Currently debating if I should purchase the remaining ROH sets that I don't have or making a bulk purchase with Chikara. Any suggestions? Do the Chikara sets tend to get over-the-top silly like at real shows? Any advantages to buying a majority of the Chikara sets for any additional matches or rules, etc? Just curious what the community thinks.

Perfect time and place w the BDK, Claudio, Quack and many others. A classic.

I agree w Swarm. Chikara sets are a ton of fun and aren’t overly goofy.

I promise that the cards I've statted have few weird mechanics...craziest card was statted by TM and that's Bryce. Also Rob is right..that was peak for Chikara.

Besides the starter set, what would be good sets to buy for Chikara? I’m looking for a rather big order, but since I don’t have any Chikara sets I wouldn’t be able to do all at once. I was thinking 5-7 additional sets on top of the starter set.

Okay best sets to get
1. Anniversario-mixing the old and new of Chikara (well new at that point) plus..Darkness Crabtree awesomeness. 2. Chikarmy Pack 1-for Mr. ZERO of course. Also has the crazy but very useful Bryce Remsburg card. 3. King of Trios-so many fun names in that set. 4. Ashes of Chikara-to get the sweetest man in wrestling 5. Chikarmy Pack 2-to get UMB his minions...plus Unstable goodness and ZERO's tag partner. 6. Young Lions-Merlok for the win. 7. Wrecking Crew-cause Sidney is fun and the Wrecking Crew is dangerous.

I guess it would depend on what you are looking for. If you are looking for cards to fill out a Chikara fed, you can pretty much take your pick. Troy's assessment above should give you a pretty good insight into what each set brings.
I don't run a Chikara fed so when I get the Chikara sets I am most looking forward to wrestlers that can feature in a more standard wrestling fed. So my list would look a little different:
1. Tribute - El Generico, Larry Sweeney 2. Wrecking Crew - Devastation Corporation 3. Tecnicos - Sara Del Rey upgrade, Saturyne, Da Soul Touchaz 4. KOT - Princess Kimberlee, Heidi Lovelace, JFDC 5. Ashes - Shynron 6. Aniversario - Solo Darling, Travis Huckabee, Robbie Ellis 7. Immortals - Blind Rage

Chikara starter is how I got into the game. I picked it up at a live event. I want the tribute and King of trios sets.

I see more and more Chikara guys out there in the indie world. The Estonian Thunder Frog wrestles locally all the time (as Super Atomic Thunder Frog) and some times even brings his hammer (though it broke at Wrestlepolooza, curious to see how this plays out, since a local rival stole the handle). I see Ophidian, Hollowicked, some of the sea creatures and a lot of the unmasked wrestlers more and more. Toney Deppen has gotten to be a favorite of mine. The cards are actually pretty cool. I always say get what interests you, but I get some Chikara stuff just because I see them on so many independent shows.
