Brody & Hansen vs. the Roadies! Should be a spectacular finale to this installment of the KRU Real World Tag League.
Did not expect that heel turn by Inoki, but I'm excited to see what kind of impact he makes with his group of followers... Inoki-ism is on the rise!

Thanks for the comments Troy, Bookerbill, Vegas, and Pariah. I always enjoy putting together and rolling out the RWTL. Even though this one was decided before the final night, meaning the respective block winners, it was still filled with action right into that final night. This may have been my favorite RWTL yet. Now without further ado we go to the finals and a huge night of action from Kings Road United. I hope you enjoy it...
LOW Kings Road United - Golden Week in Seibu Dome - Seibu Dome - Seibu, Japan (Card #1349)
1) Jushin Liger, Robbie Eagles & Wani defeated Will Ospreay, Black Tiger & Wheeler Yuta
* Exciting trios action kicked things off as Jushin “Thunder” Liger, “Sniper of the Skies” Robbie Eagles & Wani took on “Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay, Black Tiger & Wheeler Yuta. The action was fast and furious in what turned into a fantastic match. The battles between Liger and Ospreay were a highlight, with Ospreay nearly pinning him with the Essex Destroyer during one exchange. A slew of near falls built to a thrilling finish which saw Liger and Eagles take out Ospreay and Black Tiger with dives to the floor. That led to Wani winning an exchange with Yuta and he connected with the Rydeen Bomb for the pin.
2) Mad Dog & Butcher Vachon defeated Red Bastien & Billy Red Lyons
* Two teams that fared very well in the Real World Tag League squared off as the Flying Redheads, Red Bastien & Billy Red Lyons, faced Mad Dog & Butcher Vachon. Both teams call Golden Age Wrestling home and were looking to leave Japan with a big win. This was another great bout featuring tag team action at it’s finest. Quick tags, double-team attempts and some near falls had the crowd on the edge of their seats. At one point the Vachon’s hit the Quadruple Foot Stomp on Lyons but Bastien reversed the pin over with Mad Dog barely kicking out. The Vachon’s returned the favor with a similar reversal after Bastien had Butcher pinned with the Atomic Drop. The finish saw Bastien going for a deathjump but Butcher stepped out of the way and followed p with a Big Splash for the pin.
3) Empress Ring tag team titles: Fabulous Moolah & Judy Martin© defeated Sara Del Ray & Sumie Sakai to retain the titles
* The Empress Ring tag team titles were at stake as Sara Del Ray & Sumie Sakai of KRU challenged Fabulous Moolah & Judy Martin for the belts. Things got off to a quick start as Del Ray jumped Moolah who was trying to intimidate the ring announcer. Moolah took it outside and ran Del Ray into the timekeeper’s table setting the pace for a quick and wild bout. Del Ray had a fierce standoff with Martin as well before Sakai tagged in and used her agility to counter the opposition. The finish saw Martin nail Del Ray with a knee off the ropes setting up Moolah executing a Body Press for the pin. Moolah and Martin were the winners in what was their version one defense of the championship.
4) Nick Bockwinkel, Ray Stevens & Valiant Brothers defeated British Bulldogs & Killer Bees
* Atomicos action saw the British Bulldogs, Davey Boy Smith & Dynamite Kid, and the Killer Bees, B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell, taking on Nick Bockwinkel & Ray “The Crippler” Stevens and the Valiant Brothers, “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant & “Luscious” Johnny Valiant. All four teams put in solid performances in the Real World Tag League with Bockwinkel and Stevens placing highest with second place in the B Block. The action was all over the place in this match which made for some crazy moments such as when the Bulldogs hit the Tower of London on Stevens. It looked to be over but Bockwinkel and the Valiant Brothers made the save setting off a four-way brawl. In the end it was the Valiant Brothers taking it home or their team when Johnny pinned Blair after delivering a Jumping Stomp.
