This is Jim Ross, and I'm welcoming you to join Gordon Solie, Tony Schiavone, all the stars of the NWA and I this coming Saturday night, January 6, for the very first edition of NWA's World Championship Wrestling at 6:05 Eastern time only on the Superstation, TBS!

In this two hour kickoff, we'll see several stars of the NWA, as Lou Thesz, The Rock N Roll Express, King Kong Bundy, The Sheepherders, Rob Van Dam, The Iron Sheik, and many more will be in action, with the main event being an NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Qualifying Match between Bruiser Brody and Diamond Dallas Page! We'll also hear from other NWA stars, such as "Macho Man" Randy Savage and "The Billion Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase! You won't want to miss it; anything can happen!

The NWA presents World Championship Wrestling Saturday Night!

"Hello, everyone, this is Jim Ross with my partner, 'The Dean' Gordon Solie, welcome to the debut of WCW Saturday Night, right here on the Superstation, TBS! We've got a lot to talk about and a lot of action planned, so let's go to the ring!"

King Kong Bundy w/Bobby "The Brain" Heenan vs. Scotty 2 Hotty
Bundy made short work of Scotty, who never even got any offense in. After man handling Scotty for a few minutes, Bundy crushed him with an Avalanche in the corner and followed up with a bone crushing splash and a 1-2-3, but Bundy demanded a 5-count! The ref balked, so Bundy delivered a second devastating splash and the ref made the 5-count.

Tony Schiavone: "Fans, I'm here with the man that just won with the most devastating Avalanche and Splash combo I've ever seen, King Kong Bundy! King Kong, why did you demand a five count?" As Schiavone puts the microphone in front of Bundy, Heenan intercepts his arm and pulls it over to him: "Listen up, you moron! You don't talk to him; you talk to me, or you can get flattened like that ham-and-egger still laying on the mat! The reason this man demands a five count is to prove that nobody-NOBODY-gets up from being crushed by this man. All you humanoids take note: you're looking at the first NWA World Heavyweight Champion!"

The Sheepherders w/Captain Lou Albano vs. Frank Dalton and Lenny Lane
Another squash, Williams rolled over Dalton, pinning him after a Battering Ram.

Schiavone: "I'm about to talk to a man that will make his NWA wrestling debut next week in an NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Qualifying Match against the always dangerous Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine. Ladies and gentlemen, I'm talking about the one and only 'Macho Man' Randy Savage!" Savage's music, Pomp and Circumstance, hits and the crowd erupts. When Savage gets to Schiavone, he immediately takes over the mic: "Ohhhhhhhh yeah! The Macho Man has arrived! All the players are ready to go, but there can only be one champion! Greg Valentine, you're the first step towards putting that great big beautiful belt around this waist! After that, DiBiase, Thesz, Bundy, whoever gets in my way, will end up the same way: in the middle of the ring with my elbow being the last thing they see! Dig it!"

Rob Van Dam vs. The Iron Sheik w/Daivari
The ref lost control of this one quickly, as both men resorted to less than honorable tactics early. The Iron Sheik employed his loaded boot, while RVD went to the Van Daminator, and the ref tried to stay pretty liberal with the rules, allowing both men some leeway. In the end, the action spilled to the floor and both men were counted out.

Lou Thesz vs. The Masked Miser
Thesz made short work of the mysterious masked man, twisting him up like a pretzel before putting him away with the Thesz Press.

Solie: "Lou Thesz may very well be the odds-on favorite to become the first NWA World Heavyweight Champion. In my opinion, he's the man to beat, but right now, let's take a look at another of the men with championship hopes, 'The Billion Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase!"

A video package is shown of DiBiase in the ring, showing off his skills as a wrestler. After the montage is over, DiBiase is shown in the back seat of a limo, with a very large man sitting next to him. "Well, the NWA is starting up and I've been drafted to compete there. Don't think for a second I didn't want for this to happen. Don't think for a second that I'm not responsible for where I wound up. I go where I want and do what I want. And what I want right now, is that big gold NWA Championship belt. Not because it's gold. The belt that's holding up my pants right now costs more than whatever the NWA can afford. But I'm going to have that belt by hook or by crook, if only for one reason: to prove that everyone has a price for 'The Billion Dollar Man!' Hahahahahahaha! Michael! Drive us somewhere!"

The Rock N Roll Express vs. Bruiser Costa and Sinn Bodhi
The Rock N Roll Express don't get paid by the hour, and proved it tonight by beating their opponents with their speed advantage. Quick tags in and out and dividing the ring in half, the hallmarks of a great tag team, are obviously things Morton and Gibson are known for. They did it here and quickly put away Bodhi with a Double Drop Kick without even allowing Costa a tag in.

