Preview Week, Thursday Midnight Special: Center Stage--Atlanta, Georgia

NON-TELEVISED OPENING MATCH
Savage-T with KJ Hill vs. "Belgian Brawler" Dupae Rupa: Rupa dominated the match. Savage-T had a brief comeback, but he made the mistake of going for a senton splash when Rupa left the ring. Rupa moved, and Savage-T crashed and burned. Rupa threw a very bloody Savage-T back in the ring and hit BELGIAN WAFFLE, but KJ Hill distracted the referee. Rupa hit a second BELGIAN WAFFLE, but Hill tried to interfere. Rupa clotheslined her and hit a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for the pinfall win.
WINNER: Dupae Rupa--0 fatigue pinned Savage-T--5 fatigues with tilt-a-whirl backbreaker

THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL ON WTBS
Les Thatcher: "Welcome to the Rebel Wrestling Semi-Finals on the Superstation."
Jim Cornette: "Who will advance to the live Finals on Saturday? We'll find out tonight."

JR. HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINAL MATCH
#1 Brad Armstrong with his father "Bullet" Bob Armstrong vs. #4 Chris Candido with Tammy Sytch & Heavenly Bodies partner Dr. Tom Prichard (pre-recorded promos air before their entrances)
Chris Candido: "I don't understand why everyone likes Brad Armstrong. Did you see what he did to Doug Gilbert after their first round match? And you people cheered! If Dr. Tom and I did that, you would've booed us out of the building and Commissioner Cox would've suspended us. If the hypocritical Armstrongs are 'fan favorites', then the Heavenly Bodies are proud to be 'rulebreakers'.(Gary Michael Cappetta introduces Candido to boos. Candido flips off the fans, and they throw trash at him)
Brad Armstrong: "I'd like to apologize for attacking Doug Gilbert after our match. I let my emotions get the best of me, and I promise all my fans that it won't happen again." (Cappetta introduces Armstrong to cheers)
Candido got off to a great start, but Armstrong was able to block BLONDE BOMB and go on offense. he hit two consecutive RUSSIAN LEGSWEEPS, but Tammy distracted the referee both times. Candido regained control and went for BLONDE BOMB again, but Armstrong blocked it again and countered with another RUSSIAN LEGSWEEP for the win.
Thatcher: "Brad Armstrong advances to the Jr. Heavyweight Finals."
Cornette: "He'll face the winner of tomorrow night's Mike Graham/Sam Houston match."

TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINAL MATCH
#4 King Kong Bundy vs. #8 The Grappler with "Mouth Of The South" Jimmy Hart in a neutral corner(1 pre-recorded promo airs before their entrances)
Jimmy Hart: "Everyone wants to know: Who do I think will win between Bundy and Grappler? I know who's gonna win. ME! Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha!"(Cappetta introduces both Bundy & Grappler who enter together as Hart Foundation stablemates)
Grappler got the big man off his feet and weakened him with a couple of figure four leglocks before kicking him in the head with LOADED BOOT to win this very short match. He was on a mission looking to redeem himself for getting the Love Brothers disqualified in their match with the Southern Rockers.
Thatcher: "Grappler pulls off a surprising upset to advance to the TV Title Finals."
Cornette: "He'll take on either Jimmy Valiant or Jim Duggan. I'm picking Grappler to win."

TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINAL MATCH
#1 Fantastics(Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) vs. #4 Masked Superstars(Masked Superstar & Masked Superstar II)with Sir Oliver Humperdink (pre-recorded promos air before their entrances)
Oliver Humperdink: "My Masked Superstars destroyed those lying Dirty White Boys. Did you see how MSII beat Bob Roop to a bloody pulp? That's nothing compared to what he'll do to the Fantastics."(Cappetta introduces them to boos)
Bobby Fulton: "We've got our work cut out for us, Tommy. Those are two big dudes."
Tommy Rogers: "That's right, Bobby, but we never back down from a fight."("Sharp Dressed Man" by ZZ Top plays as Cappetta introduces them to cheers)
This was a classic back-and-forth match with the Fantastics using their speed and double-teaming to counter the power of the Masked Superstars and the outside interference of Humperdink. It could have went either way, but in the end, it was Fulton with a FANTASTIC CRADLE on Masked Superstar to get the win. Rogers was the only man not bleeding.
Thatcher: "The Fantastics await either TNT or the Southern Rockers."
Cornette: "We could be looking at the first Rebel Wrestling World Tag Team Champions."

