Awesome lists my friend. If I had to rank my favorites it would be 1a, 1b and 1c - The Doors, Motley Crue and The Cult! I will have my list for The Cult coming soon as I am having a hard time narrowing it down to five but I love the five songs you listed, some of which are likely to appear on mine as well. On a side note I had a dream concert experience back in 2004 when I got to see The Doors (of the 21st Century) perform at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ with none other than Ian Astbury as the lead singer! The Doors were represented by Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger as John Densmore refused to do the tour (and he even successfully sued them for using The Doors name).

Astbury toured with them for a few years and I must say that he did a great job standing in as the lead singer. They even performed the L.A. Woman album in it's entirety. There is a Doors/Astbury concert available on DVD which you should check out if you haven't seen it before. I remember that concert like it was yesterday and seeing three of my favorites perform The Doors music together was amazing. Very cool to hear that The Cult influenced your own songwriting.

Mark Lanegan from Screaming Trees would also make an excellent Morrison...certain times on the "Uncle Anesthesia" album, it's downright eerie how much he sounds like Jim.

Glenn Danzig also has his Morrison moments. (Listen to Devil's Plaything from the Lucifuge album)

For what it's worth, I consider Morrison the greatest frontman of all-time for the simple fact that the girls wanted to "do" him and the guys wanted to "be" him and that same can't be said for a lot of lead singers.

Pariah, I have never heard The Tea Party so I am definitely putting them on my list along with Steve Earle and added tracks from Big Country. This is why this topic is so awesome as I'm getting exposed to bands or songs I hadn't listened to before. lucifer you nailed it with both Danzig and Lanegan as there are definitely some vocal similarities to Jim Morrison. I also agree with you on Morrison being the greatest frontman of all time. Whatever "IT" is he had "IT" in spades, from the vocals to the looks to the stage presence.

TDalton, TTX and topdollar really bringing the goods with their lists. Everything from Sinatra to Nirvana to 80's songs. Topdollar I thoroughly enjoyed going through your extensive list and it was very cool to see you bring up Joan Jett, Lita Ford and The Runaways all of whom I hope to do lists for. KISS is also one I am going to do one for and I liked how you broke it up between makeup and non-makeup eras. Good stuff.
