July 12, 2091 Sparks. Lasers. Smoke. Explosions. And a pulsing theme...
Yeah, I get it, you're an outcast, always under attack,Always coming in last, bringing up the past,No one owes you anything!I think you need a shotgun blast, a kick in the ass,So paranoid, watch your back!Oh my, here we go...
Hillbilly Jim vs. Abdullah the ButcherReferee: Dick Woehrle
* Wow, what a bloodbath! Jim never stood a chance against the madman from the Sudan.
* It did not take long for Abdullah to resort to the use of a foreign object (to wit: a fork).
* Using his shrewd instincts (and ample girth), Abdullah was able to screen the use of the illegal object from the referee.
* When he wasn’t carving up Jim’s forehead, leaving him a
bloody mess, Abdullah was choking, gouging, or biting him.
* The end finally came after Abdullah struck Jim in the throat with a karate spear, knocking him senseless.
WINNER: Abullah the Butcher via pinfall (10:29) ***½
The Road Warriors (with “Precious” Paul Ellering) vs. The SheepherdersReferee: James Beard
* Animal and Butch Miller locked up to start the match, and Miller got off the first few punches.
* Animal fell flat on his back and Miller made the cover for one…two…three!
* Nah, I’m just kidding.
* Animal came roaring back, tagged in Hawk, and a
DOOMSDAY DEVICE ended it.
WINNERS: The Road Warriors via pinfall (3:38) —
“The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry (with “Genie” Teddy Long) vs. “The Russian Bear” Ivan KoloffReferee: Morgan Dollar
* The presence of the General Manager in Mark Henry’s corner came as a total shock to everyone, including Morgan Dollar.
* Nevertheless, Dollar made it clear that he wanted a decisive winner and called for the bell.
* Koloff charged immediately and went for a big clothesline…
* …and Henry caught him, hoisted him up and planted him with the
WORLD’S STRONGEST SLAM for one…two…kickout!
* The World's Strongest Man proceeded to toss Koloff around the ring like a rag doll.
* Koloff did manage a brief rally, but he made the mistake of attempting a body slam, injuring his back.
* Henry pounced like a rabid dog, hit another
WORLD’S STRONGEST SLAM, and ended the match.
* Per Teddy Long’s ruling, Koloff’s loss meant that he would have to leave the CWA.
WINNER: “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry via pinfall (8:30) **½
Pre-Match Interview: Tully Blanchard (with JJ Dillon) * Prior to his Four Corner match against Randy Savage, Curt Hennig, and Rick Rude, Blanchard met up with Gordon Solie.
* Before Blanchard could get a word out, Rick Rude came charging out from the back and attacked him from behind!
* Rude rolled Blanchard into the ring, and Hennig and Savage quickly raced out as the referee called for the bell!
Four-Way Elimination Match for the CWA Holovision Chamnpionship: Randy “Macho Man” Savage (with Cherie Dupré) (ch) vs. Curt Hennig vs. “Ravishing” Rick Rude (with Bobby “the Brain” Heenan) vs. Tully Blanchard (with JJ Dillon)Referee: Danny Davis
* Despite his shaky start, Blanchard was able to turn the tables on Rude and get him on the mat.
* Blanchard made a rare trek to the top rope and went for a flying knee drop, but Rude quickly jumped to his feet…
* …and pulled Danny Davis into the line of fire.
* With Davis down and out, all hell broke loose as all four men began tearing into one another.
* When it became obvious that Davis wouldn’t be recovering, a very nervous Joey Marella rushed out to take his place.
* While Blanchard and Rude mixed it up in the ring, Savage and Hennig tore into one another on the floor.
* Bobby Heenan alternated between cheering on Savage and Hennig, depending on who had the upper hand.
* Hennig planted Savage with a vicious piledriver onto the arena floor, then rolled him into the ring.
* Savage retaliated by driving the timekeeper’s bell into Hennig’s head, opening a
bloody gash.
* Savage climbed to the top rope and hit a picture-perfect
FLYING ELBOW DROP for one…two…thr—no!
* Savage grabbed Marella’s shirt collar, accusing him of being distracted and missing a beat on the count.
* Meanwhile, Rude raked Blanchard’s eyes and, seeing his former partner battered and
bloody, went for a pin.
* Joey Marella shook loose from Savage’s grip and made the three-count, eliminating Hennig from the match (24:20).
* Incensed at being denied a pinfall, Savage attacked Rude, only to have the Ravishing One fight back.
* With Savage’s neck weakened from the piledriver on the floor, one
RUDE AWAKENING was all it took to put him away (27:12).
* Rude raised his hands in victory, but forgot about his archnemesis Tully Blanchard…
* …who walloped Rude across the back with a chair, opening a nasty cut that began
bleeding heavily.
* Blanchard tried to move in for the kill…but Bobby Heenan reached into the ring and grabbed his ankle.
* A stiff kick sent Heenan tumbling to the floor, and Joey Marella left the ring to check on him…
* …thereby missing the small package Rude caught Blanchard with.
* Rude popped up to chastise the referee, allowing Blanchard to strike from behind, hit his
SLINGSHOT SUPLEX, and take home the prize.
WINNER and NEW CWA Holovision Champion: Tully Blanchard via pinfall (34:56) *****
Non-Title Scaffold Match: CWA World Tag Team Champions The Midnight Express vs. The Dream Team
* Without managers (or bodyguards) at ringside, the champions decided that Stan Lane and Dennis Condrey would represent their team.
* Lane and Condrey showed absolutely no chemistry and soon found themselves on the defensive.
* Lane was able to hold his own with karate kicks and back fists but faltered when Brutus Beefcake threw powder in his eyes.
* Lane fell backwards onto the scaffold, slipping off the edge and holding on for dear life.
* Condrey charged in to help, but wound up stepping on Lane’s fingers, sending him crashing to the mat below.
* Outnumbered two-to-one, Condrey stood no chance against the Dream Team, and was soon flung off the edge of the scaffold to join his partner.
WINNERS: The Dream Team (12:41) **
Post-Match Drama * After the match was over, "Luscious" Johnny V strode out to celebrate with his team once they (carefully) made their way down from the scaffold.
* Meanwhile, as medical personnel tended to the Midnight Express, Jim Cornette and Big Bubba Rogers hastened out to check on their men.
* As Condrey complained of an injured neck, Cornette began reading Lane the riot act.
* Cornette: "All you had to do was hold on, Stan! Dennis was
right there!" * As Lane lifted an injured forearm, illustrating that Condrey had stepped on his fingers, Cornette's shoulders slumped and he shook his head…
* …and then he walloped Lane across his injured wrist with his tennis racket!
* Big Bubba Rogers began stomping away on Lane while Bobby Eaton talked to Condrey, but upon realizing what was happening, Eaton rushed over…
* …and joined in the assault on Lane!
* CWA security personnel rushed out to restore order, but the damage to Lane was already done.
