CWA WRESTLINGhosted by Lance Russell Lance began the show talking about the big main event for the Southern tag team championship when the Rock N Roll Express battle Tom Prichard and Randy Rose. He also said we'd see a rematch between Austin Idol and The Spoiler. Then Exotic Adrian Street and Eddie Gilbert entered the scene. Street was furious Eddie Marlin has put them in a penalty box match against Smothers and Armstrong at the Nashville Fairgrounds. He said he refuses to follow rules and nobody puts him in a box. Gilbert said Marlin is trying to tip the odds in the favor of his favorites but it won't work. Bullet Bob Armstrong came out and said Brad and Tracy are gonna do to Eddie and Street what he's about to do to Eddie's brother Doug. Bob mentioned that Brad and Tracy aren't allowed in the building at the same time as Street and Eddie until Nashville, but that just means they don't get a front row seat to watch an Armstrong whip another Gilbert. Bullet Bob Armstrong beat Doug Gilbert with the GEORGIA JAW JACKER.Nice brawl to open the show. Doug got his shots in, but Bob was too much to handle. Bullet got the pin in about four minutes. Of course, Street and Eddie jumped after the bell. Bob fought them off for a few seconds, but Doug recovered and jumped into the fray. Finally a bullwhip weilding DUTCH MANTELL came in whip crakcing and chased them off. Dutch went over and talked to Lance as Bob was helped to the back. He said there are a lot of bad seeds in the territory right now, causing a lot of problems. So it's up to guys like him to be the problem solvers. Last week he promised the Dirty White Boys he was coming back with a partner, and he kept his word. Dutch reintroduced Brickhouse Brown to the fans and said they are about to teach the White Boys a thing or two about fighting fire with fire. Dutch Mantell and Brickhouse Brown went to a double disqualification with The Dirty White Boys (w/Jimmy Hart)that was not completely unexpected. Anthony and Denton isolated Brown in the ring for a while, but he finally made the tag to Dutch. Things heated up and the battle went to the floor where it got out of control for the double DQ. Jimmy Hart went over to argue his case with Lance after the bell. He said everyone saw the Dirty White Boys dominate that match and they should have been the winners, but Dutch and Brown took it to the floor to save themselves from the pin. He said they're just as bad as that turncoat Austin Idol. But that's okay, because Idol is about to get his at the hands of the one and only Spoiler and this time he won't be able to run away from the ring like last time. Lance told Jimmy to knock it off because everyone saw Chick Donovan grab Idol and hold him outside of the ring for the countout last week. Jimmy told Lance he needs to check his glasses and make sure nobody has been dosing his coffee in the back, because he is hallucinating.
Austin Idol and The Spoiler wrestled to a TV time limit draw.Fantastic match. They took each other to the limit and managed to escape each other's signature holds numerous occasions. Idol survived five pin attempts and Spoiler overcame four. Finally the TV time (50 moves) expired and the bout was declared a draw. After the match Idol lobbied for five more minutes, but Spoiler walked away. Lance Russell was joined by Rocker Leif Cassidy. The smiling goof said it was "awesome when those two little dweebs PG-13 beat down that big idiot Dan Spivey who thought he was a one man tag team." Spivey appeared behind Leif, grabbed him by the head, and tossed him into the ring. Dangerous Dan Spivey pinned Leif Cassidy after a POWER BOMB.Leif did not go down without a fight, but when Spivey gained firm control he simply tossed Cassidy around the ring for a few minutes before the pin. Southern champion Superstar Bill Dundee came to ringside for the main event. He said whoever wins this match he will be here to congratulate them, one champ to another.
Rock N Roll Express defeated Randy Rose and Dr Tom Prichard to become Southern tag team champions. If you're going to hand out stars, this one got at least four of them. All out tag team war. Prichard seemed to have Robert pinned at one point after his "SUPERKICK" enzuigiri, but Ricky was there for the save. Moments later Ricky got the hot tag and came in to gain control. A DOUBLE DROPKICK sealed the deal. Bill Dundee congratulated the duo after the bell and handed them the title belts. Jimmy Hart and the First Family (Dirty White Boys and Chick Donovan) came out. Jimmy told the Express not to get comfortable with those belts, because they are just on loan from the Dirty White Boys. Chick said the same about Dundee and his Southern title. Ricky rebutted that it takes more than running your mouth to be a champion or else nobody would be in Jimmy Hart's league. He said there's a big even coming in Nashville and he thinks it would be a fine time for THE champs Bill Dundee and the Rock N Roll Express to face off with those three chumps standing across from them. Jimmy agreed but said they'd do it only WHEN his team gets the win Chick gets a match for Dundee's title and the White Boys get a southern tag team title match. All agreed and it's on!