After the bell, as Costa attempts to help Bodhi up, sinister music begins to play, and a robed figure steps out from behind the curtain. He removes his hood to reveal..."The Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan!! Sullivan looks into the camera and says, "Prepare yourselves for the new Army of Darkness!" and beckons back to the curtain and out step Bruiser Brody, Jimmy Snuka, and "Bamm Bamm" Terry Gordy! He points to the ring and all three men charge in and totally destroy Costa. After Gordy delivers a vicious Powerbomb, Snuka follows up with a Superfly Splash. Brody then lifts Costa up by his hair and screams into his face, "There's only one Bruiser in the NWA!" and tosses him from the ring. Gordy then slings Bodhi over his shoulder, and he and Snuka leave the ring, as Brody prepares for his match:

NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Qualifying Match
Bruiser Brody w/"The Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan vs. Diamond Dallas Page
"Self High Five!" and DDP enters the ring through the cheering crowd! DDP was severely outmatched in the power department, but no one outmatches his heart. Page took the fight to Brody, but Brody was an unstoppable beast. Just when it looked like Brody had the match sewn up, a big boot drove DDP through the ropes and to the arena floor. On the outside, Brody went after him, driving him into the ringpost! Brody wasn't done, and he picked up a chair. The ref tried to stop him, but Brody shoved him into the ring steps, drawing the DQ!

Jim Ross: "Gordon, it may not have looked pretty, but DDP is in the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament!

Gordon Solie: "A win is a win, JR! DDP has several weeks to recover and prepare to possibly face Brody again if Brody qualifies. And Sullivan's new Army of Darkness certainly looks scary!"

Ross: "I wouldn't want to be on their bad side, Gordon, that's for sure. Well, that's it for tonight's show! Join us next week for more action! We'll have 'American Dragon' Bryan Danielson, Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake, The Heavenly Bodies, and many more in action, not to mention that big NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Qualifying Match between 'Macho Man' Randy Savage and Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine! The NWA presents WCW Saturday Night!

"Hello, everyone, and welcome to NWA's WCW Saturday Night! I'm Jim Ross, and this is my partner Gordon Solie, and we'd like to-" Ross is interrupted by the sounds of the song 'The Flight of the Valkyries,' and from behind the curtain steps "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson, met by a huge pop and then followed up with the "Yes! Yes! Yes!" chants! His opponent for his debut NWA match, Daivari, came out to a much different reaction.

"The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson vs. Daivari w/Nikolai Volkoff and The Iron Sheik
Danielson kicked off the show and came out looking to earn that pop. He dominated this match, but lost via Countout when he went for one of his suicide dives and the Iron Sheik pulled Daivari out of the way. As the Atlanta fans booed the finish, Sheik and Volkoff began putting the boots to Danielson, while Daivari directed traffic. This continued until Rob Van Dam, who had his own problems with the Iron Sheik last week, charged out with a chair and chased Daivari and his minions away. RVD helped Danielson up and then both men challenged the foreign heels to a tag match next week!

Tony Schiavone: "Folks, this is Tony Schiavone, and I'm here with the man that our very own Gordon Solie called the odds-on favorite to be our very first NWA Champion, Lou Thesz! Mr. Thesz, what do you think of your chances?"
Thesz: "Well, Tony, I don't like to look past anyone. I believe I have as good a chance as anyone here in the NWA, but I just have to take it one match at a time. First up for me is the big Russian, Nikolai Volkoff, right here next week. I have to beat him just to get into the tournament, so I need to concentrate on that right now."
Schiavone: "So what's your strategy for a man like Volkoff?"
Thesz: "Well, Tony, it wouldn't be very smart of me to announce that right here, would it? You'll just have to tune in next week like everybody else."
Schiavone: "There you have it, folks, next week, Lou Thesz vs. Nikolai Volkoff for a spot in the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament! And now, back to the ring!"

The Army of Darkness (Jimmy Snuka and "Bamm Bamm" Terry Gordy) w/"Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan vs. Frank Dalton & Scotty 2 Hotty
Sullivan's new Army of Darkness certainly made its presence felt last week, but this was the first week seeing the tag team of Snuka and Gordy in action. The Taskmaster lead these two imposing monsters to the ring by chains attached to collars on their necks. At the sound of the bell, Sullivan literally unleashed these two behemoths on Dalton and Scotty to devastating effect. Snuka and Gordy destroyed poor Scotty, who never even got the chance to tag out. In the end, Gordy tagged out to Snuka, who climbed the turnbuckle while he hoisted Scotty up into a Powerbomb position. Gordy then delivered a nasty Powerbomb as Snuka dove off the ropes and simultaneously hit his Superfly Leap driving Scotty into both the mat and unconsciousness. The ref could've counted to 300 but stopped at 3, giving the Army of Darkness the decisive victory. Sullivan then led his men off while Dalton tended to his partner.

