Non-Televised Opening Match
"Dastardly" Danny Doring & Amish Roadkill vs. "Playboy" Buddy Rose & "Pretty Boy" Larry Sharpe: Roadkill slapped Sharpe and said, "chickens". An irate Sharpe pushed Roadkill to the mat and hit a quick kneedrop for a pin, but Roadkill kicked out. Sharpe hit PILEDRIVER, but Roadkill kicked out again. Rose tagged in and threw Roadkill out of the ring. Rose rammed Roadkill's head into the steel rail near the fans. The referee warned Rose to stop, but Rose pushed the ref and got disqualified.
WINNER: Danny Doring--0 fatigue & Amish Roadkill--2 fatigues by disqualification over Buddy Rose--0 fatigue & Larry Sharpe--0 fatigue

Lanny Poffo: "Chris Candido is such a bore. When he talks, I hear the fans snore. Dr. Tom Prichard knows the score. Tammy Sytch is a big fat whore!"(Gary Michael Cappetta introduces Poffo who throws frisbees with his poem to the crowd)
Chris Candido: "Poffo, how dare you make fun of my girl! Tammy's the most beautiful woman in the world, and you will respect her--even if I have to beat it into you!"(Cappetta introduces Candido & fans call Tammy "Big Fat Whore")
An angry Candido dominated the match from bell-to-bell. He hit BLONDE BOMB, but he stopped the count so he could hit a second BLONDE BOMB for a quick win.
Thatcher: "Chris Candido advances to the Semi-Finals to face Brad Armstrong."
Cornette: "Candido defended the honor of the real Heavenly Body--Tammy Sytch."

Bob Armstrong: "Bundy, you're a big bad man. But the bigger they are...the harder they fall."(Cappetta introduces Armstrong to cheers)
King Kong Bundy: "I'll squash Bob Armstrong like a bug!"(Cappetta introduces Bundy to boos. Hart screams in the megaphone, "You can't stop a a Mack truck, baby, and you can't stop King Kong Bundy. Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha!")
Bundy manhandled Armstrong throughout this short match. Bundy squashed Armstrong with Avalanche for a 3-count, but Bundy demanded a 5-count. Armstrong put his foot on the ropes at 4&1/2. Bundy sent Armstrong into the turnbuckle for a second AVALANCHE and the 5-count win.
Thatcher: "Both of Jimmy Hart's men will meet each other in the Semi-Finals."
Cornette: "Bundy vs. Grappler. That should be a helluva match."

Bob Orton: "We've both had our run-ins with Humperdink. he stole from me when he was my manager. But what he did to Bobby was a lot worse."
Bob Roop: "That's right. he helped Kevin Sullivan brainwash me and make me join their Army Of Darkness. We'll get revenge by knocking Hump's team out of the tournament."(The Foreigner song "Dirty White Boy" plays as Cappetta introduces them to the cheering fans)
Oliver Humperdink: "Lies! Everything Orton & Roop said are lies! My Masked Superstars will destroy them and go on to bring the tag titles home to the House Of Humperdink."(Cappetta introduces them to a chorus of boos)
This was a tale of two matches. Orton & Roop had their way with Masked Superstar by making a series of quick tags. Superstar was bleeding through his mask when he was able to tag in MSII. The 300+ pounder beat Roop to a bloody pulp. Roop was able to tag in Orton, and the "Cowboy" would've got the win with SUPERPLEX--except Humperdink distracted the referee. A bloody Roop tagged himself in, but MSII continued his earlier assault of Roop. MSII finally finished off Roop with a double arm suplex and a BACKBREAKER submission.
Thatcher: "What a first round match! Both teams left it all in the ring!"
Cornette: "Superstars vs. Fantastics in the Semis. A classic power vs. agility match."
WINNER: #4 Masked Superstars(Masked Superstar--5 fatigues & Masked Superstar II--3 fatigues) beat #5 Dirty White Boys("Cowboy" Bob Orton--0 fatigue & Bob Roop--5 fatigues) when MSII submitted Roop with BACKBREAKER