Matches signed for the fairgrounds: - Bill Dundee and Rock N Roll Express v Chick Donovan and The Dirty White Boys - Brad Armstrong and Tracy Smothers v Eddie Gilbert and Adrian Street in a penalty box match - Sputnik Monroe v Jackie Fargo v Billy Wicks - Austin Idol v The Spoiler - Brian Christopher v JC Ice ...and more!

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLINGw/ Tony and David Tony began the show by announcing a HUGE main event as the west coast tag team champions THE KANGAROOS will challenge Sgt Slaughter and Don Kernodle for the world tag team championship. Then David called out US champion WILDFIRE TOMMY RICH and congratulated him on his successful title defense last week. Tommy said he's just one step close and at the Omni he's going to grab that gold ring because he can't be denied and all Nick Bockwinkel needs to do is sign his name on the dotted line. Tony said the world champion will be here next week with his manager Bobby Heenan and we will get his answer to the challenge. Sam Houston pinned Black Bart (w/Ron Bass).Solid opening contest. Bart tried to bully Sam around, but Houston came roaring back and hit the BULLDOG. Bass tried to get involved but Same stopped him before scoring the pin. After the match Sam narrowly escaped a beating by rolling out of the ring right as Bass tried to jump in to attack. Sam was joined by JIMMY VALIANT to talk with Tony and David. Jimmy talked up Sam's win and said all he had a match scheduled with Manny Fernandez but he hears Manny and Superstar aren't in the building. JJ DILLON came out and said his men had car trouble and couldn't make it, but he refuses to forfeit a match and the money that goes with it. JJ said everyone forgets that he was a champion wrestler and HE will take up the slack and replace Manny tonight against Valiant. Jimmy Valiant defeated JJ Dillon by disqualification when Ron Bass and Black Bart attacked.Went about how you'd expect. JJ got his shots in early, but Jimmy turned it around and beat on JJ for a few minutes before he bailed out of the ring. Jimmy gave chase and Bart and Bass ran out to attack. Sam Houston jumped back into the fray and Jimmy and Same brawled with Bart and Bass until order could be restored. After the break Tony and David were joined by REDD DOGG RODNEY MACK. Dogg said everyone forgot about him since the Russians left the territory, but he's about to remind them and he still isn't done with Ranger Ross. REDD DOGG RODNEY MACK beat Ranger Ross by pinfall.Boo! Ross had it going his way until he threw Rodney into the corner and charged in. Rodney moved and Ross hit hard. Mack rolled over and covered for the three count in about four minutes.Wild Bill White defeated Mike Jackson.Nice match between a couple of journeymen seeking a win. In the end White locked in a grinding chinlock and turned it into a choke. The ref didn't see it and White dragged Jackson down to the mat for the pin.Sgt Slaughter and Don Kernodle beat The Kangaroos to defend the world tag team titles.Fantastic action. In the end Slaughter kicked it into high gear and tagged out to Kernodle. One ATOMIC BOMB on Costello sealed the deal and the champs retained the belts.Following the contest the champs were confronted by MR WONDERFUL ROCK RIDDLE. He said he's glad Sarge and Kernodle retained the belts because it will be that much sweeter when he takes them off of him with his NEW tag team. Sarge asked what the little flea bag has up his sleeve and Riddle brought out King Kong Bundy and Big John Studd. The towering giants stared down at the champs as the show went off the air.*
*King Kong Bundy original color card for now, and black and white Masked Superstr II for Studd.

