Always fun to see a nice old flag match. Disco seems to have Jerry's number for some reason.

NWA Worldwide With Gordon Solie and Bob Caudle Gordon: "Welcome to another week of exciting action from around the NWA. Tonight we will see a big main event from Mexico where Konnan and Vampiro will attempt to settle their differences inside of a steel cage. Also, first round action in the tournament to crown the NWA women's championship when front runner Sherri Martel faces the tough Malia Hosaka. But first we go to Philly where Jerry Lynn takes on Chris Candido." Chris Candido pinned Jerry Lynn after the Blonde Bomb. Lynn started quick but Candido cut him off and got the decisive win. Caudle: "Candido with the impressive win moves one step closer to title contention. And now we go to Florida where the Rock N Roll Express make a special appearance against the makeshift tag team of Randy Rose and Hugh Morrus." Rock N Roll Express beat Randy Rose and Hugh Morrus when Ricky pinned Rose. Hugh and Randy looked good individually, but did not gel as a team. The Express used their tag team expertise to overcome their opponents and get the win, with Ricky pinning Randy as Robert ketp High out of the ring. After the match Hugh Morrus got in the ring and picked his partner up off the mat. He then viciously slammed him down and used the No Laughing Matter moonsault.
Gordon: "Hugh Morrus making a statement. Make no doubt about it the laughing man is one to watch out for in the National Wrestling Alliance. And now, the travelling sideshow led by Tony Clifton continues in Texas where Don Curtis faces the Terrible Turk." Don Curtis beat Terrible Turk with the sleeper. Turk tossed Curtis around early, but Don made a big comeback. Clifton made a timely distraction, but Curtis regrouped and slapped on the sleeper for the win.
Bill Apter welcomed Johnny Valentine for a special interview. Johnny pointed out his recent string of wins and his place in the Pro Wrestling Illustrated rankings as proof that he deserves the next shot at the Pacific champion Jim Londos. Apter said he had been informed that the championship committee has agreed and that match will happen soon. Sherri Martel beat Malia Hosaka with a top rope splash to advance in the women's championship tournament. Fantastic match. Sherri tried to bully her way to the win early, but Hosaka fought back. The action went back and forth for nearly ten minutes until Sherri finally got the win.
Konnan defeated Vampiro in a bloody cage match. Both men bled and the cage was used liberally, but Konnan overcame the onslaught of Vampiro to get the victory.

Nice win by Curtis there. Sherri proves to be tough as always. Yeah, I'm for sure leading up to a Sherri versus Moolah match in the semi-final if all goes to plan. Don Curtis has a real solid card, so I'm glad that one went his way

NWA Championship Wrestling with your hosts, Tony and David Tony and David did the show open and then were joined by Johnny Mantel. Mantel called out Scott Casey for cheating in their last match and said he is challenging Casey to come out "right here, right now" to face his NEW protege, Texas Hangman Strangler. Casey entered the scene and said Mantel can get a dozen big guy and put them in masks but it won't change the fact that he's a yellow coward who can't fight his own battles or own his own mistakes. With that said Strangler jumped Casey and the battle spilled over to the ring. Texas Hangman Strangler* defeated Scott Casey with a side backbreaker.Strangler with the early advantage, but Casey fought back. The action left the ring, where Strangler used a cowbell to knock Casey silly. He tossed him back into the ring and went on to score the pin. Jim Cornette entered the scene as David Crockett was attempting to move the show along. Cornette told the world that Vader was here to continue his path of destruction until he gets the world title back, but first the Midnight Express are going to show the fans why they are still the