PROUDLY PRESENTS CARD 079
Live from Golden State Wrestling Studios, Burbank, CA!
Jam packed studio is loud and anxious for our last night of action before STARRCADE! And we start off with a big thunderous boo for the WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION The Iron Sheik! Sheik comes to the ring and says he'll now show Rick Rude what he's up against at STARRCADE in their Finisher Match.
MATCH #1 NON-TITLE MATCH Iron Sheik d. Mister X via submission with the CAMEL CLUTCH. - SQUASH - Mister X didn't stand a chance against the onslaught of the Iron Sheik. After the match he paraded around berating the fans!
After the commercial break, Commissioner Patrick announced that tonight in the Main Event, THE BOLSHEVIKS would take on THE DREAM TEAM to determine the #1 contenders for the WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP!
MATCH #2 THE KILLER BEES d. MILLION DOLLAR CORPORATION via pinfall after B. Brian Blair covered Ted DiBiase after the BEE STING. - *1/2 - Blair and Brunzell did a pretty great job of keeping DiBiase and Virgil on defense the whole time. During the match, Sensational Sherri was ejected when the ref tired of her interfering in the matches. After the match, Blair and Brunzell celebrated in the ring with their manager Captain Lou Albano. The celebration took a serious turn when the KILLER BEES both expressed their concern at the behavior of The Missing Link. Brunzell said as much as they'd hate the thought, if Albano didn't reign him in soon, they'd have to look for other management. Albano shook his head and said he understood.
Jimmy Snuka came to ringside with Cousin Luke for the next match.
MATCH #3 Cousin Luke d. King Kong Bundy via DQ when Bundy slammed Luke into the guardrails. - ** - The bad blood between The Heenan Family and the Hillbillies and Snuka continues! Luke got in some good offense against Bundy but the action soon tumbled out of the ring and Bundy refused to bring it back in. Security had to come out to break it up when Snuka got involved. After the two were separated, Snuka remained in the ring for our next match. Cousin Luke was allowed to return if he promised not to get involved.
MATCH #4 Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka d. King Harley Race via DQ after Bobby Heenan was caught interfering on behalf of Race. - **1/2 - The action got hot and heavy afterwards and after the bell range another brawl broke out. Cousin Luke got on the mic after and challenged Heenan's men to a 3 man Gauntlet match at STARRCADE. Heenan laughed and said that the team of Race, Bundy and Mr. Perfect couldn't be beat! Especially not by Luke and Snuka and whomever they got to be their third. Luke and Snuka just smiled and nodded. With Hillbilly Jim still injured, many wondered who their third man would be.
MATCH #5 Cowboy Bob Orton d. Koko B. Ware via pinfall after an atomic kneedrop. - **1/2 - Great match between these two. At one point the ref was knocked out, but the match continued in a pretty fair manner until a new ref made his way out.
BILL APTER'S HOT SEAT First out was the Unknown, hooded wrestler who injured Magnificent Muraco a few weeks ago. Apter asked him several questions but Unknown would only nod. He gave no clues as to who he was. Whenever the questioning came around to Muraco he got heated. Suddenly Mr. Fuji arrived and said no thanks to Unknown, Muraco wasn't there, but he'll be fine for STARRCADE and Fuji was there to challenge Unknown to a steel cage match. Unknown agreed. The crowd went nuts and then Unknown turned to the camera. He made a thumbs down gesture and then made a motion as if he was taking off his hood. Apter asked for clarification if that meant if he lost he'd remove his hood. Unknown nodded then held up a hand. He made a thumbs up gesture and then made a motion as if he was taking off his hood. Apter, astonished, asked if that meant if he won he'd also remove his hood. Unknown nodded! Looks like at STARRCADE we will find out who Unknown is!
After a commercial break, Apter welcomed WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS THE ROAD WARRIORS and Paul Ellering to the Hot Seat. Apter asked what Hawk and Animal thought about either THE DREAM TEAM or THE BOLSHEVIKS getting a tag team shot at STARRCADE. Hawk and Animal looked serious for a moment. They looked at Ellering. Then all three men turned towards the camera and began laughing. Without saying a word they continued laughing as they left the Hot Seat set! Next up, our Main Event!
