Wow I came in to say of course Ted Dibiase loses the title after I praise his title reign but now he has it back. That was quick. I was happy to see Vampiro get that title win, though, and I look forward to their two-out-of-three falls match. Great action as always my friend.

Mikey Whipwreck & Too Cool (Brian Christopher & Scott Taylor) def. Lou Albano, Tommy Gilbert & Frank Dalton when Whipwreck pinned Albano after a WHIPPER-SNAPPER - ** ½. A pin save from Gilbert kept Dalton alive after a HIP HOP DROP but in the in end, a hot tag to Whipwreck set the fans on fire and lead to the finish.

Buddy Rogers def. Angelo Poffo with a FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE - ****. Poffo came to compete and nearly pinned the Nature Boy in the opening seconds of the match and proceeded to give Rogers all he could handle but Nature Boy made a comeback and was able to trap Poffo in his finisher in the middle of the ring to end this classic all heel battle.
Vachons (Mad Dog Vachon & Butcher Vachon) def. Barry Windham & B.G. James when Mad Dog Vachon pinned James after a PILEDRIVER - **. Some solid back and forth action from the outset that featured Mad Dog Vachon going into the post and being busted open. Vachon managed to kick out after a LARIAT from Windham and later James survived a QUADRUPLE FOOT STOMP but Windham’s pin save was blocked.
Jimmy Snuka def. Iron Sheik in a New Castle Street Fight with a SUPERFLY LEAP - ****. The action was violent and bloody in this one as both men brawled in and out of the ring and made use of plenty of weapons. At one point, Sheik applied back to back to back CAMEL CLUTCHES but Snuka managed to escape each time before he mounted a huge comeback landing his finisher to put away his foe.

Card 44 - Augusta Armory, Augusta, ME
Rock Riddle def. Ron Hutchison with a BOSTON CRAB * ½. A closely contested opener that saw Riddle make an impressive counter into a short arm scissors and then into his finisher to get the submission victory. Larry Hennig & Hugh Morrus def. Frank Dalton & Tommy Gilbert when Hennig used THE AXE on Gilbert – dud. Four moves is all it took for Morgan Dollar to issue the three count in this one as Morrus blocked the pin save from Dalton after Hennnig landed his finisher.
Johnny Valentine def. Mikey Whipwreck with an ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER - **. Whipwreck gave Valentine fits for most of the match with his speed and agility but once Valentine was able to corner his opponent things came to an end rather quickly.
Flying Redheads (Red Bastien & Billy Red Lyons) def. Too Cool (Brian Christopher & Scott Taylor) when Bastien used a sleeper on Taylor - ****. This was tag team excellence from the opening handshake to the finish with both sides showing sportsmen ship and skill through out. The Redheads were able to focus a prolonged attack on Taylor but he was eventually able to make a hot tag and the action continued back and forth will all four men seeing action until Bastien trapped Taylor in a sleeper and Lyons cut off the pin save from Christopher.
Killer Kowalski def. Pampero Firpo in an Augusta Street Fight with a KOWALSKI CLAW - ***. For those fortunate to follow the action to the parking lot, they were able to witness the only offense from Firpo who backdropped Kowalski onto a car but aside from that moment Firpo took a significant beating and was left in a bloody heap in the middle of the ring after the bell.
Texas Hangmen (Killer & Psycho) def. World Tag Team Champions Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) w/Paul Ellering when Killer pinned Hawk after a choke with the bullrope – dud. The fans were left stunned as we have new champions in just four moves (snake eyes!) as the Hangmen grabbed the gold and ran for their lives after the bell.
World Champion Ted DiBiase & “Iron” Mike DiBiase battled Jack Brisco & Vampiro to a double disqualification. ** ½. Brisco and the champion traded moves until Iron Mike tagged in. Once Vampiro was in trouble, Ted DiBiase was more than happy to get his shots in but could not put away his next challenger after a pair of FULL POWER SLAMS and a LOADED GLOVE as well. Things ended up on the floor and the referee lost control.

Jack Brisco and Vampiro....definitely not a team I ever thought I'd see.
Always fun to see Rock Riddle grab a win. Texas Hangmen just keep pulling off the upsets.

