I’ve been watching the Ten sounds of Gold series. Today I read an article concerning the NWA possibly getting a show on TBS. I really miss the old territory days. I know they are never coming back but I hope Corgan keeps the old school “pro wrestling is a combat sport” that the territories had. I’m going to throw my support behind this new NWA so long as Corgan doesn’t turn the NWA into WWE style sports entertainment. I've got a good feeling about what Corgan has done so far. What they definitely don't want to do is hire the next round of people the WWE releases and put them in competitive matches with Tim Storm. It doesn't look good to have your champ struggle against people who've been losing on TV/haven't been on TV much recently.

The thing to consider is that we still don't know 'what' Corgan owns outside of the belt and the name. He doesn't really have an established roster outside of I guess Tim Storm and Nick Aldis. He doesn't really have his own promotion, he mostly has Tim Storm wrestling on indies. The TBS thing is interesting because they're a big cable network and TBS was the NWA's home for years but Corgan's going to want money and what is the current NWA really worth in terms of money-for-airtime? Obviously he's not going to get near WWE money for TV rights...but what exactly does he have to offer?

They could, but it doesn't really help Corgan in terms of making the show more valuable to TBS because there's a lack of big names. If they were able to snake a few of the big names from WWN or ROH and get CWFH all in on the deal, it could be a very interesting game changer but I'm not sure how likely any of it is to happen. The TBS thing is just a rumor right now, who knows if it'll end up panning out?

I like how Tim Storm is defending the title in different indie promotions. While not truly territories as most promote shows in a single city/building it is a fun concept. Corgan said he dissolved the NWA affiliates but perhaps something similar could be built?
I saw that Tommy Dreamer asked for a shot at the title on House of Hardcore.

Tim travelling around defending the title could really get the word out and develop a following. However, I can see it backfiring because Storm isn't the spot monkey performer the smark crowds are into. I hope it works out because I really like what they are doing so far.

For those of you interested Dave laguno gave an interview on Wade Keller’s podcast about their plans for the NWA moving forward. It was from a few weeks ago. From what I remember, they aren’t actively seeking a tv deal and they didn’t plan on just signing a bunch of guys just to fill out a roster. The important thing for him was making us care about the title and build the promotion out from there. He also said they weren’t going to fast track it, the important thing was getting it right. Listening to the interview he sold me on it.
Thought I haven’t had time to catch up on the First title match I thought 10 pounds of gold was great.

Getting people to care about the belt again is key. The 10 Pounds of Gold is the best thing to happen to the NWA belt in a couple decades.

I’ve been checking out the indies on FITE that may be able to be part of what Corgan is doing. Evolution Championship Wrestling and Rocky Mountain Pro seem like semi-solid promotions. Booker T has Reality of Wrestling. Plus there are a few others that have a good product. Now I don’t know these promotions backstage political situations that would allow or prevent them working with Corgan.
Throw in the working relationship with CWFH, CZW and what now looks like House of Hardcore, the NWA could really be building something solid here with the traveling champion.
Perhaps I’m just getting my hopes up but it doesn’t hurt to dream.

It would be good to see the NWA return to a good place in our world today, plus I've been watching old 80's NWA WCW on the Network and its a blast watching it. So to see Corgan and his NWA have success would draw me to their product, so we will see what future this NWA has to come...
