I like teasers because they build up my interest in the characters. I tend to create my own story lines and will borrow ideas from the booklets and other sources. For the CWF we have a list of wrestlers, a couple of vague ideas of what the teams and feuds are, and a lot of speculation on what is happening. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Mike M. did a good job creating teasers that created more questions then they answered.

Interesting points on the teasers. For me, I do like them but perhaps there have been too many. I lose track but haven’t we had about 10 reveals leaving 4 unknowns. Perhaps we could of have had half the set revealed via teasers. However I like both teasers and the surprises so I agree it’s a tough balancing act. Nonetheless the buzz for this set is pretty obvious so looks like the frequency of reveals has done it’s job to generate the interest!

I'm in the teasers camp as well. I trust that the writers will still surprise me even if I see everyone. It's a strange thing for this game versus nearly every other game I play (where people not only want to see basically everything but how they match up against old stuff) but some people hate it here. As well, if you are going to sell it, you should show people what you are getting. The "oh I want to be surprised" lasts about 5 minutes till after you open the package, but if they don't post previews online, what are new people going to do? You say order, but some people like to know what they're getting. As TM said, it's a tough balancing act but the company can't rely on all their fans from the past 30 years to keep going forever.

Here's an interesting point. Since the Doomsayer teaser the information paragraphs have included a list of the cards that have been previewed for the set up until that point with one exception. Total Anarchy is never mentioned even thought he was the teaser just before Doomsayer. Oversight or what???

For me, I like knowing what I'm buying. There are entire sets I'd have not purchased if we had been shown what they contained. I'm a COTG/LWF/GWF fan but that doesn't mean I buy products blindly. I buy things that interest me and intrigue me. I'd rather have teasers that I can ignore if I choose than none or very few. That's my opinion anyway.

Ok. I am going to express my opinion. I'll probably get booed off the message board, but I think after over 30 years of buying COTG, I'm entitled. I am looking forward to getting the CWF set. I ordered it the day it went on sale. But I would be just as excited, if not more so, if there had been about half the teasers. Think back. Tom did no teasers for the first part of Future Shock because to have done so would have given the story away. People were just as excited to get it because they didn't know anything about what was in it. For years, before the web site, all we knew about a new set coming out was what Tom hinted at in the Promoter or in the order form, and, maybe, one or two pictures. Personally, I like to see the artwork and the information on the wrestlers when I have the cards in my hands. Look back over this thread. People have already made decisions about the people in the set based solely on the artwork and what little has been said about them, and it may not be right or what Mike intends, but it is the opinion they will carry into their use of the set. If they have decided that a character is a heel, they will use him as a heel even if Mike presents him as a face, because they made their decision before they knew anything other than what he looks like. As I said, this is just my opinion, but I would really like to see less teasers. Maybe I'm just old fashioned. Ironically, Tom and I were talking about teasers and how many are appropriate to do for a set yesterday. The issues you raise for less teasers are valid. There's also a genuine concern as a writer for what is being "given away" and what surprises remain. Ultimately, I decided to release more teasers because I felt it was important to get more people interested in the new line of stories. That's why you'll note that I talk about "teasers" not "spoilers" that we release. I want to make sure that we are generating interest without spoiling key parts of the story. I've tried to craft teasers that give a glimpse into characters but I believe that your opinion on many of these characters will evolve once you see the card stats and read the story that I have put them in. I've also held out a couple of characters specifically because I preferred not revealing them ahead of time. I want some questions to remain even after you read the booklet- hopefully that convinces you to get the next game edition to see where things are going. If that happens then I am doing a good job.

44 pages of non stop convo and record setting pre sales. I’d say Mike did a nice job w teasers.