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINAL MATCH
#5 "Dr. Death" Steve Williams with Rat Pack partners "Black Glove" Ted DiBiase & "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan vs. #8 "King Of Wrestling" Bobby Shane with Sir Oliver Humperdink (pre-recorded promos air before their entrances)
Bobby Shane: "I proved that I'm as good as I say I am when I beat the overrated Magnum T.A. I'll prove it again by beating that oaf Steve Williams. Long Live The King." ("Princes Of The Universe" by Queen plays as Cappetta introduces Shane to boos)
Steve Williams: "Bobby Shane's a good wrestler. I'll give him that. But he's not tough like me." ("Bad To The Bone" by George Thorogood & The Destroyers plays as Cappetta starts to introduce Williams, but Shane attacks Williams as he enters the ring!)
Shane bulldogs Doc, then throws him out of the ring. Shane rams Doc's head into a table and throws him back into the ring for a rolling reverse cradle. Doc kicks out, but Shane throws him out of the ring again. Shane follows, but Doc throws him into the steel ring pole! Doc wraps Shane's arm around the pole in an attempt to break the arm. The ref warns Doc to get back in the ring, but Doc ignores him ans slams Shane's arm into the pole! The ref calls for the bell & Cappetta announces Shane as the winner by disqualification. Humperdink helps Shane to the back as Shane laughs and points a finger to his temple while pointing at Doc with his other hand. Doc turns over the steel ring steps because he knows he was outsmarted.
WINNER: #8 Bobby Shane--0 fatigue beat #5 Steve Williams--1 fatigue by disqualification
Cornette: "The King Bobby Shane may very well be the smartest man in Rebel Wrestling, but he'll have to get past either Bruiser Brody or Terry Gordy in the Finals to do it."
Thatcher: "We'll find out who Shane's opponent in the Finals will be tomorrow night as we conclude the Semi_Finals on our final Midnight Special. Be there!"

NON-TELEVISED OPENING MATCH
Soul Patrol("Birdman" Koko B. Ware & D'Lo Brown), Danny Doring & Amish Roadkill vs, PG-13(J.C. Ice & Wolfie D.), "Playboy " Buddy Rose & "Pretty Boy" Larry Sharpe: Commissioner Charlie Cox made this match because both Soul Patrol and Doring & Roadkill won their respective matches with PG-a3 and Rose & Sharpe by disqualification on previous pre-shows. The winning team of this match will meet in the non-televised opening match of the first Saturday Night Special. This was an evenly matched 8-man tag with lots of quick tags on both sides until Doring pinned Sharpe with Danaconda. Doring & Roadkill vs. Soul Patrol tomorrow!

#3 Mike Graham vs. #7 Sam Houston(pre-recorded promos air before their entrances)
Sam Houston: "Mike, you're without a doubt, one of the best Jr. Heavyweights in the world. But I'm gonna give it my all to beat you,"(Gary Michael Cappetta introduces the Texas Two-Stepping Houston to the cheering fans)
Mike Graham: "Sam, I know you'll give me a clean scientific wrestling match. The real winner will be the fans."(Cappetta introduces Graham to cheers)
The match went back-and-forth until Houston was able to apply Graham's signature figure four leglock, but Graham reached the ropes. Houston hit BULLDOG for a 2-count. He followed that with a top rope clothesline and cross bodyblock for the win. Graham shook Houston's hand and raised it in a show of good sportsmanship.
Thatcher: "#7 seed Houston vs. #1 seed Brad Armstrong for the Jr. Title tomorrow night."
Cornette: "That'll be another great scientific match-up."