uncrowned and next tag team champions, taking a back seat to no "jacked up painted goofs". Midnight Express defeated Ron Hutchison and Nacho Barerra when Condrey pinned Hutichson.Ron with a few slick moves at the outset, but Bobby got tagged in and took over. The Express went on to break it down and get the win. After the bell VADER stormed the ring and dragged Nacho off the apron. He gave Nacho a Vader Bomb and assisted Bobby in a "super Rocket Launcher" on Ron. Before the carnage could continue Jimmy Valiant, Manny Fernandez, and Pampero Firpo rushed the ring with steel chairs in hand. Bobby and Dennis took off, but Vader stodd his ground and took a shot from each man before Cornette yelled at Vader to retreat. Valiant, Manny, and Firpo joined Tony and David after the altercation. Firpo said he wants Vader and then he wants to see Manny and Jimmy get their hands on the Express once and for all. Commissioner Bill Watts entered the scene and said he wants exactly what they want and they will get it. He's ordering a match tonight in the main event between Vader and Firpo, and then next month at the big event at the Omni Jimmy and Manny will get their scaffold match against the Midnight Express and there's not a thing Cornette and his team of lawyers can do about it because this feud has got to be settled. The Patriot defeated Wild Bill White via Uncle Slam.White got some offense, but Patriot scored a convincing win. Tony talked with Patriot and Bob Backlund after the match. Patriot said he finally got rid of the Russian menace and his next mission is to get that United States championship from Masked Superstar and represent the country with the pride and respect it deserves. Bob Backlund said he will be in Patriot's corner coaching him the entire way because, as an All American himself, he knows how important it is to represent the United States with the honor it deserves regardless of politics and ideology. Patriot and Bob shook hands and walked away as Tony threw it back to Gary Michael Capetta and the introduction of the light heavyweight title match. Ric McCord defeated Steve Regal (w/Melina) via disqualification in a light heavyweight title match.McCord had the figure four locked in center ring after about five minutes of action. Regal was in trouble until Melina jumped onto the apron to distract the referee, screeching and motioning to the back for Disco to come to the ring. McCord appealed to the ref to get her off the apron as Regal recovered and charged from behind. McCord sidestepped and Regal went flying out of the ring (McCord rolled to throw him out of ring, okay? Let me spice it up). Regal tried to take off again, but McCord went out to stop him. Regal hit McCord with the title belt to draw the disqualification. After the match Melina spoke to David while an exhausted Regal attempted to regain his wind. Melina was angry about Disco not being there when he was needed. Disco Inferno came out and Melina demanded that he explain himself. DI said it was pretty simple: he's beaten Jerry Brisco TWICE and Regal can't even defend his title without help, so Disco Inferno is done letting Mr Electricity get the spotlight. In fact, he thinks he deserves a shot at the title himself so from now on consider Disco Inferno no longer part of the team. Rockin Robin defeated Princess Victoria in a first round match in the NWA women's title tournament.Robin dominated the first several minutes until Victoria took advantage of a mistake and nearly got the pin. In the end Robin hit the bulldog for the win. Video Pacakge: "THE POWERS OF PAIN ARE COMING NEXT WEEK!" Vader defeated Pampero Firpo after a release power bomb.Firpo attacked at the bell and rocked Vader with some hard shots and a head butt. Vader came back with a power body slam and never looked back, getting the pin inside of three minutes with the release power bomb and emphatic pin. * Hangman Strangler is just a remix of Killer with Psycho's defense. A fill-in for storyline reasons.