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER-FINAL MATCH
#4 Blackjack Mulligan vs. #5 "Dr. Death" Steve Williams with Rat Pack partners "Black Glove" Ted DiBiase & "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan(pre-recorded promos air before their entrances)
Steve Williams: "Blackjack Mulligan, you're a mean hombre. You scare a lot of men, but you don't scare me. I'm "Dr. Death", and I'm bad to the bone!"(Cappetta introduces Williams to a mix of cheers and boos as he enters to "Bad To The Bone" by George Thorogood & The Destroyers. Doc has his game face on. he's ready for a fight!)
Blackjack Mulligan: "Doc, you're one of the toughest son-of-a-guns I've ever met. We're going to give these fans a knock-down drag-out fight. May the best man win."(Cappetta introduces Mulligan to a mix of cheers and boos as he enters to the Johnny Cash version of "(Ghost) Riders In The Sky")
This match was all Doc. He floored Blackjack with a devastating lariat. Then Doc went high-risk twice, and it paid off both times. First with a flying clothesline, and later with a flying splash. Throw in a couple of Doctor Bombs and OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE, and Mulligan was no match for the powerful "Dr. Death".

Cornette: "Doc manhandled Mulligan. Now he faces King Bobby Shane in the Semi-Finals."

"Big Rig" Brodie Lee vs. Timber "The Insane Lumberjack": The big trucker had his way with the brawny lumberjack. Every time Timber got some offense going, Lee was able to counter it. Lee busted Timber wide open by repeatedly kicking him in the head with BIG BOOT. Lee finished off Timber with a perfect top rope cross bodyblock.

Tommy Gilbert: "My son Doug may have a concussion, but nothing will stop him from being in my corner as I wipe the mat with Mike Graham tonight."(Gary Michael Cappetta introduces Gilbert & the fans boo)
Mike Graham: "Tommy Gilbert says he'll wipe the mat with me. The only wiping he'll do is wiping the blood off his head when I beat him tonight!"(Cappetta introduces Graham & the fans cheer)
This was all Mike Graham. He weakened Gilbert's legs with FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK before throwing Gilbert out of the ring. Then Graham hit a cross bodyblock from the top rope to the floor! It looked like Graham would win by count-out, but Gilbert got back in the ring. Graham went back to the FIGURE FOUR, but Doug got involved. The ref could've disqualified Tommy, but Graham quickly disposed of Doug and applied FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK again for the win.
Thatcher: "Doug couldn't help his father, and Tommy had to submit."
Cornette: "Mike Graham made a statement. He could win this tournament."

He dances his way to the ring as the crowd sings, "Go Jim Dandy! Go Jim Dandy!")
Baker took the fight to Valiant early on, but Baker made the mistake of jumping off the top rope when Valiant was on the floor. Valiant punched the falling Baker and took over on offense. Valiant repeatedly went for the pin, but couldn't put Baker away. Valiant finally applied SLEEPER to a bloody Baker, but Humperdink caused a distraction. An angry Valiant chased Humperdink out of the ring. Valiant caught Humperdink and threatened to punch the manager, but Baker recovered enough to hit Valiant from behind. They brawled outside the ring until Valiant tossed baker back into the ring and hit a wind-up elbow drop for the 3-count. Valiant grabbed Cappetta's microphone and invited children at ringside to get in the ring for a victory dance.
Thatcher: "These kids love to Boogie Woogie with the one and only Jim Dandy."
Cornette: "I'm the only Jim Dandy around here. Valiant'll hear from my lawyers!"

