Show open and Ross and Solie are joined by US champion Rick Rude and manager Bobby Heenan. Ross talked about the heinous attack of Roddy Piper on the last show and Rude cut him off. He said Piper paid the price and he'll keep on paying until he tucks his tail into his skirt and runs like the half man coward he is. He then turned his attention to defending the US title against Sgt Slaughter at Pro Wrestling USA. Rude said Sarge can wave the flag all he wants, but Rick Rude represent the best this country or any other has to offer. Heenan said it will be a banner day for the Heenan Family as Rick Rude retains the US title and Paul Orndorff will bring the world title back into the fold.

Rick Rude beat Randy Mulkey in a non-title match.
Big beatdown and easy warm up win for Rick Rude as he heads into his upcoming title defense.

After the match Rude was going to set Mulkey up for another RUDE AWAKENING when Sgt Slaughter ran out to chase him away.

Sgt Slaughter beat Keith Steinborn.
Convincing win for Sarge as he slapped on the COBRA CLUTCH to get the win in about a minute.

Kevin Sullivan brought out his Dungeon Of Doom (Missing Link, One Man Gang, and Eric The Red) to the interview area. They were joined by Bob Roop who came out only showing one side of his face. GOrdon SOlie welcomed Mr Roop back to the territory and Sullivan cut him off. Kevin said "Bob Roop no longer exists" and Roop turned to reveal a shaved side of his head and hideous face paint. Sullivan explained that this man, Maha Singh, had stepped on the 13th step of the 13th pyramid and he was reborn as a force of pure destruction, stripped of the human compassion that formerly existed. Sullivan said Vader was foolish for trying to deny the freedom and purity the Dungeon Of Doom can provide, and he will soon learn the error of his ways, just like the Kernodle brothers will shortly and Wahoo McDaniel will in tonight's main event when he comes face to face with the devil himself. Jim Ross tried to ask about Ox Baker but SUllivan barked that Ox is a fool and an afterthought and not worthy of mention anymore.

Missing Link and One Man Gang once again won by disqualification over Don and Rocky Kernodle when Ox Baker interferred.
Great match again. The Kernodles seemed to have it won after the ATOMIC BOMB, but Gang saved Link from the pin. Things continued until Sullivan handed Link a weapon. Ox Baker ran in and attacked Link to save Rocky from getting spiked in the head, but the result cost Don and Rocky the match.

Ross and Solie recapped what happened last show between Rip Rogers and Mike Rotunda. Rip came out and said that coward got painted pink last week and he's going to leave a yellow steak on the mat tonight when Rip pins his shoulders to the mat. Rotunda attacked and beat him up on the way to the ring.

Mike Rotunda pinned Rip Rogers to get some measure of revenge on the Hustler.
Really good match. Mike fought back when it looked like he was down and out and used the AIRPLANE SPIN to get the pin.

World champion Macho Man Randy Savage was in Bill Apter's Hot Seat. Randy said we're in the eleventh hour and it's almost time for Paul Orndorff to see his day of reckoning. Apter noted that Orndorff has been practically untouchable since coming here many months ago and has vanquished some of the all time greats on the road to becoming number one contender, to say nothing of Bobby Heenan watching his back from ringside. Savage was not worried and said he has a few tricks of his own to make sure Heenan is neutralized and nobody can stand face to face with the Macho Man and win one on one in a fair fight. 

Kevin Sullivan won by countout over Wahoo McDaniel when Maha Singh interfered.
Great main event. They beat the crap out of each other until it went to the floor. Sullivan distracted the referee going for the gold spike in the corner as Maha Singh appeared and gave Wahoo a piledriver on the floor. McDaniel could not meet the ten count.

Link, Gang, and Maha circled Wahoo after the match when Don Kernodle, Rocky Kernodle, and  Ox Baker came out to even the odds. A four on four brawl broke out until Eric The Red came out to tip the odds in the favor of Dungeon Of Doom. Suddenly Big Van Vader ran out of the curtain and started laying waste to the Dungeon Of Doom. They took off and Ox Baker got too close to Vader, getting a chokeslam for his troubles. The Kernodles and Wahoo slid out of the ring as Vader controlled the ring to end the show.