5) Jack Brisco defeated Mr. Fuji by DQ
* Jack Brisco of Atlantic Coast Wrestling issued an open challenge for his debut in KRU and that was accepted by Mr. Fuji of the Bullet Club. With his brother Jerry Brisco challenging for the LOW Junior Heavyweight title later on the card, Jack was determined to build the momentum for the Brisco Brothers with a big win. Brisco was dominant early but Fuji showed some resilience surviving both the Figure Four Leglock and the Rolling Reverse Cradle. Fuji got in some offense but was frustrated often leading to him throwing salt in the eyes of Brisco. The referee had no choice but to call for the bell and Brisco won it by disqualification.
6) Kenny Omega & Young Bucks defeated Jay White, Adam Page & Giant Bernard by DQ
* Grudge trios action saw The Elite team of “The Cleaner” Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks, Matt & Nick Jackson, face their Bullet Club rivals “Switchblade” Jay White, “Hangman” Adam Page & Giant Bernard. Omega nearly pulled off a shocking win moments into the match hitting the One Winged Angel on White but Page made the save. That set the stage for a wild battle which saw both teams come close to victory. Page almost won it when he hit the Rite of Passage on Matt Jackson. Bernard had a similar moment when he hit the middle rope splash on Nick Jackson. The match took a turn when White got aggressive taking Nick Jackson to the outside and spearing him into the ring post. What followed was a Bullet Club assault on Jackson leading to The Elite winning the match via disqualification.
7) LOW Junior Heavyweight title: Tiger Mask© defeated Jerry Brisco to retain the title
* A highly anticipated championship match saw Atlantic Coast Wrestling star Jerry Brisco challenge Tiger Mask for the LOW Junior Heavyweight title. Jack Brisco came down to ringside to discuss pre-match strategy with Jerry before returning to the back. That advice was good as Brisco was dominant early including twice executing the Oklahoma side roll for two counts. A lateral guillotine resulted in another near fall before Tiger Mask found his footing and executed the Tiger Suplex for a big near fall.
Brisco now had to deal with the serious speed advantage of the champion but he did that by averting an out of the ring dive causing Tiger to swing himself back into the ring. Things really picked up from there with some great holds and counters traded. The finishing sequence saw Brisco going for a bodyslam but Tiger slipped out hitting a jumping spin kick and then the Tiger Suplex for the pin. Tiger Mask retained the title in his version four defense and afterward shook hands with Brisco drawing cheers from the crowd.
8) Rikidozan, Giant Baba, Jumbo Tsuruta & The Destroyer defeated Antonio Inoki, Mr. Saito, Kahagas & Matt Riddle
* Next up was a highly anticipated showdown as Rikidozan, Giant Baba, Jumbo Tsuruta and The Destroyer faced Antonio Inoki, Mr. Saito, Kahagas and Matt Riddle. There was a buzz throughout the Seibu Dome for this one as Inoki, frustrated over their performance in Real World Tag League, had slapped his mentor Rikidozan following their loss to Stan Hansen & Bruiser Brody at Sumo Hall in Tokyo.
Inoki’s break from his mentor was reasoned by him needing to make some changes and follow “Inoki-ism” bringing Saito, Kahagas and Riddle into the fold. He was confronted by the press when entering the parking area of the Seibu Dome and he simply stated that he had no hatred for Rikidozan but that he now needed to establish his own legacy in Kings Road United.
The crowd were mixed in their support of both teams as many viewed Inoki as still on the side of good and not a turncoat. Rikidozan stared down Inoki from across the ring bringing the tension up high. When the bell sounded it was indeed Rikidozan and Inoki starting the match and they actually shook hands drawing cheers from the crowd. The exchanges between Rikidozan and Inoki during the match were both tense and beautiful to watch as each man tried to get the better of the other. Ultimately it would be their tag team partners that decided this one as a Baba Chop delivered to Saito set up Tsuruta executing a Power Bomb on “Mr. Torture” to score the pin. It was a tough loss for the “Inoki-ism” faction but they were definitely not lacking for effort. Inoki and his men should prove to be a real force in Kings Road United in the future.