Solie: "Jim, Kevin Sullivan told me earlier to watch for something he was calling 'The Eternal Darkness,' and I think we've just seen it!"
Ross: "Dean, I don't think anyone could get up from that!"

Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake vs. Bruiser Costa
As Costa came to the ring, a video package was shown from last week's show, showing Costa being beaten down by The Army of Darkness and being told there was only one Bruiser in the NWA and it was Brody. This was probably still fresh in Costa's mind when ring announcer Gary Michael Cappetta began to announce him. Costa snatched the mic away nervously and said, "I'm going by a new name now," and whispered it into Cappetta's ear. Cappetta looked confused and said "Are you sure?" while Costa threateningly told him to make the announcement. Cappetta then introduced him as "King Kong Costa" as Beefcake arrived. Regardless of the name, Beefcake made short work of Costa, putting him to sleep with the Sleeper Hold and getting out of town before things got bad. As Costa recovered, things got bad. Out came King Kong Bundy, led by Bobby "The Brain" Heenan! Bundy charged the ring and drilled Costa into the turnbuckle with a crushing Avalanche and followed up with a splash He then looked at the downed Costa, "Im the only King Kong in the NWA!"

Rob Van Dam vs. Nikolai Volkoff w/Daivari
Due to the drama earlier, Bryan Danielson accompanied RVD, while both the Iron Sheik and Daivari came down with the big Russian. After some early interference, the referee ejected all three men and sent them packing to the dressing rooms. Once it was down to a one-on-one match, RVD beat Nikolai with a 5 Star Frog Splash.

Ross: "I'm being told that we're being sent to an arrival backstage where we have a cameraman ready! There's no telling who it could be!"

In the garage area, a huge stretch limo pulls to a stop and out steps the large man we saw last week with "The Billion Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase! He holds the door for DiBiase, who steps out, "Thank you, Rodney." He leans back into the limo, "And thank you, Michael. Pay the man, Rodney." With that, the Billion Dollar Man begins to swagger to his backstage area while Rodney peels off several $100 bills to pay the driver.

NWA World Tag Team Championship Tournament Qualifying Match
The Heavenly Bodies (Stan Lane and Dr. Tom Prichard) w/Bobby "The Brain" Heenan vs. The Funk Rockers ("Flash Funk" 2 Cold Scorpio & Marty Jannetty)
Heenan guided his men to the ring and then guided them to victory. While the team of Scorpio and Jannetty is fun and definitely shows potential, the Bodies are just a well oiled machine when it comes to tag team wrestling. Lane pinned Scorpio after a double team Flapjack and the Bodies are the first team to qualify for the NWA World Tag Team Championship Tournament!

"The Billion Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase w/Rodney vs. Lenny Lane
When the bell rang, DiBiase and Rodney met Lane in the center of the ring and DiBiase offered Lane "a way out," offering him $500 to walk away and take the countout loss. Lane hesitated for a second but then nodded and put his hand out. DiBiase again said "Pay the man, Rodney," and Rodney peeled off five $100 bills and handed them to Lane. Lane then turned to leave, but as soon as his back was turned, DiBiase locked in the Billion Dollar Dream! The ref raised Lane's hand and it dropped all three times, giving DiBiase the win! After the bell, Rodney picked up the $500 and handed one of the bills to DiBiase, who stuffed it into Lane's mouth and said "Everyone's got a price for the Billion Dollar Man. Hahahahahahaha!"

NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Qualifying Match
"Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Greg "The Hammer" Valentine w/Capt Lou Albano
Both Savage and Valentine made their NWA debuts tonight, with both men fighting for a chance to compete in the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament. Both men laid it all on the line for this main event, but only one man could come out on top and tonight it was Savage. Savage won with his Flying Elbow Drop, joining Diamond Dallas Page in the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament!

Ross: "Well, that's our show, folks! Come back next week for more NWA action, as Diamond Dallas Page, Sullivan's Army of Darkness, King Kong Bundy, and many more will be in action!"

Solie: "Not to mention two big championship qualifying matches, as The Funk Rockers try again, this time against those nasty Sheepherders, and the legendary Lou Thesz will battle big Nikolai Volkoff for a spot in the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament!"

Ross: "And don't forget the big tag match challenge from Rob Van Dam and Bryan Danielson to Daivari and Iron Sheik! For Gordon Solie, Tony Schiavone, and everyone here at NWA's WCW Saturday Night, I'm Jim Ross, and we'll see ya next week!"

The NWA presents World Championship Wrestling Saturday Night!