NWA Worldwide Gordon and Bob introduced the show and Gordon recapped the latest happenings in Florida, where Hugh Morrus has attempted to make an impact by attacking friend and foe alike. Bob said that's left him on a metaphorical island by himself and he seems just fine with that. Hugh Morrus defeated Randy Rose with No Laughing Matter.Rose and Hugh met center ring and exchanged blows as the ring announcer was finishing introductions. Rose got the advantage but Hugh cut him off with a power bomb and got the win in about two minutes. The action from Texas was featured next as Gordon explained that Don Curtis attempts to continue his winning ways after shutting the mouth of Tony Clifton last week. Don Curtis won by disqualification over Wild Bull Curry.Curry has arrived after his stint in California and wasted no time cementing his reputation. The first chance he got he introduced a wooden chair into the proceedings and was disqualified. Joyce Grable defeated Leilani Kai after a middle rope dropkick.Grable toughed it out to win a hard fought match and advance in the women's title tournament. Bill Apter conducted a special interview with JJ Dillon and Masked Superstar. JJ said everyone from Magnum to Patriot is after the United States title, but Superstar is unbeatable. Superstar agreed and said maybe it's time he himself set his sights on the next mountain to climb and that's Jack Brisco's world heavyweight title. He said he will be on World Championship.Wrestling this coming week and he will confront Brisco to see if the champ is as fearless as he claims. Apter asked what happens if Vader is there to continue his path of destruction and gets to Brisco first. JJ did not answer and ended the interview.
Bob Orton defeated Bobo Brazil with a piledriver. From California, A long and hard fought contest ended when Bobo seemed to land awkwardly when thrown out of the ring. Orton followed him and ran his head into the ring post, then went to the pile driver in the ring for the win. After the match Orton continued to put the boots to Bobo and was joined by Buddy Rogers. Bobo was in big trouble until Johnny Valentine surprisingly ran in to make the save.In a ringside interview after the incident a wary Brazil thanked his long time rival. Valentine explained that as much as they'd done battle Brazil has always fought with integrity which, no matter what the fans think, is how Johnny Valentine does business. He said he can't say the same for Orton or especially Rogers and they had better both watch their backs when Valentine is in the building. Johnny said he has a title match coming with Londos but he doesn't mind taking a detour if it means shutting up Rogers one more time. Back in the studio, Bob said they have gotten word that Valentine and Brazil will team up next week to face Orton and Rogers in what should be a historic confrontation. And finally this week, the action goes to Philadelphia where the Pitbulls are back at full strength and looking for revenge on Shane Douglas and his partner Chris Candido. Shane Douglas and Candido beat The Pitbulls when Shane pinned Pitbull 2. Things were going the Pitbulls' way in this wild affair when ringside photographer Mike Lano got in the way and was used as a human shield by Candido. Candido tossed Lano towards 2, then followed with a chair to the Pitbull's skull. The action went back to the ring where Shane got the pin after the tag with a belly to belly.

NWA World Championship Wrestling hosted as usual by Mr Tony and Sir David Tony introduced this special edition by announcing the main event will be world champion Jack Brisco teaming with his brother to face Harley Race and Bob Roop. In addition, two title matches as the United States title and the light heavyweight championship will be defended. Then David threw it to the ring for the opener. Tully Blanchard defeated Sam Houston after using a foreign object.Houston fought hard, but still can't quite beat Tully after numerous attempts. Blanchard resorted to using a foreign object to get the pin, but the win still counts. After the match Tony and David were joined by Magnum TA to talk about his recent disappointments in not being able to win back the US title. Tully Blanchard interrupted and was not happy about seeing Magnum once again trying to steal Tully's TV time. Magnum said he's disappointed hearing Tully talk a good game, but not being able to quite back it up in the ring. Magnum suggested they could