Jim Duggan: "Jimmy, we're both New Yorkers who love the South. I've got a lot of respect for you, Jimmy, but only one of us is advancing to the TV Title Finals. may the best man win, tough guy. HOOOO!"(Cappetta introduces Duggan to cheers as "Born In The U.S.A." by Bruce Springsteen & The E Street band plays)
Jimmy Valiant: "Woo-ee, daddy! Looks like we got ourselves another Jim Dandy in Big Jim Duggan. All you hip Dixie cats & chicks, get ready to clap your hands & stomp your feet 'cause we're gonna blow the roof off this place!"(Cappetta introduces Valiant to cheers as "Jim Dandy To the Rescue" by Black Oak Arkansas plays)
Both men shook hands before the match & saluted the flag. Duggan was in control with Old Glory kneedrops & Tough Guy Clotheslines leading to unsuccessful pin attempts. They took the fight to the floor where Duggan attempted to ram Valiant's head into the announce table, but Valiant blocked it and rammed Duggan's head into the table right in front of Cornette causing Cornette to fall out of his chair! Valiant took the fight back in the ring where they traded blows, but Duggan was able to stagger Valiant with some wild haymakers before hitting FLYING SPEAR for the win. Duggan helped Valiant to his feet and hugged him.
Thatcher: "What a show of respect between Duggan & Valiant."
Cornette: "This makes me sick. Duggan meets Grappler in the TV Title Finals."

Tracy Smothers: "We've got our work cut out for us against TNT, Marty."
Marty Jannetty: "They're both world class athletes, Tracy, but we never give up!"("Train, Train" by Blackfoot plays as Cappetta introduces them to cheers)
Tommy Rich: "Tracy, we may be paisans, but we'll be friends again after the match."
Tony Atlas: "I like you guys, but you're standing between us and our destiny. We'll go through you and go on to win the World Tag Team Championship." ("TNT" by AC/DC plays as Cappetta introduces them to cheers)
The Southern Rockers got the early advantage with quick tags, but TNT took control and dominated the rest of the match. They kept a bleeding Jannetty from tagging Smothers, but struggled to put Jannetty away. Despite heavy blood loss, Jannetty kept kicking out of pin attempts--until Rich caught him with THESZ PRESS for the win.
Thatcher: "There's no quit in the Southern Rockers. They never say die."
Cornette: "But it's TNT who moves on to the Tag Team Finals against the Fantastics."

Bruiser Brody:(singing) "Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me. Let the Midnight Special shine a ever lovin' light on me.(stops singing)This is the Main Event of the last Midnight Special, and the spotlight's gonna shine on me. Huss! Huss!"(Cappetta introduces Brody to cheers as "The Immigrant Song" by Led Zeppelin plays)

Terry Gordy: "I'm really looking forward to this. Bamm Bamm vs. Bruiser. Two agile big men that know how to wrestle, but love to brawl. Only one of us will fight for the World Title, and it ain't gonna be you. I'll see you in the ring."(Cappetta introduces Gordy to a mix of cheers and boos as "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd plays)

Brody went after Gordy from the get-go. Brody floored Gordy with a twisting vertical suplex. He followed with a big boot to the face & JUMPING KNEEDROP, but Gordy kicked out. Brody made one mistake, and Gordy capitalized on it. Brody threw Gordy into the turnbuckle and charged him, but Gordy moved and Brody crashed into the turnbuckle! Gordy rolled up Brody for a one-count, applied ORIENTAL SPIKE that Brody was able to break out of, then hit POWERBOMB for the win.

WINNER: #2 Terry Gordy--2 fatigues pinned #3 Bruiser Brody--2 fatigues with POWERBOMB

Cornette: "Gordy moves on to the World Title Finals to face King Bobby Shane."

Thatcher: "We'll crown our first Rebel Wrestling champions at 8 PM Eastern/7 PM Central on the debut of the live 2-hour Saturday Night Special on Superstation WTBS."