Diamond Dallas Page vs. Jeff Costa
When Costa was being introduced, he ran to ring announcer Gary Michael Cappetta, and cupped his hands around the mic. He then told Cappetta his "new" ring name, "Jeff." DDP beat Jeff in under a minute, hitting the Diamond Cutter and getting the pin quickly.

After the bell, Tony Schiavone met DDP in the ring: "Dallas, another big win here, and you've already qualified for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament. What do you think you're chances are against the rest of this NWA?"
DDP: "Tony, we don't even know who the rest of the field is in this tournament yet. Me and "Macho Man" Randy Savage. The rest, who knows? Could be Lou Thesz. Could be Iron Sheik. Could be The Barber. RVD. Bundy. Candido. We'll have to wait and see. But I will tell you this. Whoever gets in my way will. Feel. The. Bang!" as he makes the sign for the Diamond Cutter to a big ovation.

Again we hear ominous music and out from behind the curtain steps..."The Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan! He's pulling chains behind him and connected to those chains are Bruiser Brody, Jimmy Snuka, Terry Gordy, and Sinn Bodhi, who we haven't seen since Gordy carried him from the ring two weeks ago! Sullivan unleashes Brody, Snuka, and Gordy, and they storm the ring and we're underway!

The Army of Darkness (Bruiser Brody, Jimmy Snuka, and "Bamm Bamm" Terry Gordy) w/"Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan and Sinn Bodhi vs. Frank Dalton, Scotty 2 Hotty, and The Masked Miser
The AOD completely destroyed their opponents, toying with them and allowing them to make tags instead of going for pinfalls, just to mete out more punishment. In the end, Snuka pinned Dalton after the Eternal Darkness, a move we saw debuted last week, a Gordy Powerbomb/Superfly Splash combo, while Brody continued to beat down Scotty and the masked man. After the bell, Sullivan looked into the camera and said, "It's only a matter of time before the Army of Darkness rules the entire NWA!"

King Kong Bundy w/Bobby "The Brain" Heenan vs. Lenny Lane
This match was all Bundy, as he decimated Lane early with an Avalanche, but continued the punishment. After several minutes of additional and unneeded offense, Bundy hit another Avalanche and then the big Splash. When Bundy went for the pin, he demanded the 5-count, but the ref stopped at three and called for the bell. Bundy was irate and grabbed the ref by his shirt, threatening him until Heenan interjected himself. Heenan calmed Bundy down and spoke to the ref, who turned and said something to ring announcer Gary Michael Cappetta, while Cappetta nodded. Cappetta then announced, "And the referee's official decision, your winner by Disqualification, Lenny Lane! The ref hightailed it out of there while Heenan and Bundy went ballistic!

NWA World Tag Team Championship Tournament Qualifying Match
The Funk Rockers ("Flash Funk" 2 Cold Scorpio and Marty Jannetty) vs. The Sheepherders w/Captain Lou Albano
This was Scorpio and Jannetty's second attempt at qualifying for the NWA Tag Team Championship Tournament, losing last week to the Heavenly Bodies. They didn't fare any better this week against the sadistic New Zealanders, the Sheepherders. Luke and Butch isolated Scorpio and punished him, with Williams putting him away with a Battering Ram. The Sheepherders now join the Heavenly Bodies as two of the four teams in the tournament.

NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Qualifying Match
Lou Thesz vs. Nikolai Volkoff w/Daivari
Thesz made a fool of the big Russian in the early minutes of this match, and Daivari called to the back for backup in the form of The Iron Sheik. After the Sheik arrived, this brought out Rob Van Dam and Bryan Danielson to make sure things stayed on the up and up. After severa minutes of action, Thesz won with the Thesz Press, joining Diamond Dallas Page and "Macho Man" Randy Savage in the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament. After the bell, the Iron Sheik and Daivari hopped in the ring, and so did RVD and Danielson, and our main event was underway!

"The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson and Rob Van Dam vs. The Iron Sheik and Daivari
This match was a free for all from the jump. After several offense changes, Danielson took both the Sheik and Daivari out with a suicide dive. He rolled Daivari back in the ring and RVD hit the 5 Star Frog Splash for the 1-2-3!

Ross: "Come back and join us in one week for more NWA action, folks!"

Solie: "Including the Rock N Roll Express taking on Volkoff and The Iron Sheik in an NWA Tag Team Championship Tournament Qualifying Match, as well as our main event, 'The American Dragon' Bryan Danielson taking on Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine for a spot in the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament!"

Ross: "That's our show, folks! For Gordon, Tony Schiavone, and myself, we'll see you next week!"

Nice to see the Masked Miser in action. Dalton and Scotty as a tag team....really interesting.