keep talking about it or they could meet in the ring next week and do something about it. Tully agreed and the match is set. Thunderbolt Patterson defeated Tiger Conway Jr after a big head butt.Patterson offered a handshake after a quick flurry at the bell by Conway, but used a cheap shot instead and took over. Conway tried to get back on offense, but wasn't able to mount much as Patterson got a convincing pinfall win. After the match Patterson spoke to Tony and David. He said there are a lot of big talkers and a lot of smooth walkers, but none of them can talk the talk or walk the walk like Thunderbolt Patterson. Jazz defeated Beverly Shade with a STF to advance in the women's title tournament.Shade used her signature HAMMER, but Jazz was able to keep going and turn things around to get the win after about five minutes of action. World champion Jack Brisco was interviewed next. Tony asked about the challenges coming from all sides with Race, Vader, and now Masked Superstar all gunning for him. Jack said he doesn't shy away from any challenge and he'll face any of them or all of them if the championship committee deems it necessary. JJ Dillon and Masksed Superstar entered the scene and Superstar said, as US champion, he is the rightful number one contender and wants his match. Jack said the mask must make Superstar hard of hearing because he just said he'd fight anyone the committee says he should, so he can get in line or go make his case. Brisco walked away as Superstar fumed and kicked at the air in frustration. Bob Backlund defeated Rock Riddle with a Boston Crab submission.Impressive win for Backlund against a game competitor in Riddle. Rock tried everything he could, but Backlund was too much for him and added insult to defeat by winning with Riddle's own signature move. As always, after the bout Riddle said he never submitted and declared himself the winner on reverse decision. David Crockett was highly confused next, as Adrian Street made his way to the commentary station. Tony said Street wasn't on the format sheet and wasn't even a part of the company as far as he knew. Street told Tony he doesn't know much but Street knows two things: power and pain. And he is the master of discipline that will bring The Powers Of Pain to the tag team championship, starting now. Powers Of Pain defeated Tommy Angel and Tony Zane when Barbarian pinned Angel after the Elevated Clothesline.A standard squash affair as Adrian did commentary, barely letting Tony and David get a word in. Melina and Steve Regal made their way to the ring for the light heavyweight title match when they were stopped by commissioner Bill Watts. Watts said he's seen enough interference and shenanigans in Regal's title matches, so Melina can take a hike and Regal had better not because if he is counted out or disqualified he will lose the title. Steve Regal defeated Ric McCord to defend the light heavyweight titleThis one really could have gone either way. McCord rolled early, but Regal came back by lifting a boot as McCord charged the corner. After about eight minutes Regal finally scored the win with the Ft Lauderdale Leglock. The Patriot won by disqualification over Masked Superstar in a US title match.Apparently Superstar gets to take over for Regal tonight, as he got disqualified to save his title. Patriot would not submit in the Cobra Hold, trapped in it for over a minute (three consecutive rolls on the card). Finally Superstar tossed him out of the ring and the two brawled on the floor until Superstar used a low blow and was disqualified. Jack and Jerry Brisco won by disqualification over Harley Race and Bob Roop when Vader interferred. The action was heavy in this one. In the end Jack used an airplane spin on Harley and went for the pin when Vader arrived and splashed Jack as he was on top for the cover. Vader then took Jerry out by clotheslining him off the apron and threw Roop out of the ring for good measure. Race recovered and peppered Vader with punches to the face, knocking the big man back against the ropes before Watts led security in to break it up. After the match Harley Race went over and grabbed the mic from David. He said Vader crossed the line getting involved in his match and if he wants to throw a tantrum to try to get a rematch with Brisco he can do it from the nursery, because the wrestling ring is for men to settle differences and the ring belongs to Harley Race.
....and on that note, we cue the music.

