Fluery is out with a concussion. Maybe they should not have traded Pickard. yeah I wish they had not traded Pickard (I was glad when they selected him in the expansion draft) and I hope Fleury returns soon however Malcolm Subban did a terrific job as goalie last night as he was 30 seconds short of a shutout of the Boston Bruins (his former team, I bet they regret releasing him) and the player (Alex Tuch) called up to take Fleury's spot on the roster scored a goal and had an assist in the Vegas Knights 3-1 defeat of the Boston Bruins

On the bright side for Vegas is the Leafs tossed them a couple of players for Pickard. The Leafs literally could have taken him for nothing after Vegas placed him on waivers.

They didn't do that because they couldn't move him between the AHL and NHL if they claimed him.

When you are claiming a player off of waivers in the NHL you can still assign that player to the Minors without them going back on waivers. So the Toronto Maple Leafs in the case of Calvin Pickard really overpaid for him. Once Vegas placed him on waiver the Leafs could have just selected him, assigned him to the Toronto Marlies and left it at that.
Instead the Leafs gave up a pair of prospects to Vegas for Pickard. I'm not sure if they missed his name being on the daily waiver list or not, either way Vegas got something out of the move (which I am a little shocked they made in the first place) as I felt Pickard could have been the Golden Knights starter in a few years once Fleury becomes a UFA.
Speaking of Vegas, they are having sh!tty luck with their goalies right now. First Fleury goes down with a concussion and now Subban is out for a few weeks at least with a lower body injury. If they keep losing Goalies at this rate they may have to sign someone who's currently been sitting out awaiting a contract of some type or make a trade or two to add some immediate depth to the position.
I hope this revolving door between the pipes stops spinning for the Golden Knights as the further they get down the depth chart the least likely they are to keep up their early momentum.

What is going on in the Vegas net? If things get any worse they may have to dress and sign Air Bud and start him in net.
First they lose Marc-Andre Fleury to a concussion and right now there is no time table for his return. He is with the team during their current road trip, but as of today he hasn't skated with the team yet and is working out on his own.
Next Malcolm Subban went down and will be out at least two more weeks.
Then Oscar Dansk went down with a knee injury and won't be back for the rest of there current road trip.
Maxime Lagacé is now the number one guy and Golden Knights were forced to recall 19-year-old junior goaltender Dylan Ferguson on an emergency basis from Kamloops of the Western Hockey League. If either one of those two go down with an injury before either Fleury and Subban are ready to comeback I don't know who they have left under contract.
Worst case they'll be forced to make an emergency trade for a goaltender, which would probably cost them an arm and a leg or they could try to sign someone who isn't currently signed to an NHL contract. Sadly I can't think of anyone who would could step in and carry the team long term. Hopefully George McPhee is already preparing plans F through Z if things get any worse.
In all seriousness I really hope that the Golden Knights Goalie injury curse comes to end sooner then later. Cause sadly all three men went down as they were playing well. I honestly can't remember the last time a team faced this kind of issue so early into the season, let alone during the first year of their existence.

The Ship situation is a really bad look for Vegas as a franchise and I think that might hurt them in the future with free agent signings.

The Ship situation is a really bad look for Vegas as a franchise and I think that might hurt them in the future with free agent signings. What is the Ship Situation? Vadim Shipachyov. Vegas signed Russian free agent forward Vadim Shipachyov from SKA Saint Petersburg of the Kontinental Hockey League (Russia) to a two-year contract worth an average annual salary of $4.5 million. nhl.nbcsports.com/2017/11/02/report-vadim-shipachyov-back-in-russia-golden-knights-have-work-to-do/Now he's leaving them to return to Russia. Vegas fans are saying that the whole thing with Ship is ridiculous and just plain embarrassing for the Knights.

They essentially mismanaged their assets and tried to send him to the AHL because they are afraid to send some fairly worthless 6th and 7th D men through waivers. Ship is waiver exempt right now.
They paid signed him for 4.5 for 2 years and were jerking him around between the AHL and NHL.

They are also dragging their feet terminating him from his contract as well.