Saturday Night Special 1: Omni Coliseum--Atlanta, Georgia

NON-TELEVISED OPENING MATCH
Soul Patrol("Birdman" Koko B. Ware & D'Lo Brown) vs. "Dastardly" Danny Doring & Amish Roadkill: Both teams were evenly matched. It looked like Brown had Doring pinned with LO DOWN, but Roadkill broke it up. Brown later hit a top rope shoulder tackle on Doring that sent both of them into the referee who promptly disqualified both teams. The crowd booed as the teams confronted the ref, but they were jumped from behind by PG-13! J.C. Ice hit both Ware & Brown with a trash can while Wolfie D. hit Doring & Roadkill with a trash can. The fans booed even louder.
NO WINNER: Soul Patrol(Koko B. Ware--2 fatigues & D'Lo Brown--0 fatigue) and Danny Doring--2 fatigues & Amish Roadkill--0 fatigue were both disqualified when Brown's Deathjump on Doring sent both men into the referee

SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL(HOUR 1)
Les Thatcher: "The entire week has been counting down to this moment. Welcome to Rebel Wrestling's Saturday Night Special live on Superstation WTBS. Tonight's the night that proves Saturday night's alright for fighting!"
Jim Cornette: "You're parents gave you the perfect name, Les, because you're 'less' of an announcer than I am. Ha! I'd like to take a moment to address a ceratin Damn Yankee promoter in New York: (Bleep) you, you (bleeping) piece of (bleep)!"
Thatcher: "Jim, you can't say those words on live TV!"
Cornette: "(Bleep) you too, Thatcher, you (bleeping) (bleep)!"
Thatcher: "Why do I feel like I'm working the Drive-Thru at the Hyden, Kentucky, Dairy Queen? Let's go to Gary Michael Cappetta in the ring for our first match."

MATCH 1: JR. HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS
#1 Brad Armstrong with his father "Bullet" Bob Armstrong vs. #7 Sam Houston
Cappetta introduces both men to cheers. Thatcher reminds viewers that Armstrong beat Doug Gilbert & Chris Candido to reach the Finals while Houston upset both Tom Prichard & Mike Graham. Cornette asks if Houston has a lucky rabbit's foot in his trunks. Both men shake hands to start the match.It was a back-and-forth match between two popular scientific wrestlers. It looked like Houston's Cinderella story would continue when he hit BULLDOG, but Armstrong kicked out. Armstrong rebounded and eventually hit RUSSIAN LEGSWEEP for the win to become the first Rebel Wrestling Jr. Heavyweight Champion. Bob Armstrong entered the ring to celebrate with his son. Houston shook hands with both men before leaving the ring. From out of nowhere, Tommy & Doug Gilbert attacked the Armstrongs from behind! Tommy held Bob and made him watch as Doug hit Brad in the head with the belt. Doug spit on the belt and dropped it on Brad's fallen body. Houston returned to the ring with a steel chair, and the Gilberts ran out of the ring.
Thatcher: "This war between the Armstrongs & Gilberts is far from over."
Cornette: "The Gilberts are out to prove that they're the real First Family Of Southern Wrestling."
WINNER: #1 Brad Armstrong--1 fatigue pinned #7 Sam Houston--0 fatigue with RUSSIAN LEGSWEEP to win the Rebel Wrestling Jr. Heavyweight Championship Tournament