Sullivan has corpse paint on his face with an upside-down cross on his forehead. He carries a snake and holds it up to the camera. Link wears a dog collar with Zoltan holding the leash. The song stops & the lights come back on)
Cornette: "This is more bizarre than the Drive-Thru at the Hyden, Kentucky, Dairy Queen."
Thatcher: "Give it a rest, Jim. Now let's hear from their opponents--TNT."
Tommy Rich: "People ask us, 'Why are you in the tag tournament? You could both win the World or TV Title tournaments', and they're right...we can!"
Tony Atlas: "But we want a challenge. We want to prove that we're one of the top tag teams today. And we'll start with those psycho circus freaks because we're TNT, and we're Dyn-O-Mite!"(The AC/DC song "TNT" plays as Cappetta introduces them to cheering fans chanting "TNT! TNT!")
This match could have went either way. Miss Linda distracted the referee, and Sullivan used his infamous golden spike to turn Rich's face into the proverbial crimson mask. This only lit a "Wildfire" under Rich who went on a tear! Street tagged in, but with a series of quick tags, Rich & Atlas had the "Exotic One" beaten, battered, and bloodied in no time. Street was able to make a brief comeback, and it looked like he had Atlas pinned with CRUCIFIX. Rich pulled Street off of Atlas, and a brawl erupted. The ref let them fight, and Atlas went on to pin Street with PRESS SLAM AND SPLASH.

#3 Bruiser Brody vs. #6 "Ravishing" Rick Rude with "Mouth Of The South" Jimmy Hart (pre-recorded promos air before their entrances)

Rick Rude: "All the ladies know that I'm simply ravishing. Bruiser Brody, you're about to find out that I'm simply...better than you."("Smooth Operator" by Sade plays as Cappetta introduces Rude to cheering women & booing men)

Bruiser Brody: "Huss! Huss! Rick Rude, the only thing you're better than me at is running your mouth...and I'm gonna shut it! Huss! Huss!"("The Immigrant Song" by Led Zeppelin plays as Cappetta starts to introduce Brody. Rude sneaks up behind Brody and smashes him into the turnbuckle post outside the ring!)

Rude got the early advantage, but Brody fought back. The two men went back-and-forth until Brody hit a big piledriver. It looked like Rude would be down for the count, but Hart jumped in the ring to hit Brody with the megaphone while Brody was covering Rude. Brody rolled at the last second, and Hart hit Rude! Hart tried to run away, but Brody grabbed the back of Hart's jacket. Hart kept running until he realized that he wasn't going anywhere. Hart stopped & slowly turned around until he saw the wildman from New Mexico! Brody held Hart with one hand, made a fist with his other hand, and with the crowd cheering him on, he punched Hart right through the ropes! This gave Rude time to get to his feet, but he was staggering. Brody rolled him up, but Rude kicked out on instinct. Brody hit a quick JUMPING KNEEDROP to finish off the "Ravishing One".

WINNER: #3 Bruiser Brody--0 fatigue pinned #6 Rick Rude--3 fatigues with JUMPING KNEEDROP

Cornette: "Brody showed us why he's a favorite to win the World Title."

Soul Patrol("Birdman" Koko B. Ware & D'Lo Brown) vs. PG-13(J.C. Ice & Wolfie D.): Ice went for the pin after Hood Attack on Ware, but Ware kicked out. Wolfie tossed a hubcap to Ice who smashed Ware with it right in front of the referee who called for the bell. The crowd booed. Brown confronted Ice, and Ice smashed him with the hubcap too! Wolfie joined Ice as they put the boots to Ware & Brown. Referees & security came out, and PG-13 left the ring.