Card 45 – Madison Square Garden, New York, New York
Johnny Valentine def. Rock Riddle with an ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER - **. Valentine came to get some payback and it was a long night for Riddle who was outclassed from bell to bell and took some serious punishment before it was over. Buddy Rogers def. Angelo Poffo with an atomic drop - * ½. Morgan Dollar was in charge of the action and Rogers controlled almost the entire match but could never get Poffo in a position to use his finisher leg lock and instead picked up the pinfall without too much difficulty.
Larry Hennig & Hugh Morrus def. Vachons (Butcher Vachon & Mad Dog Vachon) when Hennig pinned Butcher Vachon with a cross body deathjump - *. Fans expected plenty of chaos between these two hard hitting teams but Butcher Vachon was cut off from his brother early and was never able to recover before Hennig came off the top with a dive that was ugly but got the job done (Snake Eyes!).
Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal) w/Paul Ellering def. World Tag Team Champions Texas Hangmen (Psycho & Killer) when Animal pinned Psycho after a DOOMSDAY DEVICE - **. After strict instructions from Morgan Dollar the champions had control until Animal battering rammed Psycho into the ring post while Ellering distracted Dollar. The momentum never turned back the Legion of Doom became three-time champions with their finisher while Hawk countered the pin save.
Flying Redheads (Red Bastien & Billy Red Lyons) def. Soviets (Alexis Smirnoff & Nikolai Volkoff) when Bastien pinned Smirnoff after an ATOMIC DROP - * ½. Volkoff was cut off from his corner early on and took some punishment but Smirnoff finally stepped in but the speed the Redheads soon gave then the advantage once again and Lyons used a SLEEPERHOLD to set up his partner’s finisher.
Steve Corino def. Al Snow w/Head in a Falls Count Anywhere Match with an OLD SCHOOL EXPLUSION - **. The action quickly went outside and it did not go well for Snow who found himself suplexed onto the floor and then rammed head first into the ring post. The blood loss was significant, but Snow managed to kick out after one finisher but could not do so after the second.
Lou Albano, Tommy Gilbert & Frank Dalton def. Too Cool (Brian Christopher & Scott Taylor) & Mikey Whipwreck in an elimination match by disqualification - *****. Despite the finish, this match multiple exciting near falls, pin saves, brawling and high flying spanned over the maximum number of eliminations with the fans left exhausted when it was all finished. After the match, Whipwreck returns to ringside and brawls with Albano to the back. Lou Albano eliminated Mikey Whipwreck with a SICILAIN SLAM Scott Taylor eliminated Frank Dalton with a superkick Lou Albano eliminated Scott Taylor with a SICILIAN SLAM Brian Christopher eliminated Tommy Gilbert with a HIP HOP DROP Brian Christopher was eliminated by disqualification when he took a chair from Albano and used the weapon himself.
Killer Kowalski def. Pampero Firpo in a New York Street Fight with a KOWALSKI CLAW - ***. This was an intense back and forth battle that stayed in the ring early on but eventually saw the two batting on Madison Avenue where Kowalski was sent onto the hood of a cab!
Jack Brisco def. “Iron” Mike DiBiase with a ROLLING REVERSE CRADLE - ** ½. DIBiase gave Brisco everything he could handle and then some nearly scoring the upset pin in the opening moments with a roll up and then surviving two FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCKS late in the match before finally getting pinned with Brisco’s fourth finisher of the night.
Iron Sheik def. Jimmy Snuka in a Fijian Strap Match with a CAMEL CLUTCH – dud. The strap never even comes into play as the Snuka quickly takes the match to the floor where Sheik rams the Superfly back first into the post. Moments later, Snuka cannot escape his opponent’s finisher and Sheik has an incredibly unpopular victory over a top contender.
Women’s Champion Mildred Burke def. Trish Stratus with an ALLIGATOR CLUTCH - * ½. Burke just seemed to stop all of her challenger’s offense before it was started aside for several vicious exchanges of forearms, really dominate this match from bell to bell.
World Champion Ted DiBiase def. Vampiro in a best of three falls match 2:0 - ****. DiBiase had some words for Morgan Dollar before the bell and the official appeared upset. Fall one was an epic battle that saw Morgan Dollar get briefly knocked down midway through the action. After surviving a NAIL IN THE COFFIN, DiBiase smashed Vampiro into the ring post and busted him open. Despite the blood loss, Vamprio fought out of two FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCKS before DiBiase scored the win with a FULL POWER SLAM. The second fall is over quick. Vampiro gains control but a backdrop countered into a piledriver sets up a backbreaker from DiBiase and he retains in two straight. A battered and exhausted Vamprio needs assistance leaving ringside.
Rankings: World Champion: Ted DiBiase (1) 1. Vampiro (WC) 2. Killer Kowalski (5) 3. Jimmy Snuka (2) 4. Pampero Firpo (3) 5. Iron Sheik (4) 6. Jack Brisco (-) 7. Mikey Whipwreck (-) 8. Al Snow (5) 9. Buddy Rogers (7) 10. Lou Albano (-)