(Worldwide is delayed this time because it was pre-empted by Atlanta Braves baseball or something. IDK, I just wanted to roll the next episode of Championship first! It's coming next) Tony Schiavone and David Crockett welcome you to the show as always. "And Tony, we've got a barn burner for the fans today. Let's go right to the ring and the NWA world tag team champions, The Road Warriors". The Road Warriors mauled Thunderfoot 1 and 2 and won with the Doomsday Device. The Feet (?) got a few moves in on Animal, but the Warriors were dominant yet again. Following the match Adrian Street entered the scene to taunt the Road Warriors. He said last week everyone saw how much bigger, stronger, and faster the Powers Of Pain are than the Road Warriors and that's why they will be the next tag team champions. Paul Ellering once again reminded that "it's not nice to fool with the Legion Of Doom" to which Street countered "it's naughty, but it's nice". Street challenged Ellering to bring the Warriors to the studio next week to face the Powers Of Pain in a weight lifting challenge. Of course fans, challenge accepted. Back from commercial, Tony welcomes out The Patriot. Patriot said he was glad to get the win last week but he feels that if the action had stayed in the ring he would be standing there as the new US champion. Tony was glad to inform him that Bill Watts and the championship committee have agreed that he deserves another shot at the US title and he will get it at the big event coming up at the Omni. Scott Casey got the win over Strangler (w/John Mantel) via Bulldog and pin.Casey was ready for the big masked man this time and hit the bulldog early. Mantel jumped on the apron, but Casey dropkicked him off and covered the masked brute to get the decisive win. Post match Strangler and Mantel jumped Casey and beat him down. They were prepared to use that.... looped rope (Turner standards and practices approved language ) until Thunderbolt Patterson and world champion Jack Brisco ran out to make the save. Tony and David interviewed Thunderbolt next. Patterson said he isn't looking to get into any personal issues with anyone right now as he focuses on "greeeen and goooold, baby" but he has some real strong feelings about some of the "....imagery....the Hangmen and Mantel are invoking, if you know what I'm saying". Brisco joined in and said as world champion he has to be a leader and set an example, and that sort of behavior will not be tolerated on his watch. Just like the behavior of Big Van Vader won't be. Jack said the big event is coming at the Omni and the world title will be on the line. Whether the committee gives Vader the rematch or it goes to someone else, the world champion will be ready. Mildred Burke beat Toni Rose to advance in the women's title tournament.Rose took Burke to the absolute limit in this long and evenly contested bout. It really looked like an upset would occur but Burke rallied and locked in the Alligator Clutch to secure the victory. Light heavyweight champion Steve Regal and Melina came out next. David was once again enamored with Melina while Tony tried to conduct a professional interview. Regal said now that the dead weight Disco Inferno has run away it's time for the spotlight to be firmly on him and him alone, where it always should be. Regal said the "champion's challenge" is back on (recall weeks ago when he was fighting ringers, including Nacho and Nacho in a mask). Regal said he was also going to prove his worth by sending Melina to the back as he goes it alone to defeat "the very worthy challenge of 'The Spider'". "The Spider" defeated Steve Regal to become the new light heavyweight champion. *Regal absolutely dominated the match until a miscue on a deathjump. "Spider" tossed him off the buckles then used the "Last Dance" to score the pin. To the surprise of nobody, Spider took off the mask after the result and was revealed to be Disco Inferno. DI went up into the stands to celebrate with the belt and was getting a surprisingly positive reaction from the crowd. Melina rushed out and protested the decision to the referee, but the ref assured her that Regal was counted down for the three and no matter who was under the mask, the decision is valid. Jim Cornette came out to talk with Tony and David. He said Watts is forcing his men to meet Valiant and Fernandez in a scaffold match at the Omni, but JC always has a plan. In order for the match to actually take place Fernandez and Valiant actually have to reamin in one piece until then and he intends to make sure that doesn't happen. To that end, Cornette has secured the services of ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER. Abdullah came out and grabbed David by the tie. He was threatening to stab him with a fork when Manny Fernanadez ran out and jumped Abby from behind. They fought to the ring and the match got underway. Manny Fernandez won by disqualification over Abdullah The Butcher.Manny had the big man rocked and got a near fall after the Flying Burrito. Abby rolled out of the ring and grabbed a chair, bringing it down on the head of Manny to draw the DQ. After the result Abdullah and Cornette's bodyguard Mr Hughes battered and bloodied Manny in the middle of the ring until referees and security came out to stop the beating. Manny recovered and went over to the commentary station. He said if Cornette wants to take it to the next level, that's fine by him. He challenged Abdullah and Hughes to come face hima and Valiant in a tag team match next week. After a break, HARLEY RACE was interviewed. Harley said he didn't have any problems with Vader before, but that has all changed. The Omni is coming up and Harley said he can find no better way to determine the number one contender than a match between him and Vader. That way he gets revenge for Vader interfering in his match and then he goes on to win back the NWA championship and settle the score with Brisco once and for all. Tully Blanchard pinned Magnum TA in a fantastic main event. If a wrestling journalist were handing out stars, this one was a solid four. The bout had back and forth action, holds and counter hold, blocks and reversals, highs and lows. After over twelve minutes of wrestling Magnum missed a charge into the corner and Tully rolled him up (feet on ropes, naturally) to get the pin. * Note: Could not have asked for the dice to roll better for this match. Disco literally got the one move win here. Of course I had a backup plan as always, but this was a really satisfying result.