9) Bob Backlund defeated Kurt Angle
* The semi-final bout was between two stars newly signed to LOW, Bob Backlund and Kurt Angle. The announcement of this match made major headlines across LOW with even more anticipation regarding which promotion each man may have signed with. That was on the backburner here as the wrestling took center stage. This was a technical masterpiece from bell-to-bell with both men coming close to victory. Angle started out strong using both the Ankle Lock and the Olympic Slam to put Backlund on notice. Backlund would make a slick move on an Irish whip as he caught Angle with a Rolling Backbridge for a two count. It was like that most of the way with both men trying to find that one move to secure the victory. This led to some great exchanges building to the finish which saw Backlund take control and lock on the Crossface Chicken Wing. Angle tried his best to escape but when Backlund took it down to the mat it was over. Angle tapped out resulting in a submission victory for Backlund.
10) KRU Real World Tag League Finals: Stan Hansen & Bruiser Brody defeated Road Warriors (with Paul Ellering) by DQ to win the tournament
* The finals of the third annual Real World Tag League tournament saw A block winners the Road Warriors, Hawk & Animal, face B Block winners Stan “The Lariat” Hansen & Bruiser Brody. The heat between these two teams exploded the night before at Sumo Hall in Tokyo where Hansen crushed the Road Warriors manager “Precious” Paul Ellering with the Lariat. Ellering was at ringside with his men but was fitted with a neck brace as a result of that unwarranted attack. KRU officials along with LOW Commissioner Teddy Long were on hand to make sure the match got off to a proper start but it was not easy as both teams were itching to go into battle.
Chaos is the only way to describe what was an epic brawl between the two teams. The Road Warriors thirst for revenge allowed them to severely bust open Brody, who not surprisingly continued fighting back, but also sealed their fate in the end. They hit the Doomsday Device on both Hansen and Brody during the match but both were broken up by pin saves. After the one to Brody, Animal quickly caught him with the Power Slam but he kicked out. The fight in Hansen and Brody was unreal as they kept coming back against the powerful Road Warriors. With Brody bleeding badly and needing a break, Hansen went on a tear late hammering both Hawk and Animal with his brand of power offense. Brody got big in and delivered some punishment of his own nearly pinning Hawk after a big boot to the face. It seemed like half of the match was spent outside the ring as well and that is where this one ended up. It was the Road Warriors executing a double press slam on Hansen putting him through the timekeeper’s table that sealed their fate. The referee called for the bell ordering a snake eyes disqualification and just like that Hansen and Brody were declared the winners of the third annual Real World Tag League tournament.
Hawk and Animal, along with Ellering, were furious over the decision which means that Hansen and Brody have earned a shot at the LOW World tag team titles currently held by the Midnight Express. Long tried to ease the post-match tension but it took a host of KRU officials and wrestlers, including Rikidozan, to escort them to the back. Brody, his face a mask of blood, assisted Hansen back into the ring where they were presented with the trophy and the title match contract by Long who quickly left the ring to avoid any physical contact with the two. Hansen bellowed out “Yoooooouuuuuuth” as Brody grabbed his chain chanting “Huss, Huss!” and clearing the ring of the rest of the officials.
Injury Report:
* Stan Hansen suffered a lower back injury courtesy of the press slam through the table. He and Brody insisted on challenging for the LOW World tag team titles at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY (Card #1353) but were later informed by LOW Commissioner Teddy Long that after medical review that would not take place. Instead, if Hansen is cleared to return by then they will receive their LOW World tag team championship opportunity at Budokan Hall in Tokyo, Japan (Card #1364).

Shame about the disqualification but cool about Hansen and Brody winning. Love the Angle/Backlund matchup. It can be done multiple times without getting boring.

Brody & Hansen using a little bit of in-ring psychology to get one over on the Roadies... Not the finish anyone was expecting, but an exciting finish nonetheless... Which now raises the question -- When will these brutal teams square off again? And will the tag belts be up for grabs when they do?