The Spoiler defeated Manny Villalobos
Manny came out strong and had an impressive showing. He nearly pinned the Spoiler with a cross body off the top rope, but Spoiler fought back and put Manny away with the BIONIC CLAW in about six minutes.

Dynamite Kid beat Hiro Matsuda to defend the NWA Junior Heavyweight championship.
The Florida stalwart was no match for the champion on this night. Dynamite picked him apart and won inside of five minutes after a top rope dropkick (deathjump).

After the match Gordon Solie conducted a ringside interview with Dynamite. He welcomed the champ back to the United States and said he was looking forward to future title defenses. Dynamite said he's back and he's more focused than ever on two things: breaking necks and cashing checks. To that end, he announced his new manager Jim Cornette. Cornette made his way to ringside with Dennis and Bobby, The Midnight Express. Jim said he's going to handle the business end of things so Dynamite can focus on the ring. Cornette promised he'd soon be the manager of both the junior heavyweight champion and the tag team champions because all Bobby and Dennis need is one fair shot. The Fantastics came to ringside and Fulton said the feud between these two team will never be over. They have been to war everywhere their paths have crossed and now it's time for the fans in the great state of Ohio to see Bobby and Tommy beat the "you know what" out of Condrey and Eaton. Well, the Express didn't like that, and the brawl began on the floor and spilled into the ring.

The Fantastics won by disqualification over The Midnight Express.
A great tag team match with a fitting ending to kick start the feud again. Fulton was in control after a long match when the action went to the floor. Dennis grabbed Jim's tennis racquet and smashed Fulton to draw the disqualification. Tommy ran over to help his partner and got served as well. The Express left with arms raised as the fans cascaded them with boos and concession stand garbage.

Doctor X and Larry Hennig wrestled to a double countout in an AWA American title match.
The heated rivals from the Minnesota promotion brought the fight to the rings of the NWA to try to settle things. They didn't. A long a protracted battle ended in an unsatisfying double countout. The champion Larry Hennig retains.

Ravishing Rick Rude beat Sgt Slaughter to retain the United States championship.
A barn burner, indeed. They went tooth and nail, Katy bar the door, and every other old wrestling cliche you can think of. In the end Sarge was getting ready to lock in the COBRA CLUTCH when Bobby Heenan slid Rick a foreign object and distracted the ref. Rude gave Sarge a low kick as he locked in the Clutch, then smacked him with the knuckle dusters to set up the RUDE AWAKENING and the pin.

Miracle Violence Connection beat Rock N Roll Express to win the world tag team titles.
Another amazing bout between these teams. The end came after about fifteen minutes of action when Williams and Ricky were fighting on the floor as Gordy used the ORIENTAL SPIKE on Robert and drove him to the mat for the pin.

Gordon Solie conducted an interview with Rowdy Roddy Piper. Roddy said Rude had Heenan back him up tonight and he barely got by Sarge to keep the US title. But soon they'll meet inside a steel cage and there's nothing Heenan will be able to do to help. Roddy said he'd be watching the world title match very closely, because once he wins back the US title from Rude that will make him number one contender and he needs to see who he is going to have to beat to become world champ.

Mr Wonderful Paul Orndorff pinned Macho Man Randy Savage to win the NWA world title.
Yeah, well, Paul has been pretty much untouchable since he debuted. Fantastic match, Randy almost had him after an axe handle smash from the top rope to the floor, but Paul's JUMPING PILEDRIVER sealed the deal and made Mr Wonderful the new world champ. 

Where do we go from here? Heenan has the US champ and the world champ in his family. How will the family dynamics shift when Nick Bockwinkel decides his vacation is over and shows up again? Is there room for Orndorff, Rude, Race, AND Bockwinkel at the Heenan Family table? Nick and Harley would make a good tag team. Is the Macho Man heading back north now that his short lived title run is over? Or will he stick around and cause trouble for Heenan and his men? I don't know, I book all of this stuff on the fly!

with Jim Ross and Gordon Solie

Jim and Gordon start with the big news of a NEW world champion in Paul Orndorff. Bobby Heenan entered the scene with his Heenan Family: world champ Paul Orndorff, US champ Rick Rude, and Harley Race. Heenan bragged that he called it and it happened: the world title is back with the Heenan Family. Orndorff told Ross there was never any doubt because nobody has been able to touch him since he's arrived here and that's not about to change. Commissioner Bill Watts made an appearance and said he hopes Paul is ready to back up his words, because there's no rest for the wicked and with the way he and Heenan "stole" the title, Watts says that word "wicked" definitely applies. He called for a four person tournament on next week's show, with the winner facing Orndorff for the title the following week. 