AWA ALL STAR WRESTLINGhosted by Larry Nelson Larry opened the show talking about the main event for the tag team championship when The Long Riders tangle with the Texas Hangmen. He said it's two teams full of Baaaad dudes, but the Long Riders have strangely heard some cheers lately after their battles with Ron Bass and Black Bart. Now to the ring for a man who has gotten a little more confidence after his big tag team win last time, Jake "The Milkman" Milliman. Jake Milliman defeated Rick Renslow with a second rope head butt.Milliman looked good here, getting a nice win in a couple of minutes. Ken Resnick caught up with Milliman ringside after the bout. Jake said guys like Larry Z and Steve Regal had better watch out, because the Milkman always delivers. Playboy Buddy Rose (w/Sherri) pinned Ric McCord.
Nice back and forth action at the outset of the match, with McCord getting the better in the end and wearing down Buddy with a hammerlock. Rose came out of it and got the pin after a jarring vertical suplex. Larry Zbyszko was interviewed before his match. He said Trooper and Milliman and all the other spud heads out there had better watch out, because the Living Legend has gone back to basics, made a few phone calls, and called in a few favors. Now he's got his master sensei watching his back and the sky is the limit. With that Masa Saito came into view and Larry said if anybody has a problem with it, see Saito. Larry Zbyszko (w/Saito) defeated Red Bastien. A main event quality match. Larry stalled at first, then Red got him with an arm drag. Larry ducked out through the ropes, stalled some more, and caught Red with a sucker punch. The action heated up and at one point Saito provided a timely distraction at ringside that let Larry take firm control and get the pin after a hard spinning back kick followed up with a neckbreaker and pin.
Jumpin Jim Brunzell pinned Boris Zhukov after the HIGH FLYING DROPKICK. Solid battle between rivals here. Action from bell to bell with Brunzell making his comeback with a jumping knee smash after Boris threw him off the ropes and finishing the match with the signature dropkick. Larry Nelson studio interview with DOCTOR X. Larry talked about the Doctor's impressive win over Billy Red Lyons and recounted his history of success elsewhere around the country and the world. X said it was a foregone conclusion that he will be the next world heavyweight champion as soon as Bockwinkel stops running around padding his record with easy wins over soft competitors. Larry Nelson was indignant at that claim, saying men like Bob Backlund and Antonio Inoki are some of the best in the world. X clarified "some of the best, because they are not Doctor X". Larry Hennig (yet another Larry in Larryland wrestling here) entered the scene and said if X wants a challenge and wants to prove himself, he can look no further than the Axe. Lyons is a tough little guy, but he's no Larry Hennig. Doctor X calmly accepted and said he showed he can handle agility, he'll show he can handle brute stength, and when he's done there will be no doubt there are no flaws in the game of Doctor X. The Texas Hangmen beat The Long Riders to become AWA tag team champions. A fight as you'd expect. Not a lot of finesse here. In the end the Hangmen got help from a mystery third Texas Hangmen, setting up Scott for the HANGMEN BACKBREAKER and the pin.

CWA WRESTLINGlive from the Nashville Fairgrounds Southern Champ Bill Dundee and Southern Tag Champs Rock N Roll Express beat Chick Donovan and The Dirty White Boys (w/Jimmy Hart). The stipulation here was if Jimmy Hart's men won they'd get title shots later in the evening. That didn't happen, as Ricky Morton pinned Tony Anthony in a fantastic match. Hart protested and complained all the way back up the aisle as the winners celebrated. Dangerous Dan Spivey came to the ring and said the fans came to see a Southern title match tonight and Dundee should give it to them. Superstar quickly deduced that SPivey was challenging him and asked, if he's putting up the belt, what's Spivey putting on the line? Dan said if he can't beat Dundee tonight he'll leave the territory. Brian Christopher defeated JC Ice with the TOP ROPE LEG DROP.Fine four minute match with Christopher controlling most of the action and going on to get the pin. Fabulous Jackie Fargo beat Billy Wicks and Sputnik Monroe in a triple threat match. All three took turns tearing into each other and Monroe bled all over the place. In the end it was Fargo tossing Wicks out of the ring and using the ATOMIC DROP on Monroe for the pin. Brickhouse Brown beat Frogman LeBlanc with ease.Nothing match. Brown got the win in about a minute with his finisher. Following the contest Koko Ware showed up and took the mic. He congratulated Brown on the win, but asked what he's doing in the popcorn match before intermission after such a strong debut. Ware said it's because Dutch Mantell used him for the get even match then ditched him and people here just don't care about wrestlers like Brickhouse Brown. Brown asked what that meatch, but Koko said Brown knows. Ware said Brown better get his head straight or he'll keep doing these nothing happening matches until he's used up. Tracy Smothers and Brad Armstrong beat Eddie Gilbert and Adrian Street in a penalty box match. Gilbert found himself in the box on two occassions when Street needed help. In the end however it was Street who left Gilbert in the ring to fall to Armstrong for the pin.