Sam Houston: "Prichard, you may be a Texas boy like me, but we're nothing alike. You'll cheat to win a match, but in my book, cheating's for losers. I'll do a Texas two-step all over you!"(Gary Michael Cappetta introduces Houston to cheers)
Tom Prichard: "Sam Houston's exactly right. I'm nothing like him. I'll do whatever it takes to win, and he won't. That's what makes me a winner and him a loser!"(Cappetta introduces Prichard to boos)
Prichard was in complete control. He wore down Houston with a reverse chinlock, kneedrop, and running back elbow. Prichard followed that with a flying forearm smash that resulted in Houston getting tangled in the ropes. Prichard punched Houston, but the referee pushed Prichard away and tried to untangle Houston. The hot-headed Prichard pushed the ref who disqualified Prichard!
Thatcher: "Sam Houston advances to the Semi-Finals to face Mike Graham."
Cornette: "Dr. Tom let his temper get the best of him, and he paid the price."

Jim Duggan: "OMG, you and I have a long history. I've beat you up, and you've beat me up. But with my trusty 2x4 in one hand and Old Glory in the other, I'm taking you down, tough guy. HOOOO!"(Cappetta introduces Duggan to cheers as "Born In The U.S.A." by Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band plays)
One Man Gang: "Duggan, I'm winning this match on Hump Day for my main man, Sir Oliver Humperdink."(Cappetta introduces Gang to boos)
This was a slugfest that was fought in and out of the ring. Duggan hit Gang with more than one FLYING SPEAR, but couldn't put Gang away. Gang's face was a bloody mess as they brawled outside the ring. They risked a double disqualification twice and got away with it both times. It looked like Duggan would finally win with another FLYING SPEAR, but Humperdink tried to interfere. Duggan clotheslined him and hit Gang with Old Glory kneedrop. 1..2..and the bloodied Gang powered out again! Duggan got set in another three-point stance. Gang stumbled to his feet and got clobbered with one more FLYING SPEAR. There was no kicking out of that one.
Thatcher: "Listen to these fans. They're on their feet for Duggan!"
Cornette: "OMG put up a Hell of a fight, but Duggan moves on to face Jimmy Valiant."

Tracy Smothers: "When I went looking for a partner to enter this tournament, I knew that he had to be from the South, he had to be a tag team specialist, and he had to be able to party all night like me. My search led to one man."
Marty Jannetty: "I was honored when you asked me to be your partner. I'm looking forward to winning with you and partying with you afterwards."("Train, Train" by Blackfoot plays as Cappetta introduces them to cheers)
Hartford Love: "Brother Reggie, what's the big deal about Southern Rock? That's not real music. It's just loud hillbilly redneck noise!"
Reginald Love: "That's right, Brother Hartford, and they use the most God-awful instrument--a fiddle. Well, we'll fiddle with the plans of the Southern Rockers and prove that we're the real tag team specialists!"(Cappetta introduces them to boos)
The Loves kept Smothers in their corner, but he was finally able to break free and tag Jannetty. The Loves made quick tags brutalizing Jannetty with a series of double team moves until they busted him open. Jannetty was finally able to tag Smothers, but Smothers had the misfortune of getting tangled in the ropes. Hart distracted the referee so the Loves could double team the tied up Smothers without risking a disqualification. Smothers got untangled and was eventually able to fight back! He hit JAWJACKER on Reggie, and Hart jumped on the apron. He was intercepted by the ref, but Hart Foundation member The Grappler entered the ring and kicked Smothers with LOADED BOOT. The ref turned around just in time to see it and called for the bell. The Love Brothers were disqualified, and they were furious!"
Thatcher: "The Loves dominated this match but got disqualified for outside interference."
Cornette: "The Southern Rockers advance to the Tag Team Semi-Finals to face TNT."
WINNER: #7 Southern Rockers(Tracy Smothers--1 fatigue & Marty Jannetty--4 fatigues) beat #2 Love Brothers(Hartford Love--0 fatigue & Reginald Love--3 fatigue) by disqualification due to Grappler's outside interference

DiBiase took control to start the match, but when he put his head down for a back body drop, Gordy grabbed him for a piledriver! A running lariat and PILEDRIVER was enough to give Gordy the quick victory.

I call them Southern Rock but nice to see them winning. Big win by Gordy and loved Houston getting the upset even if it was by dq.