And the excitement continued, as Thunderbolt Patterson came out to claim his spot for next week. He said Heenan better not even THINK about getting involved. harley Race spoke up and said he's the enforcer for Bobby Heenan and he won't take threats lightly. Watts called for a match between the two later in the show, and Patterson wanted to up the stakes by saying if he wins, Bobby Heenan is not allowed to appear at ringside for Orndorff's world title match. Watts agreed, Heenan and his men were furious, and Patterson walked away happy.

Rip Rogers and Ranger Ross wrestled to a double countout.
Cuban Assassin was at ringside and caused a distraction at one point. Mike Rotunda came out to even the sides and eventually a brawl broke out with all men on the floor, forcing the referee to call it a double countout.

Jim Cornette came out with Dynamite Kid to talk to Gordon SOlie. Cornette was unhappy the Rock N Roll Express couldn't hang onto the tag team title so his Midnight Express could beat them, but Williams and Gordy will suffer the same fate if they step in the ring with Bobby and Dennis. Then he addressed the current thorn in his side, The Fantastics. Dynamite told Jim not to worry because he was about to defend the junior title and cripple Tommy Rogers in the process.

Dynamite Kid won by disqualification over Tommy Rogers in a junior heavyweight title match.
A great match got out of control when Corny jumped on the apron. Rogers took Cornette's racquet, turned, and smashed DK with it to get disqualified. 

Sam Houston pinned Bob Cook after a BULLDOG.
Sam was NOT real impressive here, needing a long time to finally put away Cook. Bob looked like he was going to score the upset a few times, but Houston secured the pin with the BULLDOG after about ten minutes.

Piper's Pit began with Roddy saying Heenan better enjoy having all of those title now, because it won't last long. Rude's time is coming in the cage with Roddy Piper, and then Orndorff is on borrowed time. He then switched gears and brought out Rip Rogers and Cuban Assassin. He said they seem to have a real strange alliance brewing, asking Rip if his politics align with his CUban buddy. Rip said all that matters is making money and beating people up, and they can do it together better than separately. Mike ROtunda and Ranger Ross came out to challenge them. Mike said everyone saw what happened earlier in the show, and what's been going on between them for weeks now, and they deserve to see a decisive finish. ROss added that they want a no disqualification match next week. Cuban called RIp over and they walked to the corner of the stage to confer. Rip nodded, Cuban nodded, then they both walked away without answering. 

Don and Rocky Kernodle won by disqualification over Missing Link and One Man Gang.
HEY! A disqualification between these teams. Who'd have guessed? This time Gang introduced the steel chain and was beating on the brothers until Wahoo McDaniel ran out with a steel chair in hand to make the save. 

Thunderbolt Patterson pinned Harley Race after a HEAD BUTT.
Patterson gained huge momentum heading into next week's world title challenger tournament. They had a great match that would get many of the snowflakes and the stars and the thumbs up on the various bogus match rating systems. Race had him in trouble late, but Patterson rallied and hit a HEAD BUTT out of nowhere for the pin. 

Patterson went over to Gordon after the match and said next week he gets one step closer to doing what he said he'd do ALL the way back when he first got here: win gold and make big green. He then headed out into the crowd to celebrate with a group of wildly cheering fans.

Tiger Conway Jr defeated Bill White.
White can be a handful, but Conway handled business this night and put him away after a pinpoint dropkick and pin.

Midnight Express beat The Fantastics.

Before the match Dynamite Kid attacked Tommy Rogers in the aisle as the Express went after Fulton. Security led Dynamite away and the match began. Bobby Fulton tried to handle the opening minutes of the match and did well, but Eaton and Condrey were too much on this occasion and got the win when Condrey pinned Rogers in about eight minutes.

Ox Baker pinned Maha Singh.

