On the list of things I probably wouldn't have done, putting the NWA Title on Nick Aldis was really high up there.
EDIT: Changing the title on a CZW show probably wasn't a great idea and I've read that the Aldis/Storm match was bad and the crowd was not happy with the ending. They built a lot of momentum with those hype videos and I really, really hope they're not gonna start doing dumb stuff and kill this revival off before it really gets started.

Yeah, I'm suddenly way less interested.

Two steps forward, three steps back. Just when it appeared that Tim Storm was gaining serious momentum too. Strange decision.

I was afraid of this happening. When I saw Aldis was getting a rematch so soon, I thought "Oh, no. They're going to put the belt on him." This revival was built on Tim Storm. As @switch said, they totally killed the momentum. I think they are going to find that this was a mistake. Fans aren't going to like it. Disappointing.

"You know that guy that has the fans caring about the NWA belt again for the first time in 30 years? Let's replace him with a guy they're used to see losing on Impact."

"You know that guy that has the fans caring about the NWA belt again for the first time in 30 years? Let's replace him with a guy they're used to see losing on Impact." I mean, Aldis was one of the names most commonly mentioned as being Corgan and Lagana's top guy when Corgan bought the company so it's not shocking in that regard but after you do a simple series of vidoes that makes even some of the most cynical fans go 'alright this is good'...how the hell do you just go "alright time to put the belt on the guy nobody's ever cared about"? It kind of feels like classic TNA. Build momentum for a month by doing something right and then completely torpedo it and destroy anyone's interest in seeing how things play out...and they're doing this before they even got something off the ground. There's still no roster, still no TV deal, still nothing more than a belt and three letters that before last night had some actual buzz around them for the first time since TNA withdrew from the NWA.

I thing Aldis will be a good champion I also wouldn’t be surprised if they go with a traveling “Heel” Champion for awhile. Kind of like Flair used to do way back in the day. He would roll into different territories and defend against the top baby face. It got the face over and generated a ton of heat for Flair.
Obviously it will be somewhat different, but I can see something like that working well in CWFH, HoH and a few other indies.
Edit: I Also wouldn’t be surprised if they work a program early next year with Storm battling to get the belt back, maybe culminating with him winning it back in the spring when they plan to start running their own shows.

The problem with the traveling heel champion is that it's what the NWA has been doing forever and nobody ever cares about any of those guys. Rob Conway took the title to New Japan just as they were getting hot and it didn't matter. They had a lot of people on board with Tim Storm because he was a likable personality and they'd built the whole idea of this NWA revival around him and how long is he going to be at the top. They let that story run for what, two months and now it's over? That momentum is gone now. A lot of the fans who were initially interested aren't interested anymore. All they have now are three guys (Aldis, Storm, Jocephus), a belt and three letters. Maybe they can get some of that lost interest back but it really seems like the bloom is off the rose.

I remember hearing on a Podcast with Jim Cornette that Vince McMahon has owned the rights to the NWA since the late 90's. Here is a post from another board that read about it on:
According to a Jim Cornette interview with Howard Brody.... WWE has held the rights to the NWA since 1998....
Now granted, it's NOT exclusive rights (so when Billy Corgan purchased the rights to the NWA, he got the MAIN rights and now owns NWA). HOWEVER... (and I don't think Billy Corgan was aware of this)... Back in 1998, WWE purchased the rights to use the likeness of the NWA world title and other titles, the NWA name (which can be named at any time) and it's logos AND it's history (VIDEO FOOTAGE of the NWA). This contract is STILL in effect. If Billy were to build up the NWA and make it into a huge thing, WWE has the right to make a duplicate NWA world title (and any of the other NWA titles, like the NWA North American championship), use it's logo, it's history (with VIDEO FOOTAGE), etc, etc. First time it got used on WWE television was back in 1998, using the NWA North American championship to start with (the NWA tag team titles and the NWA world title were featured later on):
NWA continued to be used on WWE throughout 1998. WWE most notably used the HISTORY of the NWA when they combined the NWA world title into the title history of WWE's version of the World Heavyweight Championship (the big gold belt) when they also combined that history with WCW world title history with WWE's big gold belt history during the History of the World Heavyweight title DVD that was released a few years ago (this uses VIDEO FOOTAGE of the NWA):
While Billy Corgan has access to the video footage and history.... so does WWE. Billy Corgan owns all the NWA belts.... but WWE can use their own versions of those NWA titles and can make DUPLICATES of those titles. Billy Corgan has the NWA name and logo..... so does WWE. However, Billy has complete control of the CURRENT NWA business and it's CURRENT wrestlers themselves.... WWE does NOT have any power in this catagory.

I don’t know what you guys are talking about. Nick is getting unanimous support. He even says so in this video. And look at those presents!
