Hi everyone. I'm just here to party like it's 2009 on a message board away from anti-social media and post some results.
The premise: basic pre-90s NWA territory style.
The execution: simple and easy to read. Because no one has time to for 40 paragraphs of some randoms fed results.
The settings: "the studio" is like a cross between the old TBS World Championship Wrestling studio and the Irish McNeil Boys Club where Mid South ran until the mid 1980s. Only bigger with better lighting.
"The arena" is for supercards and ppv shows. Imagine any old style arena.
The main focus is on the flagship, Championship Wrestling. It's essentially my JCP airing on TBS at 6:05PM eastern. There are other key territories like California (the old timers like Gorgeous George, Thesz, etc), Philadelphia Extreme(you already know), Minnesota (AWA style). You get the picture. Sometimes I'll roll cards for those shows, but otherwise just imagine they're running in the background while the stuff in CW is happening.
And now, the obligatory title tournament. Because the former champ Roddy Piper took a contract from the big national promotion out of New York (or Stamford, as the case may be). Or something.
Opening Round:
-Curt Hennig pinned Brutus Beefcake with a Hennig Plex.
-RVD defeated Nikolia Volkoff with rolling thunder in a huge clash of styles.
-Hacksaw Jim Duggan upset Ted DiBiase with the flying spear.
-Macho Man Randy Savage defeated Gorgeous George in convincing fashion.
-Iron Sheik won by disqualification over Superfly Snuka when Snuka pushed the ref out of the way during a brawl on the floor.
-Bobo Brazil defeated US Champion Harley Race in a tremendous bout, getting the pin after a series of Coco Butts.
-Bruiser Brody pinned King Kong Bundy in a war of attrition.
-Lou Thesz pinned Buddy Rogers with a Greco Roman backdrop in a mat classic.
Round Two:
-Curt Hennig won by disqualification over RVD after Van Dam got caught using the Van Daminator.
-Randy Savage beat Hacksaw Duggan with the flying elbow.
-Bobo Brazil pinned Iron Sheik to gain a fairly easy victory.
-Lou Thesz survived a beating to comeback with the Thesz Press pin on Bruiser Brody.
Semi- finals:
-Randy Savage defeated Curt Hennig in a good match.
-Lou Thesz won a back and forth match over Bobo Brazil.
Tag Team Title Match:
The Road Warriors defeated The Long Riders when Hawk pinned Wild Bill after the Doomsday Device.
Finals:
Macho Man Randy Savage pinned Lou Thesz after a flying elbow to be crowned the new NWA world champion.
Aftermath:
-Lou Thesz is leaving for an extended tour of Japan, forgoing a rematch and leaving the number one contendership to be decided.
-King Kong Bundy refuses to accept the loss to Brody and demanded another match. Bruiser gladly accepted.
-The Road Warriors and manager Precious Paul Ellering are begging for a real set of challengers. So far, they claim, there are none. Promoters have signed the greatest tag teams the nation has to offer and promise the division is about to heat up.