Ox scored a big win here after a brutal bout. Maha busted Ox wide open a few minutes into the match, and Ox returned the favor later. WIth both men wearing the crimson mask Ox finally got the pin after a big elbow smash to the bleeding forehead of Singh. Really good match.

As Ox got his hand raised by the referee, Missing Link came out and attacked. He was beating on Ox when Wahoo McDaniel made the save. The referee called for the bell and the next match was underway.

Wahoo McDaniel beat Missing Link
Link took control after the initial onslaught by Wahoo and looked like he may score the victory. Wahoo rallied and used a FALLING CHOP for the pin.

World Champion Paul Orndorff and US Champ Rick Rude beat Roddy Piper and Sgt. Slaughter.
A tremendous main event ended when Orndorff used a PILEDRIVER on Piper and got the pin as Rude prevented Slaughter from getting involved.

American Males beat Sam Houston and Scott Casey when Riggs pinned Houston.
Solid opening match. Houston and Casey looked good early until a cheap shot by Bagwell swung momentum. The Males hit a double dropkick on Sam to get the pin in about seven minutes.

Bobby "The Brain" Heenan made an appearance and demanded the microphone. He said Thunderbolt Patterson wants to make a nuisance of himself and challenge the champion Mr Wonderful, but he called in a few favors and got a problem solver to face him tonight. He said when it's all said and done Patterson won't be in any position to challenge for anything other than next in the bread line after Adrian Adonis is done with him.

Thunderbolt Patterson beat Adrian Adonis in convincing fashion.
So much for that. As Heenan watched from ringside in disgust, Patterson came back from an attack before the bell and won after two consecutive HEAD BUTTS and a pin.

Steve Williams and Terry Gordy beat Mike Rotunda and Ranger Ross to defend the world tag team titles.
Rotunda and Ross gave it their all and looked good in defeat. Finally after about ten minutes of action it was Gordy with a POWER BOMB on Ross for the pin.

Harley Race (w/Bobby Heenan) beat Tommy Rich in another classic encounter between the two.
Race came out on top, but it was a close one. Rich hit a piledriver for a near fall at about four minutes, then followed with a THESZ PRESS for the near victory. Race battled back and got the pin in around 12 minutes with a DIVING HEAD BUTT.

Wahoo McDaniel defeated Kevin Sullivan in a first blood match.
Wahoo beat up Sullivan in the early minutes of action. It looked like it was going to be a route as Wahoo battered Sullivan with chops to the forehead, but The Gamemaster came back outside of the ring. He beat up Wahoo and finally threw him into the corner and produced the dreaded golden spike from his boot. He charged Wahoo, but McDaniel raised a boot to the face and the spike went flying. Wahoo recovered it and used it to bust Kevin Sullivan wide open for the win.

Gordon and Jim opened the show and brought out Thunderbolt Patterson. They talked about his big win over Harley Race and how he's riding momentum into tonight's mini tournament to decide the next challenger for Paul Orndorff's NWA world title. Patterson talked for a while and then Tommy Rich came out to speak. Tommy said they both have one goal tonight, and that's to get the opportunity at the title. Patterson has the Spoiler and Rich has to deal with the devil Kevin Sullivan. He said if their paths cross at the end tonight he wishes THunderbolt luck but he knows it will be a great match either way. Patterson and Rich shook hands and we get to the opening contest.

Rock N Roll Express beat Bill White and Johnny Mantell.
A very competitive opening bout. Mantell and White tried everything they could to pull the upset, but Ricky got the hot tag and the pin after a DOUBLE DROPKICK on White in about seven minutes.

Gordon talked to Ricky and Robert after the match. Ricky said they beat Williams and Gordy once, but they failed when it counted and they are now the world tag team champions. He promised they aren't done yet and the fans haven't seen the last of the Rock N Roll Express as world tag team champions.

Maha Singh (w/Kevin Sullivan) won by disqualification over Ox Baker.
Another wild contest between these two. The fans are really getting behind Ox, chanting "Ox! Ox! Ox!" every time he hit his opponent. In the end it spilled to the floor where Sullivan tried to get involved. Ox hit him, then grabbed a steel chair and hit Maha too to get disqualified. 

