think this group is really cool. The IWC does a nice job of almost never giving anything in WWE a chance - but I’m digging it. Especially T-BAR and Mia Yim. The hockey mask guy is great too.
Does everyone echo the IWC that this is dumb or does anyone else think it’s kind of cool and different?

Forgot to mention that I think Keith Lee eventually gets exposed as the leader. They showed up right around the time he did. So that’s my guess.

Agreed, but this is about the time of year when the WWE produces interesting storylines that draw people in (Summer of Punk, Nexus), only to crush all interest within a month or two. Hoping I'm wrong this time, but not holding my breath.

When Retribution started showing up did anyone else think this might be a ripoff of TNA's Aces and Eights storyline? I think the initial intent was for it to be an allegory of Antifa. My guess is someone got it Vince's ear and told him that probably isn't the best idea right now and it changed to whatever it is Retribution is now. I find the whole thing to be somewhere between run of the mill "takeover WWE faction" and really really dumb. As mentioned above, it REALLY feels like the sort of thing WWE throws at the wall for a few weeks before dumping it and starting fresh with whoever they felt like was the standout star of the short-lived angle. The names are also really dumb. I'm not original in this thought but it sounds like they were going for something out of Mad Max with the names. Their masks kind of have that sort of look as well. I don't like the look or the names at all. Their interviews also make no sense from what I have seen. It's all "we're coming for you" type of stuff. No reasons, no vision for the group. And why in the world would WWE have signed these wrestlers if they were vandalizing WWE property and attacking people for weeks on end. Not to mention... they were all already signed. They were all wrestling in NXT for quite some time. Then we were told that The Hurt Business has offered their services in defending WWE against Retribution. Why would they need to defend WWE against a group of wrestlers WWE just signed? It's just bad story telling. With them all off tv for a couple weeks, their time could already be limited. Vince has a very short attention span.

I disagree that there is no story being told. Just their name tells a story. Sure, maybe we don’t know all the details yet but that’s how stories go. I’m also a huge fan of masked wrestlers and factions. So this is working for me so far. T-BAR is especially entertaining.

Whelp - you guys were right. I was wrong. This storyline officially stinks now. Really thought Lee would be the leader. Oh well.

I just think Vince is booking week to week. Whatever long term plan they have for anyone is only penciled in and will be erased and re-written again and again until the very moment it goes live on tv. I'm convinced at this point that even he doesn't have the slightest clue what he will do next.

He’s a great guy to build the Cruiserweight or even IC division around but as the leader of a big new heel faction? Uhg.

This just doesn't feel like a fit for him.