MAIN EVENT #1 CONTENDERS TO THE WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP THE BOLSHEVIKS d. THE DREAM TEAM via DQ when Brutus Beefcake refuses to stop brawling. - ** - During the match, Iron Sheik ran to ringside and interfered on behalf of Volkoff and Zhukov! After the bell, Johnny V. said that a number one contender couldn't be decided by DQ but the ref refused to listen so it looks like THE BOLSHEVIKS will be heading to STARRCADE to face THE ROAD WARRIORS for the belt!
Volkoff, Zhukov and Iron Sheik celebrated in the ring as the credits roll!

MATCH #1 "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan d. George "The Animal" Steele via pinfall after an amazing hurricanrana. - ** - Duggan looked strong and impressed the crowd with an unexpected hurricanrana to put The Animal away.
MATCH #2 "Cowboy" Bob Orton d. Koko B. Ware via pinfall after a SUPERPLEX. - * - Completely different from their last encounter, Orton dominated and easily got the win here.
MATCH #3 HARDCORE TEXAS DEATH MATCH The Missing Link d. One Man Gang via pinfall with a BACK FLYING HEADBUTT. - ***1/2 - This one was as wild as people predicted. At one point Sir Oliver Humperdink was ejected after he tried to break up a pin attempt. After the match, the bloodied Link seemed calmer than he'd been in recent weeks. Was this the match needed to calm the Link down? Time will tell.
MATCH #4 MILLION DOLLAR CORPORATION d. THE KILLER BEES via submission when Ted DiBiase locked the MILLION DOLLAR DREAM on Jumping Jim Brunzell - **1/2
MATCH #5 3 on 3 GAUNTLET MATCH GAUNTLET MATCH #1 King Kong Bundy d. Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka via pinfall after the AVALANCHE thanks to interference by Bobby Heenan. - **
GAUNTLET MATCH #2 Cousin Luke d. King Kong Bundy via DQ when Bundy rammed Luke into the rail at ringside despite the ref's warnings. - *** - An amazing match that saw Cousin Luke kick out of the AVALANCHE at one point!
GAUNTLET MATCH #3 Mr. Perfect d. Cousin Luke via pinfall with the PERFECT PLEX. - ** - Luke hung in there but the damage was done in his match with Bundy.
After this match everyone was waiting to see who Snuka and Luke had recruited for their team and soon it was revealed when ANDRE THE GIANT walked through the curtain! The crowd went nuts.
GAUNTLET MATCH #4 Mr. Perfect d. Andre The Giant via DQ when Andre refused to stop brawling. - * - Heenan's men pull out the win in the Gauntlet match! Heenan was ecstatic, but it was apparent this feud is far from over!
MATCH #6 THE DREAM TEAM d. THE BUSHWHACKERS via DQ when Bushwhacker Luke refused to bring the action back into the ring. - *1/2 - Short match between these two teams. THE DREAM TEAM were visibly upset they were not going for the belts tonight. They wanted to prove a point by winning here, but the BUSHWHACKERS were up to their normal antics and got themselves DQ'd.
MATCH #7 STEEL CAGE MATCH Magnificent Muraco d. Unknown by escaping the cage after an Asiatic Spike - *** - This was practically a squash. Muraco was furious at the way this Unknown character had been attacking him week in and week out and then injuring him, so he didn't let Unknown get in any offense. After knocking him cold with the Asiatic Spike and getting the win, Muraco climbed back into the ring and ripped off the mask revealing Unknown's true identity! It was none other than Terry Gordy! The wrestler who won the Rookie Brawl at the start of the year. The crowd cheered loudly and this infuriated Muraco more as he'd won the match.
MATCH #8 WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP THE BOLSHEVIKS d. THE ROAD WARRIORS via pinfall after Volkoff hit Animal with a running stomp. - ***3/4 - THE ROAD WARRIORS were so close to winning several times. They even fended off interference by the HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION The Iron Sheik! But they actually got cocky and instead of going for the win, they allowed the Russian's to find a chink in the armor and get the win and claim the WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP! They celebrated in the ring and stayed with The Iron Sheik as he prepared for the main event!