This latest KRU tour was a brilliant success, my friend... Nice work indeed!

Thanks for the comments, Troy, Bookerbill and Pariah. Bookerbill, it felt like some of your 64-man tournaments with the DQ at the end, frustrating but I had to go with it. Hansen & Brody earned a painful victory there, but it gets them a shot at the LOW World tag team titles. I'm hoping to book a rematch between them down the line as that was a fun final to roll out. Backlund vs. Angle was equally as fun and a match I would also like to see again one day. That was one of those shows where I really felt happy about it after I was finished with it.
Coming up next is IWA Supercard of Honor 6, I hope you enjoy the action...
IWA Supercard of Honor 6 - Turner Field - Atlanta, GA (Card #1350)
Announcers: Ian Riccaboni & Larry Sweeney
1) Jake Something defeated Timothy Thatcher
* This rematch between Jake Something and Timothy Thatcher saw the intense Thatcher looking to avenge his prior loss to the IWA newcomer. Thatcher outwrestled him early and expertly countered into a Kimura Lock for a submission chance. He had Something on the ropes for a good stretch until he was nailed with a lariat to the back of the head. Something took advantage of that and delivered a controversial Low Blow to score the pin. Something escaped with a key win to open the show leaving Thatcher visibly angry in defeat.
2) SoCal Uncensored (with SoCal Val) defeated Lance Hoyt & Brodie Lee (with Percy Pringle III) by DQ
* The popular SCU, or SoCal Uncensored, pairing of “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels & Kazarian, faced Lance Hoyt & Brodie Lee of the Pringle Dynasty in a heated tag team match. As SCU manager SoCal Val looked on, Hoyt and Lee got the heat on Daniels for an extended stretch. Their manager, Percy Pringle III, looked on pleased as both men hit the Big Boot on Daniels putting him down for separate two counts.
It was looking really bad for SCU until Daniels reversed an outside ring attack by Lee and teamed up with Kazarian to deliver Fade to Black, in this case a sit-down powerbomb and neckbreaker combo, for what looked to be a sure pin. Pringle lost it, however, pulling the referee out of the ring before taking his frustration out on inanimate objects. He turned over the announce table, causing Riccaboni and Sweeney to bail out, along with the ring stairs. He also began tossing chairs prompting IWA officials to run out. Hoyt and Lee fended them off until SCU jumped out to even the odds with the four men brawling to the back.
Pringle was not done as he grabbed the timekeeper’s hammer and threatened IWA Commissioner David Marquez with it before security intervened dragging the manager to the back. Marquez was so upset with Pringle’s actions that he jumped into the ring grabbing the mic from ring announcer Bobby Cruise and announced that the manager had been suspended indefinitely. The crowd cheered that as Riccaboni, back at the announce table, speculated on what that meant for the main event as Jay Lethal would be without his manager, Percy Pringle III, as he challenged the “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson for the IWA Heavyweight title.
3) Tommaso Ciampa defeated Ricky Starks
* The intense Tommaso Ciampa, the “Sicilian Psychopath”, hit the ring to take on the arrogant Ricky Starks, one-third of a conceited trio along with MJF and Austin Theory. That trio has been drawing the ire of many in the IWA and Ciampa looked at this as an opportunity to take at least one of them down a peg. This was a great bout that saw Starks, despite all of the bluster, prove himself by hanging with Ciampa. It could have gone either way but in the end Ciampa countered a deathjump by Starks with a bodyslam and then hit Project Ciampa to score the pin.
4) Jake Atlas, Trey Miguel & Curt Stallion defeated Shane Strickland, Lio Rush & Chris Bey
* The stars of the IWA J-Crown division were featured in trios as action as Jake Atlas, Trey Miguel & “The Lone Star” Curt Stallion faced Shane Strickland, Lio Rush & Chris Bey. This match had a little bit of everything with dives to the outside, deathjumps and big near falls including Atlas hitting the LGB-DDT and Rush delivering the Rush Hour. There were also a few dramatic pin saves building to the finish where Stallion caught Rush with Ode to Luigi, a lunging head butt, to score the pin.