Sullivan attacked Ox after the match, but Tommy Rich came out for the save to start the next match.

Tommy Rich beat Kevin Sullivan as Ox Baker kept the Dungeon Of Doom from interfering.
Really good match here. Rich mounted the big comeback around the ten minute mark. Missing Link and One Man Gang tried to get involved, but Ox held them off with the steel chair and Rich got the pin with a THESZ PRESS.

Jim Ross interviewed Bobby Heenan, world champ Paul Orndorff, US champ Rick Rude, and Harley Race. Orndorff said it does not matter if it's Rich, Patterson, or Spoiler who wins tonight, nobody can beat him. Rude focused his attention on the impending cage match with Roddy Piper, saying it will all be over between them very soon. He promised to send Piper running back north with his skirt tucked between his legs. Race was still angry about losing to Patterson and promised there would be hell to pay. Heenan smirked and told Ross the pleasure was all his, then led his men away.

Pirata Morgan made his debut with an impressive win over Manny Villalobos.
Gordon put over the pedigree of Pirata on commentary as he put on a showcase match. Ross noted that Morgan is in the running for a title match with Junior champion Dynamite Kid based on his stellar record south of the border and we will see that match very soon. Morgan used the MOONSAULT BODYBLOCK to pick up the win with ease.

The Spoiler beat Thunderbolt Patterson after interference from Harley Race.
Disappointing end to a great match. The fans were in near riot mode as Race made his way to the ring with Patterson down on the floor outside of the ring. He picked up Thunderbolt as Spoiler had the ref distracted, and hit a vertical suplex on the floor. Race deposited Patterson back into the ring where Spoiler used a doulbe underhook suplex to pick up the win.

A groggy Thunderbolt Patterson made his way over to Jim and Gordon after the match. He promised Race there would be comeuppance and he'd better watch his back everywhere he goes, because he's got a big old target on it now and Thunderbolt doesn't miss. 


A special  video package was shown of Big Van Vader decimating opponents in Japan. At the end Vader spoke and said he hasn't forgotten and he hasn't forgiven. He wll be back soon to collect on debts and regain his world title.

Tommy Rich beat The Spoiler to earn a world title match.
Another great match on a night of great matches. Spoiler attempted to play the....spoiler and get himself into the title picture unheralded, but it was  not to be. Rich put him away with the WILDFIRE SLEEPER in around twelve minutes to claim his spot as the new contender to the world title.

The show ended with Rich talking to Jim and Gordon. He said he's had his chances at the world title before and Heenan ruined them, but he won't let this one go to waste. Rich warned Bobby that he will have someone in his corner to counteract anything the Weasel can do and there's gonna be a new NWA champion when it's all said and done.

FLORIDA HEAT
A special supercard from Tampa, FL in conjunction with Championship Wrestling from Florida

Rocky Kernodle won by countout over Maha Singh.
Maha spent the opening minutes just wearing Rocky out, but could not get the pin. Rocky finally mounted a comeback with a pair of dropkicks and a near fall. It went back and forth from there until Rocky knocked Maha out of the ring around the 12 minute mark. Singh landed hard and could not get back in before the ten count.

After the match Kevin Sullivan and One Man Gang attacked Kernodle. Things were looking bad until Wahoo McDaniel came out with his Indian strap in hand and chased them away. Wahoo took the house mic and said he's got Gang later tonight, and he wants a no disqualification match so the Tampa fans can get a clear cut winner. 

Rip Rogers beat Mike Rotunda in a great one when Cuban Assassin interferred.
Excellent match. In the end Rip got a near fall with his version of the DDT, but Mike got his foot on the bottom rope to break the count. Rip argued profusely with the referee as Cuban Assassin raced down the aisle and hit Rotunda with the flagpole of the Cuban flag he carries to the ring. Mike was out and Rip covered for the pin.

Rock N Roll Express beat The Samoans (Samu and Alofa)w/Sir Oliver Humperdink.
RnR continue to build momentum as they try to get back the tag team championship. The Samoans had their moments, but Ricky and Robert got the win after the DOUBLE DROPKICK in about seven minutes.