Austin Idol beat The Spoiler with the LAS VEGAS LEGLOCK. Classic match. Long and grueling and either man could have won. In the end Idol put together a series of moves and slapped on his version of the figure four for the win.
Superstar Bill Dundee beat Dan Spivey to defend the southern title. Dundee controlled the early minutes, but Spivey finally caught him and made the big comeback to toss the smaller man around for a while. Dundee rallied back and hit the SUPERSTAR BOMB for the pin.
As a result, Dan Spivey's brief and strange journey through CWA has come to an end.

The Russell card is a little heavy handed sometimes.

This was the backup in case Hart's team didn't win so I could still do a title match on the show. I was struggling figuring out what to do with Spivey, so I figured he either wins the title or he's gone. If he won I have no idea what I was going to do, honestly.

THE MOTHERSHIIIIIIPw/ Tony and David Tony did the show open and hyped the return of Bob Backlund later in the show and our first look at up and comer Keith Larson*. He then brought out JJ Dillon and Manny Fernandez. JJ said Jimmy Valiant has to contend with Black Bart in tonight's featured match, but first the Raging Bull will get in the ring and prove why he continues to be the uncrowned United States champion. Manny said the area isn't big enough for him and Valiant anymore and he'll be waiting in the wings later on to pick apart the pieces Black Bart leaves in the ring. With that he tore off his bandana and leather vest and jumped in the ring for the opening bout. Raging Bull Manny Fernandez defeated Keith Steinborn after the FLYING BURRITO.Protracted squash as Manny reacted the the shennanigans at ringside. During the contest, a guy who looks like a donkey (mascot? chimera hybrid? ...Animan? Stay tuned) wearing a singlet that read " SILL E. DONKEY" on the back came to ringside and began entertaining the fans. Dillon and Manny were irritated and demanded he leave ringside, Dillon asking "did Jim Herd put you up to this?" Finally Donkey went over and put on Manny's bandana and vest and began mocking the bull. Manny quickly pinned his opponent and gave chase, chasing the donkey all around the arean and out of the building!
David Crockett was as giddy as a school girl calling the action as the Bull chased the donkey.
Bob Backlund defeated Golden Terror after an ATOMIC DROP.Bob was back in form and picked up a convincing win. Bob spoke with Tony and David after the match. He said he's back on track thanks to help from his advisor and trainer ARNOLD SKAALAND and he's ready for revenge against James Mitchell and his circus side show. REVEREND MITCHELL came out and told Backlund he will get what he wants and he'll get it next week, but he's not ready for what's in store as the Reverend always has a new attraction in his House Of Horrors. King Kong Bundy and Big John Studd (w/Rock Riddle) destroyed the Mulkey Brothers and won by countout.Studd and Bundy tossed the Mulkeys all over the ring until they were finally tired of playing and dumped them both out of the ring to take the countout win. Keith Larson defeated George South via sleeper hold.Larson got the lion's share of the offense, but South definitely made him work for the win. Jimmy Valiant went over to Tony and David before the main event. He tried to kiss Tony and chased him around a little before asking how silly Manny looked chasing a donkey. He said it was like one jackass chasing another clear out of the building and nobody has seen him since. Jimmy Valiant defeated Outlaw Ron Bass (w/JJ Dillon) after the BOOGIE WOOGIE ELBOW.An extremely close contested main event. Bass has his opportunity to put Boogie away after the TEXAS STAMPEDE, but Valiant kicked out. Later on Valiant had the pin when Dillon reached in and put Bass's foot on the bottom rope to break the count. The bout ended after nearly ten minutes when Valiant hit his finisher again and scored the pin. * Of course we know Keith Larson as "Rocky Kernodle" on his playing card, but to the fans in Georgia he's Keith Larson. For now. Let it play out!