5) American Wolves defeated MJF & Austin Theory
* Grudge tag team action pitted the American Wolves, Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards, against their rivals MJF & Austin Theory. The arrogant pair of MJF and Theory scored a big win over the Wolves at the Electric Gypsy event in Beaumont, TX (Card #1339) and were looking to repeat that at Supercard of Honor 6. They almost pulled it off as Theory hit the rarely seen Ataxia on both Richards and Edwards for near falls. They did a great job of getting the heat on Edwards until he made a blistering comeback. Eventually it was Richards in with Theory and, as Edwards took out MJF, the “American Wolf” trapped Theory in the Cloverleaf scoring a submission victory.
6) Roderick Strong, Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly defeated Chuck Taylor, Trent Barreta & Orange Cassidy
* A big trios match between the Best Friends (Chuck Taylor, Trent Barreta & Orange Cassidy) and Undisputed Era (Roderick Strong, Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly) took on even more importance. Prior to the match, IWA Commissioner David Marquez made the announcement that the winning team would receive a shot at the LOW Trios titles on the next IWA card at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, NY (Card #1359). Both teams went all out looking for that all-important victory. Barreta really shined for his team and nearly won it with a Cradle Belly-to-Back Driver on Strong but Fish and O’Reilly made the save. The match picked up in intensity going into the stretch run as even the lethargic Cassidy got into it. Fish was able to secure the win when he caught Cassidy in a Leglock pulling back on it for the submission and locking up the title shot for Undisputed Era.
7) IWA J-Crown Title: ACH defeated Joey Janela to win the title
* ACH has been chasing down “The Bad Boy” Joey Janela ever since losing the IWA J-Crown title to him in Las Vegas, NV (Card #1319) and he finally caught him at Supercard of Honor 6. Janela did his best to retain the belt, twice using the Crossface for submission chances. ACH weathered the storm and, after avoiding the Moonsault Double Stomp, he made a roaring comeback. After executing ACH’s Big Bang Attack for a near fall, ACH hit a dive outside and back inside trapped Janela in the Superhero Grip, his version of the sleeper hold. Janela struggled to escape but ACH cinched it on resulting in a submission victory. The crowd cheered as ACH became a two-time IWA J-Crown champion joining Will Ospreay, Chuck Taylor and Kyle O’Reilly as the only two-time champions in the four year history of the belt.
8) Open Challenge Match: Adam Cole defeated Johnny Gargano
* After losing the IWA Heavyweight title to Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole petitioned for his rematch at Supercard of Honor 6 but instead that spot was given to Jay Lethal. An irate Cole then issued an open challenge for anyone to face him in Atlanta and that man turned out to be the popular “Johnny Wrestling”, Johnny Gargano. This was a great bout between two of the best in the IWA. Gargano was hoping to secure a win over the former champion and put himself in the IWA Heavyweight title picture. Cole was equally determined to cement himself in the top contender’s spot. Cole was really aggressive most of the way and it paid off as Gargano had to attempt to counter. After a series of superkicks, including a few to the back of the head, Cole put Gargano away with his third Florida Key, a cross-armed German Suplex, of the match for the pin. The leader of the Undisputed Era captured a huge win that he hopes will propel him back to the top of the IWA.
9) Falls Count Anywhere Match: Kings of Wrestling (with Princess Kimberlee) defeated Jonathan Gresham & Kevin Steen
* Mayhem would be the best way to describe this Falls Count Anywhere match between Jonathan Gresham & Kevin Steen, appropriately dubbed “Science & Violence”, and the Kings of Wrestling, Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli. Right up until match time there were questions on if Hero would even be cleared to compete, having been injured by Steen, and just in case Castagnoli had been given permission to use a substitute partner. Princess Kimberlee accompanied Castagnoli to the ring and acted as if she were going to take Hero’s place when suddenly Hero ran in nailing Steen from behind. It was on and it was not going to be pretty.
