3rd Annual KRU Real World Tag League - Osaka Jo-Hall - Osaka Japan (Card #1345)
1) Block A: Giant Bernard & Mr. Fuji defeated Mr. Saito & Kahagas
* A tense opening bout saw Mr. Saito & “Tokyo Monster” Kahagas face Bullet Club members Giant Bernard & Mr. Fuji. Saito and Fuji were part of a great tag team in KRU until Fuji betrayed him to join Bullet Club. This was a chance for revenge but unfortunately for Saito he didn’t get it. Though he and Kahagas controlled a good portion of the bout, the powerful Bernard took it home snake eyes style when he powered out of the Tarantula hold from Kahagas blasting him with a Short-Arm Clothesline for the pin.
2) Block B: Stan Hansen & Bruiser Brody defeated Valiant Brothers (Jimmy & Johnny Valiant)
* The Valiant Brothers, “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant & “Luscious” Johnny Valiant, took on Stan “The Lariat” Hansen & Bruiser Brody in what most expect to be a wild brawl. It was but surprisingly it was mostly contained in the ring. Perhaps more surprising was that the Valiant Brothers controlled the action most of the way. Brody took a beating from both men but managed to survive and win it for his team, countering a backdrop attempt by Jimmy and then hitting the Jumping Knee Drop to score the pin.
3) Block A: Killer Bees (B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell) defeated British Bulldogs (Davey Boy Smith & Dynamite Kid)
* A highly anticipated match saw the British Bulldogs, Davey Boy Smith & Dynamite Kid, take on the Killer Bees, B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell. These two popular tag teams engaged in a great see-saw battle with some tense moments. The Bulldogs looked to have it won with a Tower of London but somehow Brunzell kicked out just before the three count. A delayed vertical suplex by Smith led to another big near fall. Controversy ensued late as the Bees resorted to Masked Confusion, donning masks and making a timely switch. That led to them hitting the Bee Sting on Smith with Brunzell scoring the pin as Blair prevented a save attempt by the Dynamite Kid. Most would have expected hand shakes after a match between these two teams but instead it was a shoving match before cooler heads prevailed and they left the ring.
4) Block B: Violence is Forever (Dominic Garrini & Kevin Ku) vs. Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens was a DDQ
* Violence is Forever, Dominic Garrini & Kevin Ku, were in for a difficult challenge facing in the more experienced team of Nick Bockwinkel & Ray “The Crippler” Stevens. The former LOW World tag team champions struck with precision, especially getting the heat on Garrini who was desperate to tag out to Ku. VIF were unable to full get any momentum but they did manage to take it out to the floor where this one was decided. As the four men traded blows at ringside the referee called for the bell declaring the match a double disqualification.
5) Block A: Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal, with Paul Ellering) defeated Mad Dog & Butcher Vachon by DQ
* You would be hard pressed to find two tougher tag teams than the Road Warriors, Hawk & Animal, and Mad Dog & Butcher Vachon. After their huge win over Giant Baba & Jumbo Tsuruta the night before in Hiroshima, The Vachon’s were looking for two huge back-to-back wins. They jumped the Road Warriors before the bell and went on a dominant run which saw Hawk busted open after a chain shot by Mad Dog. The Road Warriors looked to be in trouble and even their manager “Precious” Paul Ellering had a concerned look at ringside. They finally battled back into it and it wasn’t long before Mad Dog was busted open as well courtesy of a run into the guard rail by Animal. Things broke down at the end and it was the Road Warriors winning it by disqualification snake eyes style after Mad Dog delivered a series of chair shots.
6) Block B: The Destroyer & Jushin Liger defeated Red Bastien & Billy Red Lyons
* The Flying Redheads, Red Bastien & Billy Red Lyons, took on The Destroyer & Jushin “Thunder” Liger in a battle of fan favorites. After hand shakes started it off, the four men went to work delivering a classic battle of speed and technical skill. The Redheads were on fire literally as they took the upper hand on The Destroyer leading to a near fall situation with rapid fire dropkicks by Lyons and an Atomic Drop by Bastien. Liger almost took it with a Brainbuster on Lyons but Bastien made the save. Things went back and forth like that until the finish which saw Liger dive on Lyons outside the ring as The Destroyer trapped Bastien in the Figure Four Leglock scoring a submission victory.
7) Block A: Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) defeated Giant Baba & Jumbo Tsuruta
* Two teams looking to bounce back from tough losses squared off as Giant Baba & Jumbo Tsuruta took on the Young Bucks, Matt & Nick Jackson, of The Elite. Baba overpowered both of the Bucks early blasting them with the Baba Chop. Things were looking good for him and Tsuruta until the Bucks went to their elite level of double-team attacks. They were able to deliver the Indy Taker and More Bang For Your Buck on Tsuruta leaving him in a bad way. Baba had enough and went on the attack but was knocked out of the ring via Superkick Party. That led to the Bucks hitting the Meltzer Driver on Tsuruta with Nick covering him for the pin. It was a third shocking loss for Baba and Tsuruta in the tournament with the two clearly needing to reverse their fortunes in the coming days.
8) Block B: Rikidozan & Antonio Inoki defeated Terex & Voodoo Kaos by DQ
* A tough main event battle saw Rikidozan & Antonio Inoki take on Bullet Club members Terex & Voodoo Kaos. It was advantage Rikidozan and Inoki going in just based on their vast success in LOW. Terex and Kaos, however, didn’t care about that and took the fight to them. They got the heat on Inoki for a good stretch which included Terex flattening him with a Samoan Drop and sitdown splash. Inoki finally escaped and Rikidozan got the tag. Rikidozan then hit the Thunderous Chops on Terex for a big near fall. That set the stage for a violent retaliation by the Bullet Club team and it was on the outside where this one was decided. The referee disqualified them due to Kaos bashing Rikidozan with several chair shots. Inoki made the save and he and Rikidozan cleared the ring but were clearly not satisfied with the disqualification decision.