NWA Worldwide with Gordon Solie and Bob Caudle Gordon: "Kicking off this week's action, we go to Florida where the Rock N Roll Express continue to try to get back into world title contention. In their way is the new Heavenly Bodies, Tom Prichard and Jimmy Del Rey*." Rock N Roll Express defeated The Heavenly Bodies after the double dropkick on Tom.Fantastic tag team action from Florida where both teams gave it their all but Ricky and Robert had just a little bit extra. Ricky made the tag to Robert and they nailed the double dropkick after about ten minutes to continue their winning ways. Bob Caudle: "The women's title tournament rages on as popular Nora Greenwald battles ring veteran Judy Martin to see who advances to round two." Nora Greenwald defeated Judy Martin in a tournament matchThis was another hotly contested bout in, as both women gave it their all to try to advance and become the new women's champion. In the end Nora hit the Flipping Seated Senton to get the pin. Gordon: "The action moves to Minnesota now as The Crusher faces Larry The Axe Hennig in a match that may have title implications, as both try to move into contention to face Minnesota champion Nick Bockwinkle." The Crusher won by disqualification over Larry Hennig. The action immediately went to the floor as Hennig attacked with punches in the corner and Crusher rolled out of the ring. Hennig gave chase and hit Crusher with a chair. The referee came out to try to break it up as Crusher retaliated. Hennig shoved the ref out of the way as the combatants brawled on the floor and that drew the disqualification. Bob: "Nothing settled there as Hennig and Crusher fought to a decision and continued to brawl staright to the locker room." Gordon: "And now we go to our broadcast partner Bill Apter who has a special interview with the vile and loathsome manager and failed lounge singer, Tony Clifton. Apter interviewed the loud and verbose singer turned manger Clifton. Tony said Don Curtis is getting under his skin. He paid Curry a lot of money to hurt Curtis but he hears Don still isn't backing down. Clifton complained that Curtis is a great "pro wrestler" but he's boring and brings nothing to the entertainment side of things. He vowed to bring in a man who will demolish Curtis and be entertaining doing it. Don Curtis interrupted and said he will show up at the arena next week and take on anyone Clifton can throw at him. Then he wants to see Clifton pack his bags and go back to Hollywood where Clifton's friend Andy Kaufman and him can go clown around and let the real wrestlers take care of business in the ring. Bob: "Big match coming out of Japan, as Bruiser Brody and Steve Williams lock horns." Bruiser Brody pinned Steve Williams with a one-arm body slamFast, hard hitting action ensued right from the opening bell. This match was fairly quick, but action packed from bell to bell. Brody kicked out of a big football tackle, then came back after a belly to belly and a head butt to hit the one arm slam for the pin. Gordon: "Main event time on the program, as the odd couple duo of Bobo Brazil and Johnny Valentine take on frequent partners in crime Bob Orton and Buddy Rogers." Bobo Brazil and Johnny Valentine defeated Bob Orton and Buddy Rogers when Bobo pinned Rogers.Fantastic tag team match. Bobo and Valentine were not used to teaming, so they were at the disadvantage. However, they overcame all obstacles and got the win when Bobo used the Coco Butt on Rogers for the pin as Valentine kept Orton from breaking up the pin. * Using an old b/w bootleg from '09 of Gigolo Jimmy here.