The entirety of Turner Field was in play for this battle and both sides made good use of it. A pivotal moment came when Steen put Castagnoli on a table and climbed up to the next level of seats going for a dive. Kimberlee got there at the last second and pulled Castagnoli off causing Steen to crash through the table and down onto the concrete. Meanwhile, Gresham, who was busted open, battled Hero in the outfield of the baseball stadium drawing a big crowd of fans around them. Hero managed to gain control and in a ruthless move he tossed Gresham head first into the outfield wall. The bloody Gresham was motionless as Hero covered him and scored the pin. The Kings of Wrestling, who are record four-time IWA tag team champions, picked up another notable win in their storied history as a tag team.
10) Loser Leaves the IWA: Drew Galloway defeated Kenny King
* It was all on the line in this one as Drew Galloway out of Ayr, Scotland, faced Kenny King out of Las Vegas, NV, with the stipulation that the loser of the match would have to leave the IWA. The intensity of this rivalry reached the boiling point here as one man would not be around any longer once the match ended. King struck early hitting the Royal Flush but Galloway kicked out at one. King continued his assault until Galloway countered and executed a Scot Drop for a two count. As the match progressed it became a great battle of give and take with the high stakes making every near fall a dramatic one. King countered a deathjump with a superplex and a springboard blockbuster for a big near fall late. Galloway came back and, after a slam on the ring apron, he caught King with the Double Arm DDT for the pin. All the months of frustration paid off for Galloway as his victory signaled the end of King in the IWA.
11) IWA Tag Team Titles: PCO & Brody King© defeated Mark & Jay Briscoe by DQ to retain the titles
* The IWA tag team titles were on the line as PCO & Brody King defended the belts against three-time former champions Dem Boys, Mark & Jay Briscoe. There was no lacking for intensity in this confrontation which saw both teams battling in and out of the ring. The Briscoes’ hit their respective finishers, the Cut-Throat Driver by Mark and the Jay Driller by Jay but were unable to put the champions away. PCO showed tremendous resilience as he kept battling back in the face of adversity. The powerful King got a hot tag late and went to work on Jay, scoring a two count with All Seeing Eye, a Cradle Shock. Jay battled back and took it outside where they were joined by PCO and Mark. Jay went crazy during a wild brawl on the floor and hit King with a television camera as the cameraman ran for safety. The referee called for the bell and PCO and King won it on a snake eyes style disqualification but all four men continued battling it out post-match. A host of IWA officials and wrestlers had to be called out to break up the brawl and in the end it was a successful version three defense of the titles for PCO and King.
12) IWA Heavyweight Title: Bryan Danielson© defeated Jay Lethal to retain the title
* The main event saw the “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson put the IWA Heavyweight title on the line against Jay Lethal of the Pringle Dynasty. Lethal, a former two-time champion, was without the services of his manager Percy Pringle III after he was suspended by IWA Commissioner David Marquez for his earlier actions. That put Lethal in a bad spot and he got aggressive during the ring introductions by Bobby Cruise resulting in him and Danielson trading forearm smashes. Referee Todd Sinclair called for the bell as the main event got off to a wild start.
Danielson dominated the early going as he frustrated Lethal often with moves like the Dragon suplex and the dive to the outside. Lethal finally turned things around and put the champion on the defensive for a good stretch. When Danielson began coming back, Lance Hoyt and Brodie Lee of the Pringle Dynasty ran down to provide a distraction but that was put to a stop by SCU members Christopher Daniels & Kazarian. As those four battled on the outside, Danielson blitzed Lethal with a Series of Roundhouse Kicks and scored the pin. Lethal was beside himself claiming a fast count but the decision stood and it was a successful version one title defense for the “American Dragon” to close out Supercard of Honor 6.

Definitely a rough night for Percy Pringle III and his Dynasty... And I'm kinda speculating that some of these individuals might be bound for different promotional shores in the near future.
In stark contrast... One group on particular were nothing short of spectacular... You know it's all about the BOOM! đź’Ł