Fantastic Tommy Rogers won by disqualification over Dynamite Kid (w/Jim Cornette) in a junior heavyweight title match.
Fast paced and hard hitting, but Dynamite clearly was more focused on hurting Rogers than getting the win. In the end he just threw Rogers out of the ring, took Cornette's tennis racquet, and beat Rogers relentlessly with it. Officials and referees finally had to step in and threaten to strip Dynamite of the title to get him to stop. 

One Man Gang (w/Kevin Sullivan) beat Wahoo McDaniel in a no disqualification match.
A bloodly brawl from bell to bell. Both men were bleeding when Wahoo hit the FALLING CHOP and went for the pin. Sullivan jumped in the ring and attacked. He tied Wahoo to the tree of woe and hit the running knee, then OMG used his signature splash twice in a row for the pin.

Jack Brisco beat Mike Graham to defend the Florida championship.
Nice technical matchup. Jack eventually outshined Graham and got the win with the FIGURE FOUR in about eight minutes. 

Rowdy Roddy Piper beat Ravishing Rick Rude in a steel cage match to win the US title.
Great cage match to end a fantastic night of action. Rude kept trying to put away Piper with his own move, the sleeper hold. In the end Roddy came back, bloody and beaten, and won with the hold instead to become US champ once again.

Gordon and Jim opened the show and talked about the two huge title matches on the show. Rock N Roll Express will challenge Miracle Violence Connection in a return match for the tag team titles, and Tommy Rich will attempt to make Paul Orndorff a short term champion in a world title match. Jim Cornette and NWA junior champion Dynamite Kid entered the scene. Jim said none of that matters because you are about to see the greatest tag team in the world, Loverboy Dennis and Beautiful Bobby, The Midnight Express.

Midnight Express made quick work of The Mulkey Brothers.
Dennis pinned Randy in about two minutes after a double goozle.

Rock N Roll Express talked to Gordon and Jim. Gordon talked up the title history and credentials of the Express. Ricky said they are 1-1 against Miracle Violence Connection and after tonight they will win the series and take back the tag team titles.

Sgt Slaughter beat Afa Jr (w/Sir Oliver Humperdink).
Afa attacked at the bell, but Sarge quickly turned the tables and won with the COBRA CLUTCH.

After the bell Sir Oliver motioned to the back and Sefa Fatu ran down and brawled with Sarge. They fought to the back and the show went to commercial.

After the break, new US champion Roddy Piper hosted Piper's Pit and former world champion Randy Savage. Savage congratulated Piper on his win over Rue and said the Heenan Family will fall as quickly as it rose because Savage is back to take what belongs to him. Tommy Rich has the shot tonight, but no matter who wins The Macho Man is the real world champion. Rick Rude came out angry. He said Piper screwed him in Tampa, and the stipulations called for it to be the last US title match between them, but he'll get his down the line. Rude turned his ire towards Savage and said he talks tough, but he can't compete with the Heenan Family so he'd better pack up and head back north. Savage challenged him to put his money where his mouth is and face him in the ring next week. Rude accepted and told Savage he was going to finish the job the world champion started by running him off for good. 

Before the match Ox Baker spoke with Gordon Solie. He said he saw what Sullivan and Gang did to Wahoo in Tampa, but he's ready tonight and with all of his Oxen in the crowd pulling for him there's no load too heavy for the Ox. And that includes One Man Gang. The fans chanted "Ox! Ox! Ox!" as Baker hit the ring.

Ox Baker pinned One Man Gang after the HEART PUNCH.
Kinda surprised myself, as the Ox train keeps rolling. Gang took it to him, but Ox fought back and went for the pin. Sullivan tried to distract, but got hit with a HEART PUNCH. Ox followed up with one on Gang for the pin.

World champion Paul Orndorff and manager Bobby Heenan talked with JR. Heenan said Savage is delusional, Piper better be prepared for the worst, and Tommy Rich is going to be faced with a hard dose of reality shortly. Paul Orndorff was intense. Very good match, but the champion was too much to overcome. Paul laid in the offense early, but tommy came back and locked in the WILDFIRE SLEEPER. Paul made the ropes for the break, but Rich continued the assault. Tommy threw Paul into the corner and charged, Paul moved, and a few moments later the PILEDRIVER earned the pin for the world champion.
