight's game, but I have been out sick with the flu which is also keeping me home from work tomorrow. The Golden Knights have a viewing party scheduled for Friday's game at Nacho Daddy within walking distance from my home which I may go to if I feel better.

Fleury activated off injured reserve by Golden Knights Goalie has missed past 25 games with concussion NHL.COM
Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury was activated from injured reserve by the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday.
Fleury, 33, sustained a concussion in a 6-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Oct. 13 and was placed on injured reserve the next day. He has missed the past 25 games.
Fleury returned to practice Wednesday. He is 3-1-0 with a 2.48 goals-against average and .925 save percentage.
The Golden Knights went 16-8-1 during Fleury's absence. Backup Malcolm Subban is 7-2-0 with a 2.33 GAA and .924 save percentage in 10 appearances (nine starts) despite missing four weeks with a lower-body injury. Oscar Dansk was 3-0-0 with a 1.78 GAA and .946 save percentage in four appearances (three starts) before sustaining a lower-body injury on Oct. 30; he has not played since. Maxime Lagace, who was assigned to Chicago of the American Hockey League to make room for Fleury, was 6-6-1 in 14 games (13 starts), with a 3.79 GAA and .872 save percentage after being called up on Oct. 22. He made an NHL career-high 36 saves in a 5-3 win at the Dallas Stars on Saturday.
The Golden Knights (19-9-1) are in second place in the Pacific Division with 39 points, four behind the Los Angeles Kings (20-8-3). They play the Carolina Hurricanes at T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday.
On Thursday, the Golden Knights host the defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins. Fleury was a member of the Penguins from 2003-17 and played on championship teams with Pittsburgh in 2009, 2016 and 2017 before being selected by the Golden Knights in the NHL Expansion Draft on June 21.
This is great news for the Golden Knights. Sucks for Maxime Lagace as he was sent back down to the AHL Chicago Wolves, at least he'll get a lot of playing time down there. I wasn't aware that Oscar Dansk hasn't played since he got hurt in October really sucks for him, hope he gets better soon.

Golden Knights 3, Capitals 0
I was actually offered a ticket to tonight's game but had to turn it down because I flew to Seattle tonight. This was Fleury's first shutout as a Golden Knight.

Golden Knights 4, Ducks 1Golden Knights win again and in the process set a record as they are the first expansion team to ever get 1 point for the standings in 10 straight games during which tie they gave gone 9-0-1! Edit: Golden Knights now have 50 points which is the most in the league except for Tampa Bay who the Golden Knights actually defeated earlier this month. We are heading into New Years weekend and the Golden Knights are currently 2nd in the entire NHL in points in their first season ever!

The next two months will be make or break for the Golden Knights. They play 13 of their next 19 on the road, after that they close out February with 8 of 9 at home.
George McPhee will have to closely monitor how Vegas is preforming especially with several guys set to become UFA's at the end of the season. Does he try to sign them and make a push for a hopefully deep playoff run, or does he start shopping those guys around to see what assets he can get for them.
If Vegas can pick up 7 or 8 victories during the 13 on the road I could see McPhee pushing to resign as many of the UFA's as possible before the trade deadline, which is February 26th, right near the end of their 8 of 9 at home to close out February.
Also during this next stretch of games Vegas has 3 back to backs involving travel, after they wrap up tonight's California back to back against the Kings. Those back to backs are against St. Louis and Chicago, Florida and Tampa Bay, and finally Winnipeg and Minnesota.
I honestly want to see Vegas pick up another forward or two, maybe a defenseman and make a run at the playoffs. Hopefully they can sign at least half of their UFA's to extensions, even if those are just one year deals.
For the record the UFA's on the Golden Knights roster are (according to CapFriendly.com):
FORWARDS
James Neal Mikhail Grabovski David Perron Jonathan Marchessault
DEFENCEMEN
Luca Sbisa Clayton Stoner Deryk Engelland Jason Garrison
In addition to trying to sign or move those players George McPhee also has to decide what to do with the following RFA's:
FORWARDS
William Karlsson William Carrier Tomas Nosek
DEFENCEMEN
Jon Merrill Colin Miller Shea Theodore
GOALIES
Oscar Dansk
Needless to say George McPhee will probably be one of the busiest men over the next couple of months.