MATCH 2: Angelo Poffo & "Leaping" Lanny Poffo vs. Heavenly Bodies(Chris Candido & Tom Prichard) with Tammy Sytch: Candido grabs Cappetta's microphone and demands that Lanny Poffo apologize for insulting Tammy earlier in the week on The Midnight Special. The Poffos come out to the ring. Lanny takes the mic and says, "You're absolutely right, Chris. That was totally uncalled for, and I sincerely and humbly apologize. I mean...just look at Tammy, ladies & gentlemen,. It's obvious that she's not a big fat whore, and I'm asking you not to call her that anymore. However, after seeing fans throw trash at you the other night, maybe I should've called her a White Trash Whore!" The fans chant "White Trash Whore" as Tammy covers her ears. Candido tried to get to Lanny, but Prichard held him back. Both teams went to their corners as the bell rang. The Bodies double teamed Lanny throughout the match. They prevented him from tagging his father. It looked like Lanny would take control when he threw Candido into the ropes, but Candido shocked Lanny with a flying crossbody and cover. Lanny kicked out, and Candido hit BLONDE BOMB, but Angelo made the save. Candido made the tag to Prichard who used FOREIGN OBJECT(powder in the eyes), but the ref didn't see it because he was getting Angelo back in his corner! Prichard covered lanny who was able to reach the ropes. Candido tagged in and hit a diving headbutt that busted open Lanny's forehead. Candido went for the pin, but Angelo made the save again. Candido hit BLONDE BOMB for the win. Prichard knocked Angelo off the apron and climbed to the top rope while Candido climbed to the top of the opposite turnbuckle. Prichard hit a loaded kneedrop to the chest while Candido hit another diving headbutt to the bleeding Lanny. The Southern Rockers broke it up and chased the Heavenly Bodies out of the ring, but the damage to Lanny Poffo was already done.
Thatcher: "Thank God the Southern Rockers came to Lanny's aid, or this could've been a lot worse!"
Cornette: "The Heavenly Bodies just sent a message to the entire locker room about what'll happen to you if you insult the gorgeous Tammy Sytch."
WINNER: Heavenly Bodies(Chris Candido--0 fatigue & Tom Prichard--0 fatigue) beat Angelo Poffo--0 fatigue & Lanny Poffo--4 fatigues when Candido pinned Lanny with BLONDE BOMB. Lanny is injured for 6 fight cards. No suspensions for Candido & Prichard

MATCH 3: TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS
#7 "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan with Rat Pack partners "Black Glove" Ted DiBiase & "Dr. Death" Steve Williams vs. #8 The Grappler with "Mouth Of The South" Jimmy Hart
Thatcher reminds viewers that Duggan beat One Man Gang & Jimmy Valiant to reach the finals while Grappler upset both Bill Dundee & King Kong Bundy. Cornette predicts that Grappler's winning streak will continue. Cappetta introduces both men while the crowd chants "USA! USA!". Duggan took charge and hit Grappler with wild haymakers, a spinning bodyslam, and a Tough Guy clothesline, but he couldn't get Grappler down. Grappler wore down Duggan with elbow smashes, knee lifts, and shoulder breakers. Duggan kept kicking out of pin attempts even after a LOADED BOOT that drew blood! Grappler threw Duggan out of the ring, and rammed his head into the steel rail near the fans. hart distracted the referee so Grappler could continue his assault. He saw DiBiase & Williams coming to break it up so he quickly threw Duggan back into the ring, and he hit a big legdrop for the 3-count. Hart comes over to the announce table and says, "Grappler's the best wrestler on TV, baby!"
Thatcher: "Grappler has done it! he's he first Rebel Wrestling Television Champion."
Cornette: "I told you Grappler would win. He really is the best pure Grappler in Rebel Wrestling."
WINNER: #8 The Grappler--0 fatigue pinned #7 "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan--4 fatigues with legdrop to win the Rebel Wrestling Television Championship Tournament for the Hart Foundation

MATCH 4: Southern Rockers("Southern Boy" Tracy Smothers & "Midnight Rocker" Marty Jannetty) vs. Love Brothers(Hartford & Reginald Love) with "Mouth of The South" Jimmy Hart: Cappetta announces that Commissioner Charlie Cox has made this NO DISQUALIFICATION! The Love Brothers are already in the ring when Blackfoot's "Train, Train" plays to signal the arrival of the Southern Rockers. The crowd cheers as they run down the aisle. The Loves dominated the early-going with quick tags and double-teaming. They had Jannetty bleeding, but he was able to tag Smothers who came in like a house afire! The Southern Rockers made quick tags to get several pinfall opportunities, but the Loves broke up one attempt with double-teaming that normally would've got them disqualified. The Loves beat up Jannetty again, and it looked like he was beat, but Smothers broke up the pin. Then they hit a series of double-team moves that could've got them disqualified in a regular match. Thatcher says, "What's good for the goose is good for the gander!" Smothers later had Hartford beat with JAWJACKER, but Reginald entered the ring. Smothers spotted him and smashed the Love's heads together with a Noggin Knocker that busted Hartford open! Smothers pinned Hartford.

Thatcher: "What a match! This bout could've went either way. It's an instant classic!"

Cornette: "Take it from a guy who knows tag team wrestling. This was tag team wrestling at its best."

