Just watched my screener of Downsizing. Was prepared to absolutely not care for it at all but it was pretty good. If Hong Chau doesn’t win some awards for her role, I’d be shocked. She’s the best performance out of these SAG screeners I’ve seen so far. Frances McDormand in Three Billboards is a close second. Downsizing is worth a look.

Tonight we watched The Shape of Water. Highly recommended. A super stylish sci fi/fantasy film. My favorite overall film of all the SAG screeners we’ve watched so far. Sally Hawkins is great and Doug Jones is fantastic as the Amphibian Man/Plethador. Visually riveting film. Amazing use of colors and symbolism.

Big weekend of watching more SAG screeners.
I, Tonya - This was the one the wife wanted to watch more than any other. It was fine. I have more respect for Margot Robbie as an actress after seeing this. I wasn’t ever a big fan of Tonya Harding or figure skating so this one sort of fell flat. Some good performances but I didn’t care for some of the filmmaking techniques. I won’t watch again but my wife has already screened it a second time.
Ladybird - Sweet little indie style film. Total slice of life/struggles of fitting in in high school type movie. Lead actress was good. So was Laurie Metcalf was good too. Not one I’ll have to see again.
The Disaster Artist- this one was pretty good. Definitely the one with the most humor so far. I remember driving around Hollywood in the early 2000’s and seeing billboards for The Room. I’ve never seen it, but this was an interesting look into how it was made. Defiantly have run into some characters like Tommy Wiseau in Hollywood. Now more than ever we are learning that anyone can be a success and this film is proof. Love the attention to detail Franco and crew put together for this film. I could see Franco winning some awards for this role. Which would be ironic.
Probably get get a few more screeners this week. Between this and my MoviePass. I’ve been seeing so many films lately.

Tonight I saw All the Money in the World. Good movie, amazing they did all those reshoots since just November to replace Kevin Spacey with Christopher Plummer as John Paul Getty.

Anybody watching the Golden Globes tonight? I'm not. I like movies but I don't typically watch movie award shows like the Golden Globes and the Oscars. Sort of like how I like enjoy watching sports but I don't typically watch things like the ESPYs (2014 being an exception.) however I will glance over the list of Golden Globe award winners afterward out of curiosity

Anybody watching the Golden Globes tonight? Nope...just cannot bring myself to do it. Growing up in LA, used to think it would be cool to go to an award show, but not anymore. Say thanks to the people who helped you and that is all. Too much other stuff takes away the fun...wish they would go back to being the self-centered "you love me, you really love me" stuff...

Although I did not watch the Golden Globes (I actually do not think I have ever watched the Golden Globes,) I saw the list of winners tonight and I am glad to see the song This is Me from the Greatest Showman won the award for best song as I think that is a good song.
I also saw that James Franco (who I saw in attendance at PWG last year at the June show) won best actor for The Disaster Artist, I did not see that movie but I did like Franco's work in Alien Covenant last year.

Saw Winston Churchill film "Darkest Hour" make you wonder where would this world be today . If Churchill hadn't stayed to fight , instead of surrendering to the Nazis . Good film