MAIN EVENT WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP FINISHER MATCH The Iron Sheik d. "Ravishing" Rick Rude via submission with the CAMEL CLUTCH. - ****1/4 - Another amazing match. Rude dominated but just couldn't find the opportunity to hit the RUDE AWAKENING! The veteran Iron Sheik took his time and soon found himself in the right position to lock in the CAMEL CLUTCH and soon Rude was submitting, much to the chagrin of Bobby Heenan!
The Iron Sheik retains and the realization sunk in that The Iron Sheik and THE BOLSHEVIKS now hold all the gold in GOLDEN STATE WRESTLING! Volkoff treated us to the Russian National Anthem as the credits roll!

MATCH #1 Rowdy Roddy Piper d. Mister X via submission with the SLEEPER - SQUASH - Piper wastes no time sending a clear message that he has arrived in GSW.

From the cheers, it seems to have some fans here in GSW.
MATCH #2 George "The Animal" Steele d. One Man Gang via submission with the FLYING HAMMERLOCK - * - Big win by The Animal here! Captain Lou Albano seemed very pleased. After the match Albano was asked about the whereabouts of Missing Link. Albano shocks the crowd by saying that Link had grown to unpredictable and, with Steele, too much to handle so he has 'sent him where he can get the help he deserves.' Former champion, Missing Link gone from the GSW? Shocking, fans!
MATCH #3 King Harley Race d. Andre the Giant via pinfall after two PILEDRIVERs in a row - **1/2 - The King does, seemingly, the impossible! He hoists the Giant up for not now, but two Piledrivers! This was enough to put the big man down for good. Heenan celebrates wildly after the match and mocks the Giant now prone on the mat!
MATCH #4 Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka d. "Ravishing" Rick Rude via pinfall after the SUPERFLY LEAP - ***1/2 - Snuka's battle with the Heenan Family continues and he gets a big win here over the former #1 Contender to the WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP.
MATCH #5 KILLER BEES d. THE ROAD WARRIORS when B. Brian Blair locked Hawk in a Sleeper - * - It goes without saying that this is a huge win for Blair and Brunzell! The champs seem to have lost some focus after losing to THE BOLSHEVIKS. They leave ringside, with Ellering, without making a comment. The fans, and they have many, seemed concerned.
BILL APTER'S HOT SEAT GUESTS: WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION The Iron Sheik and WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS THE BOLSHEVIKS. The Iron Sheik and THE BOLSHEVIKS are greeted with a loud chorus of boos. Iron Sheik says he doesn't care what the 'stupid Americans' think. The IRON CURTAIN (name of their stable) holds all the gold in GSW and they will for years to come. He also says that while the superior wrestling ability of himself and Volkoff and Zukhov are largely responsible for their success, it was the brains of one man who laid out the plan and made this happen.
IRON SHEIK: I present to you, the mastermind, Classy Freddie Blassie!
Dressed in sequin, from head to toe and carrying a cane, Classy Freddie Blassie makes his entrance.
BLASSIE: Classy Freddie Blassie, the manager of champions, has arrived, you pencil necked geeks!
What plans could Blassie have for his men? Time will tell!
MAIN EVENT STARRCADE REMATCH Magnificent Muraco d. Terry Gordy via DQ after Gordy slams Muraco on the arena floor - *1/2 - Muraco demanded this rematch after STARRCADE, now that it was known that THE UNKOWN was ROOKIE BRAWL winner, Terry Gordy! The bad blood still flowed and Gordy got himself disqualified for his actions outside the ring! The two continued to brawl after the bell as the credit started to roll.

PIPER and ORTON begin destroying the HOT SEAT set. Apter is begging them to stop. Orton chases Apter off the set which is now in ruins.
PIPER: Uh oh. Someone broke the set here. That's no good! Looks like we'll have to find something to replace it. (Piper grins mischievously at the camera) We'll see you next time on Superstars!