Apter: "Judging by these cheers, I think the fans would love to see that. Who do you think will win the Gordy/Shane match tonight?"
Brody:Shane's a good 'rassler, a tricky 'rassler. Plus he's got that fat blimp Humperdingle, or whatever his name is, to interfere. But Gordy's a good 'rassler too. he has to be because he beat me! So I'm goin' with Gordy. Then me and him have some unfinished business to settle in 4 weeks. Huss! Huss!" ("The Immigrant Song" by Led Zeppelin plays as he leaves the ring to cheers)

MATCH #6: TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS
#1 Fantastics(Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) vs. #3 TNT("Wildfire" Tommy Rich & "Mr. USA" Tony Atlas)
Cappetta introduces both teams to cheers. Thatcher reminds viewers that the Fantastics beat Hot 'n' Nasty & Masked Superstars to reach the Finals while TNT beat The Freakshow & Southern Rockers. Cornette wonders who will win this match-up between a great team and a team of great singles wrestlers. This was an evenly matched bout. The action went back-and-forth until the Fantastics hit ROCKET LAUNCHER on Atlas. Rogers pinned Atlas while Fulton stopped Rich from breaking it up. "Sharp Dressed Man" by ZZ Top plays to cheers!
Thatcher: "TNT is congratulating the Fantastics on winning the World Tag Team Titles."
Cornette: "The Fantastics have a big bullseye on their backs 'cause there's a lot of teams here in Rebel Wrestling that'll be gunning for them!"

MATCH #7: WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS
#2 Terry "Bamm Bamm" Gordy vs. #8 "King Of Wrestling" Bobby Shane with Sir Oliver Humperdink
Thatcher reminds viewers that Gordy beat Ted DiBiase & Bruiser Brody to reach the Finals while Shane upset both Magnum T.A. & Steve Williams. Cappetta introduces Shane who enters the ring and grabs the microphone. He taunts Cappetta by calling him a peasant. Shane threatens to give Cappetta a "royal thrashing" if he doesn't bow down to The King. Gordy storms the ring and attacks Shane from behind with a back suplex! Gordy had the early advantage, but Shane was able to come back with two rolling reverse cradle pin attempts. They went in and out of the ring several times. Shane was bleeding profusely when the referee disqualified both wrestlers for brawling outside the ring. Commissioner Charlie Cox came out and re-started the match as no disqualification! They went back in the ring, but Gordy couldn't put Shane away due to the distraction & interference of Humperdink. Gordy finally dropped Shane on his bloody head with a big PILEDRIVER for the 1-2-3. Cappetta announces Terry Gordy as the first Rebel Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion as Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird" plays to cheers. Gordy's long-time friend & rival "Dr. Death" Steve Williams enters the ring to congratulate Gordy. They hug one another, but Eddie Gilbert sneaks up behind Doc. Gordy spins Doc around and into a FIREBALL from Gilbert! Gordy & Gilbert are hammering away at Doc when Ted DiBiase & "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan hit the ring. Gordy & Gilbert beat down DiBiase & Duggan, but TNT enters the ring with steel chairs! Gordy & Gilbert jump out of the ring & run to the middle of the aisle. TNT stands over the fallen Rat Pack with chairs in hand. then Rich hits Atlas in the back of the head with a steel chair! Rich leaves the ring to join Gordy & Gilbert in the aisle. Gilbert & Rich raise Gordy's hands in victory. The shocked crowd doesn't know what to make of this. Gilbert & Rich grab a Rebel Flag from a fan and hold it behind Gordy who raises the World Title.
WINNER: #2 Terry Gordy--3 fatigues pinned #8 Bobby Shane--7 fatigues with PILEDRIVER to win the Rebel Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship Tournament
Thatcher: "We said the South would rise again, but what does THIS mean? So long form Hot'lanta"

With their win on SNS, Southern Rockers will be #1 contenders to Fantastics. It'll be interesting to see how long Grappler's TV Title reign will last. I hesitated about even putting him in the tournament. He was a last minute addition, but I didn't expect him to make it out of the first round. Big plans for Gordy & friends.