A little disappointed that Vampiro lost the title back to DiBiase so soon after winning it (and that he failed to reclaim the gold in his rematch)... But, it was fun watching him team up with Jack Brisco... Ahhh, the wonders of this game!

That last MSG card was great from top to bottom. Ted Dibiase seems to have a lock on the world title again (there I go jinxing him lol) after that solid win over Vampiro. Iron Sheik with a Fijiaan Strap Match win over Jimmy Snuka - wow! I like it. I also liked that win by Jack Brisco over Iron Mike Dibiase. I'm hoping for big things from Brisco in the North East.

Card 46 - Jaffa Mosque, Altoona, PA
Ron Hutchison def. Pampero Firpo by disqualification when Firpo refused to stop choking Hutchison at ringside. -*. Firpo got under the skin of Morgan Dollar before the bell and then proceeded to dominate the match with Hutchison having him beat with El GARFIO but Firpo released the hold to dish out some more punishment but he took things too far and left Altoona with the loss.
Mikey Whipwreck def. Rock Riddle with a WHIPPER SNAPPER - *. The fans were rocking with Whipwreck’s fast paced offense and Riddle clearly was outclassed tonight.
Soviets (Alexis Smirnoff & Nikolai Volkoff) def. B.G. James & Barry Windham when Volkoff pinned James after a BACKBREAKER DROP - **. The Russian combo made an impressive comeback after Smirnoff was cut off from his corner for a stretch but Volkoff was able to overpower James late in the match and pick up the victory with his finisher. Johnny Valentine def. Al Snow w/Head by disqualification when Snow smashed Valentine with Head during a brawl on the floor – dud. This one lasted only a couple of moves before the action spilled outside where Head became involved. Both men brawled after the match and back to the dressing room. Steve Corino def. Jack Brisco with OLD SCHOOL EXPULSION - **. Brisco controlled early working the lower body but a superkick stopped Brisco cold and moments later Corino picked up the upset pin with is finisher leaving the fans stunned. Jimmy Snuka def. Iron Sheik in a Fijian Strap Match with a SUPERFLY LEAP - *. Snuka dominated this one from bell to bell and the strap really never came into play. World Tag Team Champions Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) w/Paul Ellering def. Texas Hangmen (Psycho & Killer) when Hawk pinned Killer after a DOOMSDAY DEVICE - **. The challengers gave the Warriors some scares including a HANGMEN BACKBREAKER that nearly ended it before Animal tagged into the action and brutalized both of the Hangmen before the tag finisher lead to the three count from Morgan Dollar.
Jack Brisco continues to be very inconsistent for me.

Hutch gets a big win in the show opener against Firpo, even though it was a technical decision... Honestly, I don't think anyone gets DQ'd more frequently than the Wild Bull of the Pampas.
Looks like you have an effective Russian combo with Smirnoff and Volkoff... Would not be surprised to see them making a run at the tag belts before too long.
Disappointing performance by Jack Brisco... Looks like Corino had his number.
After briefly dropping the tag belts to the Vachons awhile back, I'm not surprised to see the Road Warriors holding strong at the top.
Fun stuff, as always!
